White House press secretary Dana Perino's last briefing was delicious beyond words...especially her tribute to Tony Snow. Do yourself a favor and click on the embedded video below:

How marvelous. Thanks for the memories Dana...and Tony.

Like I said way back from

Like I said from her first day on the job somewhere here on NB right off the bat...she's great when she is at work...Tony was still very much involved then, she was stepping in now and then during his treatments...I loved how she handled all of them right off..especially Helen.

I just watched her for an hour taking on phone callers and college kids live on the Wa. Journo about four days or so go...talk about a sharp quick wit, I could have hugged her...(I posted about this elsewhere the day it occurred somewhere here or there.)

I loved her words about Tony...got me misty-eyed...I sure miss him so much...from Fox on Sunday's onward...

What I most certainly do not agree with her with is the need for more reporters...not one bit...unless they have some sense of balance and doing what they are suppose to do, report without their personal bias/agenda.

Thank You Dana

Beauty, class and grit.

A good person performing a difficult job with economy and ease.

Daily she suffered fools from the peanut gallery, occasionally standing up to the moronic and overindulgent press corps(e), never losing her grace or tact.

Loyal.

I shall miss her.

More women should wear pink.

More women should wear pink.  What a lovely  lady Dana Perino is.  Too bad more reporters weren't so gracious.

Their lack of good manners just proved to me

that liberals have NO social graces WHATSOEVER!  The least they could have done was acknowledge her at the end of her term.  And their lack of acknowledging her tribute to Tony Snow was appalling...he was a #1 guy...and Dana followed him with such intellect, wit and grace!  I applaud and honor them both!

PS  Yes, more women should wear pink - Dana more than proved that!

The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of government!

Tony Snow

The pathetic part about her mention of Tony Snow was the White House press' lack of appreciate. She paused and expected an applause of appreciation, and, naturally, the press did not respond. Not even one clap from a group that did all it could to undermine the president and anyone associated with him....

the lack of respect for a fellow professional in the the press business shows the lack of class the press corps really has.

I disagree, umpete...

I disagree, umpete...

There was a warm response throughout to Dana's humorous remarks.  After her words of tribute to Tony Snow...a respectful silence.

You are aware, I presume, of the presence of conservative members of the White House press corps.  Why didn't they applaud if you think it was disrespectful to stay quiet?

Jer

Jer

I have to agree with umpete. I thought they were anemic in most of their responses. And, what does the fact that some were conservative and some were liberal, have to do with anything? They ALL could have been a little more enthusiastic, IMHO. She's a lady, that's her last time up there, why didn't they all stand at the end? The politics part for this admin. is over. There's no need to be partisan in any way.

But, sadly, the hate then -hate now -and hate some more part continues.

tbdi... I thought they

tbdi...

I thought they were anemic in most of their responses

Really?  I didn't get that impression at all.  Dana's presentation was amusing, clever, light-hearted, good-natured and well done.  But it was not side-splitting comedyI thought the reactions were very appropriate.

And, what does the fact that some were conservative and some were liberal, have to do with anything?

Because umpete stated "not even one clap from a group that did all it could to undermine the president and anyone associated with him...".   This may come as a shock, but not everyone in that room is a Bush-hating leftist.  Why was there applause for Dana if she too is viewed with universal contempt by the press corps.  I can assure you there is at least one Bush sympathizer and admirer of Tony Snow among the audience.  Why didn't that person clap for Tony if applause was required?

I'm sorry, but umpete's argument is simply illogical.

'Conservative members of the White House press corps'

He probably didn't want to be stabbed in the back with a ballpoint. :-O

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

Hey, girl!!! How ya doing? How's lil bit?  As for the reporter, you don't know there was a lone male there, it could have been a woman! Yeah, if you are the lone conservative, it probably doesn't do you too well to make too many waves. You might end up sleeping wit da fishes.

Hey Butler!

The little man was 3 months old on Monday and he weighs almost 18 lbs! I think he's trying to catch up with his sisters. PM me your e-mail sometime if you want some pics.

