Schultz and Sharpton Take Limbaugh's MSNBC-is-Racist Joke Seriously
Can two grown men really be this dumb, or is their hatred for conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh so blinding they wouldn't know sarcasm if it punched them in the face?
As tough as it might be to believe, Ed Schultz and Al Sharpton actually took seriously Limbaugh's joke that media outlets criticizing President Obama's tax compromise plan did so because they are racist (video follows with transcript and commentary):
ED SCHULTZ, HOST: And the Drugster is now accusing me of being a racist. He says only racists would oppose the President and this tax bill.
That was in the opening tease. The actual segment came near the end of the program:
SCHULTZ: And finally tonight, an update on Rev. Al Sharpton's fight against Rush Limbaugh's racist rants which are pretty well documented. Rev is trying to get the FCC to step in, and the Drugster is feeling the heat. On his radio show yesterday he lashed out by trying to turn the tables and call folks like me racist.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)
RUSH LIMBAUGH: Man, oh, man, oh, man, ladies and gentlemen, the left, what a bunch of racists! I mean they're all over MSNBC. They are all over the New York Times, the Washington Post. I have never seen such a collection of racists, all these liberals criticizing Obama on this compromise on the tax bill. Well, every bit of criticism of Obama's always been said to be racist, hasn't it?
(END VIDEOTAPE)
For some additional clarity, there were a couple of sentences from Limbaugh's opening on Tuesday Schultz omitted:
LIMBAUGH: What a bunch of just undisguised racism we are seeing in America today. Normally they camouflage their racism pretty well, but I mean they can't, they're so upset. It's there for one and all to see.
On Tuesday, Limbaugh posted his elaborated comments on this subject under the title "Media Racists Attack Obama." In that segment, Limbaugh went after ABC's Jake Tapper, NBC's Chuck Todd, and MSNBC's Joe Scarborough for their criticisms of the President's compromise tax plan.
Any person with even a room temperature intelligence quotient would know that Limbaugh was claiming racism because any time anyone on the right has criticized Barack Obama since the moment he threw his hat into the presidential candidacy ring in February 2007, said person has been accused of racism by the Left. Now that liberal media members are speaking negatively about the President, it therefore has to be because they're racist as well.
Schultz clearly didn't get the sarcasm, and neither did Sharpton:
SCHULTZ: Joining me now for an update on where this fight stands, Rev. Al Sharpton, President of the National Action Network. Reverend, you got people, journalists in the industry who cover radio are following this. What's the update?
REVEREND AL SHARPTON: We are, as I have informed you, we're going to Washington this week to meet with the FCC. We're also going to unveil a petition that we're going to challenge members of Congress and the Senate to sign on to and release on National Action Network's websites who signs on, who doesn't or who ducks, because it's very important for federal officials to take a position, not necessarily just on Limbaugh, but on whether or not they agree that anything whether you're doing it explicitly or implicitly against people based on race or gender should be allowed on federally regulated airwaves. I think we have to press those that have made Senate votes condemning people in the past, that have demagogued on this. Now it comes down to an area that government can be called upon, and we want them on the record. So we intend to escalate this fight. We don't intend to back down at all. And for, for people like Rush to talk about people like you are racist is absolutely absurd. You compare that to people that like he's doing singing "The Good Negro" song on his show and trying to insult the statue of people like the House Majority Whip, Congressman Clayburn [sic]. This is the kind of America we can’t stand by and allow to continue to happen.
Yes, Sharpton did get the name of Majority Whip Clyburn wrong. But this segment demonstrated something far more important.
If these folks don't know when someone like Limbaugh is joking about a person being racist, how can they possibly know when his racially oriented comments are similarly tongue-in-cheek?
Either these folks are too intellectually challenged to understand sarcasm - in Schultz's case, even when he's the subject of it! - or they are astonishingly dishonest with their viewers.
Whichever the answer, neither of these folks should be in the position of determining anyone's racist intentions, for they both clearly can't be trusted to accurately discern such.

