Black Republican Takes on Obama and Janeane Garofalo

For many years a common media meme has been that black people have to be Democrats and that African-Americans whose political views are even slightly right of center must either be addle-minded or crazy.

Janeane Garofalo in her disgusting interview with MSNBC's Keith Olbermann last month said anybody at April's Tea Parties that wasn't white had to be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

On Friday, Barbara Howard, a black, Republican media and government relations consultant from Florida, took on this absurd stereotype -- "I dare say that Miss Garofalo knows little or nothing about black folk and definitely not black Republicans" -- while claiming President Obama "thinks he knows more than everybody, including all 43 presidents before him."

In a South Florida Times op-ed marvelously titled "The Politics of Blackness: A Little Knowledge is a Dangerous Thing," Howard discussed how Obama's healthcare proposal would have negatively impacted her recent stay in the hospital:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Then, after all your records are computerized and accessed by the federal government, the new Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research will review your doctors’ recommendations for treatment and medications, and decide if they are “appropriate and cost-effective.’’ [...]

This council, made up of bureaucrats, could have easily decided that I was too old to have all the medical attention the hospital gave me, and there would have been nothing I could do about it. And, if I didn’t agree, I would be called all kinds of names, including the one comedienne Janeane Garofalo called those of us who are black and Republican – “pathological and suffering from Stockholm syndrome.”

In case you don’t know what Stockholm syndrome means, it’s when kidnap victims become sympathetic to their captors.  And in this case, those “captors” are “racists” who “hate that a black guy is in the White House,” according to Miss Garofalo in her interview with MSNBC host Keith Olbermann. [...]

I dare say that Miss Garofalo knows little or nothing about black folk and definitely not black Republicans. But she speaks as if she does, which is a dangerous thing.

That’s what happens when someone has a little knowledge, but thinks they have a lot.

Yes, one could certainly say that about Garofalo. But, according to Howard, she's not the only liberal in America possessing such arrogance:

Like Garofalo, Obama knows little or nothing about how to “fix” the best health care system in the world.

If it were not the best, then people from all over the world would not be coming here for treatment.  And Jackson Memorial Hospital (along with the Jackson hospital system) is known for having some of the best health experts in the world.  My experience there proves its reputation to be true.

But our new president, “the one we’ve been waiting for,” thinks he knows more than everybody, including all 43 presidents before him.  Yet he has not run any type of organization – ever.  Not a city, not a county, not a state, not a small company, not a large corporation, not an educational institution, not a non-profit organization, not even a governmental agency.

But our lives are in his hands. And if he doesn’t change his philosophy of big government running all our businesses, including our healthcare system, we will all be in big trouble.

Nicely said. Of course, Howard is quite right: if folks in the media read her words, she'd be called all kinds of harsh names for having the gall to not fit their racial stereotype.

You tell it, sister!

Obama had a lot of white on his resume

He now has car experience.  He can soon do an autopsy and learn what he did wrong.  Chrysler is deteriorating and hasn't built cars since april. Fiat is cooling off as they told the judge.  It is easy to destroy something.  It is not easy to find what is wrong and fix something.  We will have lost billions  for his stab at fixing a company. He also has damaged the car industry.

Now he wants to fix an industry.   It appears he is coming on with a chain saw and doesn't know what a scalpel is.

  yea, that white on his

Resume?

Resume?  What resume?  He don't need no stinking resume!!

He don't even need a college transcript!

Hell, he don't even need a birth certificate!

His conception (and concepts) are immaculate, don'tcha know?

I confess it still makes me

I confess it still makes me feel good to see black Republicans - especially when they speak out. I look forward to the day when it won't be a big deal and politics won't have any racial component at all.

I wish Michael Steele would

I wish Michael Steele would 'speak out'.  I had great hopes for him, but he seems to be part of the cabal of weak-kneed republicans who want to become 'slightly less' Democrat/Communist so the media will stop 'making fun' of them.

Grow up RINOs - they're never gonna like you and it's a losing idea to try, as McLoser proved in 08.  And with Communist Media clamoring for the government to 'take over' and put them all on the Democrat payroll, their opinions and broadcasts will soon be bought and paid for directly from the DNC....

I wish Michael Steele would

I wish Michael Steele would 'speak out'.

Actually, I wish Michael Steele wouldn't speak at all. Every time he opens his mouth, it seem's it's to attack conservatives.

