Film Critic: USA Is Nazi Germany, Iraqi Insurgents Are Defiant Jews

Photo of Noel Sheppard.

How would you like to wake up New Year's day to read an opinion piece in your paper's entertainment section equating the United States of America to Nazi Germany and depicting Iraqi insurgents as being akin to a little known group of Polish Jews who rescued over a thousand people from Hitler's concentration camps?

That's a great way to start the New Year, dontcha think?

Well, the good folks at the Kansas City Star seemed to miss the inappropriateness in such sentiments during the holidays when they published "Is WWII In Movies Really Iraq?" (h/t NB reader David Godinez):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

[F]or many around this globe of ours, the good old USA is viewed as the modern equivalent of Nazi Germany — a formidable war machine that invades countries, terrorizes the locals, ignores the outcry for fairness and justice and imposes its own ideas of the way things should be.

And though they would hate the comparison, fighters for the Iraq insurgency have a lot in common with the Jewish brothers of “Defiance.” Both groups resist what they view as an occupying army with bombs and ambushes.

Those unfamiliar with these Jewish brothers should read an NPR piece on the subject. But I digress:

Now before you go all DAR on me, I know this is a hugely oversimplified view. Our men in uniform aren’t Nazis — though the distinction may be lost on some poor wretch of an Afghan taxi driver who angered the local war lord, was ratted out to the Yanks as al-Qaida and is learning all about water boarding.

But the lines between good and evil, right and wrong have gotten seriously blurred. “We’re the good guys; they’re the bad guys” may be emotionally reassuring, but in practice it’s a whole lot more complicated. And strangely enough, movies about Nazis are hammering that idea home.

Hmmm. Lines between good and evil, right and wrong have gotten seriously blurred.

I thought the basis of our democracy and our very civilization was that there are well-defined lines between good and evil and right and wrong. Aren't the people blurring these lines -- apart from our enemies, of course -- the folks in the media who have somehow misplaced this simple concept?

Isn't that what leads them to support our enemies while always blaming America first?

Isn't that what leads them to support Hamas and Hezbollah over Israel?

Isn't that what leads them to regularly praise despots like Ahmadinejad, Castro, and Chavez whilst blaming President Bush for anything that goes wrong anywhere on the planet?

Isn't that what leads them to always take the side of criminals over law enforcement?

And now these same people are trying to rewrite history by blurring the line between whether or not the Nazis were good or evil.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to Obama's America

Every day I visit this site and every day I feel more and more miserable because of the incredible ignorance that is taking over this country and this world.

We will lose the war on terror because of idiots like this. This is the reason that Islamofascists will defeat us is because elites like this putz don't believe (and have never believed) that America is the last bastion of freedom on the planet. He is the kind of person that drives around in a Prius with "War is not the answer" bumper stickers and not realizing the reason he can do that sort of thing was because we had to WIN A DAMNED WAR!

Now, me and my fellow soldiers are Nazis and the cold, heartless, murderous bastards who have terrorized Iraq and Afghanistan are Jews? What the hell is going on!

Israel isn't going to finish off Hamas because they are deathly afraid that Obama's administration will not ever back them. Their fears are justified. Obama, like this numbnut, is anti-American, anti-Israel, pro-Hamas, anti-Armed Forces

And to top it off, newspapers like his wonder why their circulation is down and they are going to ask for bailout money. So he will be calling us Nazis using my tax dollars. Makes me want to throw up all over him.

Well, you voted for The Messiah and all that came with him so he's your albatross now. Live with him.

You support the troops by supporting the mission! If you don't support the mission, have the guts to say you don't support the troops.

Obama: Not my President. Ever.

