Obama Official: 'At the White House, We Love MSNBC'

It appears the love MSNBC feels towards Barack Obama is not unrequited, for last Wednesday, a member of the Administration actually declared in public, "At the White House, as we always like to say, we love MSNBC."

Such occurred at the Atlantic Council Awards Dinner hosted by "Morning Joe"'s Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski.

After they introduced special assistant to President Obama for the arts and culture Kareem Dale, he began (video embedded below the fold, relevant section at 1:50, h/t Hot Air):

Thank you, thank you so much.  Thank you for that great introduction.  At the White House, as we always like to say, we love MSNBC.

What kind of a thrill will this news give Chris Matthews?

Gag me with a spoon

Hmmm, one Kareem Dale, Arts and Culture Minister. Guess we will be getting lots of 'rap music' shoved down our throats as culture. Grab your crotch and some bitches and ho's! I wonder if we are now allowed to call Michelle and the two girls the same? Isn't that a term of endearment?

DFTT-

Don't ever call Michelle a b-word, or an h-word! I heard she's a tranny...which should also be a term of "enchantment"

Ok- that was uncalled for...I take it back...

DFTT: I don't think your comment is very helpful in dispelling the idea that conservatives are intolerant racists.

"Originally from Chicago, Illinois,
Dale previously served as the National Disability Director for the
Obama for America campaign. He also served on the Arts Policy Committee
and the Disability Policy Committee for then-Senator Obama.

Dale
graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a
Bachelor's degree in Advertising in May 1995. He received his JD/MBA in
May 1999 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,
graduating Cum Laude. While attending law school, Dale was also active
in community service, including serving as president of two
organizations, the Black Law Students' Association and Open Forum." - Kareem Dale bio

Dale is disabled in that he's partially blind, which explains his interest in Americans with disabilities. Say what you want about the Chicago connection and his appointment to the post or his qualifications or lack thereof.  But unless you have evidence to present that proves that Dale represents (edited by author) gangsta rap music or routinely uses the sort of language you mention, I personally find your comment offensive. If I'm merely uninformed about the man, please enlighten me and I'll be happy to change my assessment.

Sorry QueenMum

Perhaps I should have put it differently.

I don't think 'rap' is artistic, no matter what anyone says. I know Obama supports it as such. These foul terms are celebrated and their use endorsed by people who support this garbage. I can only assume Obama supports them too.

The real thing that bugs me here is why do we need a Minister or Tsar of Arts and Culture? Why does the government have to stick their finger in this pie? Did Rembrandt need government help or guidance? Why do todays 'artists' need government help? Why do they need my taxes in order to be creative?

Didn't mean to offend, just being heavy with the sarcasm.

DFTF: Thank you. I agree

DFTF: Thank you. I agree that the penchant for Obama to appoint Czars (or Tsars) as political payback is so transparent. Maybe this is what he means when talks about "transparency". "You'll see by the way I govern that I'm clearly the product of the Chicago political machine. I have a gift."

I just have a problem with using rap music as an example in this case. I don't find it particularly uplifting either. But it's now a legitimate part of American culture. Heck when Elvis first made it big, it was suggested that he was nothing short of Satan himself. I suspect it had something to do with the black blues roots of his style. At the time, the country was still fully steeped in true racism. It's wasn't my intention to suggest anything about your personal motives. And your follow-up certainly cleared things up for me.

QueenMum

First, I always find your posts to be civil, and informative. Me, I usually do a hit and run with a sarcastic remark. Thanks for understanding.

That said, I know that rap has become culturally acceptable, but I don't accept it. It represents evil if you ask me. Many students, teachers and parents find cheating acceptable, I do not. I do not find the government social engineering in use today acceptable. I could go on but I'm sure I'm boring you.

Have a good day!

DFTT: Did you know there

DFTT: Did you know there are Christian rap artists? DC Talk is the first one to come to mind - although they haven't recorded for a while. Just pointing out that the musical genre called rap is not just about the thuggery, misogyny, and foul language represented by certain "artists".  It's a form, a style. To say it "represents" evil is a gross overstatement, IMO. If you'd care to, I'd like to hear you expand on why you think rap music is inherently evil. If not, that's fine. No harm, no foul. And I wish you a good day as well.

Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage's whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of the tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men. - Ayn Rand

The actual problem . . .

