Jane Fonda Blames Giffords Shooting on Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and the Tea Party

By Noel Sheppard | January 08, 2011 | 19:07

Jane Fonda has blamed Saturday's tragic shooting spree in Tucson, Arizona, on former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, and the Tea Party movement.

Obviously possessing no facts about the alleged shooter, the liberal actress and activist tweeted the following moments ago:

Actually, Giffords is not a Progressive. Wikipedia lists her as part of the Blue Dog Coalition.

But that wasn't Fonda's only mistake, for moments later she added:

It would be nice if Fonda knew how to spell Beck's first name, but since she's likely never seen his show or read anything he's written, it's not surprising.

Actually, she's so clueless about the proper spelling of his name that she moments later tried to tweet him again misspelling Glenn:

Nice job, Jane. You're quite a rocket scientist.

Alas, she wasn't done, for moments later Fonda doubled down:

To be sure, the Left's predictable and groundless finger-pointing whenever these kinds of incidents happen in our nation is not at all surprising. As Matt Lewis observed at Politics Daily, the Netroots are way ahead on this blame Palin meme.

Yet, from what we can glean concerning alleged shooter Jared Lee Loughner, he doesn't at all fit the right-wing mold.

A video that he posted at his YouTube channel features a flag burning, certainly not what one would expect from a conservative. Loughner also listed his favorite books including "Mein Kampf" and "The Communist Manifesto."

Liberals love to claim Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist Party were right-wing. However, as Hitler wanted total governmental control of industry and healthcare, his views were quite opposite of what conservatives in America currently stand for, especially Palin, Beck, and members of the Tea Party.

Of course, it is not all surprising liberal media members won't let such facts get in the way of their unfounded accusations.

After all, they never do.

Consider the source folks....no evidence, no real information, but that never stopped a liberal before. What happens if they find out the gunman had no political leanings, just an anti-America nut? Sigh...just what we need Jane, flame the fire. Jane Fonda is a trouble maker.

I always think about

Submitted by winston smith on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 8:05pm.

I always think about the hundreds if not thousands of Vietnam vets that lost their lives after Jane encouraged and supported the government of North Vietnam. The woman drips with putrid hypocrisy in attempting to blame Palin and Beck for a shooting they had nothing to do with all the while with real blood on her hands and treason in her heart for her fellow countrymen and the fighting American men and women in Vietnam that she betrayed who died to protect her ungrateful liberal ass and the freedoms which she distains even to this very day.  She is an evil witch. She deserves a permanent vacation in North Korea.

On a more serious front, pray for Ms. Giffords and all those who lost their lives today.

If it comes out that this guy was a left-leaning fellow, then Jane Fonda will start making a beeping nosie as she backs up.  Then she'll blame Bush and start looking for lawyers to spring him on an insanity plea.

After all, hating the Right has driven lots of people crazy.  Just look at Fonda.  Even left-wing leaning types want her to shut up.  She's such an embarrassment they can't defend her.

Aside from Jer, who has proven today that he does have more than two brain cells, I've not heard any other left-leaning types wish for Jane to shut up and go away. I think they don't because deep down, they respect Jane much more than they'll ever admit. Hanoi Jane did what every leftist wants to do -- trash American troops and spit in the face of America while still living in the country. I sincerely believe the hatred is that deep and pathological. All you have to do is understand that the vast majority of anti-American films are produced in America.

To be fair, it seems that

Submitted by Slyrr on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 7:51pm.

To be fair, it seems that both sides will have fodder in their stampede to judgment.  From what has been learned so far, this guy was gung-ho for Pelosi and her agenda, and angry that the woman he shot voted against Pelosi.  Certainly, Republicans and Tea Party types are no fans of the Pelosi/Reid/Obama cabal, so it seems highly unlikely that he was a 'right winger'.

But he also was ranting against 'the government', which is certainly not the normal behavior of a typical tax-and-spend-big-government-loving left-winger.  And supposedly an ex-soldier to boot - not the normal profession of the 'I hate america' leftists.

Madness has no ideology, and this guy sounds like he was crazy enough that he may not have had any idea whose side he was on.

I think it was probably G-8 protestors.  They are the ones that trashed the place and had to be arrested for rioting, Jane.  It is YOUR side that generally will not peacably assemble, because every one of you is an arrested adolescent, just like the White House occupant and can only have YOUR way.  You cry, whine, call people names, then want a "No Labels" group when people label you exactly as you are.  You are just hypocrites.

BTW, Jane, do you know the name of the person that gave aid and comfort to the enemy?  She sat on a gun in 'Nam, and I don't think she ever apologized or was made to atone for he collusion.  Why should we listen to a traitor?

Submitted by Jer on Sun, 01/09/2011 - 2:34am.

A lttle bit of history and a heaping helping of partisan fable:

The Ft. Hood shooter was a radical Islamic terrorist and no more of a "liberal" than were the 9/11 suicide bombers;

The pilot of the small plane who crashed into the TX building was an anti-tax, anti-government fanatic--again, not a "liberal";

The Unabomber was an unhinged ecoterrorist Luddite who had no particular affinity for the Left or the Right.

The Ft Hood terrorist wanted to radically change the USA the same goals as the liberal in the WH.  The idiot who crashed the plane into the IRS was a Democrat in Austin and was a liberal.  He wasn't anti government just the IRS and the Bush admin.  The Unabomber in writing his manifesto seemed pretty liberal.

