Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton: The Coffee Summit?

Barack Obama had his Beer Summit.

Will they call a meeting between former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the Coffee Summit?

Such seems possible after Clinton's discussion about Palin with ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday's "This Week."

In fact, the following exchange seems destined to be quite the water cooler subject in newsrooms all over America in the coming days (video embedded below the fold with partial transcript):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS, HOST: While you've been gone Sarah Palin is making quite a splash back here in the United States. Her book "Going Rogue" is about to be released but there are already excerpts out. And she has some kind words for you in the book. She says she was wrong to criticize you last year for whining and now she says that she realized the media was biased when they were talking about your candidacy. And she goes on to say this, to write this.

"Should Secretary Clinton and I ever sit down over a cup of coffee, I know that we will fundamentally disagree on many issues. But my hat is off to her hard work on the 2008 campaign trail. A lot of her supporters think she proved what Margaret Thatcher proclaimed. 'If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman.'" It sounds like she's fishing for a coffee date. Is it going to happen?

HILLARY CLINTON, SECRETARY OF STATE: Well, you know, I've never met her. Look, I'd look forward to sit down and talk with her. Obviously we're going to hear a lot more from her in the upcoming weeks with her book coming out and I would look forward to having a chance to actually get to meet her.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Was the media fair to her?

CLINTON: Well, you know George, I'll leave that for my book if I ever write another one.

It seems a metaphysical certitude that with all the attention Palin is getting with her book coming out, along with high-profile interviews with Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters this week, this exchange between Clinton and Stephanopoulos will get a lot of media focus.

How it will be covered is a different matter entirely.

Stay tuned.

the Hottie and the Nottie

the Hottie and the Nottie-- I'll trust the audience here to determine who's who-- here's hoping Sarah attends the meeting, complete with her 2 best friends, Smith and Wesson-- just to show it off-- so she can show something to the Hildebeest that she's never seen before--

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Establishment

More than ever before, the media-political establishment is living in its own self-created bubble. They assess all issues and events using very narrow definitions.

Two years ago, the knock on Hillary Clinton was that she hadn't done anything that qualifies as presidential experience. Now, she is used as the contrast to Sarah Palin, as if Hillary was the one with top-notch qualifications, and Palin was purely an amateur. And yet, Palin has run a state. What has Hillary done? Although she's nominally the head of the State Department, she's entirely shut out of any real decision making.

Now, you can argue that Hillary may make a better president, and maybe Palin won't. That's not my point. My argument is, when did Hillary become the standard of achievement?

Why meet?

If the two do meet the MSM is going to spin Hillary's way. Why waste the time.

  It would be quite helpful

It would be quite helpful to both ladies to summit.  Hillary needs some positive press and exposure outside of being a hack for obama and Sarah needs a venue where the msm is forced to cover her somewhat objectively because she is doing a friendly sit-down with one of their prefered politicians.  The hate-Palin media types will not want this to happen.

Bill just sent Hill to see if she could get any up-skirt photos during her meeting with Palin.

Maybe I'm out on a limb...

But I am getting tired of both Clinton and Palin.

Who would you like to see more of?

More Biden, more Edwards, more McCain?

Trust me, if you are tired of these two women now, youre going to be dead by 2012.

re: coffee summit

Would be interesting to see them discuss various issues.  Perhaps we would be watching the next pres. candidates chatting over coffee?

BTW, does anyone know if someone other than the sitting pres. got the party nomination for the second term in US history?

The last thing the leftist

The last thing the leftist moon bats and the formerly MSM waant is for these 2 women to meet.

First off it would give Palin street cred. It would legitamize her as being a top tier player. For Hillary, it brings her back to where the action is, not off in the never regions of the world where Bammy is doing his best to keep her off the stage. Hillary sees the indies leaving the dems in droves and is calculating a move to steer them towards her if she should attempt another run.

Let's not forget Hillary mysteriously didn't engage in all the Palin bashing during last year's campaign.

However when it comes to who will profit from such a summit, Palin gets it hands down. Palin has a natural gift of instinct by going by her gut, while Hillary is much more calculating.

Palin meets Clinton. Hmmm.

Palin meets Clinton. Hmmm.

The most interesting aspect might be the White House reaction to the meeting. Palin is Obama's biggest threat right now because she can bring lots of folks under her umbrella with very little effort.

I wonder if this is Hillary's way of slapping Obama around for the way he's undercut and treated her? Is this a very public tactic of distancing herself from Obama and the growing anger he generates from voters?

The plot thickens.

No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

The point is

The big point here is that Hillary as much as said she is now going to have to write another book.

Gotta get that spotlight back somehow...first the jr. sen. from IL does it, then the ex-gov from great white north does it.  Bill's all over the place usurping her creds.  No other choice.  Gotta get back in the game somehow.

The MSM will immediately make that their front page story.

Dear Gov. Palin, You

Dear Gov. Palin,

You have demonstrated the kind of graciousness, sympathy, and trust that could get you killed politically in the future. You have to understand that Secretary Clinton would not hesitate to verbally cut you up in little pieces before and after your coffee klatsch.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

Doubtful...

Clinton has to stick to the liberal playbook to win any high profile debate with Palin. As we have seen countless times, liberalism destroys everything it sets out to fix.

Palin just needs to systematically go down the list of the Left's failures and it will be obvious who the winner is.

Palin isnt really a Republican, at least shes not carrying water for them like HIllary is for the Democrats so Palin can avoid blame for how things have been under the Bushes, while Hillary is left holding the Democrat's dirty laundry.

Its Palin's conservative philosophy that has gotten her where she is today and is what will propel her well beyond where Hillary is.

aero, With all due

aero,

With all due respect, I wasn't referring to Clinton's potential success at defeating Palin in a debate. I was referring to Clinton's demonstrated technique at going for the jugular. I was also pointing out that, whatever they share gender-wise and through experience - Hillary Clinton would be no friend to Palin.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

I thought Palin's comment

about how she was wrong to accuse Hillary of whining about the media was good.  And I also thought Hillary's response was tactful.  I imagine those two women might enjoy a personal chat about the scum media types. As long as they stay away from policy issues they might have a lot to talk about.  I don't recall Hillary ever participating in the Palin bash-fests

 I don't recall Hillary

I don't recall Hillary ever participating in the Palin bash-fests

You're right.  And what Palin said doesn't begin to compare with what the Obamaniacs did to Hillary.  I'm not exactly a fan of Hillary, but there was a time I thought she might be the best pick of the sorry trio of McCain, Obama, and Clinton.  After all, better the crook you know than the messiah you don't.

I think the best thing Sarah Palin could do for herself...

...as well as for America, is to stay as far away from the Clintons, Oprah's, Courics and Stephanopoulos' of this world as it is possible to get.

If she does decide to meet with Broom Hilda, I at least hope she remembers to get her shots first.

Our elected representatives have failed us.

I don't think she'd ever

I don't think she'd ever meet with Hillary.

Lats time Sarah was going to show upat some event Hillary was going to attend, Hillary ran (cancelled).

Remember Palin's classy treatment of Clinton?

Sarah Palin being the class act that she is, reached out to Hillary Clinton during last years election, and was soundly booed for it.  Personally I feel that Palin had the right plan, show civility (something that is sorely missing on the left side of the aisle) but be a bulldog.  Letting the Obama campaign off the hook over Ayers and Wright was a big mistake.
