For those wondering just how strong the sentiment being expressed at Tea Parties and town hall meetings is growing throughout the nation, consider that about 1,000 people turned out to demonstrate against ObamaCare Friday in one of the most liberal cities in America...San Francisco.
That's right, a Tea Party in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Cal.) own district.
Speakers included KSFO's Brian Sussman, and California Republican Party Vice Chairman Thomas Del Beccaro.
Also in attendance, and speaking to the crowd without a microphone due to problems with the sound system, was NewsBusters' own Noel Sheppard (video embedded below the fold, Sheppard appears at 7:10, h/t Michelle Malkin):
Later that day, another Tea Party was held across the Bay in Danville, California, where a group of about two hundred so-called "angry mobsters" greeted Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Cal.) as she attended a book signing at a local bookstore:
NB's Sheppard was in attendance, and provided radio coverage for KSFO during Brian Sussman's show.
PipeLineNews.org has more pictures of the San Francisco event. Pictures of the Danville event are available here.
As a final aside, we could not find coverage of the San Francisco event in that city's largest paper, the S.F. Chronicle. Color us unsurprised.
*****Update: Another video has been provided covering the SF event courtesy PipeLineNews.org (Sheppard appears at 2:00):
Sheppard appeared at these events as a private citizen and not in an official NewsBusters.org or Media Research Center capacity.

August 15, 2009 - 11:05 ET by SvenMy conservative brothers and sisters, this is a prime example of why we must remain strong, and keep up the fight!
Sadly, I saw some who are already caving to the Flag@Whitehouse.gov by restricting what they say for fear of being on "Obama's List!" If this fear causes us to back down and not act, then Obama and the left have already won!
Lets continue to fight these Statists with their own tactics...by attending Townhalls and Tea Parties AND BEING LOUD!! Screw their cries that we must show decorum! They didn't...neither should we!
Lets also continue to take the fight to them in the arena of ideas! We had a great example of this, this past week by none other than Sarah Palin in her great Facebook article correctly identifying Obama's "Death Panels!" This was so effective, the Dems are now going to take this provision out of the Bill. She has them on the defensive...and so can we!
These Marxists must be defeated!
Bravo Noel!

These Leftists are not used to seeing consevatives fired up, and this has them terrified! There protests are always bogus an artificial. This conservative reawakening is genuine...and they know it!
Seriously, does the left look confident? Consider the following:
1. President Obama is doing a "Road Show" to try and sell this disgraceful ObamaCare. If he were confident of its chances, would he be on vacation about this time?
2. The Dems are resorting to calling us Nazi's, Terrorists etc. Seriously, if we as conservatives were hurting our cause, wouldn't they just let us shoot ourselves in the foot?
3. They have to send union thugs and ACORN to try and counter our TownHall ObamaCare protests. Does this spell confidence on the part of the Dems?
4. They're still going after Rush and Sarah...nuff said!

Okay, you really are serious. I'm stunned. So in addition to my other comment, I must now add this: HIS "BIAS" IS TOWARD MEDIA BIAS. There is no conflict of interest. He is not a news reporter. He's not a news anchor. He is not responsible for reporting news to the American people with no bias...his job is to sift through all the media who are not doing their job in JUST REPORTING THE NEWS BUT ARE INSTEAD SLANTING IT/TURNING THE OTHER WAY AND NOT REPORTING THE NEWS AT ALL -- BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN LIBERAL BIAS.
He quoted USA Today at this rally -- again, reporting media bias. Get it? He can be anywhere, with anyone bringing up bias in the media. He can write all about it. NO CONFLICT. NO PROBLEM. You are mixing up what his job is vs. what the job of those at NBC/CBS/ABC/USA Today, etc. are SUPPOSED to be doing -- reporting the news and not being lapdogs.
Georgia Girl
August 15, 2009 - 18:31 ET by MrShyThanks Georgia Girl. And something for our resident dumb martyr:
Chris Matthews Biography
A television news anchor with remarkable depth of experience, Matthews has distinguished himself as a broadcast journalist, newspaper bureau chief, Presidential speechwriter, and best-selling author. Matthews covered the fall of the Berlin Wall, the first all-races election in South Africa and the Good Friday Peace Talks in Northern Ireland. In 1997 and 1998, his digging in the National Archives produced a series of San Francisco Examiner scoops on the Nixon presidential tapes. Matthews has covered American presidential election campaigns since 1988, including the five-week recount of 2000. In 2005 Matthews covered the funeral of Pope John Paul II.
In March 2004, he received the David Brinkley Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism. He has also been awarded The Abraham Lincoln Award from the Union League of Philadelphia and in 2005 he received the Gold Medal Award from the Pennsylvania Society.
Matthews worked for 15 years as a print journalist, 13 of them as Washington Bureau Chief for The San Francisco Examiner (1987 - 2000), and two years as a national columnist for The San Francisco Chronicle, which was syndicated to 200 newspapers by United Media.
Prior to that, Matthews spent 15 years in politics and government, working in the White House for four years under President Jimmy Carter as a Presidential speechwriter and on the President’s Reorganization Project, in the U.S. Senate for five years on the staffs of Senator Frank Moss (Utah) and Senator Edmund Muskie (Maine), and as the top aide to Speaker of the House Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill, Jr. for six years.
Matthews is the author of four best-selling books, including American: Beyond Our Grandest Notions (2002), a New York Times best seller. His first book, Hardball (1988) is required reading in many college-level political science courses. Kennedy & Nixon (1996) was named by The Readers Digest “Today’s Best Non-fiction” and served as the basis of a documentary on the History Channel. Now, Let me Tell What I Really Think (2001) was another New York Times best-seller.
A graduate of Holy Cross College, Mr. Matthews did graduate work in economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Matthews also worked for two years as a trade development advisor with the U.S. Peace Corps in the southern African nation of Swaziland.
Chris in his own words: I have been interested in national politics since I was five years old. My main concerns are the role of the federal government in our daily lives and the role of America in the world. My main ambition as a journalist is to cut through the public relations and find the truth in what politicians are saying and doing.

August 15, 2009 - 18:05 ET by Georgia GirlUh...you mean besides how he includes the ACTUAL TEXT so we can all read it? And videos we can play as examples of media bias? You mean besides all that? Oh, and he can give his opinion about the facts. Yes, he can.

He goes on network shows as an expert on bias but he is engaging in the same behavior that he accuses others of. I used the Chris Mathews example precisely because he comes from the liberal side of the issue. He makes no secret of his liberal leanings, he is a commentator; how is that any different?
