Comedienne Roseanne Barr called Israel a "NAZI state" Tuesday, while declaring "The destruction of the jews [sic] in Israel has been assured with this inhuman attack on civilians in gaza [sic]."
She also liked Hamas to a bunch of street gangs while depicting Israel's military action "equivilent to los angeles [sic] attacking and launching war on the people of watts [sic] to attempt to kill the bloods [sic] the crips [sic]."
Such was actually posted at her blog Roseanne World Tuesday.
The entire disgraceful rant is below the fold for those that can stand it (h/t Mere Rhetoric):
I said Israel will attack any boat carrying doctors and medical supplies--they have turned away the red cross already and all medical and food assistance. Israel is a NAZI state. The Jewish Soul is being tortured in Israel. The destruction of the jews in Israel has been assured with this inhuman attack on civilians in gaza. Hamas is the street gangs---this is equivilent to los angeles attacking and launching war on the people of watts to attempt to kill the bloods and the crips.
You know what's most amazing about this? Much of her Hollywood friends -- along with the vast majority of like-minded Netroot denizens -- silently -- and, for the latter, not so silently! -- agree with her.

Kevroy: To one degree,
December 31, 2008 - 12:48 ET by BDKevroy:
To one degree, she is correct albeit probably unintentionally. The Palestinian combatants over the past twenty years have decentralized themselves to the point that they have approached Crip/Blood status and have little control placed over them.
One of the issues my friends and I have often discussed is just how much control of their side of the fight any Palestinian leadership can possibly have since they "Religified" the terrorist fight in the 1980's by allowing JIHAD to be waged in their stead. After all, can someone who expects to go immediately to heaven upon their death have access to all those virgins have any control placed over them by a central authority who wants to adhere to a cease fire?
When Hamas, Hezbollah etc allowed Jihad to be waged as a method, they effectively surrendered the potential for their control of the fight.
One of the key questions is just how much Hamas is willing to do to maintain a cease fire if they ever decide to adhere to one. Are they willing to hunt down and kill those who support them now who seek just such a glorious end? I doubt it since it only provokes Jihad against themselves by the same nutcases and they are riding a very hungry tiger while holdings its tail.
In the current situation, Isreal cannot expect Hamas, Hezbollah to be able to control ANYTHING. After all, during the supposed ceasefire of the past six months, over 3000 rockets were lofted towards Israeli cities. How many of them were authorized by Hamas? I doubt any were, most were probably fired by the various sects who have little control.
In this case, Isreal is doing the right thing, kill as many enemies as possible and do not tie their own hands through another fake cease fire agreement that Hamas will not nor cannot adhere to.
Barr inadvertantly reached that point with her Crips/Bloods analogy. I wonder when it will be understood?
Mahdi army
December 31, 2008 - 17:40 ET by TjexciteWorth this train of thought, one has to wonder how much control Muqtada al-Sadr had with his army and if it was an army. He may have had control to have the ceasefire, as did the early leaders of Hamas. But after 20 years the leadership is gone and they are separate cells with only a small interaction with each other cells with no down stream orders and with individual control of at most 300 fighters for any one operation. It was just luck that the Mahdi army for all intense purposes died in 2008 as they may have been the the new Hamas and decentralized with the exile of Sadr to Iran.

December 31, 2008 - 21:11 ET by BDTJ:
I have often wondered what the Sadrists saw in the Muqtada. He did not openly do the Jihad thing as much as we see with the Hamas and particularly Hezbollah, rather acted the Arafat role, trying to ride the line.
One wonders why he did not, perhaps he wished to maintain more control over his minions than to scatter them in the Jihad?

December 31, 2008 - 12:06 ET by JillCWWhy can't the liberals figure out that THEY are the new Nazis? I'll give you three guesses and the first three don't count. That said, Barr has no clue what it means to try to survive in Israel. Has she ever been there? And why are all those liberal Jews (if one could still consider them Jewish since they hate Israel and fellow Jews so much) on the side of their enemies? Well, for starters regarding Gaza, read 1 Amos 6. And iffin' you have time, read all of Amos. Sheesh, it's short and filled with neat stuff that puts all this in perspective. Now I know why 2/3 of unbelieving Jews (I am a Messianic and can say this) will be wiped out during the Tribulation. Perhaps, it's the just consequence for treason.

