Will Media Report Obama Going Back On Campaign Promises?

When promises candidate Barack Obama made to voters during the campaign get tossed aside like so much rubbish, will media hold his feet to the fire?

Such is an important question given how many pledges Democrats and their leaders made to garner the public's support in 2006 which ended up being completely irrelevant once the 110th Congress was sworn in.

For the most part, as each campaign commitment was tossed on the trash heep, Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Reid, and all their accomplices were given a pass by "journalists" from coast to coast.

With this in mind, Politico on Monday published a list of campaign promises the president-elect has already gone back on -- or appears to be in the process of doing so -- that an honest media, despite their complicity in getting him elected, should be aggressively reporting if getting the policies enacted were more important than getting the person they liked in the White House (h/t Hot Air, photo courtesy AP via Politico):

Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. He’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And he’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left. [...]

Obama drew rousing applause at campaign events when he vowed to tax the windfall profits of oil companies. As president-elect, Obama says he won’t enact the tax.

Obama’s pledge to repeal the Bush tax cuts and redistribute that money to the middle class made him a hero among Democrats who said the cuts favored the wealthy. But now he’s struck a more cautious stance on rolling back tax cuts for people making over $250,000 a year, signaling he’ll merely let them expire as scheduled at the end of 2010.

During the campaign Obama gained labor support by saying he favored legislation that would make it easier for unions to form inside companies. The “card check” bill would get rid of a secret-ballot method of voting to form a union and replace it with a system that would require companies to recognize unions simply if a majority of workers signed cards saying they want one. Obama still supports that legislation, aides say – but union leaders are worried that he no longer talks it up much as president-elect.

Clearly, these promises were key to candidate Obama gaining support not just from the public, but also from left-leaning entities including MoveOn.org as wells as folks throughout the liberal blogosphere and, maybe most importantly, unions.

If he tosses all of these aside after his inauguration, his campaign slogan should be retroactively amended to "Change You CAN'T Believe In!"

The only question is whether or not media will tell his supporters just how duped they were.

Of course, in this instance it may be very difficult for press members to do so. After all, they were just as flim-flammed as the public, unless the policies being extolled by candidate Obama were completely irrelevant to the nation's so-called "journalists."

Stay tuned.

How can the Messiah be wrong?

Noel....I guess the chickens have.......well you know

The man promised the earth, moon, and stars, to be evcrything to everyone..........Not going to happen, and those that bought his line of BS, are going to be the ones most dissappointed..... "ya mean he's not going to pay my mortgage"?

BG - I wonder if they can find

that woman who was sooooo happy that she was going to take care of him by voting for him and he was going to pay her mortgage and put gas in her car...wouldn't it make a good YouTube video to hear her extol how great it's been since he did that for her????  Bet it would get millions of hits ;-)

I doubt very highly that

I doubt very highly that the Lame Stream Media that got coke-head Obama selected in first place will report on anything that will really damage him.

It would reflect badly on them, but wait a second, they've already lost any credibility that they had by refusing to look into and properly vet this empty suit.

The more things ...

The more things change, the more they remain the same. Actions speak louder than words.

After Obama is sworn in as POTUS, look for things to change and not for the better. He's changing his tune now before being sworn in, imagine what will happen after he is POTUS. God help us all.

Remember folks, Freedom isn't Free. It was bought with the blood and sacrifice of the men and women who are serving and who have served in the U.S. Armed Services.

For those who fought for it, Freedom has a flavor that the protected will never know.

SD - the man has proven ONE thing to me

and that is that he is NOT a man of his word.  Therefore, I consider him not worthy of my respect.

A man's word is his honor...at least that is what we Americans have been brought up to believe.  He apparently thinks otherwise.

Not at First

No one asociated with the win will be complaining at first.

The last thing you want to do is criticize your own product and confirm that you sold people a lemon. But as time goes on if Obama doesn't fall in line with his promises things and supporters will begin to turn on him behind the scenes. Of course this will never be shown in the media. The reason for his failures will obviously be tied to "legacy Bush issues". That way the sheep will not flee the flock.

