Ann Coulter to Debate Bill Maher in Boston

On March 10, conservative author Ann Coulter will debate liberal comedian Bill Maher at the Citi Performing Arts Center in Boston.

Sadly, the facility only seats 3,600 people, for this event, ironically organized by Madison Square Garden Entertainment, is sure to be a hot ticket given the fiery personalities involved.

As reported by the Eagle-Tribune Sunday:

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

"MSG Entertainment is proud to present our second speaker series as we expand these highly charged and relevant political events to Boston during one of the most exciting and, at times, controversial political landscapes of our time," said Melissa Miller Ormond, chief operating officer for MSG Entertainment. "We hope that the 'Speaker Series: The Minds That Move The World' will not only provide guests with an informative and empowering experience that will help them make educated political decisions, but also encourage people to engage in continued dialogue surrounding the most significant current events of our day."

The series begins March 10, and will continue into June. Speakers include former Vice President Al Gore, former Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, high profile political strategist James Carville, comedic political commentator Bill Maher, political activist Al Sharpton, and commentators Ann Coulter, Charlie Rose, Soledad O'Brien, Lisa Ling and John Quinones.

Here's the schedule:

March 10: Bill Maher and Ann Coulter

March 30: Former Vice President Al Gore

May 27: Charlie Rose interviewing James Carville and former Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove

June 9: Soledad O'Brien interviewing Al Sharpton, Lisa Ling and John Quinones

Isn't it interesting that the only figure refusing to share the stage is Al Gore? I guess the Nobel Laureate wants to continue to foster the canard that there's a scientific consensus concerning global warming by continuing to avoid any debate on the subject.

What a guy.

Should be

That should be a hell of a smack-down, Ann is intelligent and witty while Maher is snide and condescending.

Ann vs. Bill

I'd like to see her punch him in the face. I don't what's to be gained here, other than embarassing Bill. But, you have to figure that his fans will be oblivious to that due to the nature of their mental derangement.

"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
George Mason

and yet....

I agree with you on Coulter' intelligence and Maher's mean-spiritedness and yet I would be willing to bet that Maher attempts to make Coulter out to be the bad guy....the very very very bad guy.  Especially on his favorite subject of religion, Maher will try to paint Coulter as the picture of brainwashed idiocy.  It is a good thing that Ann is strong enough in her beliefs that she will more likely than not beat Ol' Billy-boy on this one.

I think at the end of it all, Maher will have made Coulter the victor, though his intent is the opposite, for several reasons:

He will attack vituperously

He will revert to childish whining

He will use fuzzy logic that nobody other than he can follow

And of course there is the fact that just standing next to her will make him look like a troll.  ;0)

Note to Coulter. No

Note to Coulter.

No matter how she acts, nor what she says, it will be protrayed as a mean spirited effort.

Therefore, since she will be universally labled by the press in that manner, she might as well go all out.

Bayonet Maher with logic, and allow him to look as STUPID in his replies as he is. Do NOT allow him off the mat when he looks idiotic.  JUST PILE ON!!!

Do not say anything "Senatorial" like "My Good friend Bill..." since he will NOT reciprocate in any manner.  He will attempt to make her look vicious and meanspiritied towards the poor.  So BAYONET his rear end by making him look over emotional and foolish in his chosen policies.

She must fight this like it is a fight to the death because her enemies will see it that way.

Absolutely BD...

UFC rules. But only as a guideline, no ref.

Tacticly, I'd advise she concentrate heavily on revealing the shallowness of his knowledge in as many disciplines as time allows. Calmly....nah brutaly, trump him with detail at every opportunity.

Huckabee easily smacked

Huckabee easily smacked down Maher on religion. You could tell Maher had never heard the other side of his arguments. He did a whole "documentary" on the subject and yet couldn't debate Huckabee. I'm certainly no bible thumper but could tell Maher got owned. Liberals like Maher rarely engage in real debate so they are lost when they find themselves in one. Maher stacks his panel to a 3 vs 1 contest on who can suck the most oxygen out of the room and calls that balance. However, Coulter loves debate. She seeks debate. If its not there, she will create it. I look for Maher to attempt to shield himself by using ad hominems against her that will cause his fan base to hoot but will look desperate to everyone else.

Maher does best when he is talking to idiots

Maher does best when he is talking to idiots who don't know any better.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

That's no tall feat.

