NewsBusters' Sheppard Speaks At San Francisco Tea Party

  • Bookmark and Share

For those wondering just how strong the sentiment being expressed at Tea Parties and town hall meetings is growing throughout the nation, consider that about 1,000 people turned out to demonstrate against ObamaCare Friday in one of the most liberal cities in America...San Francisco.

That's right, a Tea Party in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Cal.) own district.

Speakers included KSFO's Brian Sussman, and California Republican Party Vice Chairman Thomas Del Beccaro.

Also in attendance, and speaking to the crowd without a microphone due to problems with the sound system, was NewsBusters' own Noel Sheppard (video embedded below the fold, Sheppard appears at 7:10, h/t Michelle Malkin):

Later that day, another Tea Party was held across the Bay in Danville, California, where a group of about two hundred so-called "angry mobsters" greeted Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Cal.) as she attended a book signing at a local bookstore:

NB's Sheppard was in attendance, and provided radio coverage for KSFO during Brian Sussman's show.

PipeLineNews.org has more pictures of the San Francisco event. Pictures of the Danville event are available here.

As a final aside, we could not find coverage of the San Francisco event in that city's largest paper, the S.F. Chronicle. Color us unsurprised.

*****Update: Another video has been provided covering the SF event courtesy PipeLineNews.org (Sheppard appears at 2:00):

Sheppard appeared at these events as a private citizen and not in an official NewsBusters.org or Media Research Center capacity.

Next week....nationwide Recess Rally.

Win one for the Gipper, 'ey

Win one for the Gipper, 'ey Noel? Nice job keepin' 'em fired up!

A PICTURE IS WORTH A 1,000 WORDS...

The sign in the photo is the best effing thing I've seen in a long time. "Obama-Care...It's shovel ready" with the freshly dug grave is off the charts. If the GOP has any brains, they would borrow this sign & use it.

"...How blind can you be, don't you see...

...that the gambler lost all he does not have..."

Nightwish

Definitely organized, definitely astroturfed

That is the response from the MSM and talking tards.

Good job Noel.  It looked like the crowd was into it and looked fairly large, huge if you take into account that it was in San Fran.

I particularly liked the sign taped to the squeegee.  American ingenuity at its best.

Yeah, definitely

Yeah, definitely organized!

The real "grassroots" effort  <Scroll down to OFA email>
has  names, phone numbers, office hours, location of congressional offices, pre-printed, customizable letters: in short, mass-produced, ready-to-go protest kits! Everything but free transportation!

I HATE that logo

For the amount of money they spent for that logo they could have done better than that!

I am sure there are some other sites that they can find free transportation.

Yup, N.S.

Yup Noel, you got it goin on, way to go.!!~~!! Them lib-tard-turds have stirred up a hornets nest and it's fun to watch em slappin and stompin and kickin but they're gitin stung anyways.!!~~!! I hope the momentum last and when congress comes back in session the folks take the "crap & tax" legislation and make the "dimocraps" stick it where the sun never shines, course the dims will have to git their head outta the way first.!!~~!!

I am now officially jealous of another Tea Party.  ;-)

My conservative brothers

My conservative brothers and sisters, this is a prime example of why we must remain strong, and keep up the fight!

Sadly, I saw some who are already caving to the Flag@Whitehouse.gov by restricting what they say for fear of being on "Obama's List!" If this fear causes us to back down and not act, then Obama and the left have already won!

Lets continue to fight these Statists with their own tactics...by attending Townhalls and Tea Parties AND BEING LOUD!! Screw their cries that we must show decorum! They didn't...neither should we!

Lets also continue to take the fight to them in the arena of ideas! We had a great example of this, this past week by none other than Sarah Palin in her great Facebook article correctly identifying Obama's "Death Panels!" This was so effective, the Dems are now going to take this provision out of the Bill. She has them on the defensive...and so can we!

These Marxists must be defeated!

Bravo Noel!

That hasn't stopped me from

That hasn't stopped me from posting anti-"reform" remarks on Facebook, and I know for a fact that roughly 1/3 of the people on my "buddy list' there aresupporters of the Bill.

Guys and Gals are getting shot at in Iraq and Afghanistan for our Freedom, so I'll be Damned if I'm going to be scared of e-mail!

Amen! And thanks for your service! God you Bless you folks and keep you safe!

These Leftists are not used to seeing consevatives fired up, and this has them terrified! There protests are always bogus an artificial. This conservative reawakening is genuine...and they know it!

Seriously, does the left look confident? Consider the following:

1. President Obama is doing a "Road Show" to try and sell this disgraceful ObamaCare. If he were confident of its chances, would he be on vacation about this time?

2. The Dems are resorting to calling us Nazi's, Terrorists etc. Seriously, if we as conservatives were hurting our cause, wouldn't they just let us shoot ourselves in the foot?

3. They have to send union thugs and ACORN to try and counter our TownHall ObamaCare protests. Does this spell confidence on the part of the Dems?

4. They're still going after Rush and Sarah...nuff said!

These Leftists are cowards and they feel us at their heels. Their actions indicate one thing...FEAR!