I sincerely hope you'll

I sincerely hope you'll rethink this incredibly misguided viewpoint. If Obama isn't "your" President, then you're no different than the traitorous liberals who proclaimed the same thing about Bush. Elections have consequences. Our side DESERVED to lose. We put forth a candidate that contained little if any of the ideals upon which this party operated. A man despised by his own people, in large part! Don't be a CHILD or a traitor, you're better than that. You don't get to decide who the President is, only who you vote for. Don't the voices of your "fellow" Americans matter? For good or God forbid, bad, Obama is YOUR PRESIDENT. In a few day anyway. Don't let your depression make you like them, you're better than that.

following that logic

following that logic we would still be british subjects. I refuse to relinquish my rights to the MSM. They selected the Chosen One and McCain.

In their own words "opposition is patriotism". Even his wife is anti-American. The Chosen One was selected by "hook and by crook". His entire cabinet is made up of anti-Americans and terrirosts. The Chosen One will have my support when he becomes an American and not before.

Nah. I am leaning strongly toward Arch

We had the most far left leaning politician ever reach the Presidency. He advocated cutting and running from a war we started and were winning. Everything he has said IS antimilitary. Now he will be CINC.

Between the credit card security controls that were turned off on the internet to specifically gather huge sums of money with absolutely no tracking and Acorn fraudulently gathering untold numbers of votes, the fix was possibly in.

I am with Arch. Not a happy camper. Not a happy camper at all.

Sincerely,

a Veteran of a 1000 psychic wars.

Acts et al

Acts et al,

I'm probably with Acts on this one, but grudgingly. After all, it seems Obama's primary qualification for the position he's about to be sworn into is indeed his color, and as a result, he was brought to power by the most sycophantic media any of us has ever seen.

Beyond this, he used his race as a weapon against his opponents in a fashion that no white person could get away with in our nation today. Ditto his primary opponent's lack of a Y-chromosome. As a result, he divided this nation more than anything the media claims Bush has done.

But, he's our president, and those of us that have spent eight years criticizing liberals for not showing Bush respect have to not become that which we despise. If liberals were required to respect the office of the presidency the past eight years regardless of their differences of opinion with the White House resident, we need to do the same now or we're hypocrites.  ns

Noel

i've said much the same with this caveat: i seek not but fully expect to oppose many if not most of the policies and actions of the upcoming administration.

The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” -- Chief Justice John Roberts

Bruce

Bruce,

Respect doesn't mean support. I will fight him on every position he takes that I disagree with, but do so with the respect his office deserves. And, I expect my fellow conservative journalists to do the same thing.  ns

N quite true

my main concern is that the Replubicans don't roll over on SCOTUS appointments

The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” -- Chief Justice John Roberts

→ I agree Noel

He'll be my President.  And if ever there was a person in need of a Road to Damascus experience, It's That One.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

I think Acts blew all his goodwill in an insane rant below

Some people just can't be helped.

I have yet to see the n word used here. (nazi) or hitler or chimpy or mcchimpyhitler or any of the other variations thereof.

We are better than that. We just don't like him for what he as said, not what he is. That is the difference.

Sincerely,

a Veteran of a 1000 psychic wars.

Strategy

Yes, but there is another side to that same equation, Noel. All theories of strategy (especially game theory) agree that if you fail to retaliate against negative behavior, you invite more of it.

  • If the liberals didn't show Bush the proper respect, how do we penalize them for it?
  • If there are no repercussions for their inappropriate (and for some of them, treasonous) behavior, why shouldn't they exploit public opinion? Their risk/reward ratio is all reward.

Frankly, not to burst anyone's bubble, but the only public opinion that counts is the election. Once that happens, Obama gets to do whatever he wants for the next two years. Look at Bush. He is at historic lows in popularity, yet he refused to pull the troops (which I applaud), but he also agreed to the bailout (which I hate with a passion). Public support, or lack of public support, meant nothing. He conducted the war and shredded the structure of the economy (can you tell I hate the bailouts?). How people felt about him made absolutely no difference.

No, he isn't my President...neither was Bush

He is the President-elect. He will soon be the President.

yawn

I will listen to what he says and watch what he and his appointments do and comment accordingly.

That I consider those who voted for him to stretch between the uninformed to the stupid is meaningless.

