Truth Leaks Begin: Emanuel Was Director of Freddie Mac

Now that Barack Obama has won his bid for the White House, Americans should get ready to learn some inconvenient truths about him and the folks surrounding the president-elect that media have safely hidden from the public in order to promote his messiah-like image.

First out of the gate were revelations about Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.), the Obama supporter and Congressional Democratic Caucus chairman Obama has tapped to be his Chief of Staff (please see my colleague Jeff Poor's November 6 report on this subject).

On Friday, ABC's Brian Ross reported that Emanuel was on the Board of Directors of the failed financial institution Freddie Mac, a nice little tidbit conservatives on radio and in the blogosphere felt was important during this campaign, but for the most part mainstream media outlets didn't care about...conveniently until now (emphasis added, photo courtesy ABCNews.com):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

President-elect Barack Obama's newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot "red flags," according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.

According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.

Emanuel was not named in the SEC complaint (click here to read) but the entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) (click here to read) of having "failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention." [...]

The actions by Freddie Mac are cited by some economists as the beginning of the country's economic meltdown.

The federal government this year was forced to take over Freddie Mac and a sister federal mortgage agency, Fannie Mae, pledging at least $200 billion in public funds. [...]

During the years 2000, 2001 and 2002, according to the SEC, Freddie Mac substantially misrepresented its income to "present investors with the image of a company that would continue to generate predictable and growing earnings."

Hmmm. So, "The actions by Freddie Mac are cited by some economists as the beginning of the country's economic meltdown." And "Freddie Mac substantially misrepresented its income to 'present investors with the image of a company that would continue to generate predictable and growing earnings'" while Rahm Emanuel, a leading figure in the Democrat Party who's supported Obama throughout his presidential campaign, was on the Board of Directors.

And this is suddenly newsworthy NOW?

Hmmm. Maybe next media members will report how Obama was the second-leading political recipient of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac contributions since 1989 even though he's only been in Congress since 2005.

After all, now such a revelation won't hurt him, although it certainly would have if fully disclosed by Obama-loving press members as the financial crisis came to a head in mid-September.

Just imagine how differently things might have gone Tuesday if voters would have been completely apprised of Obama and his surrogate's connections to the government sponsored enterprises so responsible for the collapse of the banking and lending industries.

As readers are likely aware, NewsBusters has for months made the case that if Americans knew just how tied to this crisis Democrats were, McCain would have easily won the White House, and the picture in both chambers of Congress would also be much different.

Alas, the media were having none of that, and nicely hid the truth from a public mysteriously not interested in it anyway.

In the end, it seems a metaphysical certitude that in the months to come, America's disgraceful media will begin to report things about Obama and his team that could have had a HUGE impact on the campaign if revealed months ago.

I guess this is their way of soothing their guilty consciences, assuming any of these folks possess such a thing.

And now it's being reported

And now it's being reported NOW by the MSM?

What a feeble attempt to appear responsible.

Get ready for more unsavory revelations, as they shove them in our faces and brag:

Nyah, Nyah, here's another  chunk of sludge we  hid from you before!!

Anyone who voted Republican

Anyone who voted Republican knew about Emmanuel's Freddie Mac appointment and how much money BO received from the agency. But, if anyone tried to mention it in public, we were labeled as hate mongers and racists...

Go figure...

Surpisingly

The wife went to the local grocery store, you are dead right, they all knew what was going on. Near zero of them watch TV.

And, of course there's more

And, of course there's more that will never come out. Unless BO fires someone. Someone is bound to turn "Scott McClellan" on Barack someday....LMAO

And now it's safe to let

And now it's safe to let this stuff out.

Do you think anyone would demand Emanuel step down?

<Chris Matthews face>: HAH!

Too late to do anything about it.

Also too late for them to try to salvage any scraps of credibility.

Legitimate Journalism In The MSM Is Dead

The MSM has pretty much lost any shred of credibility it may have had left because of its open advocacy of the Obamessiah.

What we have to be prepared for is the coming assault on free speech. It will, of course, be couched in misdirecting terms like Employee Free Choice Act which actually takes away the secret ballot.

