El Rushbo did a great job, as did many of the others at CPAC. I watched the entire 3 days and was impressed with most of the programing. Lots of good things out there for consevatives, Townhall.com has everything on their website.

I truly hope that people who don't ordinarily listen to him, or who believe what the MsM say about him, watched his speech.

It's kind of a live and learn thing....or as Rush would say, a "teaching" opportunity.

Ha, my 86 year old mom is on the phone to her brother.....extolling the virtues of Rush's presentation.  We need more of the "Greatest Generation".....we'd have a whole helluva lot less of Obama.

I commented to Mrs. nofate that I was really glad to see him getting out to an audience as large as Fox's that normally doesn't listen to Rush.  He was preaching to the choir at CPAC, but with Fox and CSPAN carrying it, there is no way that those who want the truth didn't see it or can't find it.  The Obama Chicago gang can't take that away.

I am curious, since it seems to be a fait accompli that there will be a covert, sideways fairness doctrine imposed, i.e. the durbin amendment, has there been discussion of where we will be able to listen to Rush, Sean, Laura, Mark, and the others?  Surely there is a medium that is not covered so extensively by the feds as yet???  Just wondering.  If it's been on here, I missed it. 

P.S.  Completely off topic:  for you country music fans out there, I saw this video for the first time last night of Joey and Rory and was blown away.  I went to YouTube to find more songs, and there were none, only stuff from the country version of Idol.  Had to watch them all.  They are the real deal.  I had never heard of them before, I don't frequent CMT.  Worth watchin, IMHO.

Rush called Joe Biden a biggot on national television.  It will be interesting how this one small part of his speech gets covered.  My guess is that the MSM will ignore because it's incontrovertiably true.  To draw attention to it would be to show how biggoted Biden really is.

Kingfish

I've been using the name Kingfish ever since I've been on forums on the internet since the mid 90s.  I picked this name because it was Huey Long's nickname, the same Huey Long, Governor and Senator from Louisiana.  Huey Long was the epitome of a populist in very tough economic times.

I absolutely hate populists and populism.  It's the easiest form of politics and the easiests form of journalism.  The politician that BHO most resembles, in my viewpoint, is Huey Long, (which of course is a coincidence as far as my nickname is concerned, because I have been using it for so long).

Most Americans only know a handful of historical politicians so if you say BHO resembles Huey Long, they of course have no clue what you're talking about.  So Obama can only resemble Lincoln or Washington or Jesus, but I digress.

I have heard a very few comentators in some more esoteric media venues mention that they too think that BHO is the new Huey Long.

Not Sunday at noon

The timing of this is surely tied to having sound bytes available for the Sunday morning talk shows. They want the clips to be played on Meet the Press, Fox News Sunday, etc.

CNN's one-sided response to Rush

This is what liberal, one-sided extremely biased CNN reported today regarding Rush's speech. Randi Kaye asked CNN's Senior political analysist Bill Schneider -- "part of the best political team on television",  what do you make of Limbaugh's "tone" during the keynote address? Here's what cool-aid drinker Schneider said:

"Well, it was an angry tone. He [Rush] was the hero of 1994, and that was the year of the angry white men, and they came to power and they honored him -- he was the prophet who led them to victory. They're not all white, and they're not all men, but they are angry, conservative voters. They didn't do so well last year, but they are still angry. "

"The tone of this speech was mocking, bullying, full of contempt, and I thought it was a very harsh speech, one that while it rallied a lot of conservatives, angered a lot of democrats and people who weren't particularily partisan, just by the tone of it".

Then Schneider was asked "What do you make of the fact that Limbaugh defended his comments about wanting Obama to fail"?

"Well, he did say he hopes Obama fails, and in my view that crosses the line. It's one thing to say I disagree with the president, and his policies are wrong, but to say I hope he fails -- that really crosses the line. Rush said he said democrats did the same thing about the Iraq war, but democrats never said they hoped the US would lose. Some of them said we're not winning, or we can't win, but to say I hope the president fails -- and in fact, Rush became very sinister by saying there are forces that are undermining the U.S. from within -- and that's a very sinister comment, so I thought in many ways the speech did cross the line".

So there you go. CNN is pushing the idea that conservatives are bullys; they're angry; they are sinister; they are contemptous and harsh; and whenever they offer a critique, they always cross the line. And CNN wonders why they have lost massive parts of their once-unbeatable audience? Maybe they should actually listen to the shiit they are spewing?

At least CNN and all its sister operations in the film, television, and publishing industry, among them Time magazine, HBO, and Warner Bros. Entertainment, are consistent. My guess is that they'll play the clip of "(paraphrasing) When I look at this audience, I don't see a female or an Hispanic, etc." stating that this is proof conservatives are just old, white guys - even Rush says so.