It Will be Shown

"Of course this will never be shown in the media."

-The MSM.  It will be shown here and many other places in the "alternative" media.  We'll see how effective the light we are able to shine on Obamunism will be.

Geez

Geez, didnt see this coming......NOT.  GM will get bailed out too, and everything, and I mean EVERYTHING for the next 4 years will be sugar-coated or blamed (for the not so nice thing) on Bush.

Hell, they will still be bashing Palin years from now.

Just stirring up quotes!

"This is fun for the press to try to stir up whatever quotes were generated during the course of the campaign, and you’re having fun. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I’m not faulting it. But you can't hold me to anything I said during the campaign because I can walk on water." - The One

Who care if the media reports it?

The media might report it -- they might not. The most important thing is, will this continue? Let's hope and pray that Obama continues to break campaign promises -- because so far, each example given of a promise he might be breaking means the country is better off than it would be if he'd kept his word.

Now this might make other countries think twice about his diplomacy, when he promises THEM the world...but then, was Obama honestly elected for his foreign policy expertise? His historic stance on Iraq, yes -- foreign policy, no.

well gosh..

why would they start now?

"part of what I'm hoping to introduce as the next president is a new ethic of [government enforced] responsibility" - B. Obama

I hope he goes back on

I hope he goes back on those promises and a whole lot more. If he does, he might even get my vote in 2012. But I wouldn't get my hopes up. Just this past weekend, he was still talking up his wealth redistribution fantasies.

"Libs never let you down. You don't have to talk to one very long before the stupid comes out."

Well given that the

Well given that the Democrats broke virtually every promise of the 2006 election campaign which brought them into power of both houses of Congress, should we be surprised?  NOT

Should we be surprised that the GOP failed to capitalize on those broken promises rubbing their faces in it during the 2008 campaign?  NOT

Should we be surprised that the GOP failed to hold the Democrats feet to the fire over the mortgage meltdown?  NOT

Should the Democrats be concerned that the lunatic left will stop giving them money to win campaigns even though they generally renege on most of their salestalk to them?  NOT

Did Cindy Sheehan win against Pelosi???  That's a big NOT.

Should the Democrats be concerned that the public will hold them responsible for continuing to break promises and screwing up the economy when they so readily believe the propaganda from the Dems mouthpieces, the MSM.  NOT!

The Dems are a bunch of fast talking salesmen, they can even sell crap by calling it fertilizer. The general public is trusting and possesses short memories, a blessing for the Dems.  Sorry folks, the economy will have to go completely in the crapper before the general public wakes up to the fact that the MSM and Dems misled them.  It was that way prior to Reagan and history will have to repeat itself.  I only hope we are still here after 4 years of liberal lunacy has played out it's predictable course.

Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, starving the poor one gallon of ethanol at a time. Fill your tank with E85 and cull a village.

Of course they won't...The election was barely over...

when Obamessiah began backtracking on some campaign promises, and the media was, and has remained virtually silent.

I expect no change from this course as far as the MSM is concerned. Obama is their "chosen one" and they will do whatever they have to to try to cover for him and prop him up.

Will media report Obama

Will media report Obama going back on campaign promises? No! But Noel, with so many "journalist" hitting the unemployment line, why don't you try this fish-bowl experiment? Hire the biggest lib you can find. Then sit back and observe for a month or so, what types of "survival skills" he or she employs to "endure" the day-to-day "horrors" of  working so closely with so many conservatives.

Then publish your observations so we can all have a good laugh.

Might as well enjoy life while we can. Judging by the signals Obama is putting out, the next four years might be hell on earth.

LMAO!! Good idea, but I do

LMAO!!

Good idea, but I do not think that they would be able to survive for a month.  She/He/It would be completely decimated by the comments us NB'rs would be making of their blog. Remember, a lib cannot take any criticism at all.  It's in their DNA to give it not receive it.

Well, liberals are already

Well, liberals are already lining up for hell on earth concerning Obama. Read some of their comments here... Obama’s Honeymoon Over?