Also, all of those campaign contributors will be demanding their rewards for their financial support of the Chosen One. Why the heck do you think their opening up their arms to the lobbyists?

Go get 'em, Noel!

I have a feeling there will be more.

It's too late now.

It's too late now.

It's Never Too Late

All we need do is consider how the Clinton 2nd term was pretty much derailed by the impeachment proceedings.

Legitimate journalists, ones whose judgment is not clouded by ideology to keep on pulling the strings that are already dangling. Strings such as campaign contributors and the campaign promises that are being broken.

Also, keep asking hard questions like how increasing taxes in a wobbly economy won't repeat the mistakes of the Roosevelt Administrations of the 1930s. With more economists now agreeing that Roosevelt's New Deal actually unnecessarily prolonged the economic hardships of the times, reporters can legitimately ask such questions of the President-elect.

I heard an ABC radio report

I heard an ABC radio report last night on my way home from work regarding Emanuel and the fact that he "served" on the board of directors was provided as sort of an after thought at the tail end of the report. Had this been a Republican choice...we don't even have to wonder what the press would be doing right now...we know what they'd be doing.

NORTH OR SOUTH

So...do you think the Russians will come across the border through Canada or Mexico ?

I would rather be a Conservative nut job, than a Liberal with no nuts and no job

"F" Troop

Probably Canada. Mexico has a better military.

I think you are

I think you are right...Canada...yep, definitely Canada. What with all the ice accumulating across the northern reaches right now, they'll be able to walk here from there.

Good morning brad

Don't underestimate global warming, it will return come spring and will increase come summer.

Miller, I don't know what's

Miller, I don't know what's funnier...your question about the Russians or the saying underneath that.... LMAO!!!!

THANKS

I can't take credit for my tagline....saw it on a t-shirt.  Might change it to "Obama - where's MY welfare check?"  We should have seen it coming...we have turned into a nation of hand-holders, called racists, affirmative action, every cause/disability has a fund raiser, self-responsibility is out the door, "work" is a dirty word...easier to sit and whine about a "disability", pro sports players make gazillion dollars, teachers talking about their significant other, soccer moms taking their child to the emergency room for a scratch on their finger, fat kids, on and on ........

I would rather be a Conservative nut job, than a Liberal with no nuts and no job

Agreed...I tried raising my

Agreed...I tried raising my kid the old way.  I was successful in doing about half right.  He's just got laid off and is too proud to file for unemployment....go figure that one.

I wonder what he's going to think when I quit my job and start collecting my free checks from Barack's money tree.

If he is feeling a measure of pride...

...you have succeeded. He will no doubt find work quickly. Well done.

Nevertheless, advise him "unemployment" is an insurance program. Government mandated at that. His employer made premium payments on his behalf. He should not disregard the fact he is entitled, legitimately, to benefits under the program.

Thank you. Even though he

Thank you. Even though he won't file unemployment because he thinks it's welfare, I am tremendously proud of my boy. I was widowed at an early age and it was tough raising him to be the great man he's grown to be. You can see his good work on Jurassic Fight Club on the History channel. He was on the animation team and did all the matte paintings for the last episode called "Armageddon".

Press misrepresentation aside, Canadians have guns

They may make a big talk of not being gun totin' individualists, but government propaganda aside, there are a whole lot of Canadians who own bigger and more guns than most Americans. Lots of open space that the liberal government cant control. I know three Canadians, two own "assault" rifles that I can't even buy permits for in California. bunch of rugged hard @ssed hunters up there, guys who know what bear meat is supposed to taste like (eew!) and are individualist enough to make it very difficult to tell the difference between a Canadian and an Alaskan or Montanan (Montanian?). One just says "eh!" a lot more and the others don't get to drink really good beer often.

Mexico can't organize itself since most of it's military works to protect drug cartels or set up growing sites here in California. the rest is considered "private security" for high placed rich (government) Spanish descended government officials.

So when the media finally

So when the media finally does do its job (I for one am not holding my breath), do you think the good people of America will do the right thing and burn these "journalists" at the stake (figuratively speaking)? Some how I don't see that happening. Socialists and their sycophant propaganda machines are hard things to undo...witness Russia, Europe, China and America for the past 60 years.