I stood up and cheered, I had tears coming down my cheeks, I laughed...you are what we need to lead, hopefully other conservatives that are thinking about running anywhere would do well to listen to your every word you spoke this afternoon....

Maybe, just maybe, someone will come out of the woodwork and the big-wigs behind the scenes that stuff moderates (Rhinos) in our faces to be PC and so-called inclusive candidates will go by the waist-side and we will get a candidate with fire and passion like you have to lead us...if not Rush, you know it is your patriotic duty to do the right thing and run!

I watch most of Rush last night and really enjoyed it!   My husband thinks he is/was a bit over the top and he doesn't like all the attention that brings (which in my opinion is a very humble quality of a conservative), however, I have explained to the husband that “quality” is what left is using against “us” (also our Military) and we need Rush, Beck, Ann and the rest  calling out all folks!    In my opinion; we need to stand up taller, show our best qualities to folks who don't know our true values and speak up a bit louder or I fear we will be getting run over faster by the freaks with larger mouths with their full intention to make the “conservatives” pay for their way of life with no compromises!

Amen.  As Rush's loyal audience well knows, we are waiting for our elected representatives to represent us and stop letting the progressives call the terms of the debate, stop accepting their premises!  We have no reason to be on defense.  I saw a supposedly sympathetic female talking head on Fox just after Rush say that what he said was "red meat for conservatives".  WRONG!!!!  People don't understand Rush.  That was red meat for the progressives to go out and chew on.  It is time that he had a bigger audience that is able to actually hear whole sentences instead of chopped up, taken out of context phrases spoonfed by Media Matters and the sycophantic MSM.  As Rush often says, he loves "tweaking" liberals.  And that whole speech was one giant tweak.

Where to begin....

This is a little bit backwards.  While I'm not a political philosopher, I don't think I'd be way off base to suggest that where the nature of man is concerned, conservative philosophy suggests that as power consolidates, it has a tendency to be corruptible.  This is why our country was set up as a republic, and not an oligarchy or democracy.  That way the rule of law can sustainably overrule attempts from large factions or interests to coerce individuals or otherwise remove liberties.

Of course, in Sterling's world (and in what he posits as "true" conservative philosophy), all men are evil according to Burke.  Apparently Burke thinks otherwise and he told me to tell y'all so.

Oh dear heavens, I am so glad you went out a goggled The Right Honorable Mr. Burke, it truly warms my heart.  Sometime I find myself feeling a little like him, hated in his time but a visionary beyond my age.  With this being said my dear friend- if you read his works you will come away with the philosophy that men are essentially evil.  If men were good, then there would be no need for any government at all.  Government is a coercive force that takes away the rights of men to do as they please; since men are not honorable some sort of government must be set up to punish those who use violence and force to take from those who are weak.  Mr. Limbaugh on the other hand seems to think that men are full of goodness and righteousness- if that was the case, then why even have a government?  Let us be free to live in the natural world.  As you can see Mr. Limbaugh is nothing more than a neo-con with a feel good message.

The article says Kim got 11 holes-in-one in his first round of golf.

I've only watched half the speech so far, but was disappointed there was no call for a return to fiscal conservatism. At one point, Rush states

"Spending a nation into generational debt is not an act of compassion."

Now I don't expect Rush to bash President Bush for the meteoric rise of the deficit under his watch, but if he's going to bring up generational debt, he should bring up a return to fiscal responsibility. Is been on hiatus.

Maybe he gets to it later in the speech.

You weren't listening carefully enough.  Limbaugh repeatedly criticized the expansion of Government and spoke in favor of Limited Government.  Limited government implies limited spending and limited taxes.

Was government limited under Bush 43?    No!  All the "Great Society" programs initiated by Johnson were still in force.  Bush did two things of his own to add to the inherited mess:  No Child Left Behind and the Medicare Seniors Drug Program.

What is the difference between Rush Limbaugh and President

Barack Obama when they speak? Both are excellent orators and have the ability to give good speeches. The difference is that Rush Limbaugh speaks honestly and clearly, while Barack Obama often handles the truth recklessly and obfuscates. Isn't it revealing that liberals, including the liberal mainstream media, believe that Barack Obama speaks more honestly and clearly than Rush Limbaugh?

I enjoyed listening to Rush talk at CPAC. For those of us who listen to Rush regularly, most of what he said at CPAC he has said often on his radio program. Yet, I never tire of listening to Rush. I enjoy listening to someone who believes in, reaffirms, and at times clarifies the same conservative values and principles that I believe.

With Rush's speech televised by FoxNews, CSPAN, and even the liberal CNN, you have got to believe that many liberals were fascinated enough to listen to most or all of it. Although they had heard about this "terrible person", it was the first time that many of these liberals had heard him speak.