AC

The infiltration of our (once great) country has been achieved by the Socialists for some time.  USA bad, World good.  Conservatives evil, Liberals good.  Republicans are the Dark Side.  Democrats are for the Common People.  The Military are killers.  Wacky left-wing protesters are the only thing saving your freedoms.

It's all upside-down, inside-out, and backasswards.  Yet, I still have some hope.  We have Internet town halls, like NewsBusters, where we can discuss openly about our internal and external enemies.  The totally misled masses will have their eyes opened soon enough.  Hussein will have to be the president without the aid of a net.  And the media will turn on him, too, as he finds out the truth about how we have, as a country, been surviving for the last 8 years.  From learning the horror of the truth he will vomit a little, or a lot, but he will have to face the responsibilities.  Then the public will see what Hussein is made of.

We will be vindicated.  See you in 2012, Sarah.

I thought Saddam's Baath

I thought Saddam's Baath party was mirrored /modeled /created to be just like the Nazi's??

It is spiritual

What else could explain how blind the Main Stream Media is when it comes to evil?  Of course what should we expect from people who think killing unborn children is true "compassion?"  We swho see the truth should give thanks to God daily for the the gift of a sound mind.

I get to make up for my earlier confusion in another post.

  Noel for President!

Good. That is done. Now for my first thought. As to the title of the Article - Is WWII in movies really Iraq? I am reminded of that old quote attributed to Freud -

"Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar you worthless fifth column treasonous whining....stand up and stop crying!"

Yes sir. Everything is black & white. Only liberals and certain MSM types (liberals hiding behind objectivity) see gray areas. And yes, hippies, but they get red when you slap them.

We thought 2008 would be the final over the top blowoff that would out them for what they are. Are they trying to set an even higher standard for bias again in 2009?

This is disgusting

Not only is it disgusting to compare our brave soldiers to Nazis, but it really makes my blood boil that anyone would have the audacity to compare anti-Jewish Arabs to the Jews in WWII. Has there been a Holocaust perpetrated by America or Israel, no. And, neither of us would ever committee a Holocaust because we have something called ethics and morals. Let these left wing idiots move to the restricted Arab world and see how much they like it. BTW I also hate it when gays are compared to Jim-crow blacks. It cheapens our history and the brave people who are being compared to.

The same could be asked about Arianna Huffington.  I guess that would be BOB, though.

  • LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

The writer has a point.  He

The writer has a point. He was not so mush as comparing our soldiers to Nazi's as he was comparing us to a dictatorial force imposing it's will on a population.  He even admits that the Nazi thing goes a little "far".

There can be no doubt that Hollywood is trying to use "substitution" to drive home it's point. So they show people in conditions where they are oppressed and they show how people fight this oppression. Sooner or later it will dawn on some viewer that there must be Iraqis who are courageously defying what they see as an imperial force. That's what happens when you act without moral clarity.

The problem with most conservatives, is that while many of us have bought the shifting rationales for invading Iraq, we somehow think that everyone else should as well.

If several members of a local police force, combined with FBI, CIA, and a couple of other alphabetized security ops, told you that your neighbor was planning to FIREBOMB you, what would you do? Say, the neighbor had just returned from a prison stint of ten years, for killing another neighbor the same way! What would you do? Kill him?  Say this neighbors' the type who beats his wife and children and kicks his dog. What then? The security people tell you that they can't do anything because this man hasn't actually "done" anything, all they have is "chatter" from informants, many of whom are of questionable character. What to do?

Say you then, in an ode to self preservation, invade the guys home killing him and two of his children in the process. Subsequently you find out that the guy had no "FIREBOMBS" but you stay in his house with the stated purpose of "liberating" the rest of the guys family!

In the process of "liberating" them, you kill his Aunt, his nephew, several cousins and a godchild or three. When the rest of your neighbors complain and demand that you stop your actions, you say that it's for the good of the entire neighborhood! Then you're "shocked" that the Neighborhood disagrees.

