Beck Asks 'When Did Socialism Become a Happy Thing for Us?'

While most of the liberal media gush and fawn over President Barack Obama's plans to radically expand government while imposing constraints on the private sector and ridiculing companies for actually wanting to make a profit -- oh the humanity!!! -- Fox News's Glenn Beck Wednesday night asked a question that should be on the minds of all Americans:

When did socialism become a happy thing for us?

Sure, the economy isn't doing well right now, and folks are losing their jobs on a daily basis -- although certainly NOT at the rate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Cali.) believes -- but should our current woes lead us to sacrifice what our Founding Fathers and so many other brave Americans have worked and died for?

Beck doesn't think so, and marvelously illustrated on Wednesday what's really at stake at this moment in history -- something the Obama-loving media are clearly negligent in doing (video embedded below the fold with partial transcript):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

GLENN BECK, HOST: Hey, does anybody notice this crazy thing that we're on the road to socialism? I'm just saying. Wow. We got -- we got the SCHIPs thing going for us. That's great. There is the change that we were all hoping for, really, seriously.

Hey, I got an idea. If we're going down the road to socialism, I mean, why not really go for it, huh?

(MUSIC)

BECK: Comrades, good news from the western front, our glorious revolution is starting to take hold. Oh, the revolution of change. Our fearless leader has just signed in SCHIPs, and earlier today, he spoke out against capitalism. Listen up.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

OBAMA: As part of the reforms we're announcing today, top executives at firms receiving extraordinary help from U.S. taxpayers will have their compensation capped at $500,000, a fraction of the salaries that have been reported recently.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BECK: Now, those capitalists will say that the mother country shouldn't decide anyone's salary, only because, you know those capitalists will say they shouldn't have been bailed out in the first place. But what would you expect a capitalist to say?

Also in the news today, our workers are uniting. They're in the nation's capital to improve the life of you. The average worker with a union card check. That way, you can unionize everything. Now again, the capitalists will say, "Oh, gee, that's wrong, because secret ballots are part of the American way of life." Of course, they would say that! But I remind you, what do they know about their way of life?

Good heavens! What? Could we stop the music? What the heck is happening to us? I'm watching -- I'm listening to the president just a few minutes ago, and I'm like -- you got to be kidding me, right? I mean, this is just the first step. Oh, good. Well, let's not even debate it; let's just rush it in on an emergency.

Tonight -- I'm going to tie some of these things together -- how the government is moving to nationalize our banks. Does that sound like a good idea to anybody? We're setting salary caps for bailed-out company executives, and let me tell you something -- this one I'm actually for. But wait until you hear me explain it.

The dangers of the union card check tonight. The move towards universal healthcare, insuring the SCHIPs to insure kids -- kids, by the way, now defined by our government as people who are 30 years old. If that's my kid, get the hell out of my house.

(LAUGHTER)

BECK: You might say, "Oh, Glenn, that's crazy talk, they're still our children." No, they're not! You live in my house and you need my insurance, get the hell out of my house and get a job, deadbeat! But maybe that's just me.

I'm going to show you how all of these things -- Aaron (ph), I just love you. I wanted to show you how these things are happening today and they line up with some of the goings-on in history's worst socialist- fascist countries. When did socialism become a happy thing for us? These people may not be taking us on the same road that fascist dictators took the rest of the world on a long time ago, but they're using the same tactics and the same propaganda.

Our very country is at stake when people use emergencies to quickly shove down programs down our throats without any discussion. But why would I -- why would I expect otherwise? After all, isn't it global warming? They all say, "Oh, the discussion is over, you flat-earther, you holocaust denier."

Marvelously stated; why aren't we getting a similar sentiment from most media outlets?

Sadly, the only answer is that socialism IS a happy thing for them.

I Love Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck is one of the most common sense people on TV these days.  Last night he asked everyone who disagrees with the way our government and country is heading to send a picture of themselves for a project (with the understanding that your picture may be shown on Fox News) to:  wesurroundthem@gmail.com

Mine was returned because the mailbox is full but I'm going to keep trying.  I think it's to illustrate that there are more of us than them.

Democrats never met a tax dollar they didn't like.

Glen Beck

Has Obama by the b**** and he isn't letting go.

what about sports teams?!?!

They were some of the first "private" companies/organizations to receive funding from state and local governments to do things like build new stadiums.  Yet their employees, i.e. athletes, make millions more than the CEOs in Wall Street.  On top of that, I would bet that the athletes impact upon the economy is less than the CEO.  At least the CEO is trying to keep a business going to employ people.

Where does it stop?

Sorry for replying to my own post

But this attitude was shown last year when Couric interviewed A-Rod.  She pressed him on how much he makes and asked him to justify it.  I would have turned the question around, asking her how she justifies making millions of dollars while her ratings are tanking.  If she wants to be critical of others, she should have looked at herself first.