Krugman is posting that Fox

Submitted by Van Halen on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 8:46pm.

Krugman is posting that Fox News is at fault.
Fonda is posting that Palin and Beck are to blame. One of the Democrat Congressmen are saying it's the fault of Fox News. The anti-gun people are going wild - not noticing that the Congresswoman was a gun owner.
Many on the Left are trying to pin the shooting on Palin because of a political target map she had out a long time ago. But Daily KOS had a target map out too - and postings about the Congresswoman being dead to certain posters. KOS tried to pull it down but the screenshots are all over the place. A person claiming to be an aquaintance of the shooter at one time is tweeting that the shooter was a Liberal kook last time she saw him. Shooter references the Communist Manifesto amonsg other books.

Why give Hanoi Jane attention?

Submitted by Dolphie on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 8:54pm.

What is the purpose of giving Hanoi Jane any type of attention.

She is a troll, she is irrelevant and she is the source of continued torture and abuse of service personnel.

Why give her a headline?  She is playing the leftist game. They instigate a situation and blame it on others.  You giving her additional air time just works for her and against the truth.

A liberal Democrat

Submitted by amram on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 9:03pm.

A liberal Democrat congressman, Ed Perlmutter from Denver, Colorado told a Denver news station that the shooter must have had a sub-machine gun. He also said that if he could get his hands on the shooter, he would break his (the shooter's) neck. I am glad liberals are so against violence.  My sympathy to Denver. I sense that the gun control crowd is going to rear it's ugly head again.

Submitted by mostlymoderate on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 9:09pm.

You notice how difficult it is to find much information online right now concerning the gunman?  It's because he is as liberal as you can get.  One of those nuts that blamed G.W. Bush for 9-11.  One of those nuts that said Cheney was the anti-christ.  It says on his bio that one of his favorite books was Mein Kampf.  Is there even such a thing as a CONSERVATIVE that would read Mein Kampf??? Nope, it's the Berkeley liberal type reading.

The media don't want to report that.  But, if this had been a stereotypical 4-wheel drivin', gun loving, NASCAR all-American with a cowboy hat his face would be EVERYWHERE!

Submitted by Galvanic on Sat, 01/08/2011 - 9:28pm.

Clarence Dupnik has blamed today's violence on the "vitriol" coming from talk radio and "some" TV programs.   He also proclaimed his state as "the Mecca" of racism and hatred in this country.

In the question and answer portion of the news conference, the Sheriff stated that he has no reason to assume the shooter is insane, but earlier he told the press that talk radio and some TV programs created the environment in which mentally-unstable people are inspired to violence.

It should be noted that after the governor of Arizona signed S1070 into law last year, Sheriff Dupnik declared publicly that he would not enforce it.

Submitted by PrairieSky on Sun, 01/09/2011 - 7:34pm.

my statement that Pelosi, Reid, most Dems in the government and the MSM do not grasp that mid-terms elections have taken place? I was simply responding to your post that Fonda doesn't seem to understand that mid-term elections have taken place, and followed up with my contention that neither do Pelosi, Reid, most Dems in the government (at least most of those who managed to hang on to their jobs) and the MSM. Based on the rhetoric from all that I mentioned, they appear not to understand why the Dems lost so badly...Pelosi is still runnning around telling us all what a great success her tenure as Speaker was, and what great things the Dems have done for us all the last 2 to 4 years. Reid is pretty much in lock step with her in this opinion, so are the majority of the Dems in the House and the Senate...particularly in the House, which became apparent when they actually and unbelievably voted for her as minority leader. The MSM, as usual, are continuing their job as cheerleader for the Dems and this administration, so it's obvious they haven't gotten the memo that the voters sent in November, either.

If you don't agree with my assessment, fine...But I'd appreciate your not dismissing my take on this as 'garbage'...I don't recall ever referring to a position of yours likewise, no matter how wrong or objectionable I may have found it...Let's try to elevate the discourse, okay?

You're right.  Even though I prefaced it with emphatic praise for your usual commentary, I still shouldn't have used thie term "garbage" in describing your post.  Very unfair of me.  I'm sorry.

My only excuse is that it was late, I was about to sign out and then noticed what I felt was an unwarranted swipe at your Democratic targets [notwithstanding the fact I'm not a particular fan of Reid and Pelosi.]

Also, a misunderstanding contributed to my poor choice of words and your reaction.  When TNMom referred to the "liberal lefty" being freaked out by the midterm elections, I thought she was referring to the Arizona shooter.  Consequently, I noted that he wasn't lucid enough to even be aware of the elections.  As such, I then assumed you were comparing Pelosi, Reid and the Democrats to the deranged monster who had killed or wounded twenty people.  I see now that TNMom was apparently commenting about Jane Fonda, not the crazed shooter, and thus you likewise had Fonda in mind.

I hope that mitigates my transgression just a little.  But in any event, I was out of line.

of misunderstandings was at work here...I had no idea that you took TNMom's reference to "liberal lefty" to mean the shooter, rather than Fonda, and based on that understanding, I responded as I did. As a result of what you took as her meaning and mine, you in turn responded to me as you did. To be clear, as bad as I believe that Pelosi, Reid and the others I mentioned are, I would never compare any of them to that murderous loon in Arizona. Now that we both understand what we were both driving at and what our respective points were, we're back on the same page.