Tip Of the iceberg

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Too little, too late. But as we Americans sit and view images of the manchild going to the gym as the world falls apart, at least we know the biggest culprit in the demise of this nation---the once "free" press which has been nationalized by the DNC. I, for one, will never forgive them for stomping on the First Amendment by relinquishing their Constituional responsibility to seek the truth and keep us free. Disgusting, "elite", "liberal" s.o b.'s.

P.S. I must also express my outrage at Mr.Nice Guy, John McCain. His lack of fervor and refusal to get angry in this campaign allowed for this to happen. Sad.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Just imagine what America

Just imagine what America would have been like if our founding fathers fought against oppression the way John McCain did. He's been trying to get along with these anti-American leftists for years. The only thing he did right is Sarah Palin and now it seems that the moderate betrayers (a.k.a. McCain and his ilk) in the Republican party want to throw her under the bus. She was the only thing this ticket had going for it. The Republican party needs to return to its conservative roots, forget about trying to get along with the socialists, and realize that we are in an ideological war...a war that won't be won by trying to be nice to the opposition. This is not about a "Contract with America" any longer...it is a war against socialism and the forces that would undo our Republic.

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31

Bradbenj

You've hit the mark, Brad. This is an ideological war and the "moderates" (RINOS) don't get it. Perhaps they never will. Look what is happening in Minnesota. All of a sudden Franken's (and Barry's) thugs have found a 100 vote "mistake" in order to shrink Coleman's lead. And if they steal it there, the RINOS will do nothing---Nothing!! I'm so sick of not being "represented" by those for whom I vote. Where is McCain now, as they pummel Sarah Palin? He's probably somewhere trying to "get along" with the enemy within and that "honorable family man", Barry H. So many of the American issues that matter are now going to be ignored, "my friends".  Sad.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

I'm just waiting for Obama

I'm just waiting for Obama to appoint his good friend Ayers to head the Department of (re)Education.  If that happens, I'll go back to being an electrician.

My new Mantra

WHERE'S THE CHANGE????????

And Rahm pays no property tax

He also pays no property tax on his Chicago IL mansion.

Drill here, Drill Now!

You mean a product of the

You mean a product of the Chicago political machine has given another Chicago buddy a high-level political post???

Now that's change we can believe in!

Or just the same sh** we've seen before.

Yet more Stupid Media Tricks

The MSM has been so deceitful during this election season, using every trick in the book to destroy McCain/Palin (and Mrs. Clinton during the primaries) and to elevate "The One" to the level of godhood.  Hiding any bad news about him until after the election is a classic stupid media trick.  They did this with Bill Clinton, too - they hid his dirty laundry until it was too late.

Another stupid media trick that worked to perfection was harping on any and all bad economic news possible and making the economy the sole issue in the campaign.  This worked in getting Mr. Clinton elected, too.   Blaming Mr. Bush and the Republicans  entirely for the economic mess worked as well.   We know that Democrats were just as guilty, but they, as usual, skated.  The MSM is just the house organ of the Democratic Party, so no blame ever gets placed on the "donkey house".

Obama supporters don't care

Obama could put Charlie Manson in his cabinet and people will not care. He is Obama and can do whatever he wants. We need to give him a chance. Us nasty Republicans are just whining about losing the election and need to come together with the Messiah to "change" this country.

I hope

thats sarcasm.....otherwise you are an a$$hole my friend.

I would rather be a Conservative nut job, than a Liberal with no nuts and no job

Come Together, Right Now, Over Me

Us nasty Republicans are just whining about losing the election and need to come together with the Messiah to "change" this country.

As I told my Obamaniac brother: I am willing to give Barry O'Bama a chance, but I'm also going to give him a really short leash. I am one of those bitter clingers to guns and religion, and I'll be damned if I let him get away with trying to take away either one. He's got a lot of good will going for him right now, but buyer's remorse has been setting in since Tuesday night even among his sycophants. He's going to get a chance from me to prove that he's not the marxist leftist that his resume, biographies, and acquaintances indicate, that he can be a uniter, that he can govern from the center. But once he starts spinning down into Marxist territory, all trust and goodwill will be gone.

