Couric Advises Gov. Palin to 'Learn About Governing'...Seriously!

Photo of Noel Sheppard.

In today's Pot Calling the Kettle Black moment, CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric advises Sarah Palin to "keep her head down, work really hard and learn about governing."

When you stop laughing, consider that I'm not kidding.

Really. I'm not.

Here's what Couric told the New York Post's Richard Johnson at Glamour Magazine's 2008 Women of the Year Awards Monday (file photo):

I think she should keep her head down, work really hard and learn about governing. But I'm not anyone to give advice to anyone about anything.

Interesting how people that seem to understand their own limitations -- "I'm not anyone to give advice to anyone about anything" -- choose to publicly render opinions anyway.

When asked about her infamous interview with the Alaska governor and its impact, Couric said:

I was really just a conduit that allowed her to air her views...I don't want to judge. I'll let the voters do that.

Yeah...she doesn't want to judge. Anybody interested in buying a bridge?

WTH

does Katie know about governing? Is this suppose to be some kind of sage advise from another old pro? If Katie were paid commensurate to her talents she would be washing sausage casings at Hormel for a living.

Couric Excels on One Key Measure

Courics ratio of egotism to intelligence is the highest in the industry.

I think Couric

Should keep her head down and learn about journalism. Well, I'm guessing she has been keeping her head DOWN for quite a while now in order to get where she is, IYKWIM. ;>0

RESTLESS... Thanks, you

RESTLESS...

Thanks, you beat me to the punch with this..."Should keep her head down and learn about journalism."

I would love to Katie run a state like Alaska. Actually, no I don't. I have a lot of respect for Alaskans and would never wish this upon them.

LOL....Oh isn't this

LOL....Oh isn't this just special?

Whiz-bang for ratings is at it again...she did her part...she get's to stay for another two years.

Sarah, study media hatchet jobs

Sarah Palin already knows more about governing than the next President of the United States.

If I had one piece of advice for Gov. Palin, I'd study the way media hatchet jobs are done and learn to get your message out by any means necessary.

Welcome to the era of unity, you racist!

how to begin

And she can begin by completely bypassing them altogether.

Chesterton, Orthodoxy

She knows more about

She knows more about journalism than most of the blowhards on the air and papers as well.

"Forget change, I want improvement!"

Audacity

There is audacity right there. She is already a Governor of one of our 57 states.

Couric needs to learn about anchoring. No, not a network news position. Anchoring a boat. She needs to practice holding her breath and hanging on to seaweed.

That is about all she is qualified to do.

Sincerely,

no way!

Really? Why would she take that cut in pay?

Are these liberals full of themselves or what???

Now, now, Katie...

Palin could do better on

Palin could do better on Couric's job than Couric can.

Couric couldn't govern a daycare.

Katie a judge?

Couric makes her living judging. She sure isn't a journalist!

I'm always fascinated by

I'm always fascinated by these left-wing cement-dwelling self-centered snobs who's only talent is reading something someone else wrote for them (except for Couric who can read while simultaneously admiring her own tits and legs) put down republican idiots like one who can fly a jet fighter, owned a major league baseball team, served as governor of one of the largest states twice, served as the leader of the free world twice, slaughtered the best and brightest the dem's had to offer in debates and not once groped/raped the hired help in our house, then turn on a bright, young, classy lady who governs the largest and one of the most important states, almost saved our country from electing a marxist, destroyed 'Plugs Biden' in a debate, all at an age Couric hasn't seen for many, many moons.

captain repus

Dude, you ROCK.

In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.

One part of that was right

When Katie said, "But I'm not anyone to give advice to anyone about anything," that part at least was correct. An anchor whose ratings have continued to nose-dive is going to give a successful governor suggestions for improvement? That really is a scream!

Forget Politics

Liberal, elite media snobs.  Gosh how I despise them.  I've got a great idea.  Mssssss Couric is such a dynamic anchor of such a successful network news division, that absolutely no one is watching these days.  Can you imagine what would happen to the ratings at CBS Evening News if they were to offer Sarah Palin Katie Couric's job!  Wow, now that we be a coup!  The ratings would blow the top off the chimney.  I'd love it.  Katie Couric out of a job.  Maybe she could run for public orifice, I mean office.