Perhaps Rush was able to change some minds, or at least get some of these liberals to begin questioning what Obama's socialist policies will do to this country. At the very least, if they listened to the part where Rush clarifies his "I hope he fails", they will hopefully understand the intent of the statement rather than how the leftist media portrayed it.

You hit the nail on the head. Obama says what he feels the people want to hear, which is everchanging, Rush just spouts facts and his opinion about those facts, and facts don't change. That makes a big difference.

I was all prepared to watch Rush’s speech on Fox assuming no one else would carry it. While moving through the channels I passed CNN and was surprised to see it there too. I ended up staying on CNN just to see how long they would televise him and would you believe, all the way to the end. I did not expect that. However, it still does not change my attitude toward CNN. And I just loved him continuously promoting throughout the speech, “My first ever address to the nation”. You know it had to send the liberals into orbit.

Rush says this "The racism in our culture was exclusively and fully on display in the Democrat primary last year. It was not us asking if Barak Obama was authentic. What we were asking, is he wrong. We concluded, yes. But we didn't ask if he was authentically black. When didn't say like some Southern Christian Leadership conference leader said, Obama is not authentic, he doesn't have slave blood."

Well excuse me, but thats wrong. Its false. We were authenticating him. There was even a court case claiming he wasn't an American.

At this very CPAC, Cliff Kincaid introduced a guest with these words ( comparing the 80's to now) " Back in the 1980's we knew our President was born in the United States."

Some on the right ( not McCain because McCain sensed it and tried to stop it)  tried to portray Obama as someone not authentically American. His citizenship was directly and indirectly attacked. If Rush wants to deny that, only his most rabid fans are going to believe it. Its a half truth.

How is a court case questioning Obama's citizenship racist??? Racism is racial prejudice or discrimination. I don't see how that applies here.

Also note that the racist comments made during the campaign were made by prominent Democrats, some who were 'thrown under the bus'.

Well nwahs, that little play on words by you didn't escape anybody.  You very well know, the authenticating he and the SCLC were talking about, was whether Obami was/is black enough, not citizen enough.

I have stated earlier, Obami could have been born in Vladivistok General, in downtown Vladivistok, and the idiocracy still would have voted him in.

Also, I didn't comment on what Mr. Kincaid said. I don't know or care who he is.  But if you say McCain tried to stop him from saying anything, I'd probably say Kincaid was correct.

I think it was to claim some moral high ground. The right doesn't authenticate Obama because of the Southern Leadership Council's reason, the right authenticates Obama for good reasons. Well who could possibly argue with that?  That reduces to "The SLC is bad, we are good."

This post is one big half truth.  The context of Rush's statements was racism, not citizenship.  The word "authentic" was used by Democratic black leadership to analyze whether Barack Obama struggled in America like other blacks.  It had nothing to do with citizenship. 

The quotes you pulled were the right in the middle of Rush's talk about how racism was started and perpetuated on the left.  How exactly did you surmise the discussion was about Obama's citizenship?

It had to do with authentication

The remark had to with conservatives "loving people" and not authenticating as the mean left does. Of course the right doesn't use the same standards to authenticate people as the left does. But the right and Rush authenticate people all the time. Newt Gingrich is fine until he addresses global warming. Not authentic- not a true conservative. Colin Powell a great man until he endorses Obama - not authentic - he's a beltway conservative (and slightly racist/racial supporting Obama cause he's black). George Will - not authentic - he's blue blood conservative. Apparently you have to hold Rush infallible to be a true conservative.

That pretty much sets Rush up as God. I heard a joke about that...

Contradiction:  Rush rejected that premise, added that the racists were actually the Liberals.  Case and Point: The liberals were the ones that made a big deal about whether Obama was BLACK enough, or had enough SLAVE blood, and concluded that he did not pass the test, but his wife did.

Conservatives don't want dissent?  No, conservatives want honest discussions and conservatives reject your strawman argument of equalizing our measure of degree of conservatism of various people's opinion with your Liberal racism.

Rush Limbaugh gets two thumbs up.  He did an excellent job to inspire and motivate conservatives to go into action.  It is the kind of speech I would like to hear from a presidential candidate.

He may no have a college education but he borrowed from others show's he has the brains. I am sure there is a University that should give him an honorable degree in political science.

i am not sure if this was ever posted on newsbusters, but i remember this phenomenon during the presidential runs of Obama and McCain.  the crowds would ALWAYS chant "Obama! Obama!" or that "Yes We Can!" bs during Obama rallies and speeches.  even during his inaugural address; however during McCain and especially Palin rallies, the crowd would ALWAYS shout "USA! USA!" and they did the exact same thing during Rush's first address to the nation.

to me, this is a striking difference between liberals and conservatives.  what are your guys' thoughts?
