Black Chamber CEO Blasts Boxer for Being 'Racial', Will Media Notice?

Photo of Noel Sheppard.

With all the media focus this week concerning the confirmation hearings for Sonia Sotomayor, the woman who could become the first Hispanic member of the Supreme Court, it will be interesting to see if anyone notices a confrontation that happened Thursday between Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Cal.) and Harry Alford, the CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce.

During a hearing concerning the American Clean Energy and Security Act -- cap and tax to you and me -- Boxer for some reason chose to add to the record statements from the NAACP as well as the group 100 Black Men of Atlanta.

Alford took offense to this saying that the Senator was being "condescending," "racial," and it was "God awful" for her to pit the statements of other black groups against him (video embedded below the fold h/t Breitbart):

Will this exchange get much attention from news outlets in the next 48 hours, and if so, how will it get reported?

How will this get reported?

I'm waiting....Crickets...

If a Republican Senator says this: All 3 networks scrambling to get this out as the lead story on the nightly news.

I can see it now.... ____

I can see it now.... ____ (fill in Republican) accused of racism by leader of black group.

Or.. ____ attempts to pit blacks against each other in clean energy discussion.

I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows.  -Bart Simpson

These democrats are the

These democrats are the biggest slime-bag crooks.  At least a mugger has the decency to go right up to your face and pull a gun before he steals your money.

Boxer and Democrats have been doing this for decades now - hiding behind black men and putting words in their mouths to pimp thier bad laws.

No one in America 'voted' for cap-and-tax.  No one in America 'voted' for the govt. to take over schools, the energy industry, or the medical industry, or the banks, or housing, or GM or anything else.  But they're doing it.  And because Obama 'won' the election, they're hiding behind his win and using it to say 'this is what the American people voted for'.

It's pathetic and infuriating.  To sit there and watch these scumbags like Obama, Barney Frank and Boxer lie through their teeth when they've been caught red-handed, only to see them get away with it because the media are all their slaves.

Boxer did the same thing - taking the testimony of one black organization and saying that because THEY support her idiot taxes and stupid ideas, that ALL black men should.  To hear her sneering condescention when this black guy rebuffed her was an outrage.  She talked to him like he was a stupid child, and he had every right to be angry.

In a sane world, Boxer, Frank and Obama would be run out of town on a rail.  Instead, they tread the halls of power with impunity, covered up in their lies by Chris-Thrills-In-His-Pants Matthews.  Trouble is brewing people.  Their taxes and their ideas are unsustainable, and in due time, a reckoning will take place...

"In a sane world, Boxer,

"In a sane world, Boxer, Frank and Obama would be run out of town on a rail."

Did you forget about the tar and feathers?

Of course not - she is a liberal Democrat!

The media has remained silent on Democrat scandals and Democrat foot-in-mouth disease for many years; of course, it will not be reported!  Mrs. Boxer is a liberal Democrat, so, naturally, the press will be obediently mute...

nothing to see here folks,

she is an arrogant self aggrandizing bitch!

Alford nailed her,

Alford nailed her, IMO...

If he was white, she would not have offered differing opinions from the black community, as she called them.  She obviously thought that since he's black, she had to offer opposing black opinions.  In other words, she's making a point that not all other blacks think like  him. And what does being black have to do with clean energy anyway?

Once again, the party that supposedly doesn't dwell on race, goes to great pains to drag race into a discussion.

I didn't think it was physically possible, but this both sucks and blows.  -Bart Simpson

Great Points, Motherbelt

Once again, the party that supposedly doesn't dwell on race, goes to great pains to drag race into a discussion.

The liberal world view is based on class and race. It's "elite" liberals like Barbara Boxer who practice Plantation Politics.

Exactly.  He nailed her.

Exactly.  He nailed her.  A black man talking about clean energy and she carts out rebuttals from other black organizations.  As if to say, other black people don't agree with you, now go home man who hasn't erned the title of U.S. Senator.

Maybe

I wonder if he called her ma'am instead of senator.

He Certainly Did!

Watching the video will show you Alford called Boxer "ma'am" several times.  No objection though this time from the "Senator".  Apparently she can rip only the military when they call her "ma'am".  After all, she's "earned" that Senator title.

