The First Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad Doesn't Mention Abortion

UPDATE AT END OF POST: Second one doesn't mention abortion either.

The first of the two Pro-Life Super Bowl ads featuring college football's Tim Tebow and his mother has been made available on the Internet, and it doesn't even mention or refer to abortion.

Steven Ertelt of LifeNews.com posted it a few hours ago; makes you wonder what all the fuss was about.

As you watch, keep in mind that this was the one CBS rejected for airing during the actual game, and will only be shown during pre-game festivities (video embedded below the fold with transcript, h/t Hot Air):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

PAM TEBOW: I call him my miracle baby. He almost didn't make it into this world. I remember so many times when I almost lost him. It was so hard. Well he's all grown up now, and I still worry about his health. Everybody treats him like he's different, but to me, he's just my baby. He's my Timmy, and I love him.

TIM TEBOW: Thanks mom. Love you too.

As Ed Morrissey wrote moments ago:

Besides calling her Heisman Trophy winning son a "miracle baby," the ad never discusses explicitly the heartbreaking choice offered to Pam Tebow during her pregnancy. For that, the ad refers viewers back to Focus on the Family. Just remember that this was the commercial that infuriated feminists when you're watching the GoDaddy commercials and skimpily-dressed women selling beer.

Indeed.

If this is what the pro-abortion crowd finds offensive, they need to get a Life!

*****Update: The second ad -- the one that aired during the actual game -- also didn't mention abortion.

Holy Mackeral Saphire!

That's too hot to handle!

I hope he fails, too.

OMO!!  THAT is the ad

OMO!!

THAT is the ad that had all their knickers in a twist????

Good everloving grief!!

Don't these people have anything better to kvetch about?

guess "their" religion demands they are stupid!

Those that worship "molock" can't stand those that do not.......the slaughter of innocent babies by mayhem is what they are about and they want to hear "nothing" that discourages that!!!

I can see why

I can see why the liberals find this commercial so objectionable.  It closes with "Focus on Family. Focus on Life." instead of "Focus on Society. Focus on US."  How dare they tell people to focus on their own family instead of on society as a whole!  That's just plain selfish.

CBS Rejected

it for the game!!!!???? I was ready to give them some credit for hanging in there. Lots of deception going on with this. I do not have a boob tube so it matters little to their ratings, but I never saw ONCE  that they had done this.

I, too, thought it was

I, too, thought it was going to be shown during the game.

You gotta wonder.....

Is this just a one-time

Is this just a one-time airing of the commercial or will it be shown on other stations (excluding the obvious Fox) in the near future?  I haven't heard, which is why I'm asking.

CBS=Cowards

not to tell the whole story...I'll forgo giving CBS the satisfaction of watching the game. Not in my home. Not worth it...It has nothing to do with making an impact on their outcome of viewers. This is just cowardly. I have better things to do this evening.

Si vis pacem, para bellum

Second commercial?

If the second commercial is the one where Tim tackles his mother...

than Focus on the Family PWNED the liberal media and liberals in general. And CBS, unbelievably, is complicit.

Comedy in the Tebow commercial diluted by prior ad

Unfortunately for the Tebow ad, the Snickers ad immediately before it had Betty White and Abe Vigoda being tackled.

Otherwise, good ad, and now having seen it, hilarious the way the pro-abortion groups overreacted.

This shows how stupiod and

This shows how stupiod and sick pro-abortion group are , in the coming week we should all speak out against them

You know what's really rich?

You know what's really rich? Some of the so-called "feminists" now have their knickers in a twist because Tim tackling his mom "endorses domestic violence".

I guess the same women too fragile to see an ultrasound are also too fragile to roughhouse with their kids? Was Pam supposed to stick to the traditional gender roles and leave her husband to roughhouse with the kid? Should Tim have brought her some nice sparkly pom-poms?

Pam Tebow enrages and frightens abortion advocates for the same reason Sarah Palin does. They can't stand strong, competent women who pursue their goals while nurturing their children. "Feminist" thought holds that women can only pursue their goals over the shredded bodies of their unborn children.

Pam and Sarah also drive abortion advocates nuts because they get people talking about "hard cases". It used to be that the abortion lobby could just hide behind the "hard cases" and pretend that abortion was something women only did out of necessity, in consultation with their doctors. Now we're talking about how doctors push for unwanted abortions on supposed medical grounds. Now we're talking about how to meet the needs of the "hard case" women. And if we can show that we can offer these women better than tears and a shredded fetus in a pathology lab, what happens to the "need" for abortion?

