Well done
July 22, 2009 - 15:06 ET by well99That video did a excellant job showing the pitfalls of Obamacare.
Don't forget what ObamaCare means for innovation
July 22, 2009 - 20:40 ET by needleI agree, but there is also the matter of innovation, which might seem to be of secondary importance relative to the points made in this video.
See: ObamaCare would at best limit procedures, prescriptions, and policies to what is tried and true. Experimental approaches to particular medical problems, especially extenuating situations which call for “thinking outside the box.” are without mandate. Seeking new and better solutions to thorny problems will NOT be encouraged; those sorts of things cost money (where is that going to come from?) “We can’t allow Joe to get special treatment; if Joe gets it, then everybody will demand it." The bureaucrat would lose control. Chaos would ensue. No. no, no; it’s not authorized. Innovation is quashed. Progress is retarded.
This mentality is inevitable with bureaucrats. Innovation is precisely what free markets promote, and what socialized medicine stifles. This is probably rather hard to quantize but I feel strong that a disproportionately large amount of medical innovation in the treatment of practically all medical issues has come out of the USA. The absolute worst contributor was Soviet Russia.
There is always the need to reduce medical costs. In free market medicine this is accomplished by competition and innovation. With Socialized medicine this is accomplished by rationing. Socialized medicine never gives innovation a chance. The benefits of innovation are small at first and come at a cost. But if they are never given a chance, they never get to accumulate and build up to the point where they completely overwhelm the crude and crass benefits of rationing. In the long term this could become very significant, because socialized medicine strangles to death the market driven engine of innovation to reduce costs creatively.

July 22, 2009 - 15:11 ET by jessieHI don't think obamacare is even legal. Remember Bell Telephone? The govt made them break up because it was a monopoly. Well, isn't obamacare a monopoly? For the people, by the govt., and of the people. Just doesn't sound right.

Legal? It will be legal if Obama says it will be legal.
July 22, 2009 - 20:46 ET by needleHaven't you noticed? Rules (made by liberals) are meant for managing and regulating others; they are meant to be broken by Liberals.

Welcome to Obamacare
July 22, 2009 - 15:37 ET by Gary HallNoel. That is priceless.
A few weeks back, on these boards, I noted a trip to the US Post Office. The short of that experience was, that as I found myself in a stationary line of 20-25 folks - with two postal employees caught in some time warp behind the counter, my eyes met with another set of seeking eyes in front of me. Finding them wanting, and comfortable enough, I offered, "welcome to the future waiting rooms of Obamacare." It was very well received, however, there was a non-believer behind me.

July 22, 2009 - 15:43 ET by jdhawkVideos you and your elective representative will never see.
Meanwhile, here is a video from Pajamas Media that debunks the 46 million figure that dimocrats bandy about. http://www.pjtv.com/video/Washington_Watch/___ObamaCare_%26_the_Crisis_of_the_Uninsured_-_A_Message_of_Hope_or_Hype%3F_IBD_Analysis/2104/;jsessionid=abcD6BvX2DWSa4iAcjKks.
The conclusion of the above video is that there are about 25 million without a health care plan. Yet, we are going to spend anywhere from $1 to 1.6 TRILLION dollars to "remedy" this situation. Note, none of the above 25 million are without healthcare. It is illegal for a citizen to be refused health care. If a hospital does so, they can be sued and lose their charter to operate. Ask yourself, when was the last time you ever heard of this happening? I never have.
Pick up your phone, e-mail, or write your elected representative and tell them that you do not want more government health care. What there is, which makes up about 50% of health care now, is making us sick.
"The conclusion of the

And only about a third of them are chronically unable to pay for their own health care plan; the other 2/3 could, but choose to spend their money elsewhere....most likely because, as you posted, they know they can run to an emergency room and get treated, no matter what.
By the way, what's ironic about that video is government actually tried their hand at running a restaurant....they failed miserably, and had to turn it over to a private, for-profit owner. But yeah, they can run the entire health care industry.
Hey Gary Hall, speaking of the Post Office...
July 22, 2009 - 16:09 ET by nolotrippenThe USPS now has an ad saying how you don't have to worry about trying to figure out how much the shipping is with the other guys (different time zones, etc.). If everything fits in the USPS box, you only pay one fee, no matter the weight, no matter the destination.
What we have is a goverenment agency (still a monopoly when it comes to delivering certain packages like letters), which doesn't have to answer to market pressures (the USPS is not allowed to make money, though it can lose it at will), and can hostily compete with private enterprise in a way that would be seen as predatory if it were done by Microsoft or Japan.
And I want these same bloodsuckers handling my health?
nolotripping along..

What's the problem.. fixing anything in the box will be the same diagnosis, the same price, the same waiting period, and the same chance of surviving.
Now moving along from the practice of Obstetrics to say, brain surgery...

This needs to be on FNC
July 22, 2009 - 18:42 ET by Mr. MikeThis needs to be on FNC along with a few others I've seen. This is the kind of stuff that gets people thinking.
Several people at my work thought I was a FNC robot during the election and Obama wasn't "that bad". Well, now they've started to watch FNC because they've realized the State Run Media was lying to them all along!
How to talk me out of Obamacare
July 22, 2009 - 20:30 ET by Keith PhillipsJust watched ABC news and they had George Stephanopoulos on talking about the health care vote and why it was so important to get it done before the August break. His two reasons just hit me wrong as they did nothing to further the plan except:
1. Previous Presidents got some major bills through before the first August break.
2. The Administration did not want Congress to go back home and have their voters talk them out of voting for the plan.
The second reason seems to me that the Administration knows that the American People do not want this and they just want to ram it down our throats.
Those reasons alone would make me against the bill, let alone that for all the reasons listed on NewsBusters during the last few weeks.

They didn't do too well with a house of ill repute in Nevada either, did they.
Another comment was that if the Government does it, it isn't a monopoly. Well, I guess if the Government does it, it isn't a Ponzi scheme either. (SS)
