Oprah: 'America's Going to Fall in Love with Sarah Palin - As a Reality TV Star'
Oprah Winfrey thinks America is going to fall in love with Sarah Palin - as a reality TV star that is.
In a Parade magazine interview scheduled for publication this Sunday, the daytime talk star also said she's not afraid of Palin running for president because she believes in 'the intelligence of the American public":
On Sarah Palin:
"I don't know her so I can't speak to [whether or not she'll be a candidate]. But I would say that America's going to fall in love with her from [her reality series, Sarah Palin's Alaska]. When I saw that first episode, I went, 'Whoa! She is charming and very likable.'"
Asked whether the thought of Palin's running for office scares her, Oprah said:
"It does not scare me because I believe in the intelligence of the American public."
Isn't it special that Parade asked her "whether the thought of Palin's running for office scares her?"
Not surprisingly, Winfrey was quite complimentary of the current White House resident:
Can I ask about President Obama? Are you concerned, disappointed?
No. I think that no one understands until you’ve been in that seat the enormous pressure to please and satisfy everybody. And I think instead of being grateful for where we are and what he has done, we’ve forgotten that we were on the brink of a depression when he took over this office. And as everybody celebrates the holiday season and sits around with their families, regardless of your circumstance, we could’ve had breadlines. How soon we forget that.
And you would support him again?
Absolutely.
Readers should expect her comments about both these figures to get a lot of attention in the coming days, especially from the Palin-deranged media.
CNN.com was all over this Wednesday evening claiming in the first paragraph (h/t Hot Air), "Oprah Winfrey says America may 'fall in love' with Sarah Palin as a TV star, but is dismissing the idea that the country would vote for the former Alaska governor in the future."
Seems a metaphysical certitude that'll be the take from this Parade article by the Palin-hating media..

Palin will only run in one more election- for POTUS. She's committed to making a difference. She can make that difference as President. If she decides not to run, she will continue to do what she's been doing. She's far more effective now than she would be as a Representative, Senator, or VP.

Chicago is a strange cesspool of racial politics. You would think that with charactors like Reverend Wright, Louis Farrakhan Jesse Jackson, White Nazis, etc. that Chicago would be a battleground of seething racial hatred. But not really. The only real violence (which is really bad) is black on black. But for the rest of the people race is just a business, used to shake down corporations or build up your church or organization. Oprah, a Chicagoan, has become a billionaire pandering to white women.

I don't believe in the intelligence of those Americans who voted for :"Change you can believe in." Frankly, I would like an apology from the voters and the media who facilitated this dumbazz getting elected.
And I love the fact that Oprah is repeating the line that "we don't know what it's like being president." We could've been in bread lines? Really? Much more of this socialist/Marxist BS and bread lines are right around the corner!
No one like Oprah seemed to give GW credit for all the tough decisions he had to make, which invariably made some people unhappy. I'll give Barry his due credit when he stops blaming Bush for all his f-ups.

Not too personal at all. Sorry for the time delay in answering but given the time of year....
Why did I vote for BHO? Unfortuantely, at the time I knew nothing about NB and my internet connection was a dial-up (using a 28.8 modem!), so scouring the net for information was tedious at best. Not an excuse; maybe a mitigating factor?
Anyway, without NB or another source I pretty much fell victim to the whole Palin bashing by the MSM and found myself quite unhappy with McCain in choosing her for VP. The MSM kept harping about how unsuitable SP was and I bought into the lie. I felt McCain chose her simply to pander to the female voter, even though I am male, and as a result voted Democrat for the first -- likely only -- time in my life.
Ultimately the decision was, of course, mine to make, so I can really blame only myself. Sure, the MSM did its part in misleading dupes like me but the truth was out there had I taken the time to seek it. I didn't.
I don't mind talking about my mistake because it serves to warn against relying on the biased MSM for, well, most anything in the way of news, facts, or fair opinions. If I can learn from my mistake perhaps I can also teach others to avoid the trap that ensnared me.

Ah, the Palin Factor. So you're saying it was a vote against her more than a vote for Obama. I appreciate your honesty and understand how that influenced you, but the part I was especially wondering is what kind of president did you think Obama would be? Did you hear/know anything about him that made you nervous about what decisions he would make if he took office?

Not really. As I said I was getting my information from the MSM and didn't know how much they were shilling for him and protecting him. Based on that limited info I guess I hoped Obama was going to be a good POTUS. Without accessing contrary information about him his rhetoric during the campaign was convincing. And since he was elected apparently I wasn't the only one swayed by that rhetoric.

Again, I admire anyone who puts it out there like you have, and it makes me feel like maybe the country learned a (generally speaking) bigger, deeper lesson from this. And I don't mean that in a condescending type of way, just in case it's hard to tell.
I respect that everyone has a right to their own opinion and vote, and we can't go back and undo our decisions in life (voting or otherwise), but you're exactly right that we can reflect and learn from them. And hey, look! (above) -- a guy who voted for Carter...that's not easy to deal with either! :)
Thanks again for sharing~it's gracious of you.

Dear Oprah:
So based on your opinion of the American public, how did they come to elect an "Obama"?
Reason: The American public has too many "Zombies" and were hoodwinked by a fawning press corp. He is the most incompetent, inexperienced person to ever walk into the Oval Office and with Marxist tendencies to boot. Palin can run circles around him and believes in the principles that made this country a great nation. Too bad he is trying to tear the country apart. I hope we can survive and reverse the damage and make people like you irrelevant.

Either Oprah sees her star beginning to wane and would like to parlay a relationship that will sustain her ego a few more years, or she figures that by endorsing Palin she can retain a modicum of influence (read superiority) over her. Regarding the second she's a little late to the party, Sarah (and unfortunately her family) has already been vetted (skewered) by the national media many times over.
Lord knows Oprah's got enough money to satisfy all of her needs and pretty much every desire she could ever have. The ego aspect may be a little tougher to satisfy since her track record for picking winners whose deeds and abilities match their words isn't good (picture our President).
I think Palin should go on her show a time or two but only if it takes place way up north. How about ANWR for starters?