Well spotted -- and after

Well spotted -- and after Obama's pitch this week, we can all call him "ma'am" too!

Obama Lied... Jobs Died.

 She knew Alford had her

She knew Alford had her number, and had no respect for her whatsoever. Like the rest of us.

No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

   did you notice her

did you notice her saying "Sir" ...the way she said it you can see why she didn't want to callrd "ma'am"

she said it in such a condesending tone....to them being called Sir or Ma'am is insulting because you can't even stand to say the name of the person you are talking to

God i hate them

FINALY A REAL CANDIATE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!

Great Point

Hopefully that video will make a great campaign ad for her opponent.  She has to be a twit.

Hopefully, she'll have an

Hopefully, she'll have an opponent.  The last two times, the California Republican Party hired escort services (by the names of Matt Fong and Bill Jones) to essentially hold the Senate Chamber doors open for her.  Chuck DeVore, the only announced opposition, is making the rounds and appeared on the Jason Lewis program yesterday.  With any luck, he'll continue to up his game so he creates more resistance than the average speed bump.

He had her and she knew it.

He had her and she knew it. You could hear it in her voice.

A number of times she

A number of times she pronounced some words REAAAAL slow, like she was talking to a dimwit. I'm positive he noticed it, too.

Too good to pass up.

Oh, I think this will get plenty of play on Fox News.  Not ABC, NBC or CBS.  But it's too good to miss.  I'm surprised Rush hasn't brought it up.  And as someone said on another site, you can GUARANTEE MSNBC has been put on damage control alert, with dirt being dug up on this gentleman.

(Sort of on/off topic: was watching Shepard Smith's newscast yesterday and he went into commercial with a tease that after they would "examine the controversial appointment of Czars by President Obama"  and he just couldn't help but talk to himself on camera as it pulled back "controversial? I don't see anything controversial about it."

He just did. "Fighters

He just did.

Nicely done, Mr. Alford.  Put that elitist, condescending b**** in her place.  And thank you sir for your service to our country.

As usual, Boxer was setting

As usual, Boxer was setting up a dishonest straw man argument by representing that the NAACP and the Atlanta group somehow speak for all African-Americans on this issue...she was trying to be clever in her wording, but that was clearly her intent.  Mr. Alford, recognizing this attempted manipulation, properly cuffed her.  Well done, sir!

By the way, if I'm not mistaken, Boxer read something into the record that suggested that "green" "jobs" were increasing at a faster rate than other jobs in the private sector...and she entered that statement as little more than a positive non-sequitur.  If that information is true, that is hardly a good thing.

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."  -George Best

"In Califorina"

That increase was, apparently, happening "in Califorina," which is why that state is in so much financial trouble, I would say. "She even alluded to as much with her admission tht this was due primarily to the "laws on the books," laws that punish "no-green" energy users with excessive taxes, thus driving companies out of business, leading to MASSIVE lay-offs.

Sure, those "green' jobs appear to be increasing faster than other, but only because employment in the other sectors are hemorrhaging jobs on a daily bases.

That's exactly what I

That's exactly what I meant.  She tried to frame the relative increase in "green" "jobs" vs. real jobs as a positive thing...like when MSNBC tried to claim that it was the "fastest growing" cable news network.  When your ratings are at a statistical zero, one new set of eyeballs will increase your percentage growth at a much greater rate than those eyeballs will increase Fox's percentage growth.  But the real concern is how many legitimate jobs are lost for each "green" "job" gained.

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."  -George Best

Not to worry

if you lose your job to a "greenie" you can kick back for 3 YEARS !!!! and collect unenployment thanks to the Messiah

Chamber of Congress? You mean Commerce..anyway..

This guy ROCKS! He nailed that yenta from Brooklyn.

As if the words of NAACP must mean something to the black man...

I'm sure some of her best friends are black. LOL

I wish he would have said "we have a report from every Jewish man who ever saw you that you are an annoying whining liar, must be true, eh?"

Hey Boxer, how did that setting up a cockfight thing go?

Man, what an epic smackdown! I wish this guy had been questioning Sotomayer.

