Rosie O'Donnell's days of polluting television screens from coast to coast may be numbered, at least that's what the controversial comedienne told readers of her blog in recent days.
Her variety show Wednesday evening was such a flop that she not only believes it won't be picked up for additional installments, but she is also thinking "maybe just me on tv is done."
Could it be all those prayers NewsBusters readers made on Thanksgiving Day?
According to People.com, maybe (h/t NBer Rush Fan):
In her signature online shorthand, O'Donnell writes: "there will b no more. no ratings. bad reviews. yet still – a thrill 4 me."
On Saturday, Rosie answered a few readers with a bit more finality:
Pk Writes:
5 million is alot of people!! just wanted to let u know I LOVED it. Liza's entrance was so magical!!
thanks doll
it is a lot of people
but not enough 4 a pick up [...]me Writes:
I think the world is spoiled with your beautiful photos/movie/blog creativity. I think TV in general is just not as entertaining or personal. I think the show not doing well is just proof TV is done.
maybe just me on tv is done
From your lips to God's ears, Rosie!

That's a tough one. All the people you mentioned are very loony as far as I'm concerned. However, I can't stand Keith Olbermann. He's a big joke. He is one of the most arrogant left-wing loons, if not the most arrogant one.

I thought she was really
November 30, 2008 - 11:21 ET by andophiroxiaI thought she was really cool when she came out, because she showed this really nice and funny persona.
Then she came out and I thought "Oh well" and expected more of the Rosie I got accustomed to.
Then she got hateful and mean. Not only that, but the crap that came out of her mouth was the stupidest, rationalizing, unreasonable spew that I had ever heard. (I think it was the first wave of celebrities that believed in truthing.) There is one thing expressing differing political views, and there is spouting. The fact that she dressed up her kids as terrorists/"freedom fighters" in bandoliers with ammo on them (she's anti-gun) was the icing on the cake for me.
She has been spouting and that's what has redefined 'differing political views' as. I can't stand her for that now.

November 30, 2008 - 03:24 ET by Rush Fanfor the h/t and thank you for your work at NewsBusters.
Wow! Just had to reedit and add this comment: We NewsBusters bloggers are not alone. The comments at the Live Feed reflect a similar dissatisfaction with O'Donnell and her injecting politics into a "variety" show. Some of the commenters are not fans of NBC's left-wing bias as well.

NOTHING to offer aside from her own lame opinion, which is a dime a dozen. Every lefty believes as she does. It's just that the country is not that far left.

So, we won't have Rosie "to kick around anymore."
What a shame...
Poor Tokyo Rosie, Americans never understood her genius of attacking her own country during a time of distress. Yet now we were supposed to forget all of that bile and love her mastery of theatre...
Kinda like saying people don't enjoy a rusty chainsaw that kicks back on you all the time, yet can't even cut a branch on a tree when needed.

November 30, 2008 - 08:32 ET by suzycreamcheeseHas a variety show been successful since the Mandrell sisters had one back in the early eighties? I don't watch much TV so I don't know if anyone has been brave enough to try the variety format since then. It seems like variety shows are a dead breed...or should be.
It boggles my mind that after The View any producer would invest one thin dime on anything attached to Rosie's name. Hollywood is not very bright; I have a feeling this won't be the last we have to endure of Rosie O.

P.S.
Is it me or does that picture of her at the top of the story look like a Weekend at Bernies moment? She looks like a fur-clad corpse proped up on stage while a bunch of gay men dance around her effigy.

Liza Almost Didn’t Make It
If it looked half as good on screen as it did Wednesday night in the Little Shubert Theater, then Rosie O’Donnell’s live, one hour variety show is a hit.
Looking at it later on tape, even Rosie was relieved. Maybe it was because Liza Minnelli nearly didn’t come through.
and . .
So now: Rosie and crew wait for NBC’s Ben Silverman to green light a season of shows. The good news: everyone involved has already signed five year contracts. I say, put them on every Sunday at 8pm, or after football, from February through the end of theater season in May, and watch Rosie take over New York!

What suckers out there are
November 30, 2008 - 19:32 ET by RR GOPWhat suckers out there are still willing to bank roll her sorry self? Just amazes me that these media moguls or whatever they call themselves have so much money they can waste on these yahoos including Couric, Olbermann, Matthews, and lousy TV shows.
Why don't they just drop a few million on an Al Franken TV show and prove the fantastic wealth they apparently have like the Indians of old who would burn all their possessions to show how wealthy they were?
Please, keep screwing up and losing money so that you will all go away and get non-Communists on your staffs who will develop and write good shows and do real journalism. Haven't you all had enough yet?