Thanks again Free for your service!

It could be back firing

Sven,

There are a lot of us who are flagging ourselves.  I am sure the fruit loops at the white house are perplexed by the number of individuals who are ridiculing and parodying the whole concept.

I know that they keep getting HR 3200 sent to them as a "fishy" document.  That along with YouTube posts of T One and others at town hall meetings trying to convince the people that shooting pepper spray in your face every hour is a good idea.

That site is not slowing anyone down and if you check out PJTV and Michelle Malkin you will see that there is a conservative offensive against it.  I just might copy this and flag myself again.

Sven

Thanks again Free for your service!

No need to thank me, We should all thank THE TROOPS instead.

What a tangled web we weave

Does anyone else not find it funny that a so called reporter on this site is participating and speaking at partisan rally?  Mr. Sheppard would be the first to cast a stone at any reporter who attended a left wing rally.  What would he say if Chris Mathews spoke at a Moveon.org event? Adding this does not make it right:

"Sheppard appeared at these events as a private citizen and not in an official NewsBusters.org or Media Research Center capacity."

So if Chris Mathews was to attend a partisan rally as a private citizen, that would make it right?

Obama's a Community Agitator, a walking, talking destroyer. ~ Rush Limbaugh

Sterling~

No, it is NOT the same thing.

Okay, you really are serious. I'm stunned. So in addition to my other comment, I must now add this: HIS "BIAS" IS TOWARD MEDIA BIAS. There is no conflict of interest. He is not a news reporter. He's not a news anchor. He is not responsible for reporting news to the American people with no bias...his job is to sift through all the media who are not doing their job in JUST REPORTING THE NEWS BUT ARE INSTEAD SLANTING IT/TURNING THE OTHER WAY AND NOT REPORTING THE NEWS AT ALL -- BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN LIBERAL BIAS.

He quoted USA Today at this rally -- again, reporting media bias. Get it? He can be anywhere, with anyone bringing up bias in the media. He can write all about it. NO CONFLICT. NO PROBLEM. You are mixing up what his job is vs. what the job of those at NBC/CBS/ABC/USA Today, etc. are SUPPOSED to be doing -- reporting the news and not being lapdogs.

Georgia Girl

Thanks Georgia Girl. And something for our resident dumb martyr:

    Chris Matthews Biography

A television news anchor with remarkable depth of experience, Matthews has distinguished himself as a broadcast journalist, newspaper bureau chief, Presidential speechwriter, and best-selling author. Matthews covered the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first all-races election in South Africa and the Good Friday Peace Talks in Northern Ireland.  In 1997 and 1998, his digging in the National Archives produced a series of San Francisco Examiner scoops on the Nixon presidential tapes. Matthews has covered American presidential election campaigns since 1988, including the five-week recount of 2000.  In 2005 Matthews covered the funeral of Pope John Paul II.

In March 2004, he received the David Brinkley Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.  He has also been awarded The Abraham Lincoln Award from the Union League of Philadelphia and in 2005 he received the Gold Medal Award from the Pennsylvania Society.

Matthews worked for 15 years as a print journalist, 13 of them as Washington Bureau Chief for The San Francisco Examiner (1987 - 2000), and two years as a national columnist for The San Francisco Chronicle, which was syndicated to 200 newspapers by United Media.

Prior to that, Matthews spent 15 years in politics and government, working in the White House for four years under President Jimmy Carter as a Presidential speechwriter and on the President’s Reorganization Project, in the U.S. Senate for five years on the staffs of Senator Frank Moss (Utah) and Senator Edmund Muskie (Maine), and as the top aide to Speaker of the House Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill, Jr. for six years.

Matthews is the author of four best-selling books, including American: Beyond Our Grandest Notions (2002), a New York Times best seller.  His first book, Hardball (1988) is required reading in many college-level political science courses.  Kennedy & Nixon (1996) was named by The Readers Digest “Today’s Best Non-fiction” and served as the basis of a documentary on the History Channel. Now, Let me Tell What I Really Think (2001) was another New York Times best-seller.

A graduate of Holy Cross College, Mr. Matthews did graduate work in economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Matthews also worked for two years as a trade development advisor with the U.S. Peace Corps in the southern African nation of Swaziland.

Chris in his own words: I have been interested in national politics since I was five years old. My main concerns are the role of the federal government in our daily lives and the role of America in the world. My main ambition as a journalist is to cut through the public relations and find the truth in what politicians are saying and doing.

Sterling~How are we to KNOW?

Uh...you mean besides how he includes the ACTUAL TEXT so we can all read it? And videos we can play as examples of media bias? You mean besides how he includes verbatim quotes? Oh, and besides how you can look up anything he has ever given us as fact and see it is -- in fact -- fact?

You mean besides all that? Oh, and he can give his opinion about the facts. Yes, he can.

Sterling~

Are you serious? Please tell me you are not serious and that you understand the difference. Noel Sheppard is NOT a news (working in the media) reporter. He is not part of the MSM. He works for Newsbusters and the Media Research Center -- to expose liberal media bias. No conflict of interest. No lack of professionalism.