The house of cards is starting to collapse.

What does this mean?

BKeyser, what on earth does your post mean???

Sheesh, I missed the "real" Tebow commercial

I was in the kitchen.

That doritos commercial was hillarious...putting the collar on the guy and then the dog's head in the bag.

I hope he fails, too.

J

It was almost identical to the first one. Nothing at all controversial.

[edit] J- you can see both commercials here: Focus on the Family

(bottom right button)

They simply can't stand the

They simply can't stand the fact that at the end it says "Celebrate Family. Celebrate Life."

Oh AND the fact that it's produced by FOTF!  That's reason enough to attack it.

Pro-choice motto:  Celebrate choice. No, not that choice!

Wonderful!!!!

Thanks chili.

Awesome!

I love it!!!

Really, really, neat, BK---

Really, really, really!!!

Thanks md

I was a little worried about the creepiness factor so I pastel'd the background and added the reflections to soften it a little.

Brilliant Marketing

Fantastic marketing idea... there was so much hype about not having an ad about abortion prior to any ad... they could have run anything... even an ad saying Fooled You... because of all the talk prior to the ad, they really did not need one as all the marketing was done prior to the Super Bowl...all the awareness was already accomplished...and how many people watched to see how good or bad it was going to be?  EVERYONE.... I am laughing my ass off.

Fantastic way to get the message out.

the "pro-abortion" crowd

the "pro-abortion" crowd wasn't offended of the content of the ad, because they hadn't seen the ad until tonight. The uproar is because of the reversal of CBS super bowl ad policy about allowing a advocacy ad.

What did the ad advocate?

What did the ad advocate?

"the "pro-abortion" crowd

"the "pro-abortion" crowd wasn't offended of the content of the ad, because they hadn't seen the ad until tonight"

No, they just pretended to be offended by the content, despite not having seen the ad, lol. Then when called on that nonsense, they came back with the same lame excuse you posted.

Advocacy ad????

Exactly WHAT does the ad advocate?

Nothing that I can see.

PS...no offense, Bob....I posted this probably the same time as you and it disappeared!  LOL

it's only because they made a stink about it that everyone knows Pam Tebow's story.   So now they can claim that the ad is just to get people to go and see Tebow's story, therefor it's an "advocacy ad."

No prob MB

Oh, my. I didn't even

Oh, my.

I didn't even have to read past the headline.

That will probably be next!  LOL

Yup. The "feminists" are

Yup. The "feminists" are upset that Pam Tebow didn't stick to traditional gender roles. She shouldn't roughhouse with her son! That's for dads only! She should wave pom poms. And bake cupcakes. Because that's what moms do. That's feminism, right? Right?

Hit & run?

Hit & run?

wow...what an assault

to the senses!  I can see why liberal baby killers were scared their freedom to continue the murder of babies might be endangered.  The whole stink they created is all part of their inability to be sane.

In fairness to the secular lefts outrage

I think I can understand why the secular left was so upset and threatened by this ad. After all, even such an innocuous and gentle ad dares to suggest that there is something not 100% ok about their holiest sacrement and blood sacrifice. Even though the ad just affirmed a mothers choice and the wonderful results of her life affirming choice and didn't mention abortion.

Sweet revenge

Just perfect.

I hope he fails, too.

Damn, that "Green Police" commercial was scary as hell

And we aren't far from that, really, if we aren't there already.

Keep a round charged, is all I can say.

Thanks, Obama.

 My 11-year-old son and I

My 11-year-old son and I saw that commercial and he said to me " Dad, isn't that what you is gonna happen??"

and I used to love the Audi TT my fovorites car ever ....I am sad to say that after that ad I will never own one.

Even the Bible argees  Psalm 109:8 "Let his days be few; and let another take office."

WTH hell is wrong with

WTH hell is wrong with these people?

For the life of me, I'll never get why they're so upset that there are are those of us who view abortion as murder...not only of that infant but of probably many, many generations to come.

Do they want to be able to have abortions "just in case" for themselves and their daughters?  Have most of them already had one and want to spread the experience of that joyous event?  Is it that they don't want the government telling them what to do? (then why do the same types so readily accept nanny state socialist policies to run their miserable F-ed up lives?).

Don't get it...

"Under Capitalism, man exploits man.  Under Communism it's just the opposite."

"All that Communism needs to make it successful is for someone to feed and clothe it."

RR GOP

The only thing that makes sense to me is that "the Left" has no common guiding principle. It's a bit like a Balkan state, a coalition of single-issue voters united only in 1). getting their way, and 2). defeating the right.

