Kathy Griffin Says She Bashes the Palins to Get Attention from Bill O'Reilly and 'The View'
As NewsBusters readers are well aware, vulgarian comedienne Kathy Griffin spends a lot of time bashing the Palins.
On Thursday's "Late Late Show," she told Craig Ferguson, "Half the fun is knowing I will irritate Elisabeth Hasselbeck and then maybe the other ladies at “The View” as well as hopefully Fox News's Bill O'Reilly (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CRAIG FERGUSON, HOST: Now you got into terrible trouble recently. What was it for the…
KATHY GRIFFIN: Oh, Bristol Palin.
FERGUSON: Yeah, the Bristol Palin…
GRIFFIN: I called her the white Precious.
[Applause]
FERGUSON: That’s right, I forgot about that. Now, that's -- you mustn't do that, Kathy. That's wrong.
GRIFFIN: Why are you acting like you don't know me now?
FERGUSON: It’s not that, it’s not you. You mustn't comment on women's weight. That’s not right.
GRIFFIN: No, that's so, so fun. I meant wrong. I meant, no, but half the fun is knowing I will irritate Elisabeth Hasselbeck and then maybe the other ladies at “The View” and be a Hot Topic. So, I reached my goal: I was Hot Topic and Pinhead of the Week.
FERGUSON: On "The View"?
GRIFFIN: No, Pinhead of the Week is on O'Reilly, which of course upsets my mother because she thinks she’s dating Bill O’Reilly. It’s a long, there’s a lot of this going on. And, anyway, so now I'm in an "Us Weekly" celebrity feud, which I guess, I don't think you’ve every been in an “Us Weekly” celebrity feud.
FERGUSON: I'm not a celebrity.
GRIFFIN: Well, I'm excited to be in a celebrity feud.
FERGUSON: Who with?
GRIFFIN: The Palins. Any Palin will do. I'll take them all. They are all comedic fun, like…
FERGUSON: No, no, no. Come on now.
GRIFFIN: The mom is like quit her job. Get her $10 million deal at Fox News.
FERGUSON: No, don’t go that, the Palins will, no, you don't know.
GRIFFIN: They will shoot you from a helicopter. “I thought she was a moose. I thought she was a moose with red hair!”
FERGUSON: Come on, now.
GRIFFIN: I’m not safe, I'm not safe in Wasilla. I know that.
FERGUSON: Is it a political thing with you?
GRIFFIN: It’s just fun. I mean, they’re just, I just love these ridiculous larger than life characters, and I just think it’s funny that you know, that, well, I just think the whole family is a riot. Just trust me.
Actually, what we should trust is that this "woman" understands quite well that all she has to do is say anything disparaging about one or all of the Palins, and the liberal media will eat it up.
Does that say more about her or the state of "journalism" today?

I watch The Factor almost every nite and I don't think I have ever heard Bill mention her. For Kathy and for Chelsea Handler--I enjoy them--but I record and FF through the Palin comments.

She's irrelevent. Nobody will pay attention to her, unless she's being nasty. Sharpton and the MSM are the same. They claim that the right has a stranglehold on the media. You know how they say comedians overcompensate for some other personality disorder, such as shyness, etc, well Kathy has to overcompensate because she has a body no one wants to look at naked. Did anyone catch the photo's of her performing for the troops? She claims to have had plenty of plastic surgery, but she should get a refund. That ass is dropping to her knees. Very gross. But she knows her talent and relevance is a yard wide but only a inch deep; so she
swings wildly at anyone more important then she, solely to get attention and bookings.
I hope she's invested her money wisely, she probably won't be able to get the attention

She's got no talent. She's got minor celebrity status. I'm pretty sure she's invited to any celeb party for her shock value, just like she's invited onto late night talk shows - for shock effect only. She's not very entertaining, I thought she was somewhat funny in the couple of Seinfeld episodes I saw her on. And, in those episodes, she was appropriately cast as an annoyance to Jerry.

The ugly truth is that in high school the rest of us made fun of Kathy Griffin. Even the prissy girls, who'd generally scolded us for making fun of the Kathy Griffths, would chuckle under their breath. Even the principal and the vice-principal of the school -- and the liberal granola-loving English teacher -- would all snicker at the Cathy Griffins of the world. They knew it was wrong and impolite to laugh at the girl who was the butt of all the jokes, but they 'd do it anyway. Why? Because she was an ass who was begging to be mocked.
And she knows it. She still lives in that bubble. She has an inferiority complex written all over her nose-jobbed face, and she craves that negative attention. It's masochistic. It feels like affection for her. We also call that: being a troll.
One can only imagine what a Sarah Palin represent to Griffinn. Palin: natural beauty even at her age, very fit, and everything she has she earned on her own effort. In Hollywood, Griffin learned the hard way that success was based on connections, unrealistic physical attractiveness that she could never attain, and some degree of talent or charisma that gRiffinn would never have. The only other way to become successful in Hollywood: demean or whore one's dignity, integrity, and virtue for whatever anyone is willing to pay. Hence her career mocking people more talented, happier, and more hard-working than her.
