Unless you've been asleep for the past couple of weeks, you're quite aware that CNN's Lou Dobbs has been taking a lot of heat for his reports concerning Barack Obama's birth certificate.
Never reluctant to stand up for himself, Dobbs on his radio program Tuesday took aim at those in the media who are "trying to silence their opponents and their competitors in the public marketplace of ideas," in particular MSNBC's Rachel Maddow who he referred to as a "teabagging queen."
What follows is a YouTube audio of some of his comments, along with a partial transcript:
The left is trying to silence their opponents and their competitors in the public marketplace of ideas... One issue in which the ethnocentric issue groups have been trying to silence me is on the issue of illegal immigration. Many of those, if you will, have migrated to me here recently because I, even though I said I believe the President is a citizen of the United States, I don't understand why he shouldn't produce a birth certificate. My God, you're talking about the third rail of American journalism, baby! That's it. I'm not going to back off. [...]
And teabagging queen Rachel Maddow over at MSNBC, she wanted another shot so apparently she twisted, she tried to twist my words. She ignored my statements on the issue. In other words, she was not being intellectually honest. Imagine that. [...]
She lied. I never said I'm a 'birther.' I'm not. I don't know how many times I've said, 'Barack Obama is a citizen of the United States. Why not release your birth certificate?' What is the big deal with saying that?

Teabagging...
July 29, 2009 - 00:10 ET by SayAnythingin any sense... doesn't apply to Rachel Maddow. Hello!
Anyways, doesn't Lou know that he just played right into her hand and now she can laugh at his fat-face for behaving exactly like she presumed he would react? Angry, pittiful and laughable. Its part of the Rachel Maddow Show playbook. Where she basically gets her fun out of whatever token conservative does that get's her giggling on her show.
Lou, you should have known better.

Dobbs is a big boy. I think he welcomes continued sniping from Maddow; it probably helps his ratings.

The same BOR?
July 29, 2009 - 05:36 ET by Kingfish17Is that the same O'Reilly, who when answering an email from Canada which inquired why Canada's average life expectancy was higher, even under Canada's socialized medical system, responded:
"Well dear Canadian viewer, Canada's average life expectancy is higher because the United States has ten times more people then Canada, and that means ten times more accidents and such resulting in accidental deaths!"
He said this with a straight face.
(And no, I personally do not want socialized medicine. But lately, the more I watch BOR, the more my opinion of him goes down.)

So, are you saying that
July 29, 2009 - 06:58 ET by rimskySo, are you saying that population density has NOTHING to do with ALE?
I'm not a statistician, are you? I'm just curious.
→ Life expectancy
July 29, 2009 - 07:10 ET by Cool ArrowI wouldn't think the sizes of the populations would be that important once you get into the millions.
The percentage of elderly within each population, gun laws, narcotic use, drinking habits, driving habits, sun exposure, and time spent safely indoors away from the cold, would probably influence statistical differences more than population density.

Canada Death rate 7.61
July 29, 2009 - 08:52 ET by USA4freedomCanada Death rate 7.61 deaths/1,000.
USA Death rate: 8.27 deaths/1,000
Black population of Canada 2.5%
Black population of USA 12.8
Average life span of White males in USA 75.3
Average life span of White females in USA 80.5
Average life span of Black males in USA 69.0
Average life span of Black females in USA 76.1
Canada's population of 31,612,897
USA black population 36,600,000
Sooooo do you think that having a population that is MORE..then all of Canada, with a death rate of about “5 years less” just MIGHT change the numbers???
If fact to look at these numbers its looks like we are doing a much better job with health care!

July 29, 2009 - 09:03 ET by MazziYou just broke the cardinal rule of statistics. NEVER show all of them. That might get people thinking, and the point of statistics is to SWAY people into whatever position you hold, not to actually use their gray matter.
Oh, and don't you know you are not allowed to use black statistics? We are supposed to pretend that there is NO difference between races ever, ever, ever. (Unless of course, you are "of color" yourself and are trying to get your hands on some government money to fix the problem.)

