NBC's Brian Williams Bows To President Obama

How much is "Nightly News" host Brian Williams in the tank for President Obama?

Well, as part I of NBC's special report "Inside the Obama White House" came to a close Tuesday, Williams, while saying good night to the president, actually bowed his head.

I kid you not (embedded video and partial transcript below the fold):

BRIAN WILLIAMS: Now it is first family time and time for us to say good night. Mr. President...

Pres. OBAMA: All right.

WILLIAMS: ...that's your elevator.

Pres. OBAMA: It is. Thank you.

WILLIAMS: Thank you, sir. (bows head) Have a good evening.

Pres. OBAMA: Appreciate it. Thank you very much.

WILLIAMS: We'll see you Tuesday. Thank you.

Pres. OBAMA: Thank you.

Any questions?

this link...I had almost forgotten about this...Brian Williams was so rude to President Bush, confrontational (see how close to Bush he stands during this clip? He's right in Bush's "personal space" the whole time-), and appears to mock Bush concerning what he's reading at the time...It's clear that Williams doesn't believe a word that Bush says about what he has read...I'm sure Williams believes that Bush can barely read the back of a cereal box...What an arrogant, condescending a$$ he is...

Okay.  I agree that he bowed to the Saudi king.  I agree that Williams briefly nodded/slightly bowed his head as he was saying goodbye to Obama.  I don't know the entire range of emotions which may have actuated this gesture and neither do you, so #4 may or may not be accurate.  Your attachment of the word "Satanic" to describe the four cited examples is absurd, in each and every case.

Yes, it bothers me when an intelligent man who just last night appeared to be one of the most level-headed members at this website posts malarkey like that.

Jer

→ Jer

I actually believe Satan exists.

I also believe Williams was specially moved to ceremonially show his allegiance to Obama.  You've seen him bow before?

Obama flies to the Middle East, throws in Saudi Arabia at the last minute, and isn't able to include our friend Israel in the trip?

Obama is then flying to France to commemorate Normandy, but the Queen of England, who actually experienced the war he commemorates, isn't invited?

Things are changing fast, and you're not seeing it.

If he does visit Israel, it will be in secret, and he'll come back with the promise of a 7-year peace accord in his hand.

"The Rule of Law is the only thing that separates us from Democrats" - a Firefighter

Who invited Obama to

Who invited Obama to France?  Did Obama tell the Queen to stay outta town?  Did she express a desire to attend the ceremonies? Sorry, I'm not aware of the details of this latest international controversy.  You'll have to fill me in.

Jer

→ Jer

He might have showed the courage to stand up to (ahem) a Frenchman and said,  "Sorry, Sark ol' buddy, but the Queen actually lived it.  No queen, no President"

Now what was that again that the French did during that war?  Wanna buy a French rifle?  Never fired, dropped once.

"The Rule of Law is the only thing that separates us from Democrats" - a Firefighter

Cool...

And then again, if it weren't for the French, we might still be a British colony, or another Canada.

And if Sark said, ok, no President.  The NewsBusters website would crash under the weight of collective outrage if Obama didn't go to Normandy.

Jer

Regarding my views of the press and Obama, I don't expect you to avidly read every one of my comments, but you'll be pleased to learn that I have indeed been critical of the media's fawning idolatry regarding Obama thus far, and have expressed my hope that he be subjected to more rigorous scrutiny in the future.

I don't "sneer" at honest criticism.  Cool knows how much I respect him and his opinions.  But I reserve the right to take issue  with his explicit association of Obama's conduct with "SATAN".  Would you not do likewise if I were to attach a simiilar description to George Bush?  Sure you would, and rightly so.

Jer

Thank-You for the clarification Senor Jer

Long Live...THE REPUBLIC !

I think a clarification is

I think a clarification is in order concerning D-Day remembrance this year.

The Queen of England was not invited, so we are told.  Who's fault is that?  Probably the French, since it is their country that's putting on the event.

Is Obama off the hook for this debacle.  NO!  He is a willing participant in this insult.