Jewish support for Democrats goes back to FDR who defeated Hitler and Nazism. As a result, three generations of Jews in America have been raised as Democrats. It's very difficult to break this chain of indoctrination.
After all, we could make the case that Republicans have been FAR better for African-Americans than Democrats. Yet, this bloc is virtually all left-leaning as well.
In fact, you could make the case that there are very few demographic groups that are at all served by Democrats. Yet, they now control two branches of our government.
Is it better propaganda coming from the left or diminished intellectual capacity? You tell me. ns

December 31, 2008 - 12:48 ET by Chris NormanNoel,
I sort of asked the same thing myself here yesterday. The elected national Democrats have been, up until now, fairly consistent in their support of Israel. However, the "New Left" - the Kos and Air America crowd's anti-Israel attitude will sooner or later start showing up in the Democrats in Congress. I wondered that, when it does, if that will be enough to snap the Dems lock on the Jewish vote?
The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.
Dems are more shrewd,
December 31, 2008 - 12:38 ET by mattmDems are more shrewd, slick and clever. They are far better at political calculation and propaganda. They set up policy positions, which if opposed, make the opponent look like a bigot.
But since only idiots or ignoramuses could fall for this, the answer to your question is both.
I've heard some Jewish conservatives claim that the Liberal Jews are the non-religious ones whose Jewishness is merely nationality and has no more to do with Israel than I have to do with Italy.
As for the other constituency groups...the Dems pander, and they get votes in return... This is why Obama was compelled to dance around the question of when life begins and say it's "above his pay grade" to answer. It's also why Dem voters can bring themselves to vote for someone so obviously full of crap.
Republicans need to learn how to fight, while not abandoning their principles. Sadly, they're too busy trying to pander to Democrat swing vote, instead of trying to persuade people to convert.

Apparently they had all been hit over the head with the Bible at some point. They were all now convinced that Christians are super arrogant jerks with nothing to offer but empty platitudes and lousy attitudes. Yuck, didn't mean to make a lame rhyme.
Anyway, ever since, I get annoyed when I see people quoting the Bible in a way that can be perceived as know it all. If we do that, we are playing into the stereotype that effectively pushes people away.

December 31, 2008 - 16:59 ET by sherylsimsYes, we thought she was very funny back in the early 80's when we first saw her. And she did some ads for Ralph's grocery store that had us all laughing out loud. I think at some point during the second season of her TV show she got bitter and also full of herself. Then she wasn't funny any more. (It was about the time she divorced her husband and abandoned her kids.)