Don't look for logic and "planks" from them. Think how Roe v. Wade became "settled law" once the SCOTUS ruled in their favor. Then recall how their reaction to the Boy Scouts winning case (the right, as a "private club," to free-association) was "this ain't over." Recall also the ongoing fight over Proposition 8, passed by referendum. Has the Left conceded the point? No they haven't! Will of the People is irrelevant to the Left (unless it goes their way). Courts have nothing to do with law to a leftist, and are only omnipotent when they rule in the Left's favor.

Getting their way and winning. They get their way anyway they can. And they'll win elections anyway they can. Don't confuse the issue by expecting rational debate or sound policy from them.

But as recent history has shown, when they have all the power in the U.S. (and, by implication, the world) they're like the dog that finally catches the car; they don't know what to do with it!

Bring on November!

Joy Behar will probably be

Joy Behar will probably be the first to say the ad was either sick, offensive, or stupid. I mean who could forget her recent blunder with Rush Limbaugh? "clearly the people are booing him..." (no booing to be heard). So yeah I think she'll say something about the ad. What do you think?

__________

Shazbot!

"What do you think?"

I think predicting that Joy Behar will say something stupid and offensive is a bit like predicting the sun will rise in the east.

Don't exactly need a Tarot deck for either.

I appreciate NB for posting

I appreciate NB for posting these ads.  They were both informative and all together non controversial.

I saw the game, but not the pre-game.  During the game, what struck me in regards to the commercials, was the constant plugging of CBS' own shows.  Something is not right.  Either they were charging too much for their advertising spots or the economy is so bad that few were interested in advertising in one of the most watched TV events all year.  Regardless of which it is, not showing the Tebow ads during the game, which surely was billed out at a higher rate than either the pre or post game speaks to a dangerous ideological bias that would sacrifice revenue to ensure political correctness.

With the above in mind, the networks will surely devolve into bankruptcy with stunts like this as those on the other side of the politcal aisle, like us, will refuse to view any of their content.  That in and of itself doesn't bother me so long as the alternative isn't a government run multi-channel PBS a la the BBC in England.

The protests over these Tebow ads coupled with the environmental wacko ideal of the world in the Audi ad is just stunning.  Had I known that the Audi ad was going to be shown during the game, I may have decided to just not watch it at all.

I was stunned at the first

I was stunned at the first commercial. The Left, the pro-aboriton movement, desires that this ad shouldn't run? Based on what? The little "choose life" tag-line? Un-bleeping-real.

I guess they won't be happy until all dissent is muzzled in this country. And by "they" I mean the far-left liberal wing of the Socialist Democrat party. And it's a HUGE wing by now.

Wish I was a cartoonist. A bird with an overdeveloped left wing. A turkey, maybe? Yeah, and Thanksgiving is a-comin'!

A very tasteful teaser that

A very tasteful teaser that didn't cram something down a person's throat.  The Tebows showed class and gave guidance that anyone interested could follow for more information by going to the cited websites.  That sure was a whole lot different than the strident in-your-face bitching Planned Parenthood puts out there.

"An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last."  - Sir Winston Churchill

Innocuous

I watched the Superbowl with a male friend who hadn't heard about the Tebow ad controversy.  When the ad aired, I commented, "What on earth was all the fuss about?"  My friend thought there was a fuss about Tim Tebow appearing in an ad impacting his eligibility for the NFL draft, blah, blah, blah.  Typical guy stuff.  Then I explained about the feminists and other pro-abortion groups protesting the ad being shown at all.  He was shocked, especially because he had no idea what the ad was about, even after seeing it.  He asked how anyone could be offended by an ad that didn't have a message, unless you knew the message beforehand.

I think it was much ado about nothing, and, in fact, the libs who protested it gave it much more publicity than they would have gotten by just airing the ad and keeping their mouths shut.  Great job, libs!  Keep up the good work!

Interesting how there are no libs

coming to this thread to admit their overblown reaction was unfounded.  Can always count on a lack of humility from that side.

Well I am just INCENSED...

at the AUDACITY of Focus on the Family to be so "PRO-family"/ "PRO-life". How DARE THEY!

Those DIVISIVE lifers!

What next? A commercial advocating compassion for end-of-life patients??? or abstinence for children? or "love" for their fellow man?

Next thing you know they'll be showing commercials about feeding the poor and clothing the naked!

Those evil, no good Conservative Christians! They are the scourge of the world! They MUST be stopped!