And this bitch has the nerve to say SHE is married to a veteran after Alford informed her that he was, among other things, a veteran. WTF does that have to with anything?

As for that crap she was 'entering into record', since when did the NAACP become environmental experts?

She may as well have insisted on entering a menu from Frank's Pizzeria into the record; would have been just as inappropriate.

She is certainly...

...an idiot, plain and simple. He chewed her up and spit her out!

"What a revoltin' development this is!"

Chester Riley

She sure seems like a Racists!

She sure seems like a Racist!

When he asked why she doesn't quote an Asian, her immediate response was "no."  Hay, Senator, why didn't you quote an Asian, or any other "minority" when confronting a black man, one who's opinions differ from yours?  Why did you resort to quoting another "black" group?

Also, why DIDN'T you "invite them" to testify as Mr. Alford points out?  Could it be that, by "entering into the record" a peice of paper, you AVOID any possible cross examination of the people you're quoting?  Could it be that you're AVOIDING debate and public examination of the "resolutions, "findings," and "quotes" you're presenting as evidence?  I would have to conclude that you are!

Hay, Senator, if you insist on entering "quotes" into the record, then you MUST, for the sake of inclusiveness (the liberal's favorite term these days), allow those people you're quoting to define AND defend their positions in the same manner as the man you're confronting here.  If it is advisable to have a witness available for testimony over ANY statement or opinion in a court of law, then it is just as advisable to have that witness present during a "court of law making," as I like describe these types of proceedings.

In other words, if you require testimony as part of the law making process, then that testimony MUST be made in person.  No resolution" or written "opinion", no "quote"  will suffice, unless the person you're quoting is dead and unavailable for direct inquiry.

I heard about this on Rush

I heard about this on Rush while taking care of business today, found the video and am still smiling from ear to ear....Alford is my newest hero!

He is the only the second person I have ever heard hand it right back to Boxer....plus I loved how he said 'ma'am'...anybody else catch that...let alone him saying he was in Ca. before she was ever there...oh I could go on and on...I am so tickled pink...he spoke for millions of us regular folks out here, let alone plenty of other blacks too that are sick of being stereo-typed but their voices are never heard in the msm as a whole....unless they have a 'D' behind their name...like the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, Al Shapton, Sheila Jackson Lee, Bobbie Rush... etc etc.

Hip-Hip-Hooray!

Made my day!

Btw...dontcha just love how she still vilifies the big bad oil companies....Exxon here in this instance...as Ca. goes broke and won't allow of-shore drilling...what a gal, what a pal to Ca. she has helped destroy my home state, and I still pay property taxes there too.

Why was this guy even there if he's not a rep from the NAACP?  People like this Libtard make me embarrassed to be white and are the reason along with their black racist counterparts that we still have racial difficulties.

But, this guy belonging to the National Black Chamber of Commerce makes him somewhat of a racist in my view.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

Have to contradict those Republicans...

I believe Harry Alford is a Republican.  It's not surprising that the tool Boxer would try to contradict his statements.  Spread this video around as far as you can and as fast as you can.  It's time to show the shameless hypocrisy of Democrat agitprop.  Every Republican in the Sotomayor hearing is a racist?  B.S., here's a perfect example of real racism.

She  brought race into the discussion by referring to "evidence" she was "admitting into testimony" from the NAACP (The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and, don't forget, the statement by the CEO of "100 Black Men of Atlanta Group"  If that's not a reference to race-based organizations, if that;s NOT a reference to Mr. Alford's race itself, then I don't know what is.

Remember, Mr. Alford mentions that he represents the "Black" Chamber of Commerce AFTER she injected race into the proceedings!  That's make HER the instigator here, not him.

Does that make it any clearer for you?

It's obvious to anyone with a brain...

It's obvious to anyone with a brain that she was trying to refute the testimony of a Black man by entering into the public record "resolutions" and "statements" by other Black people.  In doing so, she was insinuating that only a black person may refute or disagree with another black person. Hence her "no" comment when he asked why she didn't offer testimony or statements made by a member of another race, like Asians.

In other words, she depends upon RACE as a determining factor as to who can offer competing ideas and/or testimony.  That makes her a racist whether she realizes it or not.

Boxer is exposed for the nasty race baiter that she is.

