Obama Protests aka Tea Parties Largely Ignored by Media

Since CNBC's Rick Santelli first suggested a Chicago Tea Party to protest President Obama's plans to "stimulate" the economy and bailout homeowners through unrestrained government spending, organized demonstrations have been occurring across the fruited plain.

In fact, as Glenn Reynolds reported moments ago, there's one happening today in Cincinnati.

Unfortunately, unless you frequent conservative websites, you'd have no idea that such events were being staged.

Despite their lack of coverage, as Knoxnews.com revealed Sunday, these Tea Parties are springing up all over the country (image courtesy Geldpress):

Let's count 'em: Cincinnati, Nebraska, Tampa, Lexington, Ridgefield, Conn., Raleigh, Orlando, D.C., Staten Island, Pasadena, Boston, Rochester, N.Y., Jacksonville, Minnesota, Cleveland, Columbus, Mo., Little Rock, Ark., Philadelphia, Kansas City, Harrisburg, Green Bay, Salt Lake City, Fullertown, Lafayette, Boise, Monterey, Maui, Yonkers, Utah, Tucson, Phoenix, Hoboken and Chicago, to name a few.

Did you know there have been that many? If you didn't, don't feel embarrassed for these have gone almost totally ignored.

For instance, with the exception of Fox News and CNN, no major television outlet has covered even one of these events except the original proposed by Santelli on February 19.

Compare that to how these networks practically fell all over themselves to report war protests after the public's opinion changed concerning Iraq in late 2003.

As for print, Tea Parties have been completely ignored by the Washington Post, USA Today, the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Herald, and the San Francisco Chronicle.

I guess Americans protesting the president's policies just isn't newsworthy when there's a Democrat in the White House.

*****Update: InstaGlenn's got many more pictures of Tea Parties here

  I guess Americans

I guess Americans protesting the president's policies just isn't newsworthy when there's a Democrat in the White House.

Or when it's conservatives doing the protesting. Definitly not newsworthy.

won't touch these demonstrations either.

Maybe someone should call them and say there is an anti-war protest happening.

San Diego

The one here was covered by all the local channels. There are supposed to be more. Several picket lines late in the day on April 15th, at the main post offices because all the stations cover the people who wait to pay their taxes at the last minute, then on Saturday, April 18th [because conservatives work and can't protest during the week]. I only heard about these on Roger Hedgecock's program Thursday, so don't have all the details yet.

We had 4-5 idiot traitors doing an anti-war protest from 2003-2008 on Route 23 (NJ) and they had no trouble getting coverage in the local paper.  Several times IIRC.  Tea Parties?  Our local news never heard of 'em.

Everyone needs to take April 15 off from work and attend this: http://www.taxdaytea...

combine your 2nd amendment

combine your 2nd amendment rights along with these tea-parties and they will start to cover them. just make sure you bring rubber-boots because the press will be peeing all over the place.

They should all dress in

They should all dress in black, wear kerchiefs over their faces, and have one of them hold a lighter under a U.S. flag...have lots of Ho Chi Minh, Che, Marx and Mao Tse Tung posters about.

Just when the press shows up, stand the flag straight up, put away the lighter and start singing God Bless America, rip down the Commie posters covering the images of Reagan and get on with the real protest.

RR, I was thinking along the same lines

Conspiracy or Incompetence?

There's been a blackout of old media reporting on tea parties, that I do not doubt. My only question is whether it is organized across networks and newspapers, or it is simply an edict from the heads of those organizations. During President George W. Bush's presidency, the perpetually-in-tears Cindy Sheehan and a few of her moonbat friends were guaranteed TV time anytime and anywhere. Now that Obammy has taken the White House, dissent has been 'disappeared'.

Noel,

A most excellent job! The pics and links were great. Looks like the fire is spreading!

But, yet these same MSM

But, yet these same MSM sources can not figure why they are going out of business....?

I live in Cincinnati and

I live in Cincinnati and unfortunately I'm in New York on business this weekend or I would have attended. I just checked all the local news websites and the only local Cincy station reporting anything is a blurb on the NBC affiliate WLWT. Nothing from CBS,ABC or Fox websites.

I would estimate at least 5,000 in attendance. Last week every frickin' local station covered a half dozen ACORN clowns trying to stop a foreclosure.

These media assholes make me sick !

Over 6000 took the time to commit online!