I hope Jer was right about a 'respectful silence'. If they were just being jerks then that would be really sick. If there are any conservatives in the WH press corps they must be on sedatives. :)

Uh oh Jer, was that 'vacuous'? Ooh, shiny.......*wanders off*

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

O 'vacuous' one... I

O 'vacuous' one...

I dunno...was I being 'cheap' and unable to deal with the 'truth'?

Back to reality...I assume you haven't read my comment posted last night to you re vacuous, cheap, truth, etc.

I have no idea what thread that was on. Couldn't find it again last night. This BlackBerry can be a pain.

You mean "this African American berry" don't you?

Oops!

Caught me. *blushing* Alright, I admit it. I'm a homophobe AND a racist! :-O

I think Jer meant this one.

And NO, THIS NOT COUNT AS ONE OF THE 5 LINKS YOU OWE ME! ;-)

He had my vote

Thank you! I can't wait to get something other than this little popgun to cruise around this site taking cheap, vacuous shots.....*laughing*

And don't worry, my word is my bond. ;-)

I was going to edit that last post but Cool was too quick on the draw for me.

I just realised what you were referring to by 'cheap'. What I meant was that I thought it was beneath your dignity to defend Clinton's contemptible behaviour.
Which indicated my high opinion of you.

The remark you responded to about fitz's post was referring to the length of his post. (no paragraph breaks) But then, on an actual computer screen I'm sure it was easy to read. Perhaps I was too oblique.

I'm not sure what you meant by 'inundating' the Coulter thread. If you go back and check how many perfectly polite posts I made before I got annoyed with JasonC I think the ratio is nothing to blush about.

Also, why would you be offended with me over my difference of opinion with another poster? The only time I ever jumped into a conversation of yours was to defend you.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

choselife [and shawn]...

choselife [and shawn]...

I'm still having technical problems with linking.  But the post I'm referring to is mine in response to your Meow Jer comment on the "MSNBC Follows Bush with Bush-Bashing Diatribe from Matthews" thread--down a bit from fitz's Peggy Noonan post.

Jer

I'm afraid to look, I'm still not over 'vacuous'. There was another zinger too, but it was so horrifying I seem to have blocked it out.....

There may be a conservative

There may be a conservative or two in the press corp. But if they want to keep their job, they had better stay in the closet.

Respectful silence or not, they should have stood when she started to leave. This is class, not pettiness.

CL3X, I will PM you later, I would love to see some baby pics! My grandson sang me twinkle, twinkle last night. I miss those buggers.

What conservatives in the White House Press Corps?

Dana and Tony class acts...

... and if I may say so Bushco  also,  like my son has  said "I would  vote  our president as  king, I love the guy". He is young and doesn't understand the  vitirol against this man.  I  am older and understand the haters  well.

"There are two types of people in this country; those who provide freedom and those who enjoy it." MM says...

mm - You are SOOO right on the money! I agree

ALL 3 are class acts!  Let's wait to see how 'the one' responds to the first question he'd rather not answer ;-)

The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of government!

Please go easy on your

Please go easy on your successor, lol? I think that's pretty much a given at this point.

Dana Perino made Tony proud

She stood tall and Pres. Bush was served well by her Grace Under Fire.  I agree with the ckc1227 , the honeymoon period for the BHO administration will cause a thrill up the leg of the new Press Secretary...

"Most men lead lives of quiet desperation"... until they get fed-up enough to finally say something about it!

Yeah, does anyone really

Yeah, does anyone really think the MSM will ever ask Robert Gibbs the type of question that was the order of the day during the past eight years?  No way.

What we can expect is a bunch of "When are you gonna put Bush in jail" questions which the left will claim as hard hitting.

Hell, Obama could shoot a reporter from the lecturn during a presser for asking an ugly question and the press would first remark how accurate a shot Obama is.....

His Majesty The Shahinshah

Hell, PEBO, His Majesty The Shahinshah, could walk in, pull out a fully loaded AK-47, shoot everybody at the presser, and the rest of the media would endlessly gush about how much he cares about global overpopulation.