One can nitpick about what rap music is or isn't, but the critics of it aren't talking about the style -- they're criticizing the lyrics of those songs which demean women and promote violence.  Bill Cosby and Juan Williams are among the more outspoken black Americans criticizing those lyrics, so it's not just a matter of race.

No one is denying the importance of art to culture and society.  The issue has to do with Government 'promotion' of art, which is merely a euphemism for tax-dollar subsidies and its definition of art.

Typically, artists in the NEA who decide who gets or doesn't get these tax-dollars tell the taxpayers that art is whatever the NEA determines is art.  Hence, tax-dollars go to subsidizing such "art" as 'The Piss Christ' and the 'Maplethorpe exhibit,' which are more than objectionable -- they qualify as hate speech and pornography, respectively, under our current government definitions.

The best thing Washington can do to 'promote' the arts is stop paying for it with tax dollars.  Let philanthropists pay the tab with their own money.

money subsidies, and

Rap music

"

Galvanic: We are in agreement on this point. And I also understand that the argument regards offensive lyrics. But too often the intention is misunderstood when one simply uses the general term "rap music". That was my point with DFTT - nitpicky though it may be.

I could say something vulgar

but I won't; I'll just say that the feeling is mutual.

Before long, they will be bowing to Obama like Obama did to the Saudi King.

Say what?

Pretty SOON? They are bobbing now.

As Expected

After hearing that President Prissypants reads the homosexual activist blog written by Andrew Sullivan, this doesn't surprise me. The insane have taken over the asylum.

Not that big a deal

I wouldn't make too much of this, he's just praising his hosts. No suprise its a mutual admiration society and you're right Noel, Mathews will be thrilled to learn his love is not unrequited.

Next to his boss, this is the second dumbest man on the planet.

Well, that's what happens

when people choose a president solely on the basis of making history rather than choosing a president who has the credentials for running, rather than ruining, a nation.

Just wait: he is further going to ruin the country with his Supreme Court nominee.

Paul people choose their

Paul people choose their President for all sorts of reasons, and most of those reasons have nothing to do with any qualifications or aptitude for running the country.  Mostly it is a beauty contest with teh MSM telling you what is beautiful.

Quality Entertainment

We welcome the new administration interest in arts and culture. Kareem Dale is a fitting and eloquent special assistant to the president who leads the program. Tax payer dollars are being well spent. The U.S. is a nation that can never get enough of quality entertainment.

Didn't she say something about how Fox was her friend? These presidents and these channels need to break up!

Condoleezza Rice let slip

Condoleezza Rice let slip her media preferences on Thursday, saying "I love every single one" of Fox News network's correspondents and also favors CBS anchor Harry Smith.

In comments overheard on an open microphone between morning television interviews, including one with Fox, the top U.S. diplomat said: "My Fox guys, I love every single one of them."

It was not an open pronouncement like Dale did it.  It was a comment to some other yahoo an there was an open mike.  She also liked CBS.  Dale was stupid.  This was on some stupid site called Jossip.

This is great news!

This is great news.  All rooms will probably be required to have telescreens that have MSNBC on for 24 hours a day, and you won't be able to adjust the telescreen or the volume.  In fact each morning you can wake up to MSNBC and do exercises, and if you aren't exercising properly the voice from MSNBC will call you out.  I do think though that O'Brien will be allowed to turn off MSNBC for like 10 minutes, but after that he will have to turn it back on.

Hey, that's Sandra Bernhard,  to a tee.

Although it's somewhat

Although it's somewhat routine to acknowledge the hosts of such an event in such a manner. someone needs to inform Dale that the President should not be in the business of endorsing one media outlet over another - either on his own or in tandem with some of his appointees. Can't say for sure that this was a purposeful jab at Fox or other conservative media. If Obama himself wasn't in the habit of trash talking about Fox and conservative talkers, this wouldn't mean much.

Oh...

someone needs to inform Dale that the President should not be in the business of endorsing one media outlet over another

Oh, yeah, that...you're no fun.

Oh, I can just feel the "love"!

And I'll bet Chrissy can too!

This just confirms what most of us already knew... At the Obama White House, MSNBC really is "Must See TV"!!

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

It's funny how Obama watches MSNBC

yet, didn't know about the Tea Parties when asked about them.