Come on spill the beans

Now I am being threatened with banishment because I have a dissenting voice, sounds very untea party to me?  I digress, I still think he needs to explain his actions if he is to have any credibility.  He goes on network shows as an expert on bias but he is engaging in the same behavior that he accuses others of.  I used the Chris Mathews example precisely because he comes from the liberal side of the issue.  He makes no secret of his liberal leanings, he is a commentator; how is that any different?

→ Sterling

Where do you get the notion Noel has presented himself as other than conservative?

You won't be banished for being ignorant. You won't be banished because you have a dissenting view -- get real. See all the dissenting views on here? And you can't be banished for being a putz, unless in being a putz you break one of the posted Newsbusters rules.

P.S. Matthews can give his opinion all he wants in commentary blocks. But when he is reporting the news in the straight (hard) news stories, he can't -- or he's being biased.

Sterling

This is the oldest troll tactic in the book!  An attempt to belittle one of the contributors to the site.  Childish and silly, and extremely lame.

Sterling, if this is the best you've got, it's time to hang it up, son.

We need a better class of troll, here. ©

I hope he fails, too.

It is all about facts

I am not belittling anyone.  All I did was ask a question; it was a valid question.  I did not attack Mr. Sheppard; I merely wanted him to clear the air.  The article left a lot of ambiguous information out, was he there interviewing people as a Newsbusters contributor, like the last sentence said, and if it was no big deal why did Newsbusters need to feel that they had to put a disclaimer at the bottom?  These are questions anyone with the tad bit of curiosity would ask.

Good God! Are you this dense?

HEY, HEY!!!!  LOOK AT ME MR. EDITOR!!!!!  HEY!!!!

Clear the air?  Puhleease.

Let me explain this to you, troll boy.  Noel is one of the Senior EDITORS here.  A contributor.  As such, he has discretion to put up fun stuff, occasionally....like the weekend Sports Thread, a fun bunch of videos on a boring weekend evening....or whatever the hell else suits his fancy....or that he thinks would interest us.

Very obviously, NS believed a video of his participation in a San Francisco Tea Party Rally would interest us.

You are quite obviously reading impaired.  Noel was there reporting for a RADIO STATION.  Not for NB....silly troll.  He included this piece for our amusement and enjoyment.  But as is the case with piece of scum trolls like you, you must derail the thread and piss us off.  So congratulations, you've succeeded in your goal.

I for one will cheer your NB demise.  Keep up your trollish behaviour here, and I will not even remember what a sorry excuse for a troll you were in six weeks.

You are dismissed.

I hope he fails, too.

Sterling--Nope, wrong.

No, I'm not going to let you get away with this. You did not belittle him? Or attack him? Do you understand the meaning of those words, or shall I give you the dictionary definitions?

Here's just one thing you wrote:

"Mr. Sheppard has shown his bias and now he is no longer a relevant author.  How are we to not know what he takes out of context to promote his agenda?  This whole thing smells funny to me."(STERLING)

Yeah, sure, that doesn't in any way claim his integrity is at stake -- or belittle (meaning "disparage") his character or professionalism. No, not at all. If you don't understand the meaning of the word "disparage," let me know, and I will break it down for you. Stay tuned for how you "attacked" him.

Sterling~Nope, wrong again.

Well, I didn't have to go far. Here is a subject header you hastily typed up:

"In my opinion, this is a major ethical scandal"(STERLING)

That's an attack. If you are confused, get a dictionary. So yes, you did both -- belittle and attack.

P.S. You left the comma out in your header, so I kindly put it in for you. You're welcome. :)

It's actually an amazing thing to be a part of, especially from the "stage". You really get to see the faces, the signs, and the passion.

These are just regular people angry about the direction of the country willing to take off from work or whatever else they were doing to speak out and be heard.

The one we had in Danville later in the day was also amazing walking down the streets of this small town with cars honking in both directions. America at its finest.  ns

ns...

It's times like these that you and others share with us that makes one wish they could have been there also...but are so thankful we can see/feel what happened later and somehow still feel a part of it.

...anyway I do.

As an aside, I'm listening to the Chief Campaigner campaign at the moment in Denver...the last questioner was asking what can be done to those of us out here and on the right side of life in the msm, FOX and talk radio people like Rush/Beck/Levin/Malzberg/Hannity etc for spreading MISINFORMATION...nah, he wasn't a plant now was he?

Obama is still whining and droning on with his repsonse....it is sickening, disgusting, how dumb do these people really think we are?

how dumb do these people really think we are?

Been Flagged yet? If not, try harder.

Pelosi, Reid and Barbara Boxer nailed it!

The videos show a well-dressed angry mob that has obviously been manufactured by the radical right, carrying hate-filled signs, and chanting the mantra of the extreme radical far-right movement: Pledge of Allegiance.

The rally was disruptive and anti-American, and absolutely disgusting to watch. However, I was impressed with the articulate young man in the white shirt who appears in the first video at 7:10.