Steele

Maybe someone can convince Steele to step aside and let Ms. Howard take over...

Steele makes me dizzy with

Steele makes me dizzy with his "fight the good fight" then same day media apologies and schmooze fests. If people would start accepting that they will be crucified for speaking out and just start speaking out UNAPOLOGETICALLY then eventually the hypocrisy of the media would be so blatent that even they themselves would be unable to not acknowledge it. From what I have seen, and this article is a good example of that... people are starting to speak out. Bottom line.... if you can stand the initial heat and bear up to the destruction of your personal life the opportunity is there to cash in on and spin a tremendous amount of negative publicity into personal gain and still get your point across.

let's hear more

I'd like to hear more from Barbara Howard.

Garofalo suffers from

Garofalo suffers from Lollipop Syndrome -- the technical term for a mutantly large head perched precariously atop a tiny, puny tatooed body.

Unfortunately the brain remains Lilliputian despite the vastness of the head.

Now to the red meat... as in quasi-commie meat.

Socialized "medicine" KILLS people.

Take off your blinders Americans and reject Obama's Fannie Mae Socialized Healthcare before it's too late.

That would be the day you or your loved one need life saving medical treatment, and are put on the back of a waiting list -- for the ACTUAL waiting list.

Britain's National Healthcare System killed my dad. True story.

Ted Kennedy would now be DEAD if he had insisted on using the British government's method for assessing his suitability for treatment.

A fat, 77 year old man with a drink problem would be left to DIE -- as it isn't economically rational to waste precious resources on him.

Think I'm kidding? Sadly I am not.

Howdy Jack... I know you're

Howdy Jack...

I know you're not...and I agree, I am very worried about what is going to happen to this country if we really end up going down this road too.

Btw...I am very sorry about your father and what you speak of here...the majority of people never wake up until it is too late it seems.

That's why I am scared of this all...so are a lot of doctors here in this county, I've talked to some, privately.

Serious Republicans better

Serious Republicans better start using every procedural trick in the book to obstruct and delay between now and 2010.

Obama and his gang are creating a crisis a day

Keeping citizens unsettled and unsure. Fear mongering stump speech after stump speech. Head spinning proposals that HAVE TO BE IMPLEMENTED RIGHT NOW. TODAY ALREADY.

Have you ever seen or heard anything like this in America?

Brazen National Socialist fascistic tactics day after day after day: whipping the citizenry into a frenzy of must do something, anything, please Dear Leader save us.

What the hell happened to the Senate's "cooling saucer of reason" to ameliorate the hot headed wild swings in the public mood being translated into hasty and ill-conceived legislation?

Jack...No I haven't ever

Jack...

No I haven't ever seen anything like what is happening to this country at break-neck speed here...the  brakes have to be put on somehow until the mid-term of 2010....and I'm talking about some of the dems knowing this, that is really the only hope we have for now in congress with votes and Bills/Amendments passing...

I hope I am not seeing the very last remnants of what America stood for before 2010...and if we don't win there, we are done in my opinion, too much damage is being done now, that cannot be undone in time to change a lot...

Oh heck...I'm shutting up...it is a sad day to watch the downfall of this once great country when the govt. is taking control of so much now...God help us all.

Doctors

I work for an oncology practice and I know that a couple of the doctors in the group actually voted for Obama.  Damn fools...

God bless her.  "I dare

God bless her.

"I dare say that Miss Garofalo knows little or nothing about black folk and definitely not black Republicans."

She could also have said that about B.O., since he's half Kenyan and half White and knows nothing, by way of experience, of what American Blacks have been through in America.

What Gabarfalot refuses to acknowledge is that republicans oppose B.O.'s policies and couldn't care less about his race.  But when you have  no arguments, it's easier to beat up your opponents with accusations of bigotry - the Left has perfected this low art.

SF... I hope so too...but

SF...

I hope so too...but the msm always seem to get rid of these great people on the right side of the aisle, arm in arm of course with the dem party...nothing like cooridnation...

This has happened for years, problem is from what I have seen is the silence from our side of the aisle when the hypocrisy and bias is done by the left side of the aisle...it has been maddening...

Schumer and what he and his team got away with when it came to Steele for just on instance here...there are plenty of others over the years....we have no bullhorn from our side of the aisle...none...they remain silent.

Ask Alan Keyes.