Were the parties on there?

Maybe that's where Obama saw someone wave a tea bag?

That was when all of the MSNBC hosts

were calling it Teabagging Parties.  It goes without saying that they were all projecting.

Paul...I wouldn't be surprised if...

the idea to use the terms "tea bag" and "tea bagging" came from someone at the White House, who then fed it to MSNBC and CNN...Wouldn't surprise me a bit...

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

Rahm, perhaps?

Or, maybe Miz Hirry Crinton herself.

Hillary's a possible, but...

I'm thinking Rahmbo...This guy's a real thug, and it seems like something that he would do...

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

Paul...Sure, Obama didn't know...

about the tea parties...What a load of crap...Of course he knew...How stupid does he (do they) think we all are???

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

Yeah, like he wasn't getting

Yeah, like he wasn't getting briefed every five minutes.

SoL...Exactly!

Exactly! Of course he was...

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

He doesn't have to watch what he says

He can just make it up as he goes along and his lapdogs, who rise when he enters the room, will just report it as gospel.

After all, they have finally found a saviour in whom they can believe.

Paul...Absolutely...He is constantly...

tripping over something that he has previously said, or reversing himself, or just flat out saying something that isn't factually correct or true...I've never seen a president do this as much (or as early in his presidency) as Obama...Even the truth-challenged Clinton didn't seem to do it as much as "O"...And like you said, he doesn't have to worry about it, because he knows he's got just about the entire WH press corps and the MSM to cover for him...Makes me sick...

"The problem is not that people are taxed too little...the problem is that government spends too much." ~President Ronald Reagan

Must be nice to have pet TV network...

...and I bet Matthews and Olbermnn love their doggie collars...

Pet TV Network

I wonder if this is what the administration had in mind when they threatened the Chrysler bond-holders with the full wrath and fury of the "White House Press Corps" for refusing to along with Obama's bail-out plans.

Because if this is it....MSNBC is more of a chihuahua than a Rottie....just another hollow threat.  But the threat itself is troubling.

The transparancy is getting easier and easier even for the most jaded Obama fans to see through.  Obama didn't bow to the Saudi King, that plane didn't fly over Manhattan, and Toes doesn't give marching orders to the media.......riiiiiighttttt.

I hope he fails, too.

Make that a toothless chihuahau and I'll agree with you.

Hidden secret, a chihuahua can kill a Rottie.  That happens if the Rottie chokes to death on the bones while eating one.

"The transparancy is getting easier and easier even for the most jaded Obama fans to see through.  Obama didn't bow to the Saudi King, that plane didn't fly over Manhattan, and Toes doesn't give marching orders to the media.......riiiiiighttttt."

I've never been able to understand why so many (before and after the election) couldn't see through the smoke and mirrors that Obama has hidden behind from the beginning...It was (and is) so clear to so many of us...Maybe some are finally starting to take off the blinders that they have had on for way too long.

Your tax dollars, and genius president, at work

The $328,835 snapshots of an Air Force One backup plane buzzing lower Manhattan last week will not be shown to the public, the White House said yesterday.

What a surprise, huh???

That's what I call $328,835 of our tax money well spent, don't cha think??

Try this one that I heard the other day.

A mother in New Orleans is suing her daughters school. She claims that her daughter is being embarassed due to a bunch of stupid people's inability to pronounce her daughter's name properly.

OK; here we go. This is how her daughter's name is spelled:

"LE-A"  Now, how would you pronounce her name?

Guess what; it is pronounced "LeDASHA"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her mother explains, "The dash don't be silent".

And we caught 8 levels of hell for taking to long to save these people. God help us!

Hello, 911

Of course you do......

When someone is servicing you willingly, multiple times a day, how could you not love them?

MSNBC is THE propaganda channel for the current 'administration'. With as much crap that is shovelled out on that station, you's think it was a cattle yard, not a television network.

One of the problem is that people, just average people believe the tripe msnbc dishes out...to lazy to think for themselves, or truly brainwashed?

You make the call!

Stumpie...I say both...

"One of the problem is that people, just average people believe the tripe msnbc dishes out...to lazy to think for themselves, or truly brainwashed? "

Unfortunately, both are true...However, I think most are just too lazy to do their homework and look for the truth themselves...It's easier just to swallow the crap they're fed by the MSM...
