In today's Pot Calling the Kettle Black moment, CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric advises Sarah Palin to "keep her head down, work really hard and learn about governing."
When you stop laughing, consider that I'm not kidding.
Really. I'm not.
Here's what Couric told the New York Post's Richard Johnson at Glamour Magazine's 2008 Women of the Year Awards Monday (file photo):
I think she should keep her head down, work really hard and learn about governing. But I'm not anyone to give advice to anyone about anything.
Interesting how people that seem to understand their own limitations -- "I'm not anyone to give advice to anyone about anything" -- choose to publicly render opinions anyway.
When asked about her infamous interview with the Alaska governor and its impact, Couric said:
I was really just a conduit that allowed her to air her views...I don't want to judge. I'll let the voters do that.
Yeah...she doesn't want to judge. Anybody interested in buying a bridge?

I would love to Katie run a state like Alaska. Actually, no I don't. I have a lot of respect for Alaskans and would never wish this upon them.

Sarah, study media hatchet jobs

If I had one piece of advice for Gov. Palin, I'd study the way media hatchet jobs are done and learn to get your message out by any means necessary.

That is about all she is qualified to do.

Mssssss Couric is such a dynamic anchor of such a successful network news division, that absolutely no one is watching these days. Can you imagine what would happen to the ratings at CBS Evening News if they were to offer Sarah Palin Katie Couric's job! Wow, now that we be a coup! The ratings would blow the top off the chimney. I'd love it. Katie Couric out of a job. Maybe she could run for public orifice, I mean office.

Couric More Qualified To Be Plumber
November 13, 2008 - 11:11 ET by BigSpoon65Look out Joe, seems Katie is coming for your job. Nobody knows more about being in the toilet than Katie. She has taken a network that once ruled over all others in the news industry and pulled it right down the sh*tter. So thorough was she in decimating CBS news that she is now giving advice. Surprised the Obamunist doesn't reward her for her cheerleading although that might be perceived as a slight to Chrissy Matthews, Keith Olberman, Brian Williams, Andrea Mitchell, or Charlie Gibson who all jockied for "captain" of the cheerleading squad. Journalists, what are those and when was the last time one of them was seen? I thought they were extinct....

Advice For The Perky One

November 13, 2008 - 08:06 ET by BDThere are days I wish I was retired and able to fly to New York and stake out the newsoffices of her network. When able, I would approach Ms Couric with a camera as she is walking to her limo and begin peppering her with questions like:
1.) Katie, are we at war with Islamo Fascists?
2.) Katie, what is the stategic center of gravity of the current war on islamo fascist terror?
When she fails to provide an answer (or I am hauled off by the network security which is more likely) at least she will know what it feels like to play "Stump the chump" on the receiving end.
I think it would be instructive to create a montage of various MSM reporters being asked that question and viewing the responses. After all, they serve as the gatekeepers to information, it would be useful to see how bright and informed our gatekeepers truly are.

Lessons to be Learned
November 13, 2008 - 08:19 ET by northoneGee. The anchor of the lowest-rated newscast in America is advising one of the most popular and successful governor's of one of the largest states how to do her job. Isn't that special! No one knows how to do her job better than Katie. Since she took over the CBS Evening News, its ratings have fallen, it's mired in third place behind NBC and ABC, and shows no signs of improvement. Yes, that's certainly a good source of advice on how to do one's job. What a twit!
Couric should listen to other's advice as well...
November 13, 2008 - 08:25 ET by Ror4JCCouric has nothing to talk about. She should have listened to all those who must have been telling her to just stick with the Today show. Ever since replacing Bob Schieffer, she has only plummeted CBS News ratings.
So to Couric, "keep your head down, work really hard and learn about reporting."

November 13, 2008 - 09:07 ET by suzycreamcheeseFunny advice coming from a lady whose ratings have been tanking ever since she was hired. November 13, 2008 - 09:12 ET by marpelKinky Friedman, who lives up the highway from me, had a good point last night on Bill O'Reilly. He said that the problem is that Sarah Palin keeps getting trashed because women will not stand up for another woman if that woman is pro-life. He's absolutely right.
I am pro-life, and am a single Mom who works her A$$ off and is very independant. It doesn't matter. I get trashed by other women because I'm pro-life. To them, I'm a religious zealot. I don't even go to Mass every Sunday....

You got that right. And it starts in youth. My teenage daughter was recently the object of this "visciousness". Sadly, many women don't grow out of it. It just develops into something more hateful, and they should know better.
My Favorite Quote about the MSM fairness
November 13, 2008 - 09:36 ET by Retired Geek“I know a lot of you believe that most people in the news business are liberal.
Let me tell you, I know a lot of them, and they were almost evenly divided this time.
Half of them liked Senator Kerry; the other half hated President Bush.”
— CBS’s Andy Rooney on the November 7, 2004 60 Minutes.
The Truth About the MSM
November 13, 2008 - 09:38 ET by Retired GeekJohn Swinton, former chief of staff, New York Times, when called upon to give a toast before the New York Press Club (1953) said this:
"There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know it would never appear in print.
I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out in the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before 24 hours my occupation would be gone.
The business of the journalist is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread.
You know it and I know it, so what folly is this toasting an independent press. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings, we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes"
I sure hope
November 13, 2008 - 09:40 ET by 10ksnookerWe can get the fairness doctrine. Equal time on perky Katie's bombo laff show at CBS would be a huge improvement and a ratings boost as well.

Couric
November 13, 2008 - 11:58 ET by SemusDisgusting individual.
What arrogance is this going to go on for 4 years. Now Couric will allow Palin to benifit from her vast experience what a joke. The Main News presenters, can get away with, because to many people in our country are uninformed, and more importantly uninterested, in facts and history, and perfectly happy to remain so.
I read somewhere that Soros planned to spend millions to ensure the destruction of Bush's legacy, and our wonderful democratic party is happily going along with that if their intention to investigate his administration is true. It will be 50 years before the truth to comes out If this is allowed to continue. Also not that it matters I'll never forgive the politicians in office, and those supposed conservative pundit's that remain silent, or even objective about this lie, ...cowards. Nothing surprises me from the current crop of democrats.
I don't believe there is anything more vicious, and ruthless, than the dedicated hard left. Examples of this are Adolph Hitler, but he paled in comparsion to Stalin, who may have paled in comparsion to Mau Zedung. Or more recently William Ayers, and his very scary wife. They didn't actually carry out the mass murders, but that was the intention. They did murder some however. Right now most of our News Media is either knowingly or unknowingly supporting the hard left, I suspect most know it, and are part of it. Some are just not very smart I guess.
"Welcome to the world of double speak" I guess I should get use to it.