Sherri Shepherd from The View smacked down Maher and she's not the well of brilliance.

"Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." - Francois Guisot

Of course, you're right. But it won't just be Maher . . .

. . . who attacks, whines, uses HUTA logic and worse, paints Coulter as some moral fossil, especially anything having to do with God -- and I don't mean Allah, or Pepsi-Cola bottles or human beings, etc.

He will also attack her viciously on what she's said about America standing up for itself, for taking the war to the Islamofascists and, generally, for not compromising herself, swallowing Jim Jones Obama's Kool-Aid and going to sleep, allowing the pod replica of Coulter to awaken.

Do I Remember This Correctly?

Did or didn't Coulter and Maher date at one time?

Caringwhiteguy, In this

Caringwhiteguy,

In this interview with the Cornell Sun, Maher's wording regarding his relation with Coulter suggests that maybe they did - or maybe they didn't. Who know?

Either way, kinda interesting.

Ann will slay the dragon

"comedic political commentator Bill Maher" -- there's an oxymoron. Nothing comedic about that oxygen-waster Maher.

Slay the Dragon?

More like stomp the lizard...

Ann will kick Bills arse inside out.  Talk about a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent...

They could make a mint on pay per view...I'd pay for sure.  They could give the proceeds to the winners favorite charity.   I wonder which one Ann would pick?

Happy Trails...

Some MSG sponsored events in NYC too . . .

Coulter and Maher will also be debating each other the night before, March 9, at Radio City Music Hall in NYC (Capacity: 6,000), which is owned and operated by MSG. Additionally at Radio City:

- March 31 Anderson Cooper interviewing Arianna Huffington, D.L. Hughley and Mike Huckabee
- April 20 Janet Reno, Alberto Gonzales and John Ashcroft
- May 26 Charlie Rose interviewing James Carville and Karl Rove

I guess AlGore felt that in NY his avoidance to debate would be noticed.

How shall Bill Maher get out

How shall Bill Maher get out of doing this?  Surely he knows that he stands no chance at all, right?

He needs this to keep his face in the news . . .

He also thinks, I'm guessing, through his Obama-like arrogance, that once the "light" of his philosophy of life, politics and mores get compared to Coulter, there will be the Great Ah-Hah! moment in America--and all who've been conservative will fall to their faces, plant their noses in the carpet and beg forgiveness from His Hope-and-Change-ness in D.C. for having had the audacity to be independent thinking, freedom loving, life respecting, God fearing, America loving and, generally, everything that Barack Obama and the Democrats, liberals and leftists are not.

He'll call in sick...

Nothing new there...sick...sick ...sick...

Happy Trails...

This is a no brainer...

Ann Coulter versus a failed actor whose biggest accomplishment was the movie "Pizza Man".

Grease it up, Maher, 'cause here it comes!!!!

It will be a great debate

I do not agree Ann will wipe the floor with him, but it is a possibility.

You cannot get more to the left or right or these two.

He had my vote

Oh, yes you can get further right . ..

It's that he must think that he's got some semblance of chance to break even or not get embarrassed too much.

Either way, he wins, because he shows up and the advocacy/adversary media will portray Coulter as some Right-Wing extremist, a God-clinging, Constitution-loving meanie who represents that which must be eradicated in America.

Shawn, Unless Maher can

Shawn,

Unless Maher can bus in all the date rapists from the local frat houses to cobble together another Real Time "dawg pound", Ann will flog him.  But according to Ian Faith, Spinal Tap's band manager, Boston isn't a big college town, so I guess he'll have to find another resource to collect enough goons to shout her down and give his every smirk a standing O.

If I were Coulter I would

If I were Coulter I would request security be performed by the Ranger Teams of the ROTC Detachments of UMASS and MIT.  Equip them with mattock handles and keep them in the wings to await anyone approaching with a pie....

God, I would PAY to see that.

Hi fitz

You must be so glad to out of Cali huh? Our State should be renamed "handbasket"

I would say that they are both pretty sharp people in their own way  and can both debate. What I am hoping for is for a good moderater.

Even though I do not agree with Ann on many topics, I hate it when people talk over her and do not give her a chance.

I will also be dissapointed if this debate is the both of them talking over each other.