Unfortunatly for us, personal responsibility is obviously lacking in the democratic leadership right now.

One of the biggest

problems facing America today is no one take responsibility for their actions. It is too easy to sue someone and win for doing something you shouldn't have been doing in the first place.

Glenn is a breath of fresh air...

I'm still amazed he is on CNN. Especially given all the other absolutely worthless programming on that channel.

Those who believe in nothing will believe anything.

He's at Fox Now

He's moved to Fox starting January 19th.

Democrats never met a tax dollar they didn't like.

Thanks! I no longer subscribe to cable so I'm out of the loop.

Those who believe in nothing will believe anything.

Having traveled through....

....eastern Europe and the Soviet Union before the wall came down, I can assure the idealists out there that socialism/communism was a complete and utter disaster.

Supposedly free health care, housing and education for all does not come without a cost. Rather than inspiring people to create wealth, it dragged everyone (except the ruling class of course) down to the same miserable level. The economy was propped by artificial means and in the end of course it all collapsed.

The cities were uniformly run down (East German and the Soviet Union being the worst). The people were sullen, the air thick with sadness and hopelessness, the same dazed look on all the people's faces.

The Obamas, Daschles, Kennedys, Pelosis, and Kerrys of the world will never experience that of course since their wealth will be well preserved in their trust funds and the thought that any of them would voluntarily "sacrifice" their wealth for the good of the country is laughable.

But they know what is best for the rest of us, and for now a lot of people think they are right.

beck rules

i just resently started watching glenn beck. i never heard of him before, then i found out why, he was on cnn. i believe this guy is the next big thing. move over bill and sean, he comes beck!

Socialism

Philosophers since Socrates have been urging humanity to admit that we don't know everything.

Socialism is a political system that's built on the opposite. Socialism is the hubris that a small number of clever people (i.e., the government) can comprehensively understand all of the factors involved in complex environments, and that if we all set aside our own judgments and follow theirs, we'll all profit.

Capitalism is a system that acknowledges the effect of imperfect information. We can't possibly know the effects of the interaction of millions of fellow citizens, so let's not pretend that we do. Instead, each individual seeks his own best interest because it's the one thing that individuals do know.

The irony is that by keeping their "knowledge" horizon small, capitalists behave predictably. That predictability means stability. The essence of strategy is that you decide what you do based on what you think others are going to do. Since you can predict what your neighbors are going to do, you can respond accordingly. Socialism, however, expands the horizon beyond control. A socialist thinks that the government knows everything. But because a government is just a collection of individuals, none of them capable of knowing everything, the socialist presumption is false. Socialists, however, respond by trying all sorts of policies and programs based on the latest theory. The result is unpredictability, and no one can create a strategy. No one can predict what the other guy will do, so they stop.

It's hubris when experts who consider themselves capable of knowing everything ... that's why we conservatives are petrified of the gushing accolades for any political figure. Obama's worshippers believe he's so smart that he can fix everything, and Obama himself allows them to portray him that way.

Every Greek tragedy begins this way ...

I watched this early this

I watched this early this morning from a link on Drudge, I missed the show yesterday because of the Senate votes ect. so I was glad to see this here bright and early, I also saved the link to put somewhere here today if it wasn't around...

What Beck says is simply the TRUTH!

People had better wake up...and very soon, I feel we already on the downward slippery slope of no return in this country towards just as close as we can get now to complete socialism.

I was sick as heck to see that SChips Bill get passed and signed...

I was sick to hear Fearless Leader Reid say on the Senate floor last evening that they may be done with cramming this Socialist Bill done and passed in the Senate by this very evening...I know Snowe and Collins seem to have listened to whatever O said to them, as they voted mainly with the dems on different amendments where they hadn't the day before, it made the difference by one or two to get some of the dem amendments passed late yesterday afternoon...

O, Pelosi and Reid must be expecting this is a done deal by Friday at the latest and it will now be going to conference between the House and Senate to be destroyed with more pork they couldn't get through as the repubs have little power to stop any of this...I wonder if we are going to be able to see this all on C-Span or if this is going to be a closed deal....the reason I say the three I mentioned at the start of this paragraph is O is going to be giving a speech Monday night prime time...so they are so arrogantly sure this is a done deal.

Be afraid, very afraid.

Call all the Senators you need to, but please keep in mind to call the Senators who are up for reelection, on either side of the aisle.

I haven't followed Mr

I haven't followed Mr Beck's radio show... but lots of us here at Newsbusters have been saying for the past 18 months that candidate, nominee, President-elect and then President Obama is an out and out socialist, quasi Marxist.

