Has CNN banned talk radio show hosts from its on air programming?
Such was reported by TVNewser a few hours ago (h/t Steve Malzberg):
Exclusive: TVNewser has learned, and a CNN spokesperson confirms, that in his morning editorial meeting today, CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein asked his show producers to avoid booking talk radio hosts. "Complex issues require world class reporting," Klein is quoted as saying, adding that talk radio hosts too often add to the noise, and that what they say is "all too predictable."
According to Newser, folks like Lou Dobbs, Bill Bennett, and Roland Martin are exempt.
What's responsible for this decision?
Stay tuned.

Complex issues require world class reporting
August 11, 2009 - 16:01 ET by allanf... so we certainly cannot turn to CNN. Wolf Blitzer is almost on a loop in his loopy "Situation Room". Constantly repeating the latest talking point with "At this hour ...."

Ban Radio Hosts -- But Keep Taling About Limbaugh
August 12, 2009 - 12:01 ET by allanfI take it CNN intends to keep on attacking Rush Limbaugh while formally banning him from responding. Just this morning, hostess Robin Meade accused him of ginning up Nazi references without explaining the role of Speaker Pelosi.

I heard that as well this morning.
CNN has a need to remain in last place regarding the ratings, now that is really bad when the likes of msnbc beats them.

I just turned in Obama to the snitch website, said he was telling fibs at hos town-hall this afternoon.
Did anyone else think Obama wasn't on his A-Game? Sounded a lot like gibberish.

August 11, 2009 - 14:29 ET by KC MulvilleCNN has every right to put on whoever they want, for whatever reason they want.
But if they want us to take them seriously, they have to take us seriously. Don't hand us silly explanations. Don't pretend that talk show hosts ruin conversation, and then book political spinners like Begala and Carville. When you give broadcast time to openly partisan political strategists for one party, but exclude other points of view, you can't possibly expect anyone to believe you.
Begala and Carville were shouting a long time before Hannity.

World class reporting?
August 11, 2009 - 14:48 ET by mattmWorld class reporting? That's a pretty low standard.
I would think they'd want to improve their journalistic integrity, not lower it even more.

Talk Radio Adds To The Noise
August 11, 2009 - 15:29 ET by BourbeauIf Jon Klein is so concerned about cutting back on the noise, why doesn't he start w/the likes of Jack Cafferty - talk about on-air pollution.

How about Larry King?
August 11, 2009 - 16:15 ET by SlyrrLarry King started off as a radio talk show host, and I think he still does that. How about banning him - see how he takes to it?
Doesn't matter anyway I guess. The american people, slowly but surely, are 'banning' CNN simply by refusing to watch this failing network.
What a coincidence
August 11, 2009 - 16:30 ET by jdlybrandIt has been confirmed by yours truely that CNN, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and ABC have been been banned from my television. And Couric, Lauer, Matthews, Olberman, Gibson, Williams, Matthews, Sawyer, Sanchez, Maddow, Schultz, and a host of other Obama butt-lickers have been declared 'persona non gratis'.
"What a revoltin' development this is!"

Is this an April Fools joke
August 11, 2009 - 17:48 ET by ckc1227Is this an April Fools joke sprung early, or late? Surely they can't be serious. Hey, if they want to ban opposing views, more power to them. But don't lie about it, and pretend it's something it isn't, lol.

August 11, 2009 - 18:22 ET by GothampcWill CNN ban talking about talk show hotsts? As many bad things as they have said about Rush, they should not talk about talk show hosts.