December 31, 2008 - 19:42 ET by cocodrieIt is not my two cents worth. That is what is written in scripture.>/p>
Better check on your translations of the bible. The King James was translated from the Latin Vulgate and not the original languages and is not the most accurate.
congratulations on your years of teaching but I have a few more years teaching than you.
Be careful being dogmatic on some points. You could be wrong - I have been wrong many times over my many years. That is why I take the bible for exactly what it says without any added meanings.
Gen. 3:16
December 31, 2008 - 19:23 ET by cocodrieGen 3:16 tells Eve she will have difficulty bearing children.
Gen. 4:1 says "And Adam knew Eve His wife and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said I have gotten a man from the Lord." Her conception of Cain is when she had intercourse with Adam.
I have seen this claim before that Cain and Abel were twins but it is not supported by scripture.
God bless and have a blessed year.
Don't get angry with me...
December 31, 2008 - 21:29 ET by sentforth5but all I did was take a simple Strong's concordance and looked up that word AGAIN and it sent me to the Hebrew dictionary reference number 3254 and the word in the Hebrew is yasap and it means: "a primitive root; to add or augment (often adverbally to continue to do a thing ) :- add, again, any more, cease, come more, conceive again, continue, exceed, further...etc"
So in context we read: Gen 4:1-And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said. I have gotten a man from the Lord.
Yes, Adam did know his wife and the child was Abel. EVE said(nine months later) I got a man from the Lord...Eve said that...not God...let's read on:
Gen 4:2 And she AGAIN bare his brother Abel. And Able was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
So she continued in birth which means she had twins. Note in verses 3 &4 that the children came of age to make their offerings to God at the same time...simple, they were twins. And isn' it interesting that Abel kept sheep, much like Christ.
I don't expect anyone to believe me or disbelieve me,but I am a teacher, and as such I am responsible to teach the truth of what I've learned, and I will certainly answer to God for what I've taught. In fact, we teachers are going to be the first one's judged so that everyone can see what is to become of us. I won't apologize for the Word of God. I wish the King James Bible still had the original letter that the orginizers wrote to the readers. They said they did the best they could, but it was only a translation and that they knew there were things in it that may not be correct, and to be a diligent reader.
Through the years since 1611, God has blessed us with many aides to help us study...we have the Smith's Bible Dictionary, The Strong's Concordance, The Moffat Bible, The Companion Bible by E. Bullinger and many others to help us study to show ourselves approved.
I'm not bashing anyone, this is simply what I teach..if I'm wrong God will make short work of me, He guaranteed me of that. This will be my last comment for the night,as I fear I am whizzin every body off, and this is a night of celebration.
God Bless NB!

December 31, 2008 - 22:49 ET by cocodriePlease, I could never find fault with a good discussion. I am just going by the simple scripture. I use the King James along with others.
While the word again (yacaph) can mean to continue its primary is to add or augment. It simply means she added another child to the family. In Gen 25:1 It says "Then again (yacaph) Abraham took a wife and her name was Ketturah." This is a separate occurance from his taking other wives.
I beleive that the two verses Gen.4:1 andd Gen.4:2 are two separate occurances.
Cain's murder of Abel was committed years after their birth. Scripture says nothing about their age at that time.
This is one of those areas where interpretation one way or the other is neither right nor wrong. It has no bearing on the bible message. I enjoy reading your posts an find that I agree with them. I should not have commented on this here because I made it appear that an insignificant point is of major importance.
God bless - Jesus is Lord!
when a new
January 1, 2009 - 11:18 ET by sentforth5When a new thought or occurence happens in the scripture, or the beginning of a new subject is introduced, just after the verse number a black bold mark appears (not available on my keyboard) to denote the new thought. In 2Peter ch 1: 20 God says through Peter that no no prophecy in scripture is of any private interpretation. That's why Christ said "Behold, I have foretold you all things."
cain and Abel produced their offerings to the Lord at the same time, whatever the age of accountability was is not relavent...they both came to that age at the same time. Twins.
In John ch 8 v 44 Jesus says to the kenite scribes:"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. he was a murderer from the beginning....."- who was the first murderer? Cain. The law against murder was not pronounced by God prior to the murder of Abel, Therefore God did not punish him with death, but rather put a mark on him so people could identify him as a killer. That is the root of the mark of the beast. John ch 38 is only one of many places that identifies the children of cain.
In Rev ch 20:2 it says satan was "that old serpent"-"And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the devil, and satan, and bound him a thousand years."
Can you really buy the story that a talking snake was in a wooden tree talking Eve into eating an apple? I don't see apple anywhere there.....
Thanks for the discussion; as I said, I don't want you to believe me or disbelieve me, this is simply what I teach, and I will answer for it good or bad,
Thanks!