The above scenario is a "type" of the invasion of Iraq. I realize that countries have to take actions that are forbidden to individuals, it is simply an analogy. Something to get you to see how someone else, not necessarily someone "bad", views you.

It seems that a lot of conservatives bristle when the rest of the world or the other half of this country doesn't agree with the necessity of invading and killing people who posed NO ACTUAL THREAT to our existence. Que sorpresa!!

Most of these same "conservatives",  would pitch a fit if however, Russia invaded oh, say, GEORGIA! Hey, they have their reasons right? Who's to judge? Had Russia killed oh, say, fifty or SIXTY THOUSAND Georgians, some of these very same Iraq supporters would be demanding that someone be held for "War Crimes", wouldn't they? We really wouldn't care about Russia's "reasons" or how "reasonable", they seemed to Russia, would we? Did we? Hmmm.

There are none so blind as they who will not see.

This war is a disaster. It will go down in the annals of history as one of the worst blunders in the history of the world. What if Canada, whose silly atheistic liberals believe we are oppressing our population by PRAYING to Jesus, stages a coup, to "liberate" us from the Christian religion?

You don't get to decide what type of government someone else has. You don't get to invade and kill thousands on a mistake and have everyone act as if it wasn't, a MISTAKE.

And if you look very closely at the results on the ground. The difference between this administration and any other dictatorial regime is increasingly negligible. Especially if you're the mother of a dead teen aged Iraqi who thought he should fight against the people who invaded HIS country. "Moral equivalency" isn't always bad, especially if it keeps you from killing the innocent needlessly.

I await the avalanche of name calling.

I apologize for

I apologize for dissapointing you, but I, for one, do not call people "names". I do find it incredibly sad that some people, like you, can't see the difference in your own country and the countries that have inflicted true evil upon the world (I'm sorry, was that "name calling" or too judgemental??).

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

Acts jumped up and down

Chittering excitedly and flinging gobs of excrement at the astonished crowd. He quickly ran out of ammo and sat down to pick fleas and await a response.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

Acts

This is distorting facts and history. There is no accuracy in this post.

Acts, the problem with your

Acts, the problem with your example is this...

The Husseins had already firebombed Mr. and Mrs. Kurd's house.  They had also once broken in to Mr. and Mrs. Kuwait's house and held them hostage.  The United Nations already had issued 17 arrest warrants on the Husseins.  And when Johnny Marine decided to take action, the Husseins hid behind the "Aunt, his nephew, several cousins and a godchild" for protection.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

Acts flinched

As the irritated crowd returned fire with his own ammunition. The dried turds broke into dust on impact and it dawned on him that he was going to need a fresh supply. He dropped his banana and ran for the prunes.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

Okay, lets get

Okay, lets get started...

The problem with most conservatives, is that while many of us have bought the shifting rationales for invading Iraq,

The rationales for invasion of Iraq were provided as a whole in addresses to both the UN General Assembly and the US Senate/House in a combined address.  Something like sixteeen seperate rationale were prsented in both addresses that listed items such as the continued engagement of US aircraft overflying the controlled zones, to Saddams abuse of his own people.

Additionally, the provision of democracy to the population of Iraq as a continued effort to destroy islamic terrorism was also addressed.

The press, being incapable of multiple thought trains simply shortened the rationale to the simples and easist to understand - WMD.  And thus the myth that we invaded Iraq solely for WMD was born.  Later, as other rationale became evident - the press changes the simple version of events to match.

No shifting, look it up.

What to do?

How is this analogous?  Did Saddam authorize the use of SAM systems on US aircrew overflying the excluded zone as a violation of the Armistice or not?

Did Saddam use 122mm Chem rounds on the Kurds and Shia or not?

Say you then, in an ode to self preservation, invade the guys home killing him and two of his children in the process. Subsequently you find out that the guy had no "FIREBOMBS" but you stay in his house with the stated purpose of "liberating" the rest of the guys family!

How is this analagous?  See above.

