President Obama unveiled a new Afghanistan strategy on Friday.
As US News reported:
The new policy, according to a senior State Department official, places elevated priority on standing up the Afghan government's fledgling civilian capabilities to deliver public services and establish its authority throughout the country.
Here's how award-winning British cartoonist Peter Brookes depicted this new strategy at the Times:
Given the harsh treatment former President Bush took from American cartoonists -- are you listening Ted Rall? -- it will be interesting to see how our comic satirists go after Obama in the years to come.
Stay tuned.

G-d knows the foreign press has not been kind to our recent Presidents, but I think you have to go all the way back to Carter to find one characterized as a wuss.

Obama epitmozies the moral and societal emasculation that liberals and leftists represent.
And he does so in spades--and that's not a racist statement.

Commander Obama's Overseas Contingency Operations Orders
March 29, 2009 - 12:36 ET by metaphorsbwithuNow let's give the Commander-in-Chief a chance. He did say during the campaign that he wanted to escalate the campaign in Afghanistan.
Surely we can wait until we see the results of the first of Commander Obama's Overseas Contingency Operations Orders ... or, as the strategy will be referred to in the media, "Coo-Coo" ...
Uh, maybe someone should ask ... "do we have an exit strategy yet!"

Unless
March 29, 2009 - 17:24 ET by UpNorththe O'ster decides, ala LBJ, to pick individual Taliban to target, I think the people in charge, Petraeus namely, will do fine. At least I pray that's the truth. If we are to ever get out, the Afghans need their own army and "police" to stand up. That requires advisors and trainers. But, mostly it requires combat troops to kill the ones who want to kill us. Apparently the Doofus in Chief won't/can't convince NATO to send more troops, or money either, so, with the exception of the British, and few other allies who haven't yet been insulted by the morons in DC, it'll be up to us to see it through.
um...ok
March 29, 2009 - 18:52 ET by zfWhile, I guess it's nice to see Obama attacked and all, the main point is that the attack is from a leftist perspective, that somehow escalating our efforts and commit in Afghanistan is wrong and that somehow this is some sort of caving in to the Afghan authorities.
Bullcrap. Let's not celeberate this. Our campaign in that country is not only moral, but a necessary font in the war against terror. I don't see how anyone on the right can oppose this. While I'm sure Obama is not doing this for any moral or principled reasons, that does not mean we should go along with the basic and flawed premise of the cartoonist. The Afghan command our our allies, not our enemies. Sorry, Mr. Brookes. This is not cowing down to our allies, but striking back at our enemies, whose morale is boosted by crap like that cartoon. Obama is caving, but to the people who have told him to get his head out of the sand about terrorism and get serious about it.
The real scandal is how Obama childishly attacked the president of Afghan before all this and put a wedge between the countries. But the left don't want you to know about that, just the stuff they don't like, like how he is 'escalating' the conflict. So don't let yourself be thrown off track too, guys. It seems now with victory in Iraq, we're getting the same tired defeatist meme about Afghan from the MSM that we got from Iraq. Stuff like, 'we are losing, Afghan government is too incompetent, look at the mess we made, blah, blah."
Considering the MSM's previous track record, I am suspicious of this current meme too.