  1. Obama has already set precedence on this exact situation back in April 2009.  Sarkozy's people wanted to have Obama tour Normandy while he was in London for the G20 Summit.  Obama's minions disingenuously (the French are our allies, aren't they?) misled the French about the invited tour.  Obama didn't want to step on the toes of ally Germany then but is more than willing to step on the torso of England on D-Day?
    • [T]he White House had decided that Mr Obama would not travel there this week. "It wasn't going to happen," said an American official in Washington. "We went through the motions to placate President Sarkozy but giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda... During this trip, we wanted to maintain a balance between the British, German and France".
  2. Obama can say whatever he wants in this situation.  Obama could successfully apply diplomatic pressure to have an invitation sent out to the Queen.  I don't think Sarkozy would go against Obama on this issue.
  3. I have no doubt that Obama knew in advance that the Queen was not invited.  Obama's etiquette handlers would need to know who was coming, where they would be positioned, and the details of appearing and leaving the event in order to clue Barry about what to do.  This is SOP for heads of state and luminaries like our Light Worker Obama.
  4. Considering #3, Obama could have completed this diplomacy in privacy.
  5. Obama has malignant history with the Brits already.  He returned the bust of Churchill, Winston not Ward, gave thoughtless gifts to both the Prime Minister and Queen of England, and Michelle broke protocol and got familiar with the Queen.  I am not including the obvious snub of bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia (inexcusable behaviour) while not bowing to the Queen (which I could care less).

Didn't the Brits fight in Africa and Middle East against the Muslims that had aligned themselves with Hitler?  Americans and some Frenchmen fought those battles too, so, plenty of bitterness to go around for Barry.  Then there is that allegation that Churchill commanded the troops that beat his grandfather.

Maybe if the Queen had given Obama some bling like the Saudi king then Barry would have chilled out.  Yes.  It must be everyone else's fault.

Instead, the chip on Obama's shoulder is planetary-sized.

→ Thanks strat

"It's all Sarkozy's fault" sounded so hollow given the number of Americans and Brits who died to save the French from a lifetime of "Sieg Heil"

"The Rule of Law is the only thing that separates us from Democrats" - a Firefighter

One question.  Well

One question.  Well actually two or three.   Is the Queen offended?  Did she want to attend?  She's at a pretty advanced age.  Is she still traveling much out of the country?

Jer

Jer

I can't find the exact article I was looking for, which was entitled something like "The Queen is Not Amused"....but this oversight, snub, or whatever is disgusting.

As far as I know, she is in great health for her age, and remember, she too travels as a Head of State, so the hop across The Channel is no more taxing for her than my mother going to the drugstore.

This insult to the Queen - the only living head of state who actually served in the war

I hope he fails, too.

Blonde

In that case, the oversight/snub is inexcusable.

Jer

I thought so too, Jer

The end of that article is particularly to the point:

It is, simply, yet another illustration that our new political class has little time for history. Mr Brown had not imagined that anyone would be too bothered by the 65th anniversary of a long-gone battle when there were Euro-elections taking place in the same week.

Neither Mr Sarkozy nor Mr Obama nor Mr Brown were born when 300,000 Allied servicemen launched that stupendous assault on occupied Europe.

The Queen, on the other hand, remembers it vividly. Her generation were in those landing craft. Her father even had to dissuade Winston Churchill from joining the invasion himself. She will remember the excitement and euphoria which swept the nation.

If any national head of state belongs on those beaches on June 6 with those gallant survivors, it is the one leader who not only appreciates their efforts but understands what it means to them.

But it's not too late. The address, Mr Sarkozy, is Buckingham Palace, London SW1A

I hope he fails, too.

CA: One would have to lay

CA:

One would have to lay responsibility of the Queen's non-invite at the feet of Sarkozy.  I do know if any input on this insult was imparted by Obama and his admisistration.  In other words, given Obama's history of treating the Brits, I am not wholly convinced that this situation is a machination of the French alone.

Could you please clue me into what you mean exactly.  I am confused as to your position with my post.

Jer:

I do not mean this insultingly, but, your questions are besides the point.  Unless the Queen or her representatives expressly stated she or her representatives would not be attending the memorial before invitations were sent out, the Queen should have been invited based on diplomacy alone, let alone other considerations of historical and future import.

As to the Queen's travel schedule, she did manage to visit America in 2007.  I'd bet that if the Queen can travel to Balmoral Castle in Scotland that she could chunnel it to Normandy for a ceremony memorializing an event critical to her United Kingdom's continued existence.  AFAIK, the Queen is quite partial to tradition and honor.  Maybe one of our resident Brits, like Jack Bauer, can speak more knowledgeably about this topic.

*I have seen some of this year's "Britain's Got Talent" TV show.  While this is not the optimal method of learning about Brits, I must say I am quite taken by the lovely spirit of the people.

→ I'm just sayin'

I'm just sayin' Obama could have, and should have, stood up for our friend Queen Elizabeth.

In my post, I thanked you for pointing that out.

"The Rule of Law is the only thing that separates us from Democrats" - a Firefighter

Thanks for the

Thanks for the clarification.

