Media Ignore ACORN Giving Business Advice to Pimp and Prostitute

You would think videos exposing representatives of the controversial organization ACORN giving advice on how a couple can get a loan to set up a brothel would be BIG NEWS.

Such would seem especially the case if the proposed house of ill repute would be employing minors illegally smuggled across the border from Central America.

Yet, when Andrew Breitbart's new website Big Government published such videos Thursday morning, media normally fascinated with sex stories almost completely ignored it.

The boycott continued even after several ACORNers were fired as a result (sting videos embedded below the fold):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

  • ABC, CBS, NBC, and MSNBC have not aired one television report concerning this matter
  • The New York Times has not published one article concerning this matter
  • USA Today has not published one article concerning this matter
  • The Boston Globe has not published one article concerning this matter
  • The Los Angeles Times has not published one article concerning this matter
  • The Chicago Tribune has not published one article concerning this matter

Bucking the boycott trend were the Washington Post, the Associated Press, CNN, and Fox News. ABC's Jake Tapper also wrote about this at his Political Punch blog (h/t Paul Chesser).

Not surprisingly, one of the people to report this on Thursday was Fox News's Glenn Beck who opened his program that day:

BECK: Tonight -- these are the things that you have to ask yourself. I have other things going on in the chalkboard. But you have to ask yourself these three questions -- one, how does the media sleep at night? When you see the story that broke this morning, and can you tell me how many hits has this story received on CNN, MSNBC or any other network?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Zero.

BECK: Zero. Zero. How do you sleep at night, media?

How do they sleep, indeed.

Later in the program, Beck marvelously said the following:

You know, our Founding Fathers never intended on the media doing all of the work. They intended on us doing all of the work. And I just -- I mean, I -- the America I thought we had -- I mean, I always thought the media was by biased one way or another. But this isn't biased. This is complicit. This is criminal.

This is criminal what the media is doing right now. And all of you in the media, every single one of you, you should be ashamed of yourself -- ashamed.

When people are risking their life -- you are going to meet somebody who is risking their life to do this.

And you just -- what, you're driving home in your Mercedes, you're driving home in your big car, you got your nice office looking at Central Park, hey, have a good time, don't worry about it. Hey, as long as we sell more windmills, huh? What the hell is wrong with you people?

This story broke early this morning. FOX News has been on it all day. The other networks, the other journalists -- zero. In fact, I have the only ones that are on it, the "National Review Online," "The Wall Street Journal," WBAL Radio, and FOX. Whoa! It's not like there's a big -- it's not like your tax dollars are going to fund ACORN. No, why cover that?

Why indeed?

After all, in the summer and fall of 2006, America's media on a daily basis harped on the word "macaca" as well as electronic messages sent to male pages by a little known Florida Congressman.

Now, three years later, an organization with close ties to the President of the United States had to fire several of its representatives for giving business advice to a couple looking to import under-aged girls to be used as prostitutes, and these same news outlets couldn't care less!

How DO YOU sleep at night, MEDIA?

Noel...

I hear that a lot of the resources still available to these major news organizations are working on some hot tip about some "green jobs czar" or something, who's apparently got some strange connections...or statements...or viewpoints...or something in his past.

What's even more agregious than the MSM not covering something unflattering for the adminstration is this, by the Washington Examiner.

Noel

I have always been an advocate of legalized prostitution, but in this case what ACORN did was very wrong,  1st because the person was a minor and 2nd because there was a likely a abusive pimp involved.

Your right the MSM should give his much more attention, they are just too afraid of offending African Americans, which is a crying shame

I swear sometimes the self-appointed moral police are as obnoxious and demanding of big government interference as "environmentalist" gun control advocates, labor unions and trial lawyers"~fitzfong

ACORN-Obama

Acorn will be Obama's undoing and eventual cause for removal from office. There has to be audio or video of him promoting this same sort of garbage. Just don't look for ABC,NBC,CBS or MSLSD to start doing investigative journalism. It'll be Glenn Beck, the blogs, and talk radio that will turn up the damning evidence....Birth Certificate?.....We don't need no stinkin' Birth Certificate.......

I'm getting my popcorn ready. This is going to be one hell of a ride.

It ought to, but it won't . . .

The MSM will never link ACORN to Obama, and the Democrats will never investigate ACORN while they have control over the Department of Justice and the Congress.

But there is a bright side.   The announcement that the Cnesus Bureau has broken ACORN's affiliation with it is very significant.  Considering that the MSM totally ignored the stories, the fact that this Administration buckled under the pressure is more than a minor victory for the American public.  It means that despite all the attempts by the White House, their allied bloggers and financiers, and the lemming-like MSM, the message is sinking in.

Keep up the fire!

If the city-state's attorney

If the city-state's attorney goes through with this, I think the conservatives need to pull together to build a legal defense fund for James and Hannah.

It's not really a problem

As mentioned elsewhere on NB, this methodology has been used by news organizations like 60 Minutes and NBC news for a long time.  If James and Hannah are prosecuted, then all those other gotcha journalists will have to be prosecuted, too.  I think this is just puffery and won't amount to anything.

But the pregnant "man" is REALLY BIG news

But the pregnant "man" is REALLY BIG news

five months from now

NYT will publish an apology for missing this story.  Explain they were short staffed and then proceed to ignore it some more.

NYT short staffed

LOL!  You've called them out in advance of the lie.  Nice job.

Re Short-Staffed

Yeah, they're short-staffed because so many of them volunteered for Obama's replacement-9/11 program.

Shame

To wonder how they will overcome the nausea that accompanies such distorted and corrupt behavior ... you have to assume that they feel that nausea in the first place. To date, they've shown no sign of shame.

Shame requires self-reflection. They don't have either.

That's why all the media protestations of objectivity and political neutrality are to be dismissed without a moment's thought. Their behavior objectively proves them wrong. They're corrupt.

Just sent this to NYT and MSNBC...

Hey “Journalists”,

I just love your coverage of the videos of ACORN’s Baltimore, MD and Washington D.C. offices helping a pimp and prostitute purchase a house in order to import 13 – 15 year-old girls from El Salvador to work as child prostitutes and also how to cheat the government out of taxes.  Damn fine work!  It’s just as good as the Van Jones’ background story you covered last week!  Real professionals you’ve got there!

Oh wait…you didn’t cover the Van Jones story and are not covering this ACORN story?

Silly me…

Free markets at work

Fox News Channel, Breitbart, Rush Limbaugh Glenn Beck, etcetera are providing the information that many information consumers are looking for and thriving.  NY Times, Newsweek, Time, WaPo, ABC, CBS, & NBC are all loosing customers because they aren't.  Which, I'm guessing, may explian why they don't like free market solutions to problems.

Fuzzle,

When you cut-and-paste from Word or another program, hit the "Text" toggle on the task bar, and paste your text there first. That will remove the HTML codes that you're importing.

The "Text" toggle is the one with a "T" in it just next to the upside-down horseshoe.  ns

A couple should try it again

A couple should try it again now at a new office, see just how ridiculously brazen Acorn are.

Give Us A Break

You folks on NB just don't understand we are VERY busy "covering" the obamanure administration.  You just don't understand how difficult it is to cover up such a large amount of corruption, lies, and communisim.  Reporting on such bad behavior would only make it more difficult to serve our masters in the WH.

Scornfully,

How DO YOU sleep at night, MEDIA?

I'm going to go with....what is throwing back some Captain Morgan with Prince Valium for it all Alex.

Oh, come on now!

Not ONE post from a resident apologist for the MSM?