A better analogy is that you accidentally break the arm of his child who tries to hurt one of your policeman by swinging a shovel but immediately render treatment. Meanwhile the bad guy at the house begins shooting his own relitives from a dark closet that your canot find and even tries to shoot your EMT who is treating the casualties he has inflicted.

Now THAT is an accurate analogy for the situation.

It seems that a lot of conservatives bristle when the rest of the world or the other half of this country doesn't agree with the necessity of invading and killing people who posed NO ACTUAL THREAT to our existence.

Invading those who are imminent threats are not the only justifiable actions allowed by the just war theory.  please see WWII US actions in North Africa, New Guinea, Iran, Sicily, Corsica, Bonin, Tinian as example.

Most of these same "conservatives",  would pitch a fit if however, Russia invaded oh, say, GEORGIA!

Please list justification for invasion of Georgia by the Sovs.

Had Russia killed oh, say, fifty or SIXTY THOUSAND Georgians, some of these very same Iraq supporters would be demanding that someone be held for "War Crimes", wouldn't they?

Depends on the nature of the killing.

This war is a disaster.

Please list a justification for this assessment.

It will go down in the annals of history as one of the worst blunders in the history of the world.

Please list a justification for this assessment.

What if Canada, whose silly atheistic liberals believe we are oppressing our population by PRAYING to Jesus, stages a coup, to "liberate" us from the Christian religion?

What are those supposed CHRISTIANS doing to Canada?  Are they lofting hundreds of rockets into Windsor from Detroit?

Are they digging tunnels to smuggle car bomb parts into Ontario from International Falls?

You don't get to decide what type of government someone else has.

Historically innaccurate statement. After all, we did not reinstall Nazi-ism or Japanese Militerism at the end of WWII.  Nor did we kill Syngman Rhee and install the DPRK in Seoul....

No, we decided what type of government would rule and supported it with action.

Please, study history before spouting platitudes.  You will look better...

You don't get to invade and kill thousands on a mistake and have everyone act as if it wasn't, a MISTAKE.

Please post rationale for a "Mistake" being made by US action in Iraq, Afghanistan, Philippines, Horn of Africa etc.

And if you look very closely at the results on the ground. The difference between this administration and any other dictatorial regime is increasingly negligible.

Really?  Have you ever discussed Democracy with an Iraqi in the post invasion era?

THey do not seem to feel how you seem to feel.

Especially if you're the mother of a dead teen aged Iraqi who thought he should fight against the people who invaded HIS country.

So, you likewise stress US induced casualties in the Wehrmacht and Japanese infantry in 1941-45, right?  After all, THEIR mothers likewise would dislike us for these actions.

Were you similary concerned about them, or is it only modern actions that tweak you?

"Moral equivalency" isn't always bad, especially if it keeps you from killing the innocent needlessly.

In the manner in which you use it, "Moral Equivalence" would disallow any and all uses of force in national defense.

We would not have been able to fight WWII, WWI, Hell, even the Civil War.  In fact, all warfare would be impossible in the moral climate of he who calls himself Acts.

Thanks BD.

Here we are nearly six years later and we still have people trying to reargue the justification for going into Iraq. Not only that but they bring it here it a site dedicated to COMBATING bias.

  SHEESH!

I have reached a point where I don't even try anymore. They are too far gone. Here is my response most of the time nowadays.

We did it without you. So shut up and quit whining. Get ready for a lifetime of disappointment because - guess what, WE ARE GOING TO DO IT AGAIN SOMEWHERE ELSE.

No name calling here, but

No name calling here, but did you know they make medication for this?

Israel & Oil

Repent, I say and be baptized. The Book is very clear, stand up for Israel and He will stand up for us. Oil is a national security issue and would that our current POTUS had made that clear.

Say what you want, it is the MISSION. Congress ok'd it and Bush went with it. Sadaam was a wmd and the 500 tons of yellowcake shipped clandestinely to Canada were proof enough, yet Bush chose not to make much of it.