Question sf5
January 1, 2009 - 11:24 ET by sherylsimsIf it were the case that some people were descended from Satan then wouldn't they have been eliminated through the flood? How did they all go through Noah's family and not combine blood lines?
well....
January 1, 2009 - 11:55 ET by sentforth5Noah was instructed to take TWO OF ALL FLESH aboard the ark(Gen 7:16). The children of satan had Eve for their mother and were therefore flesh and in 1Chronicles ch 2 v 55 we read:
And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and the Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house a Rechab. So the kenites did make it through the flood.
Some even believe that the flood was not world-wide, that it only filled the valley of the giants...Kidren, I think, and even ancient Chinese history recorder a huge flood to their west..... I'm not sure, but an olive tree cannot grow to maturity in 150 days, but as the flood waters went down, the dove returned to Noah with an olive leaf in her beak. So that's my understanding so far.
Noah's Generations were perfect in pedigree, but after the flood there were instances of cross breeding and the outcome was not good. That's how Esau lost his birth-right and the promise was given to Jacob. But through Japheth, I think, Adam's bloodline was preserved.
Amos 8:11 Put some meat on dem bones!
sentforth, why would you
January 1, 2009 - 12:23 ET by botgsentforth, why would you assume the offering is brought for attaining the age of accountability?
Also it is explicitly stated that the mark was so others would not kill Cain, it was implied that they would know him.
Also you will note that Noah brought 7 each of the clean animals into the ark, does this not teach you that the law was known before it being codified through the writing of Moses? What else were they aware of? Yom Kippor, perhaps?

Hey botg! Happy New Year!
January 1, 2009 - 12:59 ET by sentforth5I never assume..I have come to the opinion that this is the case by many of the Authors and Theologians I've come to trust over the years. In the Strong's Concordance hebrew dictionary, in context to Gen.4:3, that word offering was rendered from minha #4503:
From an unused root meaning to apportion;i.e. to bestow,a donation. euphemistically tribute....and so on. To me these are adult activities.
Until God states something it is not law. "Be fruitful and multiply" was law because God told them to do it.Do not murder had not yet been ststed by God ,and in my opinion, until Adam and Eve had their downfall, everyone prior to them and were innocent people free of sin. Sin was introduced by satan. Like I said, IN MY OPINION.
When God said "of every clean beast thou shall take to thee by sevens" that became Law to Noah, but the formal codice, or law, was not introduced until the time of Moses. Note ch 7 : 16 says: And they went in, male and female OF ALL FLESH, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in.
God placed a mark on Cain so that people would recognize him and not kill him because he did not break a law. Plus God has an Election to use to execute good on the Earth as well as a negative group of people who execute the bad on this Earth and therefore the Earth has Good and evil so we all have a level playing field, for us to choose one or the other. Therein are we judged. That is my opinion.
Amos 8:11 Put some meat on dem bones!
right as i said before the
January 1, 2009 - 13:41 ET by botgright as i said before the law was codified, Noah knew what clean animals were without explanation.
also re Cain:
13 Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me."
15 But the LORD said to him, "Not so [e] ; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over." Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod, [f] east of Eden.
so that no one who found him, how would they find him without recognizing him?

Yikes...I've done all I
January 1, 2009 - 14:29 ET by sentforth5Yikes...I've done all I can do on the subject of cain....I would only be repeating myself..see if you can do a study on the mark of the beast....maybe we can both benefit from it....
God elects bad? My response will be in examples.
Joel ch 2 speaks of the locust army...same army described in Rev ch9...These are religious types sent by God to confuse and strip bare the minds of would-be Christians...they feed Christians with lies about Christ... God said in Joel ch2:25
And I will restore to you the years thet the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, MY GREAT ARMY WHICH I SENT AMONG YOU. Why would God send an army that tells lies about the deity of Christ?
How 'bout Pharoah? God set him up for Moses to tear him down..God said many times of Pharoah and the Egyptians..."Pharoah shall not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt." (Gen 11:9)
God uses some very ugly people in a negative aspect so that His ultimate will should come to pass. He allows satan's evil spirit to be on Earth for that very reason.
At the catabole, or overthrow of satan in the first Earth age, God pronounced death on satan, but He didnt kill him right away because He is using Him much like a tool. I did not say evil elect, but He uses the election as well as a particular group of "bad"people to accomplish good and evil on the Earth so everybody has even examples of both so God can see what each individual will choose. Then comes judgement and each child receives what they chose.
Hey, I gotta leave the computer and do some stuff. Be back later!