2%

2% of the country watches Couric's show.

Couric More Qualified To Be Plumber

Look out Joe, seems Katie is coming for your job.  Nobody knows more about being in the toilet than Katie.  She has taken a network that once ruled over all others in the news industry and pulled it right down the sh*tter.  So thorough was she in decimating CBS news that she is now giving advice.  Surprised the Obamunist doesn't reward her for her cheerleading although that might be perceived as a slight to Chrissy Matthews, Keith Olberman, Brian Williams, Andrea Mitchell, or Charlie Gibson who all jockied for "captain" of the cheerleading squad.  Journalists, what are those and when was the last time one of them was seen?  I thought they were extinct....

Winston Churchill ~ "Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy."

I think she should keep her

I think she should keep her head down, work really hard and learn about
governing. But I'm not anyone to give advice to anyone about anything.

Really, Katie, then why did you???

Noel

About the caricature of Katie for the "a little annoying article". That is the most accurate, revealing, appropriate description I have ever seen. Please give my compliments to whoever drew it. I hope there are many more in the future.

couric the all-knowing advice giver

to Tony Dungy: "You should learn about coaching football."

to Donald Trump: "You should learn about making money."

to Joe the Plumber: "You should learn about unclogging a sink (and to not ask stupid questions we the media have already decided to not ask)."

Though I suppose such a comment makes her something like a Monday morning quarterback, and about as credible.

Advice For The Perky One

I think Katie should keep her head down, work really hard and learn about news reporting.  Maybe then her ratings will move ABOVE those of Keith Overbite and Rick Maddow show repeats on MSNBC.

There are days I wish I was

There are days I wish I was retired and able to fly to New York and stake out the newsoffices of her network.  When able, I would approach Ms Couric with a camera as she is walking to her limo and begin peppering her with questions like:

1.)  Katie, are we at war with Islamo Fascists?

2.)  Katie, what is the stategic center of gravity of the current war on islamo fascist terror?

When she fails to provide an answer (or I am hauled off by the network security which is more likely) at least she will know what it feels like to play "Stump the chump" on the receiving end.

I think it would be instructive to create a montage of various MSM reporters being asked that question and viewing the responses.  After all, they serve as the gatekeepers to information, it would be useful to see how bright and informed our gatekeepers truly are.

3.)

What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

European or African?

European or African?

"Her Perkiness" is just a

"Her Perkiness" is just a reflection on the average American.

And no, that is not a good thing.

Only in a nation filled with idiots would someone find a clueless bimbette like Couric, place her behind a desk in a New York TV studio, and pay her millions.

-Dave

Did this country just elect Obama/Biden, or was it Soros/Ayers?

I'm not worried about Sarah.

She reminds me of the mother in a story I heard recently. A mother bought a great dress for her daughter's wedding, then found out her ex's new wife was going to wear the same dress. She and her daughter bought another desss. The daughter asked "Why don't you return the other dress? When can you ever wear it?" Mom said "I'm wearing that one to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding".

LOL!  You got that right!

LOL!  You got that right!

Good morning Seashell

Marriage taught me never try to duel with a woman. In the world of sarcasm, insults, criticism and put-downs women cannot be equalled. I beiieve Sarah is one of the best there is, but she has yet to unleash her superiority. When it comes poor Couric will be unarmed.

Good morning coco! but

Good morning coco!

but she has yet to unleash her superiority

I think that is so true.  Now that she is out from under the control of the McCain  campaign she will put Couric in her place.  I for one am looking forward to it.

Lessons to be Learned

Gee. The anchor of the lowest-rated newscast in America is advising one of the most popular and successful governor's of one of the largest states how to do her job. Isn't that special! No one knows how to do her job better than Katie. Since she took over the CBS Evening News, its ratings have fallen, it's mired in third place behind NBC and ABC, and shows no signs of improvement. Yes, that's certainly a good source of advice on how to do one's job. What a twit!

Couric should listen to other's advice as well...