If Congress has the courage to reverse their field on the matter of Iraq, the by all means bring them home sooner than later. Did you know 2:38 that our troops protected 1000's of Haajers on their way to Mecca? Where is the credit for that! As I told my Son, we can discuss all the politics we want and his love of moveon.org, but when it comes to the troops, do not tread on them. They are there voluntarily and will be there until their CIC says differently. They know their duty and I shake hands with everyone I get a chance.

The Major is a personal family friend on his 4th tour in Iraq. My good friend, Tim was in Fallujah for 3, came home and did not fasten his seat belt, He has a room in His mansion and I will always cry when I think of his commitment. His Brother is guarding us as well.

Please don't think that I

Please don't think that I don't honor the service of this great man because I DO.  The question of whether a war is just or unjust exists INDEPENDENTLY of the man or woman called to fight it. The man or woman who elects to defend the honor and dignity of his country is a rare breed indeed.  Many in a fight that is presumed just by all, shrink back.  So I honor them. One of my earliest memories is of a man who was like a much older brother to me, giving me my first set of bongos as a child. He had just returned from Vietnam. Sadly, he was so messed up by his experiences there (heroin addiction) and the treatment he received at the hands of his fellow Americans (Ms Fonda, Mr Kerry, et al) that he stuck a needle in his arm and didn't pull it out till he was dead. Three weeks after coming "home".

My point had nothing whatsoever to do with the fighting man or woman. My point had to do with those who carelessly or needlessly spend the treasure of their lives.

NO it does not.

The entire purpose of the military is to fight and kill. When there is no actual war, they train for exactly that purpose.

The question of whether a war is just or unjust exists INDEPENDENTLY of the man or woman called to fight it.

Sorry, you can't separate the two. The troops fight that war that you think is so wrong. They fight it to win. Without them, you would have nothing to whine about.

Sincerely,

a Veteran of a 1000 psychic wars.

Other than the U.S.

Other than the U.S. fighting to FREE nations while the Nazis fought to ENSLAVE nations, and  the "insurgents" targeting innocent women and children and chopping heads off while the Jews were the innocent men, women, and children being targeted and getting their heads lopped off, he's pretty much on target.

I mean, besides having everything FREAKING BACKWARDS, the man is spot on.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

I have no doubt that

I have no doubt that Hollyweird tries to implant ideological messages in their movies, but the subliminal message I received during my viewing of Valkyrie was this... Bush was Hitler, and there needed to be an uprising of "patriotic" democrats to remove him (impeach, assassinate, etc) from power BEFORE his term ended, so that America would not be remembered as having allowed this evil dictator to run his course while standing by and doing nothing.

Did anyone see the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still?   Other than the obvious "Greening" of the message and the obligatory portrayal of our military as "shoot first and ask questions later", thick-headed, cowboys,  they depicted the President and Vice President as cowards in hiding, leaving madam secretary to handle the crisis.  And even while hiding, the President went against all common sense and demanded a military strike against the alien's space ship while everyone else was begging for restraint.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

No need to see

the vomitous claptrap offered by Hollywood and Crazy Tom Cruise. I've learned the history of the Stauffenberg plot from reading histories of the Nazi period. I don't need H-wood co-opting this story of brave and desperate men to further their Bushitler agenda.

It's soooooooo 2005.

world's policeman

When you are the most powerful country in the world other countries will despise you while other countries cheer you. That doesn’t bother me because I would expect that due to culture conflicts.

When our own media drops to the level of comparing the USA with Nazi Germany that is a disturbing sign. Not that our nation has dropped to that level, it hasn’t. The fact our media is that ignorant and will make such a farce for ratings alone while reader believe it is disturbing.

The USA is the world’s policeman. I do not expect that to change anytime soon…unless we go bankrupt. Which could be soon. But comparing a “policeman” to SS storm troopers is a bit of a stretch.

Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Jackie3: So why do you

Jackie3:

So why do you openly side with the terrorist thug regime of the Hamas against a great western civilization such as Isreal?