Population Density
July 29, 2009 - 15:11 ET by Kingfish17Population density may influence average life expectancy. That's not what BOR said, however. Total number of people in a given country shouldn't have anything to do with the average.

America has a higher auto
July 29, 2009 - 13:57 ET by ckc1227America has a higher auto fatality rate than Canada, and we have a lot more drivers. They have about 3,000 deaths each year, the U.S. has about 40,000. Not sure if that was his point, but it is a contributing factor.
His answer may have been dumb, but it was no dumber than the question.
And speaking of Canada's life expectantcy, I think it's less than 2 years more than ours. It's not like they're living to 100 and we're dying in our 50's.
Average Life Expectancy vs. Numbers of Deaths
July 29, 2009 - 14:55 ET by Kingfish17The total number of deaths contributed to one factor does not matter when you are considering averages because you always have to look at the total pool involved. You could say, that Canada has a higher life expectancy because on average less people die in auto accidents then the United States. This would be true, citing your example, if the total population of Canada was greater then the 3/40 ratio you cite above.
My understanding of the lower life expectancy in the United States has allready been stated above in other posts. We still have a large immigrant inflow, both legal and illegal, and those groups tend to bring the life expectancy rate lower.
The United States also high a much higher infant mortality rate then most developed countries. This is because we actually go to great lengths to try and save premature and underweight and other high risk births, and if they don't make it, they are counted as a death here, and that greatly lowers the "average". In other countries that don't go to that effort, they don't count the zero year old baby as a "death".

July 29, 2009 - 16:32 ET by celatorrpeeler, your question--where is the bc?--is not going to go away, because Obama's bizarre behavior on the issue is keeping the fires going.
The only conclusion a rational person can draw from that behavior is that his US official birth certificate does not exist. There isn't one. Nada. Period. It doesn't exist.
A big clue is the behavior of the Old Useless Media toward those who are asking the questions: mockery. This is a dead giveaway for me.
The forgeries (ala Kos) and "certificates of birth" are the typical rookie tricks Obama has played all his life. He's always gotten away with this sort of dance. Not this time.
As to the other Obama personnel records.. college diplomas etc etc etc. I don't believe they exist, or would be quickly proven as complete forgeries ifbrought forth. He won't present them because they don't exist. What other conclusion can we draw?
Until he comes forth with these documents (like the rest of us would have to do), I don't believe he graduated from any university, he certainly isn't a lawyer, he is not a citizen of the US.
What is he? He's a completely made up character, with a totally ficticious biography, a stooge of who knows who, who cannot utter three coherent consective sentences without a teleprompter in front of his eyeballs.
And he will be discovered. It's happening fast. Once the middle of the road democrats realize he is destroying their political party, they will kick his butt out come next election.
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

July 29, 2009 - 23:33 ET by The7SticksThat's what is ruining America: the hard left and the hard right, which these two commentators represent. Okay, fine, Maddow is a Teabagging Queen, and Dobbs is a Wingnut Birther King. I don't want to have it that way.
Dobbs is hard

July 30, 2009 - 22:55 ET by misterbillYou can tell me to buzz off if you will but you are doing exactly what most of us conservatives complain about. You are misstating what Dobbs has said. I am not a Dobbs defender--it's just that I am reading the same type of response here that the Libs like to use.
Dobbs did not say that Obama is not a citizen. It's a stretch to call someone a "birther" whose position is--"I believe you to be a citizen. Why don't you just show your birth certificate and close this out".
The Dems are playing games with the "short form" versus "long form", etc.
And I wondered why until I read two great posts today. Withholding the birth certificate is an excellent ploy to make a lot of conservatives--look like conspiros--even when they say that Obama is a citizen and they just want him to present his BC like the rest of us would have to do.
Personally, I am not too interested in seeing it, or pursuing it. I feel we play into the Liberal hands when we continue in this, but I believe folks do have a legal right to see it if that's what they want.
I think this whole issue
July 30, 2009 - 23:01 ET by Radical1979I think this whole issue plays into Obama's hands because he'll never get ousted over this, meanwhile it distracts from all the legisation he has and is trying to push through.