WCPO's coverage is ever evolving.  They originally called them an angry group.  Now, they have toned it down to merely being driven away by a small angry mob.  Read the comments of those that were there.  There are also accusations of some phot editing going on as well.  Read the comments from attendees:

Par for the course these days, if you want the real story, you'll have to rely on the bloggers:

Note the one photograph WCPO has in contrast with Powerline and Instapundit's.

Thanks for the Tea Party

Thanks for the Tea Party pics and links!

I think the lack of coverage by MSM will encourage more protestors.

I will attend the Tea Party in Nashville, TN. on April 15th.  Can't wait!!!!!!!

Surely no one is surprised? But you'd think thost patriotic Dems

. . . would applaud such protests.

After all, "dissent is patriotic," isn't it?

Oops. Forgot that only applies to the Demockacrats/Dementocrats undermining the president and government when they are the minority.

For sure, it doesn't apply when directed to them and their socialist/Marxist/anti-American/anti-freedom/anti-life words and policies.

California's Tea Party has highlighted the running feud between

conservative talk radio in Los Angeles and the very liberal Los Angeles Times. As Noel pointed out, the liberal media is ignoring these revolts against Obama's spend and tax policies, as well as the tax and spend policies of California's Democratic lawmakers. California's budget deficit stands at $42 Billion.

Los Angeles talk radio KFI AM-640 hosts John (Kobylt) and Ken (Chiampou) have been one of the leaders in this tax and spend revolt in California. A recent Tea Party they put together drew an estimated 8,000. One local paper, The Orange County Register (in conservative Orange County), did document the protest and wrote:

"They're revolting. Families with children, bikers, seniors, pirates - by the thousands descended on a Fullerton bar Saturday to join talk show hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of KFI in protesting tax increases recently approved in Sacramento."

The liberal Los Angeles Times ignored the protest. The Times has criticized John and Ken in the past. Recently the Times James Rainey wrote: "KenJohn told their minions they intended to create enough "chaos" in Sacramento to overturn tax increases. Having failed on that score, they now suggest things need to get worse before they get better."

Of course, John and Ken have lambasted the Los Angeles Times many times for their bias reporting, and their support of liberal tax and spend policies, as well as their support of illegal immigration.

So how does the Los Angeles Times retaliate? They published a piece today titled: Conservative talk radio on the wane in California.

If you are interested in seeing how we Tea Party in California, Joy A. Kennelly has a bunch of photos of the Fullerton, Ca. protest on her blog.

The LA Times is inferior

The LA Times is inferior bird cage liner on its best days, but over the last several years it has become a pathetic joke.  Were it not for its overrated sports section, it would have gone the way of the dinosaur ages ago.  This most recent attack is hilarious.  The Larry Elder Show went off the air to make way for 3 hours of Mark Levin...opposite John & Ken.  John Ziegler left KFI not because of a lack of an appetite for conservative talk radio...but because he got in a very nasty public dispute with John Kobylt of the John & Ken Show, and it became a "him or me" proposition.  KFI was not about to let its most popular on-air talent go...so they replaced Ziegler with a Bryan Suits and Kennedy (two people with similar political views to John Ziegler).  The journalistic dishonesty and malpractice performed by the LA Times on a daily basis is embarrassing.

The biggest Tea Parties are to happen on April 15th

search #teaparty on twitter to find out where one may be near you.  We have to get out and be heard

As lowlife, traitorous and shameful as the following is...

Americans protesting the president's policies just isn't newsworthy when there's a Democrat in the White House. This is just the hard cold facts about todays sorry MSM, they have joined obama in Godlessness.

RD, the local press are very interested

We've already given one interview tonight about the Dallas Tax Day Tea Party.  Put 5,000 protesters anywhere and the local news folks will go wild over it.  The Dallas tea party is going to be huge.  Tomorrow I'm inviting Chuck Norris to speak!

I stand corrected then if you are part of the MSM and thank you for bringing that to my attention, It would be nice to join your party in Dallas but not possible. I will be attending a tea party here locally on the 21st. Hopefully in mass we can bring about some change for America to the good.

I'm in NYC and I've been

I'm in NYC and I've been posting my idea of taking the tea party to the MORNING NEWS SHOWS. They always have Al Roker or something talking to the outside audience. I thought as a preview, we could have people with signs about the evening protest that will be staged.I think it's cool if people start at various media locations (NYTimes, ABC's Good morning america, NBC's Today show, etc.) and then get in their camera pans of the crowd. Then march to a central location to protest.

