Santelli Attacks Biden's Claim Economy Is Worse Than Expected

Why is CNBC's Rick Santelli one of the few press members willing to point out when the emperor isn't wearing any clothes?

As you ponder that important question, consider how Santelli on Tuesday morning recognized how absurd Vice President Joe Biden's Sunday comments were concerning the Obama administration misreading how bad the economy was.

After all, as Santelli marvelously asked: "How many hundreds of times has the current administration talked about the worst recession in history? The worst time since the Depression?"

Exactly, but that wasn't all:

RICK SANTELLI, CNBC: The other focus of course is going to be how this growing talk politically on the extra needed amounts to spend, a new spending package. And remember, the Vice President talked about a miscalculation. Those words were retracted some extent, but remember: How many hundreds of times has the current administration talked about the worst recession in history? The worst time since the Depression? I don't think they were really surprised by the depth of the slower activity. Maybe they're just surprised that all that money really didn't create jobs and consumers are getting in more dire straits. Just look at credit cards.

Yep, and now they're going to start pushing for another stimulus. The question is how the media will allow this discussion to be tabled.

After all, despite their and Biden's convenient amnesia, the press aided and abetted Porkulus I by assisting the White House in disseminating gloom and doom about the economy, and, therefore, the need for unprecedented spending.

Now that this hasn't worked -- meaning the economy isn't improving -- the media now have two choices:

  1. Expose the failure of spending to get the economy going and not back another such package
  2. Go along with the Administration's laughable claims that things are worse than expected and support Porkulus II.
Which option do you think they'll take? Share this