Agree completely with your point about Obama's duty to have stood with our (best) ally, specifically the Queen, in general Great Britain.  Obama's history of contrary interaction with the Brits speaks volumes.

We're seeing plenty of change, but I'm not feeling the hope.

strat... Maybe

strat...

Maybe irrelevant, maybe not.  I honestly am not familiar with the back story--if there is indeed a back story.  Perhaps the Queen had previously advised the invitation committee--or other appropriate officials--that she would be unable to attend.

I would never have imagined that the British PM and the Foreign Office would share some culpability or negligence in this debacle!  In the least it is selfish lazyness; at most it is a betrayal by the Queen's countrymen.

I do not think this is by mere chance.  All the player know, or have people who's jobs is to know, proper ettiquette and history.  The exclusion of the Queen was by willful commision by three world leaders, not naive ommision.

Yeah, it's a huge excuse to claim it was simply a nod of respect, which Obama returned. Making more of it than that is insanity.

After carefully veiwing the clip I have to cut Brian some slack, its obviouse it was not a bow..... he was merely checking that his kneepads were firmly in place for when the camera cut.

Thanks kangaroo

That wonderful religion of peace grants its most precious gift to an infidel.

I'm being extra nice tonight because the leader of this Country just claimed America for allah.

"The Rule of Law is the only thing that separates us from Democrats" - a Firefighter

What does that have to do

What does that have to do with Brian Williams?

→ It's like Kevin Bacon

Williams bowed to Obama, who, because of his special blessing, has us all not caring if he's even American.

That's like two, maybe three degrees of separation.

Judges say it's pertinent.

He bows twice,

and dares not turn his back to the king. Thats how I interpeted it. Pathetic.

That photo and title -- you're killin' me Noel.

That bow ain't nothin compared to Obama's bow before the Muslim King.

But seriously, while it wasn't a full bow, it certainly was a gesture of profound heart-felt respect.  Nothing wrong with that, he (Obama) is the POTUS, after all, but I don't believe Williams ever paid Bush the same courtesy.

Just A Matter of Time

Soon it will be "reflex" for the media elite, especially those at MSNBC, to mimic the infamous Hitlergruß of World War II.  They already speak "Our Dear Leader"-ese.

This evening's NBC propaganda roll described the life and times of the Obama females, a good amount of time devoted to the Obama's beautiful girls.

Strange thing about the reporting was Brian Williams, asserting authoritatively, more than three times, the Obama daughters are the youngest children to live in the White House since the children of John F. Kennedy's presidency.

Simply negated the entire Whiye House life and years of the very young Miss Amy Carter.

As reported by NBC:

"Turning the White House into a home
Nov. 8: The last time there were children as young as the Obama girls in the White House was 1977, when Amy Carter moved in. As NBC’s Tom Costello reports, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. can be a challenging place for a kid to call home."

From Wikipedia:

"Carter lived in the White House for four years from the age of nine."

Williams never mentioned Amy Carter in his report.

How will NBC Universal handle all those pre-ordered DVDs that neglect to mention Miss Carter?

Will NBC add something to all the DVDs they've already duplicated for sale to correct their obvious error, or,

Will NBC achieve in rewriting history - beginning with this widely distributed DVD containing the glaring omission of the Carter presidency having a nine-year-old in the White House after the JFK years?

ObamaLove is blind, isn't it?  It can make you so blind, facts, that matter to the story, are conveniently forgotten in favor of rewriting history, to prop up Obama as something more than he is, as having achieved something he has not.

It's a pathetic and disgusting display of, as Bernie Goldberg would say, a slobbering love affair between the media and Obama.

The truth doesn't matter, what he actually says doesn't matter, he's a celebrity, the greatest star of them all - he's Obama.  Swoon, if you know what's good for you.

I think people still underestimate how much control liberals have over the news.  Even this item is a perfect example.  I went to the YouTube video linked off DrudgeReport and of course the comments are disabled.  I knew they would be before I got there.  Anything that is even slightly anti-liberal will have comments disabled (oh, I'm sure they'll have some lame excuse) so it can't come to the top of the "most commented" list and gain attention of a larger audience.  This is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLYtHHxTTmc

"Bow to our newly discovered Muslim king our ye will be beheaded!"

Thanks all you liberal fools for putting this clown on us at this point in history.

Brian Williams and Obama

We fought a long and bloody war to get out from under the tyranny of King George of England and we won!  Now, we are, willingly, letting another king emerge?  Time for you to get off the air, Brian.  I have never liked you, anyway.