Mark Levin, in particular, has had this guy nailed on The Mark Levin Show.  He was one of the few who used the S-word -- and used it correctly as a pejorative.

"I am NOT a tax crook!"
Thomas Milhous Daschle

Jack... Boy Howdy...you are

Jack... Boy Howdy...you are so right about Levin, I listen to him often, I've always loved him, he is one of the best IMO. He tells it like it is...no mushy middle BS.

I wanted to ask you if you follow any of James Delingpole's writings? I just recently became aware of him, he has that new book out called 'Welcome to ObamaLand'...he is a breath of fresh air..I adore this guy, he was also on the Washington Journal this morning, took questions from callers, he was GREAT!

I hope his book is a best-seller, Regenery is his publisher, besides writing for Human Events, he writes for a lot of the UK papers ect I guess.

Hope I can get this on here, this is a great video of Beck and Mark Steyn...it was from when he was still on CNN, well worth the watch if you like both men, as I do.

bt -- Levin is on fire at

bt -- Levin is on fire at the moment. I catch him everyday.

Delingpole's the Brit? He was on Hannity the other night with the buffoonish Beckle.

Get this for Beckle's thinking capacity responding to JD's reasonable observations on Obamas's failures.

"Boy no wonder we kicked your butts in 1776, and 1812 as well..."

Yeah, and my dad can beat up your dad.

Bob Beckle: The intellectual wing of the Democratic party. And isn't that sort of racist?

Do you think Beckle would say to a Japanese writer -- Boy no wonder we incinerated Nagasaki in 1945?

"I am NOT a tax crook!"
Thomas Milhous Daschle

Jack, we caught that show

Jack, we caught that show too with Hannity, Beckel, Delingpole...he didn't get much in at all, we were both furious, wanted to hear more from him after he first spoke, Hannity never makes people quit interrupting, including himself at times.

I catch Levin at four here...so I will then.

btw...yes he is a Brit, his name mentioned for a lot of the Brit papers ect that he writes for.

If you get the chance later, check out C-SPAN's Wa. Journal today, look for his name, click it, it's approx. a half hour...you will love this guy!

I like the

I like the cuttingly humorous Glenn Beck. I can't listen too long to the apoplectic pleading toned Glenn Beck when he talks like it's the day before Armageddon when all is lost. It's not that I disagree with him, it's just that his tone gets hard to listen to.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

Glenn IS the "voice in the wilderness" and I love him for it

I absolutely love Glenn Beck--he's speaks truth to power and he doesn't pretend to be something he's not.

His communism comments are exactly on point.  Let's not forget Obama's formative years, and those folks who influenced him, and who he's been running with all these years: socialists and, yes, communists.

I read both of Obama's books (well, both of the books he said he wrote . . .) before the election and was scared shitless when he won the election.  I suggest others read them too. God help us.  This man will destroy this country. I'm not kidding.

I've been calling my legislators and the White House (yes, Bush too . . .) since the first bail-out mess to tell them to JUST SAY NO--DON'T BAIL ANYONE OUT--and it has not helped. Let these banks and other businesses fail.  Let folks' homes go into foreclosure (then they can, yes, RENT and save for a house they can actually afford).

One more thing, when did renting become such an evil thing?  I rented for years while I was in college and law school and continued to rent in my early years as a lawyer.  I say, LET THEM RENT.

Second, with car sales down, I haven't seen any stories in the press about how there is a shortage of cars and that people somehow can't find their way to work any more, or that they are not finding any way to travel.  Seems like we have enough cars, folks. (Yes, I drive an old car, why not?) So why are we bailing out automakers?  Let the market handle it.

Americans need to get angry.  I know I am.  Very. And I love that Glenn Beck gives voice to my views.  Go Glenn!

I'm ready to march on Congress and the White House with pitchforks and torches.  Anyone else?

I'll Join You, Attorney Girl

I feel like I'm becoming a political activist.  It's going to take lots of people to march on D.C. to get our point across.  What's so bad about Obama is that he doesn't believe in listening to the people, he prefers talking and lecturing at people.

I have not seen a smidgeon of humility from Barack Obama and that's what is the scariest part of him to me.

Democrats never met a tax dollar they didn't like.

Glenn Beck makes TV worth watching again.

When I first saw Glenn Beck on CNN a few years ago I was channel surfing listen to 2 minutes of him and turned. At first I thought Beck was another Black helicopter chaser until I watched him one night since nothing else good was on television and I was like "Wow. Not only is he thinking the same thing I was but he got some major cojones to say it on Communist Network News and I've been hooked ever since!

I can't believe that giving

I can't believe that giving children healthcare, prohibiting CEO's from fleecing the public, and allowing workers to unionize for fair wages and safe working conditions is akin to socialism. So does that mean bankrupting the economy and starting two wars is the same as capitalism?