1. The Bible not only does
January 1, 2009 - 04:26 ET by tim_gallant1. The Bible not only does not need to tell us every time that conception precedes birth - it does not do so just a few verses later, in 4.25, when Seth is born. It does not need to tell us about sexual relations every time, either; as in most instances, it does not.
2. The affirmation of Eve immediately follows in response to the birth of Cain, not to the birth of Abel. It is an affirmation of faith, made in light of what God had said in Gen 3.15. He had promised seed that would fight for her in contest with the serpent.
3. Scripture never suggests that Cain's biological father is the serpent. If the serpent/Satan really were the father, that silence would be beyond surprising, given the conversations between God and Cain before and after the murder of Abel. But instead, God treats Cain with gentleness and entreaty; indeed, He tells Cain that if he does well, he will be accepted. (In truth, Satan could not father a child. The notion that angels father children is based on a serious misreading of Genesis 6, which in turn arises due to failure to understand the thread of Gen 4-5.)
4. The reason there are separate genealogies is simple: by *defection* (not birth), Cain had *become* seed for the serpent, and Seth's line carries on the godly line. These are thus placed in opposition - not because of some biological difference, but due to a covenantal one.
There is nothing in the text - whether the King James Version, or the Hebrew - to support your position.

December 31, 2008 - 15:24 ET by ahusserscriptural thunderbolts at each other. I am not sure what the disconnect is or why they would go against their seeming self-interest. They are historically a people who were active in the socialist/communist movements and were in the vanguard of said movement(s). Many were exiled or escaped persecution for their socialist beliefs and being Jewish and ended up here. Their support of Stalin always baffled me but it is the ideology that trumps all apparently. But you see the overwhelmingly anti-Israel stance the left continually puts forth which to me is disguised anti-semitism. I think they traditionally have a suspicion of those they believe are on the right as incipient Nazi's or fascists no matter how many Republican Administration's have been staunch allies of Israel. They may also (maybe rightfully so) fear the Christian Right as anti-semitic in nature and very much allied with the Republican Party. On the other hand I believe the Israeli's know who their allies are. Someone blogged on a similar thread a while ago that absentee ballots from jews from Israel were mostly for McCain. I don't know if this was true but would be logical. But Obama's election changes much as I am thinking a more at least neutral stance the administration may take towards Israel for obvious reasons may throw the mideast into real turmoil and these missile attacks could seem like touch football.

I would suggest y'all read
December 31, 2008 - 18:08 ET by JillCWI would suggest y'all read the following piece by Ellis Washington. It would certainly put meat on your bones (as stated above in 8 Amos). http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=84945 Everytime a nation turns its back on Israel, God deals with that nation in like fashion. Remember the Abrahamic Covenant is an everlasting deal. As for Cain and Abel, they were not the twins. Jacob and Esau were and Jacob is often referred to as the deceiver or supplanter. That's not the case, but that's a whole other lesson. Esau was out to kill Jacob before they were even born. Jacob landed a few pre-emptive strikes to stop the infanticide by his own twin.

