Greta Responds to Politico: 'I Have Never Given Gov. Palin Advice'

Greta Van Susteren is clearly sick and tired of people accusing her of advising Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

She's also fed up with what she referred to Sunday as a "hit and run":

This is why I hate “sources” and where journalism can be grossly unfair — in the law you have to step up on the witness stand and identify yourself and take an oath to tell the truth.

According to Van Susteren, that's not what Politico did on Sunday:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Is ABC’s Clair Shipman getting this - below - about her husband, former Time Magazine reporter and now Vice President Joe Biden’s Chief of Staff  Jay Carney? I hope not.  NBC’s Andrea Mitchell for her husband Alan Greenspan?  I hope not.  CBS’s Rita Braver, wife of lawyer Bob Barnett, who has represented or is currently the Clintons, the Bushes, President Obama and even Governor Palin for book deals and more?  I hope not.

Interesting questions, yes? After all, given some of the high-profile liberal journalists with politically connected husbands, why is she being so singled out? Is it because she works for Fox News?

Van Susteren never asked that question:

This is pretty silly….Politico has a story that is fanciful and silly. [...]

Usually I don’t bother to answer stuff written about me - true, false or exaggerated - since I know no one dies from what is written and I shrug it off.  But today….I want to give you an idea of something really silly and I won’t bother to answer it all but to give you a taste of the silliness (and to try to stop others from likewise taking this and running with it!)

Here is a sample from the article:

“….Another former Palin ally still in touch with the governor was blunt when asked to explain Palin’s missteps since the election: “Taking advice from Greta and her husband,” said this source….”  [Politico.com is the website click here]

Advice from me? huh [sic]? I am flattered someone would think people take advice from me but this is fanciful.

Note that it is from a  “source” — is that code for phoney? In this instance yes.   This is why I hate “sources” and where journalism can be grossly unfair — in the law you have to step up on the witness stand and identify yourself and take an oath to tell the truth.  You can’t do a “hit and run!”

I have never given Governor Palin advice - she does not need it from me.  I don’t even have her phone number or her email address.  I don’t think I have ever had a conversation with her off camera and if I have, it was 45 seconds!

Good on Greta...

...I've followed her career ever since the infamous "O.J." trial and God bless her...she's got SPUNK and SPIRIT and TRUTH in her heart.

Thank goodness she told it like it is.

Greta

She's a strong woman, and she can ask tough questions. She's still got that lawyer training, and she uses it well. Of the three prime time Fox "stars," I find her the most interesting.

Keep it up!

KC

You got that right. It doesnt matter the political slant she asks tough questions.Greta does it in a reasonable way.Greta is my favorite.Greta doesnt use just talking points.

I like Greta

Her show is interesting in that it mixes various current events with other political news, and she's become more vocal about her distaste for "politics as usual" in recent months. However, I have seen her interview more than one Politico reporter, and she often refers to them as a reputable news organization. I, personally, find their bias only slightly less invasive than say, CBS or ABC. Every time I see either a hit-piece on the GOP or a friendly Obama article, you can bet dollars to donuts that Jonathan Martin either wrote or co-wrote it. He's a lefty through-and-through. Frankly, I wish Greta would resolve herself to that fact that outside of Fox on tv and the Washington Times in print, there really are few credible news organizations anymore. And rather than respond in a blog, she should engage them on her show. Expose them (JM) as the hacks they are...

BKeyser, Greta is AMAZING...

I don't think I've EVER seen that woman flinch from a question ONCE.

My husband and I both think she has a major set of nads. I've come to adore her even though she does still talk out of one side of her mouth but hey...who's perfekt? Ain't me, homey!

BTW...

When I mentioned "talk out one side of her mouth" I meant that PHYSICALLY not metaphorically.

Just clearing that up to be cogent. :)

I actually find her quite

I actually find her quite attractive- so whether she talks out of one side of her mouth or not, I'm more worried about whether she has "nads"! Don't burst my bubble Mother, I'd hate to be stuck on that vision at 10pm every night!  ;-b

BKeyser ROTFL!

Maybe I'm churlish but the 'nads' comment cracked me up! he-he!

I agree about Greta's 'Attractive' factor...she used to have a 'hippy' look and then she got some 'work' done. I don't think she really needed the 'work'...a simple make-over would have sufficed.

ANYWAY...ahem... I really like Greta...so far she's not given me a reason to print up her picture and use it for target range practice which is cool beans in my book. lol

Wary of jokes

I just hope, for her own sake, she has no comedians around. I think if she broke out in a full smile, or God forbid, busted a gut, her face would crack.

(All right, I'm done being a meanie for tonight.)

"This
liberal would be all about socialize -- uh, uh, would be about
basically taking over and the government running all of your companies."-Maxine Waters 2008

RESTLESS 1, How dare YOU!

LOL! "I think if she broke out in a full smile, or God forbid, busted a gut, her face would crack. "

Okay, that was sad but truly HILARIOUS!

Let's face it folks... 'Greta' got a 'Fox Girls' makeover. Greta step slowly away from the Fox Girl lip-gloss. LOL!

"Sources say..."

Frankly, that line reads like a junior high gossip blog.  As in, "All the really cool kids are saying..." or, "the really kewl science teacher says that..."

"Sources say" has no place in professional jouralism.  Cite your sources, or go home.

"Greta Van Susteren is

"Greta Van Susteren is clearly sick and tired of people accusing her of advising Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin."

And those same people have no problem with Katie Couric getting advice from Obama supporters on how to interview Palin.

Wow, a newsperson giving

Wow, a newsperson giving advice to a politician...that would be something new and disturbing, wouldn't it?!

What if the libs heard about this and started doing the same thing?!

Pewah, HAH!

I can't sleep so I'm up to 'opine' too muchly.

Anyhoo, Libtards are in the tank with...well...er...Libtards. Greta actually has some cojones speaking up for Palin when so many pansy-@ssed wussies in the media DON'T.

Palin is STRONG, GORGEOUS and WELL-SPOKEN. She's not 'perfect' but that's part and parcel of being a HUMAN BEING. I'm pretty darned envious of that woman...she's uber KEWL in my book. Just sayin'. :)

I think it's great Greta is

I think it's great Greta is saying she didn't give advice to Gov Palin, but so what if she did. I mean with Chrissy and Overbite and Steffie and tons of democrap reporters not only giving advice to Mr. Obama but scrubbing his almost every utterance to make them palatable and gaffe free (which is a humongous job in and of itself), if someone did the same for the repubs, that would be an implementation of the libs' loving 'Fairness Doctrine' in action.

She's fed up? Why??

ABC’s Chief Washington Correspondent
George Stephanopoulos holds daily conference phone calls with Obama's
White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel.

Also frequently on the line are CNN's commentator
Paul Begala; political advisor to both Clintons, James (judas) Carville;
and political pollster Stan Greenberg.

Greta, dear, a simple "BL0W ME" should suffice to these obtuse bigot media cockroaches who seek to manufacture the news.

Re Gun Rights

I also like Greta, but she is a crime reporter at heart and should stay out of politics. Fox News knows this and that's why when there's a major political event, her show is the only one pre-empted. Her position on the 2nd Amendment also troubles me; I don't think she knows which end of a gun the bullet comes out of, and with folks like that you can't expect them to give gun rights a fair shot. She signs up much too readily to the nonsense 'Mexicans using US guns' propaganda.

"Drive-by media

This is a good example of what Limbaugh defines as the "drive-by media."