(Say, BD, on an unrelated note: in the January 2009 edition of Air Force magazine, it says that 43% of military recruits come from the South.  I don't know about you but I was thankful I was seated when I read that!)

January 2009 edition of Air Force magazine, it says that 43% of military recruits come from the South.

Guess it surprises me only that it is about five percentage points higher than I expect.

THen again, I guess it all depands what they consider the south.  Do they add Texas or is it considered SOuthwest etc?

Further from the study (from what I can remember)

In the study, quoted from Heritage, TX is indeed considered part of the South.

I don't have the mag in front of me at the moment, but it also breaks regions down further.  For instance, TX is also grouped with LA, AR and OK as part of "West South Central".  The stats reveal that those four states contribute the highest proportion of military recruits out of those smaller regions.

Guess which one is smallest?  New England.  Go figure.

"THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING!!!  THE HOLOCAUST OF THOUGHT IS DAWNING!!!" - Nevermore, "Bittersweet Feast", from This Godless Endeavor (2005)

Yeah, three years ago I saw

Yeah, three years ago I saw a scatter distribution of dots reprenting accessions from the various regions.  Major Metropolitan areas in California (SF, LA etc) lagged way behing per capita compared to major metroplitan areas in texas.

And new england looked like a ghost land.....

I'm wondering if he will cut them off as his 'boss' did

throughout the campaign - 'hey, guys, I've answered seven questions already - bye!'  When I saw/heard that I almost died laughing!  And, guess what, they all shut up ;-)  Just like they have done at the Republican press conferences!  *NOT!*

The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of government!

A class act.  I'm not

A class act.

I'm not looking forward to Gibbs.  He was obnoxious during the campaign and I'm sure he will be in this position as well.

I miss Dana Perino already!

Truly the best part of this clip was the tribute to Tony Snow.  He was one person left behind last year I will truly miss.  Especially when for a moment there I was sure he had cancer beaten.

The worst part?  Well, since I am single...the part where she thanked her husband, Peter.  :-(  (Am I a really bad person for thinking that Dana Perino is hot?)

She will be so missed.  It is going to be PAINFUL to see Mr. Gibbs asked questions like these during the eternal Shahinshah honeymoon:

"Mr. Gibbs, the President is a man who is completely perfect in all of His attributes.  He is everything every American wishes he could be.  It is hard to work around someone who is completely perfect in all of His attributes like Him?"

"THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING!!!  A WAR ON FREEWILL IS COMING!!!" - Nevermore, "Bittersweet Feast", from This Godless Endeavor (2005)

Unsane

No, you're not bad to think Dana is hot. she is a cutie. She's the kind of girl-next-door cute and perky Katie "the husk" Couric wishes she was! Even in her heyday, she wasn't this naturally cute. And don't get me started on her big gummy smile, and her stupid, I'm trying to be girly, giggle! I also hate when she has tried to act cool and try to use the "hip lingo." O.k., I'm getting revved up and ready to slap the Katester, so I'll leave it. As for Gibbs, he is a nasty piece of work. Anyone remember when he accused Hannity of being antisemitic, because he had a guy on his show who had expressed those views, at one time?

Dana Perino

You really think Dana Perino will just disappear?

I think she's got a future in News.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

More on Dana

Well, she WILL disappear from the White House...

Cool, you got me thinking! Maybe next week we'll hear how Georgie from This Tweak got fired on ABC News in favor of Dana Perino!  And why not?  He was Clinton's spokesman after all! Right?

:-)

Why Try?

Why does anyone even try to get along with the White House Press Corp? These clowns are not worth the paper on which they write, nor the hand held devices to which they cling.

I still miss Tony Snow. Taped to my bulletin board is a small photograph (from USAToday) of Tony's ashes being carried out for burial from the Washington National Shrine. I just can't seem to let it go.

Dana, be happy, move along. Chin up!