December 31, 2008 - 19:21 ET by sentforth5Aww, forget it...no, I must say that cain and Able were indeed fraternal twins.
Anyhoo.. Happy New Years
Amos 8:11 Put some meat on dem bones!
Um, who cares whether Cain
December 31, 2008 - 21:27 ET by BDUm, who cares whether Cain and Able were twins or not. It is not germaine to the question.
I personnally assert that the first Jew was named Bolliver Shagnasty III.... And that has just as much relevance.
Fret not, J3,
December 31, 2008 - 21:23 ET by R D HelmIf recent history holds, and I believe that it will, Olmert will be caving fairly soon, thus leaving plenty of your Hamas friends around to fire their rockets indiscriminately (at least the IAF is targeting the Hamas launch sites and command centers-not their fault the cowardly Hamas bastards just happen to locate them in populated areas) into Israel somewhere down the road. Or, maybe next time it will be Hezbollah, or some other group. Who knows?
Of course, now that Barack Hussein Obama (who is certainly no friend of the Jewish race, the smallest minority on the planet) is but twenty days from his anointing, perhaps you and your tolerant friends can convince him, as well as his favorite organization, the UN, to jointly declare the state of Israel a failure, and have it relocated to a place where they will not be in conflict with your precious Palestinians. Say, somewhere like the moon.
Of course, the violence in the region will continue virtually uninterrupted, as the different Palestinian factions will quickly begin to square off against each other. You see, what you and most of your ilk doesn't seem to realize is that, the only thing the Palestinian people hate more than Jews is other Palestinians. Instead of randomly launching their lethal projectiles at Jews, they will be lobbing them at each other.
That is, the ones who aren't busy building a spaceship so they can fly to the moon and kill all the Jews who were moved up there.

December 31, 2008 - 23:02 ET by cocodrieThese children would still be alive if Hamas did not put women and children at their rocket launch sites and keep them there at gunpoint.
You really need to open your eyes see reality. Can't you see that Hamas wants them to be martyrs?
Yes Jackie
January 1, 2009 - 11:19 ET by ahusserWar is a sad, violent affair with many innocents caught in the crossfire but if the blue meanie Israeli's would stop defending themselves well then we could all buy the world a coke and live in harmony and sing Kumbayah with the One raising his hands and it will be so. Stop drinking the Kool aid and use your mind.

I had to vent on this last
December 31, 2008 - 19:45 ET by WorriedI had to vent on this last day of a hellish year. Roseanne Barr is an idiot and so are the people siding with Hamas.
Israel has been more than patient with the scum that want them destroyed. I don't care if it is a 1,000 stones or a homemade bomb, Hamas will use anything to try to kill Israelis. THEY DO NOT WANT PEACE WITH ISRAEL. They want to wipe them ALL out, just like mini Hitler does.
Jackie, there is nothing you or the other defenders of the scum can say to justify the constant terror being inflicted upon Israel. If Hamas kills only a couple of Israelis and the Israelis kill 200 Palestinians, in my eyes it is equal. Israel has the big guns and Hamas knows it. They are asking for it and are to blame for any civilian deaths.
The U.S.A. is a superpower because of our military strength. That is why the countries that hate us don't dare start a war with us.
Unfortunately, with a bunch of liberal nutjobs coming into power, our military strength may dwindle.

She has always been like this
December 31, 2008 - 23:44 ET by crtuneI know someone who was in the production wing of Carsey Werner. I've heard the stories. Apparently no one in their right mind would actually WANT to go on set during the "Roseanne" production.
Her typical response upon noticing someone new on set was: "Who is that person on set?"
Roseanne was "odd" then, too.

Roseanne? Jewish?
January 1, 2009 - 09:50 ET by sherylsimsNo, I don't think so. If I recall correctly she was from Utah and was brought up in a Mormon family under pretty crappy circumstances. She rejected that pretty early in life. I noticed when I saw her on a re run of Third Rock from the Sun the other day though she was saying all these yiddish words, trying to SOUND Jewish. I assumed it was because she thought it was funny. (That would have been sometime in the 80's maybe by now she IS Jewish j/k)
She's half-jewish

She claims to be a Kabbalahist and Christian now but she's also a known liar so who knows what she is.

About all I can ever say
January 1, 2009 - 15:23 ET by RR GOPAbout all I can ever say with these 'celebs' is that as far as most of them are concerned I do not do anything to add to their wealth nor their fame...don't watch/buy their movies, don't watch their shows and thus their advertising, don't buy their books, don't buy their products, don't buy their CDs...
I've seen maybe 30 minutes total of her awful TV show over the years (mostly looking around for something decent to watch). I hope that many people complaining about her now are not the same ones who helped make her rich and famous 20 years ago.