He had my vote

Hi Shawn

Yeah, I don't really miss "The Golden State" too much.  I do keep abreast of local politics there, though.  But it's not like we've got much of a budget picnic going on here in the shadow of Wall Street!  Timing is everything, I guess.

Back when I lived in LA, I used to occasionally see Bill Maher at an Irish Pub on Wilshire in Santa Monica.  Mark Levin is right, he is a dwarf. :-)

I have to say, though, he has never struck me as being particularly sharp.  He's always had the advantage of pre-canned lines, an unbalanced guest panel and a compliant audience.  Have you ever heard Bill Maher get booed on his own show?  It happened to Carson, it happens to Leno, Letterman and O'Brien.  I know this is anecdotal, and subject to correction by people who have watched Maher's HBO show more than I have (and I used to be a semi-regular Politically Incorrect viewer), but I have never seen one of his punchlines fall flat with that audience.  He just strikes me as the kind of guy who needs training wheels to ride a bike...once he doesn't have the security of his comfortable setting, he falls off.

But, I could be wrong. :-)

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." -Winston Churchill

Bill Maher sharp?

Bill may be a lot of things...but "sharp" is not among em'.

He's nothing but a joke. ..a parody...while Ann is a Goddess...okay...not a Goddess but...I think you know what I mean...I admire her greatly.  Certainly compared to Bill she IS a Goddess, as Bill is less than a worm by scale.

I'm willing to bet that I could engage him in debate and by the end of the debate,  have him arguing my points and he'd never even realize what happened.

I've done it before to similarly minded twits.  Very satisfying that....and funeeee to the extreme.

Happy Trails...

Poor Bill

He's going to a gun fight with a pea-shooter in his hand.

He won't win a debate with

He won't win a debate with Ann even if he does finally clean out the ol' hash bong.

Al Gore?

Al Gore can't debate AGW, he's too stupid. Expecting Al Gore to debate AGW is like expecting the Energizer Bunny to explain to us how a Nickel Cadmium cell works. Gore is a celebrity spokesman for a product, nothing more.

Gee, I wonder why Al Gore

Gee, I wonder why Al Gore won't be debating with anyone -------------YET AGAIN!

Ann Motto v. Maher the Mouth

Ann's comment on the pending "debate" with Maher.

"Having a debate with you is like dueling with an unarmed man!

 You go Girl!

My guess

My guess is that she will kick his butt.  However, when you hear the reports from the liberal media it will be reported just the opposite.  But who I really want Ann to debate is Keith Olbermann.  Tell me that that wouldnt be fun to watch.

T

KO

You and me both!!!

Who would want

Who would want to share a stage with Gore anyway? So that they can be talked down to like a kindergartener?  Thanks, but no thanks.

Here's My Take

Ann comes loaded for bear; she'll spend the next eight days prepping herself, and be at the top of her game.  Bill Maher, on the other hand, will just show up, relying on his arrogant self-indulging persona to go head to head.  Dogged preparation vs. arrongant persona - preparation wins, hands down.

Love Ann

Ann will show up with her brain and Billy will show up with Hef and an 18 year old with fake boobies.

Al Gore will debate himself, afterall he IS the Master-de-bater!!!

mommy

Well, considering that

Well, considering that Coulter is used to making appearances where she is constantly being interrupted and having food thrown at her (liberal college students must be so proud) and assuming that doesn't happen at this event (you never know), then she already has the advantage over Maher.

AGW?

Re Al Gore and AGW, right now in Atlanta we have what the local weather folks call thundersnow. Expect 3-4". Strange stuff.

This will be priceless with

This will be priceless with Coulter vs. Maher!

I can't wait!

Ann should mop the floor

Ann should mop the floor with Maher if it is a real debate. Maher, despite popular consensus, ain't too bright. He never knows more about a given subject than can fit on one of his 6 x 4 blue cards. Except, of course, where to get a hooker that makes house calls at 4am in any given city.

My concern is that it won't really be a debate but more of a  choreographed 'show'. These two are pals, don't forget. And, I just can't see Maher consenting to a real, balls out, debate.

No doubt Ann is the brain here

but such a small audience.  Did i miss that it is going to be broadcast?   THAT would be wonderful.  However given the nature of the media and their over use of 'edit' i think there will be enough controversy for those who favor Maher to claim a win on his part.  Evil seems to win out over good a great deal of the time lately.