If that doesn't work, ultimately we need to BRING THE TEA PARTY to the MEDIA and call them out on it...Like "another demo that the media can't see what's under its nose" or "watch how the media ignores information--can't trust them to do their jobs."

Finally, we need to find outlets that are sympathetic. Or competitors--would Telemundo or NY1 report on how people are protesting over at the New York Times or any of their competitors? Should we call the National Enquirer so they can plaster it in their tabloids--after all, they did break the John Edwards affair.

Then we should also bring the tea party near campuses, especially in NYC, where students have the time to see what's goin on--it'll increase the numbers of the crowd.

The MSM

is still in love with Obama so you will not see these tea party protester. However, there is still the April 1st tea bag mailing so protesters don't get discouraged. Maybe when the Obama Administration is receiving all those tea bags in the mail the MSM will find it news worthy but even if they don't you can still be pleased just knowing the President knows just how many of us are not happy with his "change."

American Patriot's...

American patriots demostrating against the destruction of America by Ultra Liberal anti-americans, not covered by the untra-liberal press who have shown a desire to destroy America even as their own profession is destroyed by their liberalism. Dum-de-dum-dum, What a shock. The only thing that will get their attention is violence which will be necessary in the future. Ropes and trees instead of tea bags. Face it, A tactical nuc in the middle of D.C. would do $50 trillion in 'Improvements' for America.

Old, Retired and glad of it.

April 1st Tea Bag Mailing

April 1 start sending 1 tea bag to the White house. We want them to reach Washington by April 15.

Send it to:

The White House    1600 Pennsylvania Ave.     Washington , D.C.  20500

I received this and it sounds quite interesting - I will send my tea bag - will you join me???

There's a storm abrewin'.  What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet?  Washington has forgotten they work for us.  We don't work for them.  Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer.  I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan.  I am sick of Congress raking CEO's over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes.  I am sick of the bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar.  I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford.  I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes.  I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen.  I pay my taxes.  I live on a budget and I don't ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make.  I have emailed my congressmen and senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first.  No one listened.  They voted for it, pork and all.

O.K. folks, here it is.  You may think you are just one voice and what you think won't make a difference.  Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!!   If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes.  If you are fearful of the fallout from the wreckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and "stimulate" without accountability and responsibility then we need to become ONE, LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA.   There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens.  What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.

So, here's the plan.  On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG to Washington, D.C.   You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire.  Just a TEABAG.   Many cities are organizing protests.  If you simply search, "New American Tea Party", several sites will come up.  If you aren't the 'protester' type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG.  Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way.  Yes, something needs to be done but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.

This was not my idea.  I visited the sites of the 'New American Tea Party' and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1??  We want them to reach Washington by April 15.   Will you do it?  I will.       Send it to:   The White House    1600 Pennsylvania Ave.     Washington , D.C.  20500

Forward this to everyone in your address book.  Google the 'New American Tea Party'.  I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1.  Can't guarantee what the postage will be by then, it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready.  What will this cost you?  A little time and a 40 - something cent stamp.

What could you receive in benefits?  Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people.  Take out the Pork.  Tell us how the money is being spent.  We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY.  Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4 - 5 years.  It is not too late.

Fox covered it this

Fox covered it this morning, and it was pretty neat!

tea parties

what we need to do is start a mail in party.  Everyone mail a tea bag to your representative on May Day.  we can inundate then with enough that the media will have to cover it.  May day is of course a great day as it is when all good Socialists celebrate.

Jim

The internet is getting the

The internet is getting the story out about these tea parties and the refusal of the media to cover or even acknowledge them, will only lend an air of legitimacy to the events. Tea parties are becoming a true protest form, and an anti government movement similar in concept to the sit ins of the 60's. These are really events for the avg citizen, without the contrived, put on socialist crap to contend with.

nadadhimmi, I agree...

Thank GOD for the internet! MuthaF***in' MSM is a JOKE.

  Probably the only reason

Probably the only reason anyone ever heard of the sit-ins was because they were protesting all the things that the media still hates.

Tea Party in Green Bay?

I'm 90 miles west of Green Bay and never heard of this tea party. We have two television stations and a newpaper and not a word was heard! I just happened to see the pictures on the internet.

www.CrusaderPatriot.com

Sean Hannity mentioned NewsBusters and Noel's Tea Party blog

article on his radio show today. He read from this article the names of some of the cities where Tea Parties are taking place.

It seems all the important people read NewsBusters! Now if we can just get the liberal media types who read NewsBusters to change their ways and attempt to be more fair and balanced. (yeh, that will be the day).
