Is there no depth the global warming fear-mongers won't go to scare the public into believing carbon dioxide is destroying the planet?
Apparently not, as a new ad by the environmental group Greenpeace disgracefully depicts an ocean rescue of a seasick and vomiting Santa Claus from a supposedly melting North Pole.
As the animation comes to a close, the caption "Climate Change hits everybody" fills the screen (video embedded below the fold, h/t Giovanni's World):
Isn't that special?

My husband's diatribe.
December 21, 2008 - 22:52 ET by mizflame98I guess it's a good thing that this subject came up. Now I have a reason to share my husband's brilliant rantings. He likes to as be puts it, "excoriate liberal weenies" on Newsvine. I had to share what he posted about global warming because it's really brilliant stuff. Sorry if some of his descriptions offend anyone. I love the fact that he has a bit of barbarian in him instead of trying to pawn himself off as a metrosexual wuss.
global what ?
DEAR SHEEP,
In the 70's all the best scientists, and all the news stories said that we were well on our way to another ice age. disaster loomed on the horizen. The cause for this impending disaster... yup you guessed it... white people driving SUV's ... the immense wealth of america... and unbridled captalism. Proof was found in the growing Ice caps at the north and south poles millions in goverment (your) money went to study this problem.
after briefly freaking out (mostly the people that though Carter was a great president) the rest of us YAWNED (and went back to grazing) since it was going to be so cold all the stores moved into well heated malls and we went on consuming. ( I bough new ski's in case I was wrong, the snow skiing was going to be great i love winter)
THEN.... an enormous ( big ass ) hole appeared in the ozone layer we were all to be incinerated by blasts of UV rays or something rendering the planet sterile. Oh the ensuing panic was something, billions of goverment (your) money went pouring into the pockets of scientists. We blamed all the usual suspects yup (white people, SUVs capitalism etc etc) any who...
Like global cooling this soon faded from the news in our guilt we banned using CFCs in our deodarant spray cans bought SPF 90 (peanut butter) sun tan lotion and we went back to our happy all american glutonous SUV driving, consumer driven life styles... but the forces of doom and gloom did not sleep...
YES.... behind the scenes left leaning weenies and scientist that were runnong out of all that "hole in the ozone layer" money were plotting there next moves..
Now lefties world wide in there left leaning jelousies of arogant ass america and its SUV driven glutonous consumerism were plotting to strike... this time backed up by the hands down no holds barred absolute WORST most disgusting polution producing 3rd world and communist country advisaries of the USA. we have managed to cook up the latest ( your an idiot if you don't believe it) disaster ... ta dah.. GLOBAL WARMING !
Now having learned from there last two flopped attempts at rolling back our way of life. And using every new media tool known to man and constantly staying on message (four legs good two legs better) using computers and celeberties TV you are now in the middle of having Global warming stuffed up you ass and all kinds of people are getting rich at your expense in the process Al Gore and his world tour are making big cash selling Bull@!$%# like "carbon credits" ( I love that one! I wish I had thought that one up! I'd be rich!) The scientist oh oh oh man ... The scientist those guys are dilligently digging up any global warming angle they can add to the mix in hopes of getting the big money funding ( hey there kids need to go to college also) Pissing away trillions of goverment (your) money world wide in an effort to save us from the evils of well esssentially you guessed it by now. white people driving SUV,s in pursuit of the all american glutonous consumer driven greedmo lifestyle. YOU ARE ALL GOING TO ****ING DIE!! unless you let "Big Al" and his global warming world tour which flies from city to city in a private jet and rolls into town in a convoy of armored 5 mile per gallon SUVs explain to you for a small $85 dollar ticket price ( not including the $30 dollar carbon credit concert T-shirt made in a 3rd world sweat shop), how you serfs should be living... The Answer Is.....
December 22, 2008 - 09:13 ET by nofateNS: "Is there no depth the global warming fear-mongers won't go to scare the public into believing carbon dioxide is destroying the planet?"
No.
Here is an article by Andrew Bostom (h/t ), advancing the theory that an AGW Jihad is in progress and going to get more radical:
Mr. Bostom has written extensively on the subject of modern Islamic Jihad and its roots in the historical beginnings of Islam, as well as pointing out how Islam has not been "hijacked", but is as consistent as it has been from the beginning in its efforts to subjugate the rest of the world. The similarities of the tactics of the AGW advocates to those of the Islamofascists is his point.
BTW, it is now known that the connections between modern progressives, mainline communists, nazis, fascists- wether Italian, German, Spanish or whatever- and the islamofascists are vast. They all come from the same roots, i.e. Rousseau and the French Revolution, then Marx/Engels. Holdren is just another fascist in a new fascist administration that will keep up the facade that conservatives are the true fascists as long as we continue to let them get away with it. I know, the MSM is no help. And using our children against us is justified if the end is state control.
Note the new show on NatGeo or Discovery, the stupid "Whale Wars". I could only take a few minutes of that trash before I had to turn it off. But there are many out there just lapping that stuff up- especially the college age kids. Sad.

