Conservative talk radio hosts are terrorists.
So said the Speaker of California's Assembly in an interview published at the Los Angeles Times Saturday.
As amazing as it may seem, this was Karen Bass's (D-LA) response to the question, "How do you think conservative talk radio has affected the Legislature's work?" (h/t NBer Gary Hall):
The Republicans were essentially threatened and terrorized against voting for revenue. Now [some] are facing recalls. They operate under a terrorist threat: "You vote for revenue and your career is over." I don't know why we allow that kind of terrorism to exist. I guess it's about free speech, but it's extremely unfair.Wow!

'revenue' indeed
June 27, 2009 - 13:49 ET by konoShe's so precious with the spin here. Voting for revenue?! Revenue?!?!
Sorry, Assemblything Bass, 'revenue' is what is created in the private sector. Governments can only get 'revenue' by confiscating it from the private sector.
What you experience as 'revenue' in Sacramento is inflicted on the private sector in the form of taxes, fees, and fines. And the more you shrink the productive side of the economy with asinine tax increases, the less revenue you will actually receive.
What a steaming pile of bovine fecal matter.

June 28, 2009 - 17:21 ET by m1xramTerminology is important. If you can change the meaning of words you can justify anything. Take your tag line, British women with breast cancer know that Nationalized Healthcare == DEATH SENTENCE, but no liberal would call it that. Also, premeditated child murder is called abortion, which is a "death sentence" and Due Process is not allowed.

It's perfect, though. It's not as though this isn't proven land. The case can be easily made that it lies fallow as a carbon offset. Those would be some remarkably large estates in some very attractive country.

June 27, 2009 - 18:13 ET by Noel SheppardCA,
Well, remember in "Chinatown" the Cross character was starving water from orange groves in the valley -- actually, what is now considered Orange County -- so as to bankrupt the owners and buy the land cheaply. Then, the reservoir that was being built in LA was actually going to send the water to the valley to irrigate the land Cross had bought on the cheap.
In the current instance, the problem is the Endangered Species Act and a desision by a federal judge in LA. Unless you can prove that the judge is connected to investors looking to buy that land, I'm not sure you can call this a land grab.
That said, at some point speculators will indeed buy this land in the hopes the judge's decision will be overturned. ns

I do know most fish can be farmed if it's a population/food chain issue, and fish can be dammmed out of pump stations if it's a kill situation.
If it's a river flow problem, that might be a little harder to defeat.
<Added> Here we go. Seems a change in Smelt population triggers a meeting of the smelt board. You can sell the idea to the judge easily without anybody being able to prove malfeasence.

One day they and their Hispanic partners will reap what they have sown with this guys election, and then the poo will hit the fan. It will hit them to where they have much less than they have now from these policies. God help us...
God is not going to help us....
June 27, 2009 - 16:31 ET by GecksHe stopped listening to us a long time ago. We need to help ourselves. And here is how we do it....
1) Let California go Bankrupt. No "State" has every gone bankrupt before, so we can be a first. Aren't we always proud to say that we as Californians are innovators?
2) Renegotiate EVERY union contract that the state has entered into. Teachers, Prison Guards, Public Works.....if the money comes from the state, it gets renegotiated.
3) Unions are no longer allowed to "Donate" to Government hack political funds. Only individual donors can give money. This way, people are not forced to make donations through thier unions that they don't approve of.
4)State Union workers are now required actually work for a living. If a teacher cannot educate his/her pupils, they will be fired. From now on, just because your in a union, it does not allow incompetence. If, after getting fired, the union wants to keep paying your salary, so be it, but the state taxpayers are no longer footing the bill for your incompetence.
5)Prison Guards are no longer allowed to earn 3 times thier yearly salary through overtime. You have a work schedule, memorize it. If you work Monday through Friday, and take a sick day Wednesday, you will be paid sick time for that day. If for some reason they need you to work on Saturday, it will be paid a single time, and no longer to be be paid as Double time. You did not work 40 hours for your work schedule, and you should not and no longer will be paid extra. You are required to work your full shift if you want to be paid for it. If you only work 6 hours that day, that's what you get paid for.
6)You are now responsible for handling your own retirement. The days of living off the taxpayer for the rest of your lives is OVER!!!!! You will make a descent salary for the job you perform. You are more than welcome to invest your money like the rest of us, and take your chances. If your investments fall flat, the Taxpayer is no longer responsible for "making it up"!!
7)The Union is now responsible for your health care. Not the taxpayers. We will be more that happy provide your union with a certain amount of money per union member to pay the premium, but it will only be enough to pay for a basic package. (HMO) If you want better coverage, then you are welcome to pay for an upgrade out of pocket. This is the deal most employee's have with thier employers, so now it is good enough for you.
There are other idea's, but I'm so angry right now I'm spitting bullets!!!

