Michael Moore is destined to really hate capitalism, for his new movie "Capitalism: A Love Story" appears to have totally flopped at the box office.
This comes despite all the gushing and fawning by Moore-loving media members prior to the film's October 2nd release.
Take heart, fellow capitalists, for according to Deadline Hollywood this could be a flop of epic proportions:
Michael Moore's purposefully controversial and politically polarizing documentary Capitalism: A Love Story was distributed by Overture Films and wound up in 7th place. It went wide into 962 theaters this weekend after opening on September 23rd in a limited release of 4 theaters. The pic about the financial crisis made $1.6M Friday and $2M Saturday (+33%) for a $5M weekend and $5.4M cume. Just for comparison purposes: Moore's most recent Sicko did $4.4 mil its opening weekend from only 441 theaters (and that was with him guesting on The Tonight Show and announcing he'd been subpoenaed by the Bush administration for the health care documentary). And his Fahrenheit 9/11 did $23.9M its opening weekend from 868 venues.) So, as much as the left loves Moore, and the right detests him, and he always uses the ensuing controversy to self-promote, the money angle is only what interests me. The fact is that Capitalism: A Love Story looks like its domestic total will fail to crack $20M and end up his worst performing film since his Oscar-winner Bowling For Columbine in 2002.

His book Stupid White Men was on the bestseller list for more than a year. No one can tell me that this wasn't a misuse (i.e., laundering) of tax money and donations to groups from feminists to teachers' unions to ACORN who bought the book to put in coffee shops, in dormitories, women's shelters, and so on.
And it's Soros and his hedge fund managers who have had the greatest hand in wrecking free enterprise over the past 25 years, as part of a Marxist goal for more than 100 years now to destroy us financially. FDR's New Deal and LBJ's War on Poverty were a part of that plan.
But I wouldn't celebrate the bad numbers Moore's movie because when it's out on DVD the lies will be less contested and more easily consumed verbatim by his largely young audience -- a group known for being easily swayed against convention, consensus and common sense, and I think this is where most of the socioeconomic damage is done. The same for Dan Brown's lies-as-fact novels, and Opie's movies based on the same.

The production companies are worse then the cliche' portrayed regarding military contractors when it comes to charging for their services. Even if the movie loses a ton of money, the production companies make money and dirty money is given a chance to get laundered.
That's why the best actors get a cut of the gross instead of a cut of the profit.

Moore is smart enough to know that if he is controversial enough, no matter his methods, he will recieve:
1. Ongoing free publicity from the MSM and liberal politicians.
2. Ongoing free publicity from the people he attacks
3. Awards, or at least nominations, from leftist organizations like the Caen Film Festival and the Academy Awards and others.
Moore doesn't even need to make somewhat "real and entertaining" movies like Oliver Stone. He can just piece together a string of lies and distortions, call them documentaries, and he is on his way to the bank.
I think he'll die a dejected and lonely old man who knows he has perpatrated scam after scam, but in the meantime he lives a lifestyle that he probably never thought possible.

There are two kinds of people who go to the movies; kids who want to see something kewl, and the rest of us, who want to be entertained.
