1. Community organizing is a great thing. Quite the contrary, community organizing is little different than ward captains with wads of cash. It's nothing but an exchange: you vote the way we want, and we'll talk to politically pliant congressmen and bureaucrats on your behalf. Simply put, community organizing = political organizing. It tries to turn the poor into a political constituency. Patrick Moynihan debunked the effectiveness of this strategy in the 1960s.
2. Republicans don't care about the poor. Wrong. Republicans do, however, deny that assembling poor people into victim-minded herds is the best way to help.
3. No one will help the poor if ACORN doesn't. After all the liberal promises of the War on Poverty, and hundreds of welfare programs, are they saying that only ACORN works with the poor?  Besides, all ACORN does is facilitate the services of existing agencies -- those agencies are already available to offer services, and we're already paying for them. Also, the Catholic church, along with hundreds of other churches and traditional "social service" agencies, vehemently disagree with the idea that no one else can help the poor. 
4. Politics solves poverty. Yeah, it's been real effective so far, hasn't it?

Ultimately, the premise behind ACORN and all other "community organizing" groups is to politicize poverty, and experience shows that the poor don't benefit ... but the organizers do. One is now president.

The left's definition of "taking care of the poor" means giving them programs and handouts that 1) keep them dependent on the government and 2) keep them poor.  I mean, where would all the jobs for "poverty advocates" go if people actually weren't poor anymore?  That wouldn't be lucrative for some people, so they keep Americans - usually minorities - living in abject poverty to further a political or personal agenda.

The right's definition of "taking care of the poor" deals more with charity, and figuring out ways to make the poor self-reliant and, you know, not poor any more.  And I guess I have a problem with our definition of "poor" when most Americans, even those living at or below our set poverty level, are doing worlds better than the poor elsewhere.

The galling thing about shows like The View and daytime television in general is that they promote the notion that all American women are defacto liberal. While the women who come to this website obviously stay informed about things beyond the mainstream media, I’d like to ask you are your friends the same as you or do they fall for the tripe dished out by shows like the View and Oprah.   I have a vision of a daytime show starring Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and Miclelle Malkin.  They would have guests from across the political spectrum, people with conservative views would not be mugged and they would have real discussions instead of verbal food fights.  Do you suppose it would draw an audience? 

And leftist psychologist hacks have the audacity to claim conservatism is a mental disorder or disease?  These people are clearly sick.  It has nothing to do with their severe ignorance of the subject they're discussing or their woefully fallacious equivocations.

As usual they are 100% backwards in their thinking.  Government and charity is an oxymoron.  The return on government charity is only pennies on the dollar!  Private charities frequently return over 90 cents per dollar donated.  Government receives its money by force creating feelings of ill will.  Private charities receive money out of the goodness and love of neighbor by the donor.  Recipients of government charity form feelings of entitlement.  Recipients of private charity recognize the sacrifice of the giver and formulate deeper sentiments of respect for the giver and the gift.

So you see, government actually robs charity.
