The good folks at National Review are absolutely skewering Newsweek's disgraceful Obama fixation with a delicious parody of the magazine including "New, improved, and longer articles extolling the First Family!" (h/t Hot Air, larger picture below the fold):
Articles in the satirical issue include "The 'Toned' Debate: Barack's Pecs or Michelle's Arms?" by Jonathan Alter, and "Bo's Amazing Adventures" by Jon Meacham.
Last but not least, Evan "Obama Is 'Sort of God'" Thomas's "Better Than FDR (And Cooler Than JFK."

What is news?
June 6, 2009 - 14:44 ET by KC MulvilleI'm curious whether Newsweek's numbers are rising or falling. I mean, if you decide to go all-Obama-all-the-time, and the numbers drop, yet you still stick with your format, then that has to be a sign of Bias Gone Wild. I know that the numbers are dropping in general, but perhaps their research shows that Obama is the only thing keeping them alive at all.
Even so, one wonders how a newsmagazine can toss aside so much of the other news to focus on one story.
Hi KC,
June 6, 2009 - 14:58 ET by pahuberMy personal theory is that they know it is just a matter of time before they close down. So they are going to try and prop up the 'great leader' as long as possible no matter what.
Not having read it lately ...
June 6, 2009 - 18:24 ET by KC MulvilleHow much can you say about Obama?
I'm curious whether Newsweek's numbers are rising or falling. .
June 6, 2009 - 15:21 ET by GalvanicI don't have the answer, but it's obvious that the real Newsweek is no longer trying to compete with the traditional news & commentary magazines for sales, and is now trying to get a chunk of the entertainment mag business dominated by crap like People, Us, and O.
It's all about celebrity, and the MSM has elevated Obama to the status of rock star.
Noel, they didn't miss Evan
June 6, 2009 - 15:25 ET by motherbeltNoel, they didn't miss Evan Thomas. He's right there; no honorable mention; he's got the main story!

Evan Thomas: "Obama in Historical Perspective"

Newsweek circulation numbers are really even lower
June 6, 2009 - 15:35 ET by iiiireaderthan anything they show. I bought a kitchen item at Amazon for Christmas and lo and behold the week of Obama's inauguration, I started receiving Newsweek.
I thought it was some kind of sick joke but the next week, another copy arrived. I called Newsweek to find out who was sending it and how to stop it. Apparently, when I bought the under $6 item at Amazon it came with a "free" six month subscription of Newsweek. I told them I wanted it cancelled and they told me that they couldn't do that. They could, however, put it on permanent hold (like when you are on vacation and don't want mail arriving.) It means that my subscription is valid literally forever as I won't turn it back on and they won't let me cancel it.
I'm absolutely certain that Newsweek circulation numbers include not only mine but any other individual who bought something at Amazon during that time... so whatever number they list simply is inflated.
Newsweek a mini billboard despite low readership
June 7, 2009 - 13:42 ET by j17ghsNewsweek unfortunately serves as a mini billboard for the ignorant masses who see it displayed at checkout stands and airport terminals, etc., around the Western world. It is the same strategy as photos of Big Brother that were placed everywhere in Orwell's 1984 to reinforce the state's propaganda.

no bama for me
June 6, 2009 - 17:28 ET by CatherwoodI don't know if the msm or these antiquated magazines realize it or not or maybe don't even care, but some viewers and readers don't do BHO. What I mean is they skip him. For no particular reason other than I think he's completely fake and full of himself, I find myself using the remote to skip him when he pops on the air or the heads start talking about him. Same is true with newspapers and magazines, I don't read the articles about his omnipotence. I just don't care and really don't even see him as President of the US. I see him as I see Billy Mays or as the AFLAC duck. I don't want what he's selling and I don't see him as that important. Funny thing about this is that I've run across other folks who are the same way. A client volunteered yesterday that he had not seen two minutes of BHO since he was elected. He seemed very proud that he had avoided the tsunami of information and hype about him. Point is the msm and these news mags are losing viewers because of their obsession with this cheap hustler from Chicago.
Who, by the way, is this Meadow woman? Where did she come from and why is she important?