Hamas lofts missiles into civilian areas SPECIFICALLY to cause civilian casualties in areas that Isreal does not allow military units or equipment.  Meanwhile, Isreal is forced to attack Hamas missile emplacements situated for the direct threat of causing civilian casualties in their own areas?

Isreal follows the rules of war and is hammered for it.

Hamas violates the rules of war and the blame is placed on Isreal.

Why?

Warped

That is the only way to describe such thinking, which is, unfortunately pervasive amongst many of the supposed intelligensia.

It seems often that they live in Bizzaro World rather than the reall world. It also seems as though they thoroughly do not understand the dangers in the world, and they don't seemed bothered by that fact. Their guilt, the guilt of living in a successful society, consumes them. It's all America's fault, and not that of the nefarious forces in the world.

Truly the definition of "Useful Idiots".

It would appear according

It would appear according to this trenchant film analysis that Saddam Hussein and his sons correlate as closely as anything to the leaders of the resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.  Yeah, that sounds about right.

I would say “Shame on the editors of the Kansas City Star” if they were capable of shame.  I can only hope ever increase numbers of their subscribers and advertisers abandon them to avoid further shame.

I am also looking forward with interest to how much this kind of highly toxic cr*p disappears after Jan 20.

Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

Hamas didn't attack Israel.....

The next rants you hear from the crazy democrats and the Lame Stream Media will be that Hamas didn't attack their good frinds the Jews. They just had an excess of rockets and decided to share them "air mail' with their friends the Jews.

Good evening Scrapiron

It is Christmas and Hanukkah. Gift giving should be reciprocated in kind. Israel should be as generous as humanly possible.

Pushing The Envelope

The MSM is emboldened now that we have a leftist president-elect and a national congress dominated by leftist operators, i.e. the Democratic Party. They believe the US electorate embraces the kind of thinking that supports Hamas et al because they so strongly rejected Republicans in the '06 and '08 elections.

They are badly mistaken, as the US electorate, even a sizable percentage of people who normally vote for Democrats, is relatively well informed and allowed to think the truth. Believers of liberal/leftist indoctrination, even though they may have great natural brain power, are unable to break the through their deified gray areas and "nuance," and accept reality.

The Republicans made mistakes, not the least of which was making themselves targets of people who own the media culture in this country. But 2 plus 2 will always equal 4, and the people will always mark the equation on the blackboard and act accordingly.

The reaction against the pro Hamas/terrorist-in-general activists has already begun; we'll just have to look at places like NB to see it.

No actually I'm a Nazi and

No actually I'm a Nazi and you must be a Jew Mr. fancy shmancy film critic. Haven't done a lot of research yet as to whether Nazi's refused to go see movies produced and stopped reading newspapers written at home because most of them were unfavorable to the image of their country being put forth, but if they did, that would be the only thing I had in common with them.

Now go pray to your higher power that the Government bails out your pathetic newspaper and Hollywood too Mr. cheeseeating film critic, else you may just be cutting my grass and polishing my jackboot's this summer to make enough scratch to stay out of the soup-kitchens and trust me, you don't want that.

History channel is running a pretty good "Valkyrie" piece. I thought it was well developed and true to what I already knew, no need to see the movie. Of course I pretty much refuse to see any movies these days.

Are Hitler and AA OtJEC one and the same?

First I only glanced at the article above and it seemed a bit deranged to me. As for the movie, I was treated (if you can call it that) to it over the holiday and unless I’m mistaken in the first few minutes Tom cruise makes a comment about how Hitler only obtained office by making promises of hope and change. It seems like last year I remember a fellow who was giving speeches promising hope and change and what little I watched of him he reminded me exactly of the old films I’ve seen of Hitler and his mindless subjects with their maniacal chanting. So instead of falling asleep in the first few minutes I stayed awake and found myself rooting for the good guys to kill this bad guy. I don’t want to spoil the ending so I’ll stop here.