Appointment of Emanuel

I heard through a Chicago source that Emanuel will do all he can to take out the Nukes in Iran.  If so, is the MSM so stupid not to connect the dots?  A valid rumor?  I thought O said he would sit down with Iran.....the bar continues to be lowered by O.

"Obamas last day 1-20-2013"

He is also known as

He is also known as "Rahm-bo", the Great Fellated BJ Clinton's hatchet man.  Now he gets to play "bad cop" to Obama's "good cop" persona.  He gets the last word out on appointees by Obama and he gets to play "mean and nasty" with the Repubs.  An attack bulldog without the lipstick.

Now that Barack Obama has

Now that Barack Obama has won his bid for the White House, Americans should get ready to learn some inconvenient truths about him and the folks surrounding the president-elect that media have safely hidden from the public in order to promote his messiah-like image.

Obama, along with his Public Relations Staff-the MEDIA- conveniently lied (to get the votes) for the entire campaign.

WHAT CHANGE?  WHERE is the Change?

It may be a done deal...

Any unbiased examination of Fannie/Freddie by the Justice Dept. is going to be non-existent. The Dems like Chris Dodd, Barney Frank specifically, Franklin Raines, et al...they are going to get away with destroying the economy. Maybe Oliver Stone may do a movie about them!

www.ArmchairEnergist...

Don't worry though

Pelosi already said she was putting Barney Frank in charge of the investigation into the housing crisis....so we can rest assured Barney will dig into the Fannie/Freddie mess and point the finger at himself and Dodd and others....yeah right.  It's so sad that no one is being held accountable for this mess, except Bush.

Who me?????

This was predictable, allowing scoundrels to take over the government and then they faint disbelief that there's an underlying reason that the economy fell apart and their own complicity. Yeah, they'll be the Senate and House hearings to figure out who's responsible, kangaroo courts that are headed by people like Henry Waxman, Barney Frank, Chuck Shumer and the like, with no intention of getting to the facts. This is a top-down affair, just look at who head the committees, who's the President-elect, there's your culprits.

I say take those in congress who claimed that there was no problem, and no threat of failure in Fred & Fannie, take those jerks one dark night and round'em up, strip'em naked, drug'em, load them on a plane and drop them somewhere desolate, dressed only in a loin cloth with a note that reads, "this your congressional recess, have fun."

cast of characters??

do yourself the awesome task of writing down all these nefarious cast of characters BHO has surrounded himself with. looks like the posters in the post office. most should be in prison, how do they pass the FBI security background check?? how does the MSM let this not be told.

Fox guarding the hen house.

 allow me to Love America

Would anybody know

What the Freddie Mac board's responsibilities actually were?  Would they have been the ones to set policy?

Who would have made the decision, or decisions, that led to the granting of loans to people who obviously couldn't pay them back?

Rahm , the Democrats and Freddie&Fannie

So now it's beginning to leak out.  Next the "cult" of BHO magazine, Newweek will do a story on the Marxist social and economic underpinnings of Black Liberation Theology, that BHO listened to and studied for 20 years plus. We'll hear about the need to transition to democratic socialism from what's left of market capitalism inorder to eliminate racism. Marxists never quit.  They don't always win, but they never quuit.  They believe history is on their side.

Who cares half of mccain's campaign staff was involved in Fred

When mortgage giant Freddie Mac feared several years ago that Sen. John McCain was too outspoken on the issue of executive pay, it pinpointed a lobbyist known for his closeness to McCain and hired him to work with the senator.

Mark Buse, a longtime McCain adviser who had been staff director of the Senate commerce committee, signed on as a Freddie Mac lobbyist, and his firm, ML Strategies, earned $460,000 in lobbying fees in late 2003 and 2004, according to lobbying disclosures. Buse is now chief of staff at McCain's Senate office.

It's only getting worse for John McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis. Following the news that Davis was paid $2 million over five years as president of an advocacy group set up by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the New York Times now reports that Freddie Mac paid Davis's lobbying firm $15,000 a month up until last month. The firm was kept on the payroll because of Davis's close ties to McCain. The news comes after McCain insisted that Davis has had no involvement with Freddie Mac for several years, leading progressive thinkers to wonder whether McCain lied to Americans or whether Davis lied to McCain.