Shut Up and Let Me Sell My Carbon Offsets

Algore already has declared that the time for debate is over.  How can you still debate?  Oh, you probably thought we were discussing a scientific question.  Since science consists of continuous inquiry and examination.  Plainly Algore long ago left the realm of science.  But I have read that the Goricle has made $100 million from selling carbon offsets.   And multi-multi-millionaires don't need science all that much.

You know?

Ann: Those are the facts Bill.

Bill: Oh yeah? Oh yeah! Well guess what Ann, you're, uh, you're just a girl! So there.

Ann Coulter Debates Bill Maher

Ann Coulter debating Bill Maher? No contest. Bill's in way over his head. 'Nuff said.

Coulter and Maher?

This should be on pay-per-view.

I just hope Maher doesn't

I just hope Maher doesn't assault Ann with his nose.  She could get hurt.

Oh, wait, his brain is located in his nose.  I doubt he would risk injury to the gooey gray stuff in there.

 "March 30: Former Vice

"March 30: Former Vice President Al Gore" vrs ??????

Sorry that's not a debate.

Al Gore continiues to be incapable of debating anyone with 2 brain cells.

It's obvious that The Goracle is once again debating scientific fact/common sense.

Al Gore should debate the

Al Gore should debate the new EU president (i forget his name) ,but i read that he point blank told Gore that Global warming was a phoney....

as for Ann, she will hands down win the debate.

One of the things I like about Ann Coulter

I really like the fact she is not afraid to share the stage and openly debate skilled debaters with opposing view points. She travels unsafe ground, and works without a net. Thats a mark of intelligence. I hope they make a DVD out of that debate.

Beware of a crazy woman throwing a hash pipe.

i bet that before the

i bet that before the debate, Maher will be PRAYING!

this sad little soulless man will be praying that he comes off sounding like the victor....

Glad you're on deck!

Would it be possible to pull a CNN on Gore?

Does anyone remember, a while back, when the Today show ambushed Ann Coulter with Elizabeth Edwards?  DO you think MSG would hit Gore with George Will?  Nah, liberals are subject to the same treatment as Conservatives.

Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.

It will be fun watching two

It will be fun watching two women debate!!

Sven.... LOL...that is

Sven....

LOL...that is the funniest comment I have read yet about all of this!

Hi BT!

I'm sorry, but Bill Maher is the archtypical Metrosexual. These type of men just seem more like women! No disrespect to women mind you ;-)

Here's Hoping They Do Coulter/Maher Right

I'm among those who fear that the moderator(s) will allow Bill Maher to act like the anti-intellectual, repulsive, reptilian, sub-scum slime-ball that he is, which would turn the debate into a stupid joke.

Wrong

Mr. Faith couldn't be more wrong. Boston has to be one of the biggest college towns in the world. Hasn't he heard of Harvard, M.I.T., Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, and Tuffts to name a few? Guy must be your typical well informed Liberal.

It was a joke...Ian Faith

It was a joke...Ian Faith is a fictional character from the movie This Is Spinal Tap.  He played the incompetent manager of an aging rock band that was launching a tour to promote their new album.  As the concert cancellations started to rack up due to lack of audience interest, Faith had to create new ways to spin the bad news to the band.  His excuse for the Boston cancellation was that the cancellation wasn't a big deal because Boston wasn't a big college town. :-)

"Oh, no, no, no.  It's that their appeal is becoming more selective."

Barack Obama couldn't have spun it any better!

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." -Winston Churchill

As much as I love Ann Coulter...

there is no way I could watch her on the same stage as Bill Maher.  In other words, even Ann Coulter could not make me watch Maher.  Jim Webster

Coulter will wipe the floor with Maher

Of course, the drive-by media will not report it; but that's OK we'll know the truth!

Maher is a wanna be political analyst hack.  He has little to no credibility with ANYONE.  I thought he got kicked off the air after his nasty comments after September 11.  How'd he get another show?

Bill Maher got kicked off the air for an inflamatory remark

Bill Maher got kicked off the air for an inflamatory remark, but the remark was accurate. You can call someone prepared to blow themselves up for their cause, stupid, brainwashed, evil, or psychotic, but coward doesn't fit. Cowards flame people anonymously on the internet. They don't strap explosives to themselves for a cause ( however crazy). The time wasn't right to give anything that could be taken as a defense for the hijackers. He didn't have the luxury of nuancing the actual meaning of his remark for two months, as Rush has.