Boxer wasn't being friendly at all.

Alford called her on her transparent ploy.

True

And it was funny seeing her trying to back pedal while being called a racist to her face by a black man.

That had to burn.

I hope he fails, too.

So....

Since she can put the NAACP etc. as a diverse group(s) with a different opnions on record why not the KKK if they had an opinion?

Alford had every right to be angry. His group at least had a legitimate right to be on record since this bill will affect businesses that are probably members of the National Black Chamber of Commerce.

This a Senator?

own worst enemy

Boxer is a good example of how political correctness and worshiping at the diversity altar can confuse oneself.  She is so 'Californian' that she can't really think straight.  She was attempting to present herself as racially sensitive to the man's needs and attempts to show how 'aware' she is of the issues.  In doing so, she becomes condescending and yaws toward her own form of reverse racism.  She becomes, in fact, what all those California liberals want her to be instead of being just herself.  Irony and paradox collide and Boxer loses one electron too many.

Our own Tom Blumer

Our own Tom Blumer deconstructed and corrected the Pew Report that Sen. Boxer refers to in the video.

Pew Project Director Kil Huh posts a rebuttal to Mr. Bumer's article.  Mr. Blumer then responds to Mr. Huh in a real life David vs Goliath dust up.

Boxer should be publically ostracized for her bigotry and stupidity... not that that would happen, of course.

Three cheers for Mr. Alford!  If only our politicians had the same courage, and integrity we wouldn't be in the pickle we're in now financially and culturally.

Lovin It

Only 121 of 535 Members of the current Congress have ever served in the military. Comparable numbers are 398 in 1969 and 298 in 1979.

Perhaps all of you saw the article last week about Barbara Boxer admonishing a Brigadier General because he addressed her as Ma'am and not Senator before a Senate hearing. Anyway this is a letter from a Guard Aviator and Captain for Alaska Air Lines. He hits the nail directly on the head. Maybe all of us should send a copy of this letter to the SENATOR?

Babs:

You were so right on when you scolded the general on TV for using the term, "ma'am," instead of "Senator." After all, in the military, "ma'am" is a term of respect when addressing a female of superior rank or position.

The general was TOTALLY wrong. You are not a person of superior rank or position. You are a member of one of the world's most corrupt organizations -- the U.S. Senate (equaled only by the U.S. House of Representatives).

Congress is a cesspool of liars, thieves, insider traders, traitors, drunks (one killed a staffer, yet is still revered), criminals, and other low level swine who, as individuals (not all, but many), will do anything to enhance their lives, fortunes and power, all at the expense of the People of the United States and its Constitution, in order to be continually re-elected. Many democrats seem to want American troops killed by releasing classified photographs. How many of you Senators could honestly say, 'We pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor'? None? One? Two?

Your reaction to the general showed several things. First, your abysmal ignorance of all things military. Your treatment of the general shows you to be an elitist of the worst kind. When the general entered the military (as most of us who served) he wrote the government a blank check, offering his life to protect your derriere now safely and comfortably ensconced in a 20 thousand dollar leather chair, paid for by the general's taxes. You repaid him for this by humiliating him in front of millions.

Second is your puerile character, lack of sophistication, and arrogance which borders on the hubristic. This display of brattish behavior shows you to be a virago, termagant, harridan, nag, scold or shrew, unfit for your position, regardless of the support of the unwashed, uneducated masses who have made California into the bankrupt, laughing stock of the nation.

What I am writing, Senator, are the same thoughts countless millions of Americans have toward Congress, but who lack the energy, ability or time to convey them. Under the Democrats, some don't even have 44 cents to buy a postage stamp. Regardless of their thoughts, most realize politicians are pretty much the same, and will vote for the one who will bring home the most bacon, even if they do consider how corrupt that person may be.

Lord Acton (1834 - 1902) so aptly charged, 'Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' Unbeknownst to you and your colleagues, Mr. Power has had his way with all of you, and the US citizens are all the worse for it.

Finally Senator, I, too, have a title. It is 'Right Wing Extremist, Potential Terrorist Threat.' It is not of my choosing, but was given to me by your Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano. And you were offended by "ma'am"?

Have a nice day. Cheers!
