A Japanese energy commission released a report last month challenging the supposed international consensus that man is responsible for warming the planet while claiming that climate modeling -- the questionably accurate process of predicting the future so key to Nobel Laureate Al Gore's myth -- is immature and akin to ancient astrology.
The study also called the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's conclusion that global temperatures are likely to continue to rise "an unprovable hypothesis," while castigating "the paucity of the US ground temperature data set used to support the hypothesis."
The Japan Society of Energy and Resources was founded in 1980 to "promote the science and technology concerning energy and resources and thus to facilitate cooperation among industry academia and governmental sectors for coping with the problems in this field."
On Wednesday, the UK Register published a translation of the Society's January report which for some reason America's global warming-obsessed press chose to ignore:
Three of the five researchers disagree with the UN's IPCC view that recent warming is primarily the consequence of man-made industrial emissions of greenhouse gases. [...]
One of the five contributors compares computer climate modelling to ancient astrology. Others castigate the paucity of the US ground temperature data set used to support the hypothesis, and declare that the unambiguous warming trend from the mid-part of the 20th Century has ceased. [...]
Kanya Kusano is Program Director and Group Leader for the Earth Simulator at the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science & Technology (JAMSTEC). He focuses on the immaturity of simulation work cited in support of the theory of anthropogenic climate change. Using undiplomatic language, Kusano compares them to ancient astrology. After listing many faults, and the IPCC's own conclusion that natural causes of climate are poorly understood, Kusano concludes:
"[The IPCC's] conclusion that from now on atmospheric temperatures are likely to show a continuous, monotonous increase, should be perceived as an unprovable hypothesis," he writes.
Shunichi Akasofu, head of the International Arctic Research Center in Alaska, has expressed criticism of the theory before. Akasofu uses historical data to challenge the claim that very recent temperatures represent an anomaly:
"We should be cautious, IPCC's theory that atmospheric temperature has risen since 2000 in correspondence with CO2 is nothing but a hypothesis. "
Akasofu calls the post-2000 warming trend hypothetical. His harshest words are reserved for advocates who give conjecture the authority of fact.
"Before anyone noticed, this hypothesis has been substituted for truth... The opinion that great disaster will really happen must be broken."
Isn't it interesting that this group has touched on issues NewsBusters has been reporting for years, namely the absurdity of relying on unproven and untested climate models and the unreliability of the climate data being collated and disseminated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association as well as NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies?
Interested parties are encouraged to review the entire translation here as are political leaders and media members foolishly encouraging a carbon cap and trade scheme which will cost America billions of dollars in the midst of a recession to solve a problem that doesn't exist.
Exist question: how many international scientists and commissions will need to come forward and contest this nonsense before folks on the left and their media minions acknowledge anthropogenic global warming to be a man-made myth with no scientific foundation?

after I posted above, Boxer went on to set a new gold standard in arrogance and partisanship. I'm still steaming inside. She distorted and misconstrued (either deliberately or because she just doesn't have the basic raw intelligence required to interpret properly) Happer's comments on historical levels of CO2. Boxer constantly ridiculed Happer and the few times he was ever allowed to speak he seemed unprepared and generally not very articulate.
Coincidentally, at the same time as the Senate hearings were going on, Charlie Rangel (D-Tax Cheat) was chairing House hearings. I guess James Hansen has been watching too much CNN because he started his testimony by stating "Our planet is in peril". He then went on to champion his tax redistribution plan. John Christy put Hansen in his place when he showed up with graphs showing how much Hansen's 1988 predictions were wrong.

It pains me to admit that this carnival barker, montebank, sideshow freak, and absolute fraud comes from my state. His goal was never anything to do with the environment. As an Australian and for that matter one who grew up in Victoria, I know that bushfires happen every year. This year the tragedy was the worst ever in terms of human life. It was that bad because the Greens have been interfering with the ecology of the bush with their nonsense. Green councils have not been permitting the backburning and normal preparations for the bushfire season.
However, at the heart of this issue is the fact that there were record temperatures the previous week. Well... er um... were they record temperatures? Not really. First of all, Victoria has experienced that kind of heatwave in the past - 1939, 1959 are at least 2 occasions when these heatwave conditions existed. In other words the conditions are cyclical. They are not evidence of global warming.
These people do not want to hear the other side because they are deaf to anything that does not agree with them.
I remain proud to be a part of those who say that global warming and climate change are junk science.

My father is a geologist and I've sort of inherited some of his knowledge and curiosity concerning the earth, and its amazing to hear people spout off about how the earth is doomed because of man.
If people took 5 minutes to look at geological history, and put their political aims behind them they would know, or at the very least, have undeniable evidence, which if they're liberal, they might try to deny anway( heh.) that global warming is entirely cyclical. The earth goes through stages of cooling and warming, all by its lonesome. Its been doing it for a long time since and its going to continue doing it, without regard to what us insignificant humans are doing.
To say that we are contributing to global warming is to say that we are running out of trees because there are too many beavers. I guess we should go and kill the beavers, just in case...

We got to talking about his work in the 90's doing climate modeling on computers. The gist of this wonderful conversation was that, well, anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together should know that while man can affect a local area briefly, that global warming is on a scale well beyond anything manmade.
It seems that there's this big yellow ball up in the sky that has more to do with our climate changes. As he put it, from the studies that Purdue did on climate change, the only way we could actually truly affect our climate on a long term basis would be to detonate all of our nuclear warheads over volcanoes, so that they would all erupt at once. Other than that, you may as well determine the amount of change in salinity in the Pacific Ocean caused by one little boy urinating in it, as far as what mankind can actually do to the Earths climate.
