Angelina Jolie Refuses to Celebrate Thanksgiving: It's a Story of Murder
Today's "You're Really a Turkey" award goes to actress Angelina Jolie who according to a friend so despises Thanksgiving that she's intentionally out of the country.
The gossip website Popeater is also reporting that Jolie feels Americans are celebrating a story of murder (h/t Big Hollywood):
"Angelina Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans," a friend of the actress tells me. "To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn't her style. She definitely doesn't want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder." [...]
"Angelina gets so grossed out by Thanksgiving that she has made sure her family will not be in America this year on Thursday," an insider tells me.
And although Brad Pitt recently told 'EXTRA,' "We'll whip up a turkey somewhere," he certainly hasn't shared that plan with Angelina. A family friend tells me, "If Brad wants turkey, he will have to cook it himself. For Angie, it will be another day when America tries to rewrite history."
It never ceases to amaze me how some of the folks that have been the most enriched by America's love and adoration are ashamed and embarrassed by what makes this country so great.
If she loathes America's past so much, maybe she should give back all the money she's made here.
Alas, that wouldn't make for a very happy Thanksgiving, would it?

Angelina Jolie isn't that great an actress anyway. And why many of my fellow males think she is remotely attractive is beyond my ability to comprehend.
I am going to enjoy this day that celebrates murder. Tasty, tasty murder. (Hey, the turkey was once living, right?) Miss Jolie, try not to be such an ingrate. And when you get done with that, try and have a nice day.

If Ms. Jolie believes the story of Thanksgiving is, "the story of murder", then she must believe this whole country's hfoundation is one of murder". Doesn't it follow that she must remove herself from this country immediately and never come back - no exceptions - not to sign a big deal, nor to make a movie? Not to do so, woukd make her a hypocrite - and I'm sure she doesn't want to be a hypocrite - right? Happy Thanksgiving Ms. Jolie! And Noel, normally love your work!
That said, in this case, i'll give Jon a benefit of the doubt for his daughter. Whenever i hear... "a friend of the actress told me," "an insider tells me," "a family friend tells me," well, why do you believe it?
I've heard so much attributed to her about being a progressive, but yet, whenever she actually says something, it's usually pretty non-political and focused on her international causes (surge worked), or very libertarian in nature (personal freedoms good). While Jon may not have been a huge influence in her later years, her comments have never indicated that the apple fell from the tree. And gee, she certainly doesn't seem to be personally inclined toward abortion, and she does give a lot of her fortune to her causes, neither very liberal.
Remember during the campaign, some other source "close to her" said about Jolie, "She hate's him [Obama]. She's into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise."
Probably the same source, who just can't get enough attention from the press.
Besides, if she were really a progressive liberal, she would have to have separate limos for her kids, dividing them up by race... .
Nothing personal, but we have so many stupid liberals saying so many ignorant things right there in front of us, let's not join the gossip columnists and their "sources close to...."

People like Jolie never give thought to their opinions. There are other civilizations that are at least 5000 yrs old. Centuries of civil and world wars, killing each other and their neighbors. Even today, Muslims kill each other because they differ over the interpretation of a single statement in the Koran..Yet, these so called intellects have not figured out that America is only 234 yrs old. Cant we have at least another 1000 yrs or so before we are the most hated country in the world? These elitist show such acceptance and tolerance for tyrannical governments that openly avow to destroy western democracies yet hate us because we celebrate a day of THANKS for life, family, bounty, and all of God given blessings. The idea of the United States
Submitted by jdhawk on Thu, 11/25/2010 - 7:41pm.
The idea of the United States celebrating Thanksgiving, as a nation, was formally adopted by presidential proclamation in 1863. The proclamation was by President Lincoln. In the proclamation, he asked that the entire country celebrate what our creator had so bountifully provided to us and that all Americans should put aside the fourth Thursday of November for that purpose. Find below the actual proclamation:
Following is the 1863 Lincoln Presidential Proclamation - celebrated while America was still in the midst of its Civil War. It was this proclamation which eventually led to the establishment of our national Thanksgiving holiday.by the President of the United States of America
Abraham Lincoln
The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful years and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the Source from which they come, others have been added which are of so extraordinary a nature that they can not fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God.
In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign states to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere, except in the theater of military conflict, while that theater has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.
Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the field of peaceful industry to the national defense have not arrested the plow, the shuttle, or the ship; the ax has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than theretofore. Population has steadily increased notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege, and the battlefield, and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.
In testimony wherof I have herunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
[Signed]
A. Lincoln
It was President Roosevelt, that following congressional legislation, signed into law that the fourth Thursday of November would be a national holiday for the purpose of celebrating a day of Thanksgiving. The legislation was signed into law on 26 December 1941.

This piece is crap is no different than the other crap that Us Weekly and the National Enquirer has put out on Angelina Jolie. Why did you guys report this at all? This isn't exactly anything she says, just a supposed friend. And how are we suppose to trust this source anyways? Real friends wouldn't do this!!
Believe me, I've seen them print some of the most vile stuff about Angelina and her family. Anywhere from accusing her of not loving Shiloh as much as her adopted kids, to nitpicking her for her lack of interest at an awards show after-party. Of course, it was revealed she'd just visited her dying mother before the show, thus her "lack of interest", but they never recanted the story or apologized.
These bottom-feeders are like this, and PopEater is notorious for more of this crap. Why take it seriously? And even better, if it is true, when why care? It's her opinion, and it doesn't hurt anyone. Maybe I oughta tell you of some liberals I've met who refuse to celebrate Independence Day because it's a "disgrace".

First off, I don't believe anything from PopEater or any similar site. They're basically the Star or the Enquirer online. It's all just gossip, and not worth the time of day. Whenever you hear, " a source close to ... " or, " an insider said.. ", it's a safe bet that it's all made up, just to drum up publicity. An actor's life revolves around fantasy and make-believe, because that's the world in which they work and live. If she's so concerned about human suffering, then maybe she should sell her private jet and some of her jewelry. Then, she could take the cash and start a clinic in the Appalachians or the Great Smoky Mountains, or maybe even a food bank. How about teaching some of the people there how to read? Oh wait, that's reality. Would that be too harsh to expect her to deal with something unscripted, and without a director to yell, " Cut! Bring in the stuntwoman " . Ms. Jolie, there's no stuntwoman in real life.
Good luck with that.

She will be hard pressed to find a country that has not mistreated it's own indigenous or other cultures. Certainly not any of the old colonial powers. Australia and the aboriginals. Canada and the Inuits. Mexaco & Brazil have had problems with their indians. The former communist bloc countries killed millions. Slavery still exists in parts of Africa and one band of something is alway killing some other band of something. Let's not get started on the Arab countries and their treatment of women, homosexuals and christians. Japan during WWII. China. Cambodia. Vietnam.

She might be one of those people that have problems with overusing punctuation.
Overdoing it: Overuse of punctuation is a marker of weak writing. Consider the difference between the following: Bang! The man fell to the ground, dead; Bang!!!! The man fell to the ground!!!! . . . Dead!!!!! By all means use the full stop liberally, and the comma where necessary. But if your work is peppered with exclamation marks (especially multiple ones), question marks, dashes, colons, brackets or ellipses (. . .), go back and see if you can simplify some sentences.