Okay Ed. Let's assume Limbaugh was serious and he really thinks you're racist for opposing Obama.
Now, where's your proof that you're not racist? As I recall the rules of the racist game, it is incumbent on the accused to PROVE he/she is NOT a racist.
So Ed, where's your proof?

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” Joe Biden.
Here's the translation, for Ed and Al who can't figure it out: Biden said that this is the first black guy on the American political scene who can both shower regularly and speak properly. And by the way -- Biden didn't identify all those other black men who didn't meet these standards. I'm still waiting to see the list.
Al Sharpton, obviously, has forgiven Biden for this, since he isn't calling for Biden to resign from office.

Sharpton made the point about Rush singing the Barak the good (magic) negro song. Who was the one who brought up the phrase, "Barak The Magic Negro"? Wasn't it an African American columnist named David Ehrenstein? Limbaugh's point in playing the song, "Barak The Magic Negro" is to show racism in that those in the African American Community were saying that Obama was not, "Black" enough. He's not, "down with the struggle".
I have a hard time believing Sharpton and Shultz didn't get it. I wonder if they are saying what they are saying so they can rile up others who are truly ignorant. There is a segment of people in this country who will not take the time to google or watch what others say but will take the word of people who didn't say it. If you watched the video above you would have gotten the idea that Rush Limbaugh coined the phrase, "Barak The Magic Negro". This is the furthest thing from the truth. For baiters like Sharpton and Shultz I am not sure truth means anything to them. The only thing that matters is gaining power and political expediency.

Paul Shanklin is probably the best, and most innovative and incisive, mimic that I have ever heard.............the material is always very professionally done and well produced, as well as being funny, yet totally honest to it's approach. Of course, to anyone who doesn't bother to figure out WHY the material is being produced - it could cause a lot of false deductions and opinions. 'Barack the Magic Negro' is a perfect example.........and there have been others where the libs freaked out about something, without knowing what was really going on - as usual!!!
Al Sharpton: lies and death...

"Reverend" Al Sharpton's career has been marked by lies and death. The lies in the Brawley case have been documented and Al's racist ranting about "diamond merchants" contributed to the death of Yankel Rosenbaum during the march through the Jewish neighborhood. Sharpton has spoken of "the blood of innocent babies" being on the Jew's hands, while, in truth, the blood is on Al Sharpton's hands!
If the FCC moves to restrict our freedom of speech by employing "objective community input" as a condition for licensure, it should be defunded in the next legislative session. ACORN by any name must not be allowed to limit the freedom of expression in the United States.

The answer? Both.
On O'Reilly's show last night he revealed the results of the Pinhead or Patriot poll result specifically about Sharpton's call for Limbaugh's license to be yanked (actually he wants Limbaugh and other conservatives silenced by threatening radio station licensing via the FCC) and for the first time in Factor history the results were:
Pinhead -- 100%

This man is an embarrassment to the ministry. His ignorance and disregard for the truth is amazing. Sharpton wouldn't know a Bible if someone clubbed him over the head with one. He has no clue about what real "racism" is and who it affects.
These 2 clowns are so sophomoric when it comes to anything conservative, but especially with Rush Limbaugh. I don't listen to Rush much, but I know that he makes some very good points and is also known for his tongue-in-cheek comments.

Because people on the left think...

...that they have the exclusive monopoly on satire. They also claim people on the right aren't nuanced enough to make satirical observations (also part of the left=smart, right=not smart meme that leftist jerks keep forwarding). So, when Rush makes a clearly satirical observation, lefties that hate him take it out of context and try to use it against him. This is nothing new, they've been going after him forever now. They seek to silence him, because they simply can't accept the fact that one of their most vocal critics is hugely popular and reaches an enormous audience that lefty radio hosts can only dream of.
Progressives seem to be completely averse to facts and logic. Apparently, reality has a conservative bias.