June 27, 2009 - 21:15 ET by Republic First. The gall complaining that 'free speech' protects what she considers unacceptable and vulgar, but dare a legitamate question be asked of The One's complete disreguard for the constitution and the outrage spews from all media and even the President himself gets haughty and condescending.
Just keep up this self-righteousness, elected ones. We'll see you at the voting booths in 2010!

Yeah, we will, I still worry about the damage ACORN and sister groups are going to do to us at the polls...let alone the trial lawyers, dem pollsters, along with dem run states, msm, etc etc etc.
We had better come out in huge numbers.

They Make Up The Numbers, So What Good Does It Do?
June 29, 2009 - 17:02 ET by farstar99There were 2000-plus people at my Tea Party. The local paper said 500.
That's the kind of math ACORN and their government stooges use, so what do votes matter?
The kind of numbers that matter are the ones we were seeing in Iran.
People out in the streets, willing to kill or die for the cause of freedom. People willing to hunt down the cowards in their government and do what is needed to bring about, or preserve liberty.
HMMM
June 27, 2009 - 21:38 ET by rick007Seem to me it's the lefties trying to destroy this country.
Karen Bass
June 27, 2009 - 22:04 ET by aixnpainsCommon sense is dead. Honest intellectual, fact based debate is dead. Oops, my opinions may put me on a terrorist watch list! For the record, when in doubt, revert to back the old saying, "For the people, by the people ...." Bass is an insult to one's intelligence.
so we're supposed to take the UN approach?
June 27, 2009 - 22:11 ET by katainkentput together a strongly (yet still polite) worded letter and hope a whole lot someone will listen?
Do the job for the people as you swore to do, or you will have no job. The ever growing Oligarchy that is this US Congress must go.

Repeated Three Times
June 28, 2009 - 01:19 ET by DoktorFranken''Terrorized'', ''terrorist'', ''terrorism''.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is a Leftist tactic straight from Alinsky. I won't bother to search to find out that Bass simply adored Saul since she uses RULE 12 (''Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it'') so well in this mini attack.
Everyone has the word ''terror'' in their ''this is bad column'' of the mind. Now Bass set it up and nailed it repeatedly so that there is not a question in any of the Ignorant Mass' mind. Talk radio - Conservative Talk Radio - personalities are Terrorists. Now couple this with the latest EO to be formulated (that terrorists can be detained indefinitely) and we have lost our Freedom of Speech to the point that you can be placed in custody - forever - for speaking out against the government.
Of course, everyone here knows that. Now all we have need is what danebramage said:
''I hope talk radio picks this up and broadcasts it to every corner of our nation. Ms. Bass needs to be called out on her remark in a very loud and public manner.''
That's right. Let everyone know how wrong Bass is. How wrong it is to attempt to control Free Speech. How crazy this whole Leftist attack is.

June 28, 2009 - 16:33 ET by LEWIS IN COLORADOTHE AMERICAN PEOPLE are terrorists according to these people--bass/napolitano etc. but all obama and these people want to do is sit down and have a love fest with the islamofascist murders---we can't call them terrorists. (the small o is intentional- he is not my presidenty and I will NOT let him become my Dictator)
Nor will I Lewis in Colorado
June 28, 2009 - 17:29 ET by WorriedBTW, I live in Thornton.
Back to the subject at hand, I will die before I let Barack Obama dictate to me how I live my life.
Don't know if you or any other NB visitors listened to Glenn Beck Thursday or Friday but he gave a brilliant lecture that he will never cross the bridge to become a minion of these people in Washington. I will never cross that bridge either.

June 28, 2009 - 17:48 ET by bigtimerWe are watching The Patriot again...been quite awhile...it would do well to have the leftists in this country like Bass to watch and understand...
Oh well, this is never going to happen.
Their job is to destroy all that was sacrificed to form this great country...along with the blood being shed to this day to keep us this way.

So Obama Voters are Terrorists
June 29, 2009 - 16:57 ET by farstar99They expressed their wishes to legislators and officials so that makes them terrorists.
All the dead people, and the ones who voted multiple times, and the illegal immigrants who voted for Obama and the Democrats are terrorists.
The Democrats who shot up peoples' houses and kidnapped the mentally challenged to force them to vote for Obama are terrorists.
Oh my God, she's right!
Democrat voters, anyway, ARE terrorists!
That means SHE'S a terrorist.
Put this ugly Nazi in a cell and make her listen to Barbra Streisand records in reverse immediately!

Time for Bass to GO
June 29, 2009 - 22:15 ET by DaMamaIt's about time people realized that it's the Democratic legislature that has destroyed California. Why isn't anyone saying this louder? Bass is the typical liberal - anyone who votes against them is a terrorist, hater, bigot, homophobe, racist.....just pick a derogatory term. It's people like her that have sent California right down the crapper. Next year, vote out the tax and spend Democrats and vote in people who are fiscally responsible and have some plain, old fashioned common sense. If average people have to balance their checkbooks and live according to a budget, then the state of California needs to also.
