Matthews Gets Another Tingle for Obama's 'Cute' 'Wonderful' 'Boyish' 'Smile We All Love'
Barack Obama's tax compromise victory has got tingles running back up Chris Matthews' leg.
After showing a clip of the President at Friday's bill signing, the "Hardball" host raved to guests Eugene Robinson and Howard Fineman about the Commander-in-Chief's "cute smile we all love...That wonderful, boyish smile" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: You know, whatever you say, I want to talk about the subjective president, Gene, your reaction to this. Subjectively, in his heart, he's a happy man this weekend. That smile, that cute smile we all love in that guy. That wonderful, boyish smile of his he gave us there after he made his little crack about the holiday spirit. I haven't seen that in months.
What was even more delicious about this snippet was the look on Robinson's face when Matthews was swooning:

You get the feeling that deep down in side, Robinson knew Matthews was crossing the line with all this gushing and fawning about another man's smile?

It must have been all those long, lonely, dangerous nights that Prissy spent overseas in the Piece Corpse that caused him to jump the fence.
All it took was for a smiley faced nazi to be elected president and he got so hot and bothered that he couldn't hold it inside any longer.
What I want to know is how does Prissy see His "boyist smile" when they're "engaged"? Does he look over his shoulder with a mirror?

Dave is right. There is no circumstance [that I can think of at least--and clearly not this one] by which "boyish smile" can be considered a racial pejorative--as opposed to referring to a black adult male as "boy". On the other hand, Matthews' slobbering is definitely creepy, sickening and sycophantic.

If anyone who knows the historical racial connotations of the term "boy" uses it in association with an adult black male, then, imo, it is certainly legitimate to raise the issue of racial senstivity or lack of same with regard to its usage.
And for the gazillionth time, I do not believe Rush is a racist or makes racist startements, but I do believe he has been on (rare) occasion guilty of making racially insensitive comments and engaging in racially insensitive conduct. [An example of the latter would be his mocking dialect and speech patterns, such as his saying "axe" instead of "ask".]

the Black citizens of America have Minister Louis Farrakhan, Pastor Jeremiah Wright, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, good ol' Reverend Al Sharpton, and the members of the New Black Panther Party, ready, willing, and able, to advise all and sundry what is, and what is not, racist, either in thought, word, or deed.
While I'm sure they appreciate your assistance, since the almightily righteous brothers apparently have neither the time nor the inclination to visit here on NB threads, in order to provide us with the moral, spiritual, and intellectual educational aspects of what is, or is not, what may be, or what may not be, racially insensitive, I personally don't care to hear it from you.
Or from any liberal politician who would likely sell me down the river in a heartbeat in exchange for a vote from a minority.
You certainly have the right to speak out on this issue, but from my perspective, you go on and on about this race business as though you personally have suffered mightily from its insidious grip.
I doubt you have.
I know I haven't, but I also know that I don't need the guilt from the politically correct crowd calling me out for what they presume to think I mean when I speak or write.
If I choose to insult someone, I will leave no doubt that I intended to do just that.
It is not my intention to be insulting to you, Jer, nor is it my contention that you are purposely either looking for an instance of racial insensitivity, or an opportunity to be a race apologist, but your comments sometimes seem to indicate otherwise.

Matthew...
All I can do is express my honest opinions, right or wrong, agreeable or disagreeable, and explain and defend them to the best of my ability. When you said in your previous post, "I get it...when Rush says it, it's racist" , I can't just let that statement stand and allow you or others to assume I agree with the conclusion by virtue of a non-response.
I doubt very seriously that 25 per cent of the American public was aware of the pejorative connotation of "tea bagger," and yet the wails of outrage over anyone saying or writing the word in connection with tea partiers has been deafening at this website and the conservative blogosphere. Once the sexual innuendo became more generally known, however, it should have been incumbent upon even those who were previously unaware of its offensive implications to avoid future references.
It is hard for me to believe that an intelligent and knowledgeable man like Rush is completely oblivious to the historical racial implications of the word "boy" when applied to an adult black male. Even so, I don't think it makes him a racist by occasionally uttering the word when speaking of Obama, but it is-- again in my opinion--both insensitive and careless. And it provides a convenient even if not entirely valid pretext for those who are already so inclined and ready to pounce at the slightest "provocation" to fling the race card.

Had I a specific instance in mind concerning you, I would have shot it out there.
I am merely pointing out that I no longer have any patience for this hypocritically based race crap being so damned one-sided.
If someone takes a deserved verbal shot at a racist who happens to be white, good for them. I support that because there should be no place for that kind of stuff in our society.
If that same person does not, or will not, fire off a deserved salvo at a Black racist with the same alacrity, then I will point out the two-headed hydra of hypocrisy.
If you let it slide, the racist, on either side, gets a free ride.

I do my best to call them out. Of course, when I point out that I've called them out I get slammed for that, too. Apparently it contravenes the liberal stereotype and is frustrating to those who insist I conform to same so I may be appropriately and justifiably bashed.
However, I'm sure there will be some instances which I miss entirely or fail to criticize with sufficient alacrity or intensity and will thus leave myself open to a proper--"aha, we knew it all along!"--verbal pummeling.

Sooner or later, The White House will need to get some kind of broadcast version of a restraining order against Matthews and Matthews will go all Glenn Close on Obama. Based on the nasty way he turned on the Clintons during the impeachment (what did Bill say to Matthews, anyway?), can you imagine Matthews on-air reaction to Obama spurning his advances? If hell hath no fury like a woman scorned , then a woman scorned hath no fury like Chris Matthews scorned. In the meantime, I suggest that the White House keep Matthews visits limited to the first floor. Don't even think about letting him anywhere near the family living quarters...