Billy Boy
June 6, 2009 - 17:59 ET by jaywlHey, don't knock Billy Mays! He has a life story a lot like Obama. He's on television almost as much as The One. He never had a real job. His only qualification for commercials is, well, listen to the story: When asked asked why he should be chosen for his first ad, he said "Wouldn't it be wonderful for a big, fat guy with a beard and a stupid looking grin who has never done a damn thing in his life to become a television star? Just once. Wouldn't that be great story?" The rest is history.

June 6, 2009 - 21:52 ET by pepsimani feel the same way as you, if his or her picture is on it i avoid it... also i'm down to about 2 movie rentals a year now since there are so many actors i have blacklisted and refuse to give even one consumer dollar to. o ya and i haven't bought a piece of music for over 7 years. way to go bushbashers, countrybashers, greenies, propagandists, global warmers ,and treasonist talk show hosts.. i live a whole new lifestyle of consumer avoidance . there have to be many who do as i do we need a catchy moniker that explains who we are
consumer avoidance...........
June 7, 2009 - 04:39 ET by old croperfect phrase for what I do now. It used to be that I would avoid any product with "Made in China", that is pretty hard to do now. I've made it harder than that by trying to avoid any product endorsed or owned by any of the left wing nut jobs out there.
protest to the hilt
June 7, 2009 - 09:12 ET by CatherwoodI think we should also boycotte cable and satellite television that charges us fees to support stations like MSNBC. MTV, BET and other white male hating organizations. I've often wondered if, for example, MSNBC with such low ratings could even survive without the money the cable and satellite companies pay them as part of the packages that we subscribe to. Would BET even attract advertisers if the all black station was not included in the packages? I was told by one of the satellite companies that I could not pick and choose the programs in my package because they all came as one. I thought this very odd. There was a bill before Congress a couple of years ago which was shot down because it intended to give us a choice about the programs in the package. Think about it....could a program like Hardball even exist without the support of subscribers who are forced to have MSNBC in their package?
Along with foreign language
June 7, 2009 - 11:03 ET by Dan DiegoAlong with foreign language channels that we subsidize.
Re protest
June 7, 2009 - 12:21 ET by slickwillie2001My Comcast digital cable does not have MSNBC in the basic-extended package that is probably most of their business, channels 2-104. MSNBC is part of a special news-junkie package along with CSPAN3 and Fox Business Channel. My views of MSNBC is limited to youtube clips, and I'm okay with that.
but.........
June 7, 2009 - 14:54 ET by CatherwoodWhat about CNN, BET, MTV, and other very liberal, very anticonservative networks?
Call your cable or satellite company and demand that they remove CNN, MSNBC, and MTV from your entertainment package. Stop subsidizing the liberal left.
name for us
June 7, 2009 - 05:47 ET by CatherwoodPepsiman,
I've been thinking a lot about a name for people like us who avoid the things you mentioned in your post. So far, nothing has come to me, but when it dows I will let you know. We do need a name because, I think, there are many more of us than even we imagine. The msm's job, it seems, is to supress that knowledge. The msm does not want the public to that there is much dissatisfaciton with BHO and the left wing. We could call ourselves something real orginal like the 'silent majority'.
Omega Men
June 7, 2009 - 05:57 ET by CatherwoodI keep thinking of Charleston Heston in the Omega Man. Remember all those zombie like things that were after him?....there's the personfication of Hollywood, BHO, and the left if I've ever seen it!

June 6, 2009 - 19:30 ET by MidAmericaWhat are the obamaphiles going to do once he leaves office? Where will they go? They can't just stop their teenage infatuation and go back to being journalists.
They were enamored with Bill Clinton and really had a fling with him and that's why they hated George Bush so. They could not write love sonnets and offer protection for the object of their infatuation. George Bush made them feel like they were alone in life and without a lover. They had no other purpose in life other than attack the person who had made their lives empty and pointless. Now... they have the most exquisite love of their lives. They grew up on stories of what a great love affair that journalists experienced with JFK and now they have reignited the passion and lust that can only be had by finding your soul mate.

African DNA hides Obama's Aryanism
June 7, 2009 - 13:45 ET by j17ghsO'bummer is similar to FDR, who ruled as a Marxist elite without regard for due process and who also admired Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and other comrades, and who wanted to purify society. Today, Marxists have chosen an Aryan who has a bit of African DNA that suppresses the blond hair and blue eyes!
