On August 5, Congressman Brian Baird (D-Wash.) likened recent town hall meeting protesters to Nazis:
"What we're seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics. I mean that very seriously."
On Tuesday, at such a political gathering in Vancouver, a Marine Corps veteran named David William Hedrick blasted the Congressman for this disgraceful depiction.
What follows is a video from this town hall meeting in Washington state that every person in America -- especially those on the Left and their media minions who continue to shamefully besmirch average citizens for having the nerve to oppose the government takeover of healthcare!!! -- should be required to view (h/t HotAirPundit via Hot Air):
"I, David William Hedrick, a member of the silent majority, decided that I was not going to be silent anymore. So, I let U.S. Congressman Brian Baird have it. I was one questioner out of 38, that was called at random from an audience that started at 3,000 earlier in the evening. Not expecting to be called on, I quickly scratched what I wanted to say on a borrowed piece of paper and with a pen that I borrowed from someone else in the audience minutes before I spoke. So much for the planned talking points of the right wing conspiracy."

Over 10 years in Congress, U.S. Rep. Brian Baird has stayed tethered to his district, flying back to Southwest Washington for more than 300 sometimes-bruising town hall meetings during Congressional recesses.
But this year, he's literally decided to phone it in.
Instead of appearing in person, where "extremists" would have "the chance to shout and make YouTube videos," Baird said Wednesday, he's holding what he calls "telephone town halls" instead.
Baird said he's using the new system because he fears his political opponents may be planning "an ambush" to disrupt his meetings, using methods Baird compared to Nazism.
"What we're seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics," Baird, D-Vancouver, said in a phone interview. "I mean that very seriously."

A few minutes ago I sent a respectful but strong Letter to the Editor to our state-wide newspaper saying that if these two refuse to hold a public forum in the state and THEN vote in favor of the Health Care bill, there will be a citizen outcry the likes of which has never been seen in the state.
The citizen engagement in this issue has been one of the most amazing and hopeful developments I've seen for a very long time.

August 23, 2009 - 20:49 ET by pbthinkerMost of these congressmen/women are used to having fund-raisers and rigged campaign stops, they're just not used to anyone expressing an opinion different from theirs, what are they going to bring back to the District of Columbia? By rushing this legislation, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have hung these people out to dry for a month. Now, by threatening to use the nuclear option to pass this bill, they're just riling up people more.
Now we have Obama flip-flopping away on the public option so the Democrats don't know what to stick their neck out for. You have to wonder how many Greyhound Buses Obama has lined up for these Democrats before this legislation gets passed. Hell, he's pulled out all the stops except actually taking questions from people that oppose his bill.
Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.

Reminds me of the following I received from a friend a couple days ago:
Luxury Cars have always been beyond my means but I took out a luxury car last week, just to drive that sucker. The salesman sat in the back seat describing the car and options. The leather seats were of particular interest. He explained that the seats directed warm air to your butt during the winter and directed cool air to your butt in the summer heat. I stated the car must be a Republican car. He asked why I thought that, and I explained if it were a Democrat car the seats would blow smoke up your ass year round.

I'm just pointing out that at least this he listened even when he didn't like what he was hearing. Many of the other politicians simply talk over their opponents or insult them afterward.

The only point to be made is that the brown shirts were the liberals in Germany and not the "Old School." The Patriotic, Socialist, Labor Union Party that ran Hitler for Chancellor had a Party political platform very much like Brian Baird's own. Of course Hitler was more racist and much more patriotic than the Congressman. What difference is there between the Black Panthers who Obama just freed after their convictions for voter intimidation and the German brown shirts of the nineteen thirties? Some served the NAZI Party and the others the DNC. Only a racist sees other differances.
The Congressman can not be completely absolved of his Party's use of brown shirts on the people protesting Obamacare.
