JibJab Takes on Superhero Obama: 'He's Come to Save the Day!'

Our good friends at JibJab have created a new satirical animated short that is an absolute must-see.

To the tune "When Johnny Comes Marching Home," viewers are introduced to a new superhero.

Coming just as "darkness had descended all across the land...he's Barack Obama, he's come to save the day!" (video embedded below the fold h/t Hot Air):

For some reason, I didn't laugh at this one -- or with this one. Dunno why... or maybe I do:

The past ones I've found hilarious. With those, maybe it was the music and/or that they spoofed on so many different topics of the time AND on many different politicians, and in that great rapid-fire, pack-it-all-in-3-minutes way.

This, on the other hand, is a different beast that just focuses on him, and in this JibJab style/format (for me at least) it sort of falls flat.

But didn't you find this as a total put-down to Barrack, his policies and what he has and is doing to us in the future is he can?

I found that part serious...but still, at least while I smiled with all of this it took my pain away from what I see being crammed down our throats since he has taken office for at least a few minutes.

Yes, certainly the content is funny, and it's great that they're poking fun at him. I was just surprised that I wasn't really laughing through the whole thing, which I've done to their previous offerings.

I feel they could have gone after him AND thrown in some goodies of people in his administration/cabinet... all the characters, like Emanual, Biden (of course), etc..

Good point, that it IS all about him, so they're paroding that. But, for me, JibJab works when they're all over the map with tons of stuff and imagery... any other vehicle, sure, this single-theme/person works fine.

I'll watch it again anyway :)

The thing is how sure can any of us be that that woman who thought that Obama was going to see to it that her mortgage was paid off and the she would never have to pay for gasoline etc. again has not bookmarked this and is presently memorizing it and fully believes it; and the same goes for all of her soul sisters and brothers.

Yeah, I didn't like it either, perhaps because Obama (and his millions of fawning supporters, one said to me before the election "He is going to make those oil companies give us $1 a gallon gas again.") is not funny to me, he is just plain scary. I really even have a hard time looking at his face.

There was some suggestion on HotAir that maybe this video was made in support of The One. I don't see it that way, but it is posted on abcnews.com. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some sites duped into thinking it is supportive, then pull the link when they finally realize otherwise.

Funny, as I started to read this post they showed a quick segment of the video on the Philly CW news. They made it sound flattering and said it "poked a little fun at the President's inability to quit smoking".

So, two things, they totally didn't get that it was poking fun at a lot more than Obama's smoking. Also, the media sure doesn't show Obama smoking. You can bet if Bush lit up it would have been plastered everywhere.

Well, its a start, I guess once your poll numbers start to drop a little, a small amount of humour can start to come out. Its still unbeleivable though, that the media is still laughing after 20 years over a misspelled word from Quayle but finds nothing funny about the wealth of statements from Biden.