Couric has nothing to talk about.  She should have listened to all those who must have been telling her to just stick with the Today show.  Ever since replacing Bob Schieffer, she has only plummeted CBS News ratings.

So to Couric, "keep your head down, work really hard and learn about reporting."

Funny advice coming from a

Funny advice coming from a lady whose ratings have been tanking ever since she was hired. It's easy for Couric to say she doesn't want to judge, now that her man has been elected. I think she'd have a much different opinion if Palin were sitting in the VP seat.

Kinky Friedman, who lives up

Kinky Friedman, who lives up the highway from me, had a good point last night on Bill O'Reilly. He said that the problem is that Sarah Palin keeps getting trashed because women will not stand up for another woman if that woman is pro-life. He's absolutely right.

I am pro-life, and am a single Mom who works her A$$ off and is very independant. It doesn't matter. I get trashed by other women because I'm pro-life. To them, I'm a religious zealot. I don't even go to Mass every Sunday....

Take it from a woman....Women are viscious.

Marpel

Take it from a woman....Women are viscious.

You got that right.  And it starts in youth.  My teenage daughter was recently the object of this "visciousness".  Sadly, many women don't grow out of it.  It just develops into something more hateful, and they should know better.

My Favorite Quote about the MSM fairness

“I know a lot of you believe that most people in the news business are liberal.

Let me tell you, I know a lot of them, and they were almost evenly divided this time.

Half of them liked Senator Kerry; the other half hated President Bush.”
— CBS’s Andy Rooney on the November 7, 2004 60 Minutes.

The Truth About the MSM

John Swinton, former chief of staff, New York Times, when called upon to give a toast before the New York Press Club (1953) said this:

"There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know it would never appear in print.

I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out in the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before 24 hours my occupation would be gone.

The business of the journalist is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell his country and his race for his daily bread.

You know it and I know it, so what folly is this toasting an independent press. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings, we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes"

I sure hope

We can get the fairness doctrine. Equal time on perky Katie's bombo laff show at CBS would be a huge improvement and a ratings boost as well.

Elitist Katie

Katie knows everything and presumes to tell Sarah about governance. I'd like to see Katie as mayor of a city or governor as a state. I'll bet that Sarah could show Katie a thing or two about governance that Katie hasn't a clue about today.

"Take it from a

"Take it from a woman....Women are viscious."

I agree wholeheartedly. I've worked with some really good women over the years, but I'd rather work in an office full of men than women. Less backstabbing and pettiness.

Couric

Disgusting individual.

What arrogance is this going to go on for 4 years. Now Couric will allow Palin to benifit from her vast experience what a joke. The Main News presenters, can get away with, because to many people in our country are uninformed, and more importantly uninterested, in facts and history, and perfectly happy to remain so.

I read somewhere that Soros planned to spend millions to ensure the destruction of Bush's legacy, and our wonderful democratic party is happily going along with that if their intention to investigate his administration is true. It will be 50 years before the truth to comes out If this is allowed to continue. Also not that it matters I'll never forgive the politicians in office, and those supposed conservative pundit's that remain silent, or even objective about this lie, ...cowards. Nothing surprises me from the current crop of democrats.

I don't believe there is anything more vicious, and ruthless, than the dedicated hard left. Examples of this are Adolph Hitler, but he paled in comparsion to Stalin, who may have paled in comparsion to Mau Zedung. Or more recently William Ayers, and his very scary wife. They didn't actually carry out the mass murders, but that was the intention. They did murder some however. Right now most of our News Media is either knowingly or unknowingly supporting the hard left, I suspect most know it, and are part of it. Some are just not very smart I guess.

"Welcome to the world of double speak" I guess I should get use to it.

...you mean Obama, right!....

Obama has far less experience than Palin - what Katie said, was a sexist comment...............

Norbit II

I heard they were making a white version of the movie Norbit and needed someone to play the white Rasputia.  I smell a hollywood career for Katie coming.  Where perky merges with pudgy.

Winston Churchill ~ "Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy."

Actually, Couric has offered good advice: She just needed to say this about OBAMA!!  Seriously.  Katie?? Time to step up to 'the big girls table'!