The difference between Maher's inflammatory statement, and Rush's inflammatory statement ( both perfectly fair statements when explained) is the timing. Had Rush made his remark about Obama failing on the heels of catastrophe, he probably would've received the same type of backlash. I agree with Maher's firing, not because of what he said , but because of wording something in an inflammatory way while the nation was rocked on its heels. He could have got his same point across without the firestorm simply by wording it differently and explaining it. If Rush was to make such a statement as he made (about hoping Obama fails) after a terrorist attack on Washington, I'd support his firing too.

I think it will be a good debate. Maher is anything but dumb, as is Ann.

Beware of a crazy woman throwing a hash pipe.

You can call someone

You can call someone prepared to blow themselves up for their cause, stupid, brainwashed, evil, or psychotic, but coward doesn't fit.

You obviously are unfamiliar with Islamo Fascists.  THere is no bravery involved because they are 100% certain that they will be instantly transported to their equivalent of heaven and have every earthly desire accomodated.

THAT is not bravery.  Rather it is taking the easy way out while proverbially cutting in line...

Maher assumes that the Islamo fascists are like him, simply living from playboy mansion party to playboy mansion party and have no firm beliefs in the hereafter - so a sacrifice is involved.  This is not the case.

I didn't call it bravery

I listed 4 things and bravery wasn't one of them. I think you're trying to trick me into defending suicide terrorists, and I'm not going to do that, but I think you have simplistic view of suicide terrorists, such a simplistic view, you could never combat it. Calling cancer a rash won't make you cure it easier. When you simplify the rationale of suicide terrorists, its like ignoring the severity of cancer with some absurd hope that it will be easier to cure. Assuming someone can overcome the extraordinary survival mechanism (the instinct that makes even the most devout Christians cling to life when heaven is on the threshold),  to get laid by a room of virgins, well its a little naive. Its understating the problem.

I don't know what Maher assumes about terrorists, but it seems you have a telepathic channel to him or a quote of something he said. I don't see a quote:)

Beware of a crazy woman throwing a hash pipe.

I WOULD assert their

I WOULD assert their position is cowardly since they take the easy way out.

Regading your opinion of my views regarding terrorists.  I feel emminenly qualified to judge them since Ihave worked agains them since 2001.

Assuming someone can overcome the extraordinary survival mechanism (the instinct that makes even the most devout Christians cling to life when heaven is on the threshold),  to get laid by a room of virgins, well its a little naive. Its understating the problem.

Please study this issue further.  The knowledge of their eventual ascendancy to their version of heaven is usually not enough to have them shuffle off the mortal coil.  But add to that hero worship of the Pali's, coupled with certain riches for their dependants and you get an overwhelming push.

They can be conditioned for the first case, but need futher help.

I still call it cowardly.

Well from my experience

The knowledge of their eventual ascendancy to their version of heaven
is usually not enough to have them shuffle off the mortal coil.  But
add to that hero worship of the Pali's, coupled with certain riches for
their dependants and you get an overwhelming push.

From my experience, cowards don't need a push from anyone to take the easy way out. Usually the first part of a coward you see first is their arse, quickly moving away. But that just means "coward" is one of those terms individually defined (like "fail"). That means Mahers statement was fair, but insensitively timed and inflammatory.

Beware of a crazy woman throwing a hash pipe.

Mahers statement was

Mahers statement was incorrect.

That might be

But you haven't proved it. I'm not going to spitball - if thats it, take care.

Beware of a crazy woman throwing a hash pipe.

How can one prove an

How can one prove an opinion?

Okay, here goes....

If one commits suicide to avoid pain, society generally labels the act cowardly.

Likewise, commiting suicide to kil other with the assuarance that ones family is well reimbursed, and the suicide bomber will be treated as a hero while ascending to heaven. That is likewise cowardly....

Good enough.

Should be entertaining

Coulter and Maher are actually friends, unless I'm misinformed, so they may get along just fine. However, Coulter is by far Maher's superior in intellect. The real danger of an irritating exchange arises from the very real possibility that Maher is not intelligent enough to know he's being embarrassed. I've seen this happen to Maher before.
