UPDATE AT END OF POST: FNC's Julie Banderas responds as do others.
Did you know that if you're Hispanic and work for the Fox News Channel, you're a sellout?
Well, that's what CNN's Rick Sanchez amazingly believes.
Inside Cable News discovered a few rather interesting tweets by Sanchez on Friday which are sure to raise a few eyebrows -- especially from Hispanics working at Fox (h/t NBer Thomas Stewart):
if i didn't believe in doing right thing, i'd be rich anchoring at fox news
do u know how much money i'd make if i'd sold out as hispanic and worked at fox news, r u kidding, one problem, looking in mirror
me? what? i live in burbs, wife, four kids, dog, turtle.. two jobs... yeah... i'm a real rich guy, right?
@lomeinie fox in prime time is not news, not even close. i'm a newsman. where's the paradox?
@Garfug he asked if fox gave me a million. i say no where near enough
Readers should be advised that this is the same man who blamed Fox News and conservative talkers for the cop killings in Pittsburgh back in April, and earlier this month asked if Sarah Palin was resigning as Alaska governor because she was pregnant again.
Yeah, Rick...you're a "newsman."
Exit question: regardless what he's making, who thinks Sanchez is WAY overpaid?
*****Update: FNC's Julie Banderas responds via Twitter (h/t Hot Air) --
As a wise Latina woman, I have no comment other than to say...
...if I were Rick Sanchez, I wouldn't look in the mirror, period.
*****Update II: Steve Krakauer reports (also via Hot Air) --
A Fox News spokesperson tells Mediaite: “Everyone knows that Rick is an industry joke, he shows that he’s a hack everyday. And he doesn’t have to worry about working at FOX because we only hire talent who have the ability to generate ratings.”

Amazing these so called
July 25, 2009 - 13:47 ET by LiberalliesAmazing these so called opened minded idiots of the left.
So, if you are a Latino, much like myself, who is a Conservative, then I am a sell out?
So, I guess they want Latinos to be part of the mass thinking.
Latinos like Rick Sanchez are an embarrasment.
Truly sad that CNN would higher a man that murdered someone back in 1990.
I DON'T GET LEFTIST LATINOS...
July 26, 2009 - 18:34 ET by danybhoyLiberallies,
It goes beyond him being a Latino, he was born in Cuba, & he's a big lib. It does'nt make sense to me, supporting people who seem to want to kiss the ass of of thugs like the Castro brothers in Cuba, the Ortega brothers in Nicaragua, Chevez in Venezuela, & Morales in Bolivia. These are the leftist thugs who have been oppessing the Spanish speaking peoples of Latin America. Throw in the FARC in Columbia & the PRI in Mexico as well. There is a very sad history involving leftists in Latin America, & being born in Cuba, you would think Sanchez would get it.
I view liberal/progressive Cubans the same way I view liberal/progressive Jews, as idiots. Usefull idiots actually. When you support those who are against your own kind, you are a moron. The worst part is these folks don't even understand what they are up against, & they don't understand why they have the freedoms they have that make their lives as they are possible.
Rick Sanchez is a piss-poor newsman, he looks the part, but that's about it. He is lucky to not have gone to prison when he killed a guy in hit n' run DUI in Dec10,1990, if the victim Jeff Smuzinick had died that night, instead of 5 years later...jailtime. Count your blessings Ricky, you got away with killing another man, you have a gravy gig at a cablenews channel, & you suck at it, & left a communist craphole because your parrents had the sense to leave Cuba. You have everything & more then you ever would have in Castro's Cuba, it saddens me to see that you don't understand that.

Re Left Latinos
July 26, 2009 - 21:27 ET by slickwillie2001This is one of my frustrations as well. In my opinion, Mexicans are leaving Mexico because of many decades of left-wing and socialist governments there. So why do they vote for the left when they come here?
Mexico should be as affluent and civilized as Texas is. Mexico is rich in natural resources and populated with hard-working people, and is in fact older than the USA in many ways. The reason they are not is bad left-wing government.

What gives this fat, incompetent drunken clown the idea that Fox News would hire him in the first place...even for free, forget making him "rich"? CNN must scrape their "journalists" from the s*** cling-ons in the toilet...the scrap heap, they're all that's left after FNC takes all the good ones (and Geraldo). And by the way, if I was as physically repulsive as Rick Sanchez, I'd have trouble looking in the mirror, too.

