In the '90s, many conservatives referred to CNN as "The Clinton News Network" due to its obvious biases towards the 42nd president.
Years later, just days after the inauguration of the 44th president, one of that network's on-air hosts officially labeled MSNBC "The Obama Network."
You gotta love it.
During Sunday's "Reliable Sources," when the subject of MSNBC came up, Kurtz said:
Since he mentioned MSNBC, let's play a clip from Inauguration Day, Chris Matthews getting a little excited over the festivities and talking about the role of his network, which as you know has been accused of being favorable at least in its opinion shows toward Obama.
Kurtz showed viewers the clip that my colleague Matthew Balan shared with readers Tuesday:
After some discussion, Kurtz hammered home the point:
Wasn't he really saying, "If you like Barack Obama, this is the network to watch?"
Guest Amanda Carpenter of TownHall.com nodded her head, smiled, and said, "Right."
Kurtz replied: "Okay, well then I just want to be clear about it, because MSNBC denies that it has moved to the left, and I think the evidence is pretty strong."
So do we, Howard. So do we.

Where were these people during the election campaign?
January 25, 2009 - 15:30 ET by PrairieSkyBravo, Howard...It's about time that some clarity of thought is being seen over at CNN...But this, coupled with Campbell Brown's recent critical observations of Obama, makes me wonder though, where were these people during the election? MSNBC was biased toward Obama all during the campaign...This is not a new development.
Why didn't Kurtz notice this obvious left-tilting Obama worship before now? Same thing applies to Ms. Brown. Obama now is the same guy he was during the election...His ignoring his own rules on ethics is another example of Obama saying he'll do one thing and then doing another. He pledged during the campaign that he would take federal mathching funds, and then when he realized that he would do far better if he didn't confine himself to that, he changed his mind, which put John McCain, who had said that he would also accept matching funds (and the limitations that went with them), and actually kept his word, in a very bad spot.
What is new here? I suppose that now that Obama is safely in office, some in the MSM now feel that they should actually make an appearance of trying to be objective about what they say about him.

A Witness to History
By Kiran Chetry
CNN -
Kiran Chetry can be seen every morning on CNN's American Morning starting at 6 a.m. ET.
CNN's Kiran Chetry witnesses the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Jan. 20, 2009 - Washington, DC -- One cannot overstate the enormity of what we witnessed this day covering the inauguration of our 44th president, Barack Obama.
For the American Morning crew, we started extra early. Lining up at 3:15 a.m. with many of the other members of the media to get our spot on the risers built above the west front of the U.S. Capitol. But it wasn't just the anchors, reporters, crew and producers bustling about in the bitter pre-dawn cold, the streets of DC were already lined with people bundled in coats, scarves, boots and earmuffs. ALL willing and ready to stand in the frigid cold just to get a chance to witness history. They knew many hours, long lines, security checkpoints, crowds and an 8 degree wind chill would come between them and the moment they were waiting for... a moment to see and hear Barack Obama take the oath of office as our nation's next leader. But they were fine with that. In fact, more than fine. They were thrilled...jubilant and alive. Strangers talking to strangers and friends texting others who weren't there to witness this event in person. Cameras flashing, American flags waving and the intermittent chants of "yes we can" and "USA". One woman said to me "it's not enough to see this on TV. I need to be here. To live it. And to tell my kids and grandkids someday I was there to see the first black president."
Just before 5 a.m., John and I took our seats high over the steps of the Capitol and the platform built for President Obama. And as the minutes went by during our live broadcast, the crowds got bigger and bigger. By 6 a.m., we looked over our shoulders to see much of the mall jam packed with people all the way from the Capitol back to the Washington Monument. It was literally a sea of people...
Each person had their own story to tell about why they came and why today meant so much to them. And during our broadcast we too were telling some of their stories...LIVE...in real time through the great pictures and vantage points and interviews. To be so close to all of it gave me pause. I thought of the pride we should all feel as Americans, at this peaceful transition of power, no matter your personal politics, this was the election of our nation's first black president. But more importantly, the promise that comes every 4 years-- that no matter what's happened before, a chance to strive for a better future always lies ahead.

LIBERALS-ALWAYS STUCK ON RACE
January 25, 2009 - 20:37 ET by KrisMuch of the emphasis of Ms. Chetry's blog focuses on Obama's race. Why? Can't we judge the man by the content of his character rather than his race? I mean, I thought we were now post racial? Then again, if you judge the man by the content of his character, the picture might not look so rosy, the view not quite so utopian, the promise not quite so enduring. The media has gone out of its way to make sure that we don't know the actual content of Obama's character, thus the huge emphasis on race. Plus, they insist on calling him black, which he is not. He is bi-racial, but then, that doesn't fit their script quite as nicely.
At the end of the day, clueless "anchors" like Chetry are a laughingstock. They go through their day with visions of "inclusiveness" dancing in their heads. Of course, we must remember that their brand of inclusiveness only goes so far. The humane treatment of terrorists, yes, the ones who slice people's heads off with swords, is one of their top priorities, along other prized ideals such as butchering unborn children, saving the planet and making sure that no one ever utters a single solitary objection to those who engage in the homosexual lifestyle. This is what liberals are about, and when you think about the flattering words of Ms. Chetry towards Obama, it pretty much tells you that she endorses everything that he does.
I hope liberals sleep well at night, and I hope they are proud of their "hope and change" agenda, or should I say, assault.

January 26, 2009 - 12:37 ET by Chris NormanKurtz is always a day late and only halfway there. He is loath to criticize the media for liberal bias and when he does, it's grudging and pretty much half-hearted. It shows just how bad MSNBC has become when he said this as clearly as he did.
