Fox News Gets First Interview With Dan Rather After His Failed Suit

President Barack Obama might be afraid to go on the Fox News Channel, but former CBS "Evening News" anchor Dan Rather certainly isn't.

In fact, Rather has given FNC's Neil Cavuto the first chance to ask him about Tuesday's court decision to toss out his lawsuit against CBS.

As reported by Mediaite Wednesday evening:

The New York Supreme Court appellate division dismissed Dan Rather’s $70 million lawsuit against his former employer CBS yesterday, and both sides have weighed in. But one person who hasn’t talked yet is Rather himself.

He’ll make his first comments since the dismissal [Thursday] – on Fox News.

Mediaite has learned Neil Cavuto will have the exclusive interview with Rather [Thursday] on his 4pmET show Your World. It will also be on his Fox Business Network program at 6pmET.

As Mediaite pointed out, Rather has done interviews with Cavuto before.

This should be very interesting.

Dan Rather: A fake (but

Dan Rather: A fake (and that's accurate!)

“There are no easy answers' but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.” - Ronald Reagan (1964 Republican Convention)

→ Cavuto - Good choice

I don't care who you are, if you don't respect Cavuto, there's something wrong with your calibration.

Should be a fun interview.  I record "Your World" every day.

Rather might want to take this opportunity to do some damage control on his completely tarnished image.

Opening question:  "Dan, are you running for something?"

I Would Rather Not Watch

Rather has been on Fox before.  He and O'Reilly have the same agent.  Perhaps Cavuto too.  He could have chosen PMSNBC or CNN, but he wanted to be seen and heard.

I think Old Dan wants his

I think Old Dan wants his interview to be seen by people  he needs to convince he was not lying hence FOX. If he wanted to talk to 12 people who believe him he would have gone on the rest of the “news” stations at the same time.

   What!?..... He's back

What!?..... He's back again?  Dan is becoming the Jimmie Carter of network news.  He won't get off the stage.

If See BS deserved to be sued by anyone...

...it should have been by its viewing audience for having kept Danny boy Blather around for so long after it was revealed that his Bush story was bogus.

About the only thing Rather is good for now is being the poster boy for "loser pays."

The question for Rather...re: swift boaters

Here's the question I'd (we'd all) like to see put to Dan Rather.

Mr. Rather. As is true in all presidential campaigns, there are plenty of stories floating around regarding something in each candidate's past. I think that we'd all agree, that in most, there are usually elements of truth from which people get interested in and then involved as more is uncovered.

During the Bush/Kerry race, such existed on both sides of the isle. However, you and a large portion of the mainstream media spent your time defending John Kerry and attacking those who would question him, while you, and many others in the MSM, spent an extraordinary amount of time in your quest to defeat President Bush, on air and in print, with one investigative effort after another. In the end, and certainly most Americans would agree, you lost your job for pushing falsified documents, in this personal effort. In fact, I would suggest that it was nothing more than a partisan political vendetta on your part.

As the left sees the Swift Boaters as something evil, the right sees you and your broad effort in the same light. Why do you believe that you are nothing better than a swift boater, as you see them?

(;~> gary

false equivalence

Dan Rather is not equivalent to a swift-boater.  The swift-boaters pushed allegations that they knew were false.  Dan Rather pushed allegations that he thought were true.  Yes, he did not exhibit a high level of journalistic integrity, but that's a sin found on both sides.

Watches

But he thought they were true -- lightning quick, I might add -- because he was so-hoping they were true.

Don't give this hack a pass, really.

The swift-boaters pushed

The swift-boaters pushed allegations that they knew were false. (sic)

That's bollocks.

Your mendacious statement means you are calling Colonel Bud Day a liar. That's makes you the same as Kerry: a proven liar and all round creep.

I'll stick with Col. Day -- you can have Kerry's biggest "swift boat komrad" supporter, the guy Keery wheeled around like a sack of manure who turned out to be -- that was a child molester I believe?

Liberal nutjobs shouting 'racist conspiracy' to anyone criticising Barack Obama are all WACKY... RACERS

Dan Rather....

pushed "fake documents" to prove something that he knew wasn't true.

The Swift Boaters revealed John F'ing Kerry as the liar and fakir that he always has been.  They were his war mates.  They were there.  They saw him.  They reported on his lies and fake valor.  They don't call him the Winter Soldier for nothing.

F'ing's a lying liar.  Always has been, alway swill be.

I hope he fails, too.

I welcomed this one to NB

Now I'm having regrets. Sigh. Maybe I should let them post for a few weeks first. I'm too nice for my own good. Go Gators! Roll Tide! I'm safe there I believe. ; )

No worries, Ruk

You are a true gentleman....so a heartfelt welcome  is always appropriate.  You have manners, that is always a lovely thing.

It's up to the newbie to be a good or bad person.....not up to you.

LOL, Roll Tide....it is my most sincere hope in the world that we meet you (ALA) in the SECCG.  Because I suspect that may truly be the National Championship.

For sure, we are the two best teams in the nation right now, and all of the ink, speculation, and blather doesn't change that.  Until the first week in December, it just IS!

And I'd never admit it on the Gator boards (they ignore me there, because I've only posted for a year or so).....I am truly pleased that Bama's program is back to form.   When it's a fight to the death...who want's a sissy adversary?  I'd much prefer a BIG MAC DADDY of a Bama team than a sissy team....and I'd imagine you'd feel the same.

That being said, Ruk....who are you going to cheer for this weekend?  LSU or UGA?  I'm pickin' LSU....(hate the Dawgs, but not Dave).

Just sayin'!

I hope he fails, too.

Thanks J

Dawgs vs. Kittys?  Sorry, I am a LSU hater! Sorry to my LA friends. I kinda like the Dawgs, they have given our arch rival Auburn Kittys hell many times! I am going for the Dawgs! Go get 'em Dave!!! : )

And also, yeah, I guess I just give folks a benefit of good will from the first post I see. His was really sounding like he was on our side. Didn't take long to see where that went! Then I felt stupid after reading his other posts. BOB SAGET!  Oh well, I'll learn.

Gats/Tide in Dec. !

" The swift-boaters pushed

" The swift-boaters pushed allegations that they knew were false."

How do you know this?  They were there.  They saw.  They KNOW.   And you?  You heard all about it on CBS, right?

Watches.. check this out - "swiftly"

This one interview ran one time on NBC. Lisa Myers continues to be one of their investigative journalists who will occassionally just put it out there.

She also did one on Gov. Blanco, after Katrina (where all was told - Blanco says on tape, "Oh, my.. I really screwed up. I should have asked for the military, shouldn't I?" - yea might have saved lives)

Same national media reaction with both - silence. Damaging to their common agenda - to their candidates - to what they want the American public to believe  - so they censor it. It's not shown again - there is no interest in the other networks, cable stations, newspapers, etc., following the same story and going after their own interview.

With that in mind; this is a pretty daming piece of an interview. The national media went silent - didn't even bother to go out and trash the Admiral here. Why? Oh, I'd guess that would have turned out bad for them.

Rathers take was fun

Strange man. In summary, he says corp. heads are taking over news programs for their agendas. After 44 years with CBS Neil asks, when did you notice this was happening? Dan says, not until he was no longer there. 1+1=2. Great interview.Dan is done.