So little Ricky.....
July 25, 2009 - 14:12 ET by Gecksthinks that Hispanics that work for Fox News are sell outs? Does that mean he plays color politics? Why of course it does.
I'm sure that little Ricky believes that every Hispanic should be dancing round in colorful costumes, eating beans, rice, and Tamales, and singing La Cucaracha. Grow up Ricky, some people generally want more in thier lives than just the status quo. They are willing to work hard to rise above the others. Willing to put in the hard work and sweat it takes to get the best for thier families. On the other hand, there are those that are willing to just sit back let the others do the work while they wait for the check every month.
Which one are you Ricky? Are you the type who will work hard for what you have and fight vigorously to keep as much of it as possible, or are you the type who wants to take from them to give to the slackers? If you're the later Ricky, then step right up and sign your house away to the government so they can give it to someone who isn't willing to work for what they get. Why not? You're obviously smart enough to make enough money to buy another one. Then you can open up your savings and retirement accounts to be emptied to pay for the health care of up to 15 million Illegal Aliens that are here.
If this is the America you want Ricky, then step right up, you first. You, George Soros, Ted Turner and all other of your ilk (bleeding hearts). Empty your wallets and accounts before the rest of us and then tell us how you like it. Then you might be able to convince the rest of us how glorious it is to work for the common good.

The new credentials CNN claims to have all came when they were the only game in town. Since they've had competition, they've gone downhill. Now they're just another of the Alphabet Networks, which gives them zero credibility.

July 26, 2009 - 00:39 ET by cwnelson79Hey Rick, you are already a sell out. You choose to be a far left loon over supporting your own country. You don't want what is best for America, and thus have no moral ground to stand on. And Bashing a more popular , higher rated, news channel, will not change this. Plus Fox would never hire you, they choose talented people.
Maybe he is trying to get street cred with illegals, who knows? Or maybe it is just more liberal diarrhea spewing out of his mouth. July 26, 2009 - 01:01 ET by mostlymoderateI thought we couldn't stereotype? Sanchez is stereotyping hispanics as all being liberal-thinking left-wingers that want a socialist form of government full of handouts and who want to stick it to 'whitey'. In other words, Sanchez is under the false impression that ALL hispanics believe the repugnant beliefs someone like Sotomeyer possesses. This man is surely mistaken. I know plenty of hispanics that love Fox news, love America, hate welfare, hate illegal immigration, detest affirmative action and don't support Obama.

Speak English
July 26, 2009 - 15:56 ET by facA week or so ago, Sanchez used his mom’s house in Miami (a former US city) as the backdrop for his interview of three “wise Latina women”. Luckily, Sanchez was able to translate for his mother because she spoke NO ENGLISH. Did she just arrive from Cuba recently? What a wonderful country we live in where you can reach an unimpeded level of success and even become a citizen without ever uttering a single word in the language of your new country. When I hear Sanchez’s mother (and others) speak no English, I hear a woman who has no interest in communicating with the citizens of the country that has opened its doors to her and her children.
The left needs this isolation to keep Hispanics in the dark since the only source of information comes from Spanish-speaking news outlets or the hearsay stemming from them. Last time I voted in Miami the registration was in three languages. If you cannot understand English well enough to negotiate a voter’s registration application, how can you intelligently understand the politics of the country? The left needs this and therefore do not want to make English our national language or require immigrants to attain a proficient level of English before becoming a citizen.
As a true Hispanic (I did not have to take Salsa/Merengue lesson on my 50th birthday like Sonia did), I am proud of my heritage. I am not saying that immigrants should reject and forget their roots, on the contrary, but learn the language and assimilate the culture of the country that just saved you ass/future. The majority of Hispanics have a conservative mentality, until they come to the US, thanks to people like Sanchez, who is indeed the real sellout.

July 26, 2009 - 20:25 ET by stunnedtired of liberal lies
Was at a family reunion not long ago and my husband's cousin and her husband were there along with his parents. I had a long discussion with them about Cuba and discovered that when they fled Cuba she was 5 months pregnant with my cousin's husband along with his older sister they arrived here with 1 suitcase and $50 and spoke almost no english. They told funny and sad stories about family left behind and proudly of the life they made here for their 5 kids and 14 grandchildren. They are retired, own two homes and both worked most of their lives according to their son. The have no use for Obama. They spoke english with only a slight accent and from what I seen of the Cuban community Sanchez's wise latinas do not represent that community.