Update: Whale Wars
December 22, 2008 - 10:26 ET by nofateNoel: this is a piece of work. This show is on Animal Planet. Aside: One of our regular commenters, in this blog thread, seemed to be giving another grief for linking to the vid that you covered in this blog post. (BTW, it appears that Clear may have been the first to throw out that vid link.) But, I guarantee you that this "Santa" vid is kindergarten to what is passing for courage on Animal Planet in the show called "Whale Wars" (sorry about the wiki link, but it does have interesting info that led me elsewhere- see following).
The group sailing the ship "MV Steve Irwin" is portrayed as a courageous group of selfless heroes sailing off to save the whales from evil Japanese whalers. The reality is very different.
These idiots are led by a guy named Paul Watson of the Sea Sheppard Conservation Society (SSCS). I found the following interesting information at the "Activist Cash" website:
The point of this is, that they (the left) would love to see us getting into internal arguments about the appropriateness of linking to a vid, article, blog, whatever. A misdirection while they are busy every day showing crap like "Whale Wars" to our kids who watch Animal Planet in droves to see all the cute animals. And being brainwashed in the process to believe that idiots like the SSCS and PETA activists are heroes!
Thought you might find it interesting.

December 22, 2008 - 10:43 ET by BlondeAs always, you've posted really great stuff.
I really used to enjoy National Geographic and other "nature" shows (Blue Planet - The Oceans on the plasma monster is absolutely amazing). But the continuous references to "climate change" and global warming has totally ruined any enjoyment in watching that kind of programming.
Couple that with the schools turning kids into little eco-warriors (thankfully I was spared that), and we are totally warping enviromentalism. Notice there's never any mention of "resource management".
Anyway, great links, thanks. Hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and stay warm, wherever you may be!

The Best Tactic.
December 22, 2008 - 12:10 ET by nofateThat is probably the best thing you could do. When my youngest was in 4th or 5th grade, she had to do a report on the dangers of 2nd hand smoke. Because Rush had pointed out the suppressed U.N. WHO report that could not find a link to 2nd hand smoke (and another from the National Cancer Institute), we spent a lot of time together trying to find that report, and finally did (I can't find it now, maybe someone else has it). It made her think. I have lost her for a while due to her idealism being hijacked by the college proffessoriat, but she is a questioner and a truth seeker (I allow myself some credit), and is due to come back to the light at some point in the future. Don't ever give up.
And Merry Christmas.

Never, Never, Never Give Up
December 22, 2008 - 12:33 ET by nofateAs a commenter quoted Winston Churchill as saying on another thread. I try to not argue about it or disparage the professors, but instead just keep doing what I normally do, and ask (hopefully probing) questions that force them to think about what they are spouting. Being confrontational just seems to make them dig in their heels. It is a sad but true fact that most of the violent radicals/revolutionaries down through history came from comfortable surroundings, but were radicalized by combinations of teachers and events: Marx, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Mao, Lenin, Bill Ayers, Barrack Obama, and countless others. Of course there are always the exceptions like Hitler and Stalin, both of whom came from unbelievably abusive backgrounds. Point is, this is where hope and change come into play for conservative parents. Hope you eventually win her over and find a positive change in her thinking once she heads out into the real world and gets slapped upside the head with life. What we have hopefully done is give them a philosophy that will guide them when they have to rely on themselves. A lot of metaphors come to mind: raise your children up in the ways of the lord..., the apple doesn't fall far..., the prodigal son, etc. Sometimes it seems like an age before they come around, but they usually do.
Merry Christmas to all.

December 22, 2008 - 12:46 ET by general companyShe's finally to the point of refusing to listen to anything conservative from us.
I had this problem for a little while with my oldest. I quit refering to anything as us or them, libs or conserv, Dems or Repubs. If a liberal taking point came out of her mouth I would just politly question her into circles and leave her to think about it. I would just take the practical road, witch is always the conservitive road. Asking questions and never giving an opinion worked way better then I thought, she snapped out of it in no time at all.

You Nailed It
December 22, 2008 - 12:52 ET by nofateThat's where I was trying to get to, but couldn't quite make it: it's the opinions that they can't stand. "When I was your age...", etc. Their own opinions are, of course, so much more important. Making constant flanking movements around the professoriat's assaults by just asking rational questions works for me too. Keeping my own opinions to myself is, well, tough. But nothing worth doing is easy, right?

December 22, 2008 - 12:59 ET by Clear thinkerYou guys sure have a lot of patience. I have tried to use reason over the years, but got nowhere. I then tried asking probing questions, but got nowhere. "I have tried to use reason over the years, but got nowhere."
Reason will never work with a lib. It is impossible. That is why flanking attacks, digging at the root of their fallacious thinking, is necessary. Sort of like a seige. Frontal assaults just bring out the innate emotional defenses. They can never be shown to be wrong, they have to figure it out for themselves. Note how passionate a new conservative is, that used to be a lib. Once they are willing to listen and are open to truthful and helpful criticism (as in critical thinking- not the exact word I want), then you can go to town.

December 22, 2008 - 16:45 ET by littlemissmuffinWe had a real in-depth discussion on raising the minimum wage. She refused to understand that if the minimum wage goes up, the price of everything goes up. She just wants everyone to make a living wage, but doesn't take into consideration their willingness to work or get ahead. Some people in this world just have no ambition and don't want to do what's necessary to get ahead. Again, no understanding from her.
Maybe one day when she's working in the real world (she's getting her 4th degree now), she will find out what life's all about.
The funny thing is, her car was stolen awhile back. She was livid and wanted the thief punished. Now, that's NOT liberal mentality, so maybe there is hope. :)
