For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: poll insanity.
In the past two weeks, the polls have been all over the place virtually changing every day. What does this tell us? With the speed of information transfer, and a large percentage of Americans no longer possessing landlines in their homes, do surveys of one or two thousand folks in a 300 million population country mean anything?
What are your thoughts with two days to go NBers?

November 2, 2008 - 11:13 ET by FoolicanI have no idea how the polling system works, but let me make this observation:
If the polls are completely randomized as they claim, then the election is over and Obama's won.
However, if the polls are merely focused on the densest areas in the country (i.e. Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles), then they are not an accurate reflection of the population. Conservatives are not the big-city type, and this election could be close.

If you run into an obstinate liberal, you can teach him this ancient Tibetan chant, which has been known to provide enlightenment to the liberal mind. It is a very simple chant, consisting of 3 words:
First word: Owah
Second word: Tana
Last word: Siam
Now, if the liberal chants this over and over, enlightenment will soon follow.

November 2, 2008 - 11:40 ET by ricklailLast week I posted the story about one of our former county comnmmisioners who took a coffin to a polling place with "Joe the Plumber Taxed to death on it." According to the Board of Elections there was nothing wrong with as long as he stayed in the area where politicng is allowed. Friday he stuck a NOBAMA sticker on the coffin. ( Link to the story.)The local NAALCP went ballistic. He still has not broken any laws but our sherriff, a Democrat, takes the coffin. The NAALCP is threatening charges when no law has been broken. This is a case of stiffling free speech. After the election you will probably here no more about it.

Nobama
November 2, 2008 - 13:20 ET by kilrodI don't know who Mark Gregg is but this is too well written NOT to pass along!
Dear Mr. Obama,
It is August 30, 2008. My name is Mark Gregg. I am a 50 something conservative white male. I have followed your campaign closely, including the speeches you and others made at the democratic national convention. I am respectfully providing you with seven simple (probably shallow) reasons why I could never vote for you. I believe my opinion is shared by many people. While there may not be quite enough to prevent you from becoming president of this nation, I do think there is an awakening to the fact that you are not a (the) messiah that the media and liberal Hollywood entertainers are trying to portray you.
1. I hear your mantra of change, change, change. Yet, you picked a long term, liberal, Washington insider (Joe Biden) to be your running mate. This is NOT change. It is a move that hypocritically refutes the very thing you supposedly stand for. Your campaign then slammed McCain for picking Sarah Palin, apparently, because she is NOT a Washington insider. She is a maverick who cleaned-up Alaska 's quagmire of political scandals. Which way is it, Barack? Is it okay for you to pick a Washington insider under the mantra of 'change', but not okay for John McCain to pick a smart, aggressive, reformer?
2. You have the single most liberal voting record in the senate. This indicates to me and others like me that you may very well be an angry black man seeking to punish our country for sins of a different generation. I am not racist. I have some biases just like you and every other human alive. Unlike the democratic party who claims to be for the minority (but their record heavily refutes this), I will give any person who truly needs help, help. I married a 'minority' girl 35 years ago (she is Hispanic) and have seen the evils of prejudice first hand. However, I have also seen my wife and my children and others in her family throw off the veil of self imposed prejudicial bondage and move ahead. They love our country and do not view themselves any different than I view myself as a citizen of this country. Your lovely wife so disappointed people like me during this campaign when she stated it was the first time she had ever been proud of this country. She apparently never noticed the massive aid we give dozens of other countries. She apparently never noticed the sacrifice of literally millions of veterans who helped make this country a free nation and helped liberate other nations from brutal dictators such as Adolf Hitler. She apparently does not remember that she attended ivy league universities with scholarship money that ultimately (at least some of it) was paid for by our taxes. This troubles me more than you know. She is an angry black woman who appears to not like her country very much. I don't want her representing me to the rest of the world.
3. You claim Christianity but apparently do not realize that the Bible teaches that he who does not work, does not eat. The Bible does not say or even suggest that he who CANNOT work, should not eat. Yet, your liberal policies reward people who are capable of working, but choose to not do so. This bothers me. I know that if you are elected our taxes will spiral upwards. You should heed the words of Winston Churchill: 'We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.' If I like anything about you, it is your campaign promise to balance the federal budget. Unfortunately, we have heard this a huge number of times from a number of different politicians and we realize that when you energize the very liberal Nancy Pelosi, Robert Byrd, Ted Kennedy, etc, etc, and the many other democrats like them, a balanced budget will never, ever happen on
your watch.
4. During your question and answer session with Rick Warren of Saddleback Church your answer concerning the question of where does life begin, stunned me: 'Above your pay grade?' Does this mean when something bad happens as President of this nation that you are going to look at your salary to determine if you can respond? I am sorry, but this was the most serious gaffe I have seen you make. Frankly, it shows me that you are pandering in the most obvious manner. You will choose your words not from your heart, but from an agenda that I believe is still hidden from the American people.
5. If anything stands out about you it is probably your appeasement mentality. In this era of rampant, radical Islamic extremism and with the latest stunt pulled by the re-energized Russian government, I am not sure appeasement is healthy. I again revert to the words of Winston Churchill: 'An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.'
6. You and your party tacitly believe that a 13 or 14 year old girl must have the parents approval to have the school nurse provide them with a Tylenol when they have a headache at school. Yet, this same girl can become pregnant and the school can skirt her off to a clinic and abort the child in her body without the parents knowing or being notified. This scares the hell out of me. You have two little girls. Would you be upset if this happened to them and you were not informed? Then why do you stand for this? It makes no sense to me.
7. My seventh and final point (for now) is your supporters. I have watched the Hollywood entertainers that support you, systematically embrace Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and others like him. I see the continuous smut and garbage produced by Hollywood , the very people who promote you the most vigorously. It is not a positive point to me and others like me to see these over-paid, bizarre, poor examples of human existence fawn over you and push you and your liberal agenda as hard as they do. The way I see it; When the devil is for you, we should question whether or not we should be against you.
In closing, I just want you to know that you scare me. I cannot vote for you. It is not because of your skin color. It is because these items I've listed and many, many others like them. Do not claim that my dislike for you is race based. It is because I do not feel you have the best interests of this nation at heart.
Respectfully,
Mark A. Gregg

November 2, 2008 - 13:29 ET by MidAmericaSeems the polls always 'tighten' around the election time and that gives the pollsters a way to claim they were right on it no matter which way the election goes. 'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!
I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.
When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys
They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!
He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink
He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!
"On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi"
He screamed at the pairs!
They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!
So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

November 2, 2008 - 14:09 ET by maggieqpublicMost colleges have been teaching ‘leftism’ since the late 1960’s, and the students generally reflect that bias. However, a good many Dem liberals come to their senses when they go out into the real world…. get a job, start a business, raise a family. But some are lazy, like me, and don’t bother to change party registration.
So, my question…. Are the absentee ballots my husband and I mailed assumed to be Dem votes because we are registered Dems?
My argument is this… The 20-year-old liberal is likely to become more conservative as he/she ages. The 20-year-old conservative is not so likely to become more liberal as he/she ages. There are conservative registered Democrats in the political mix. Do the polls accurately reflect this?
Do the polls accurately reflect the voter who may hesitate to tell a pollster (including those who take exit polls) that he/she will not vote for Obama or did not vote for Obama? Just ask Joe The Plumber… it only takes a simple question to elicit a rabid response.
A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by the Obama campaign… the caller said, “I hear you want to become more involved in the Obama campaign.” I said, “Who told you that?” He said, “Uh, uh, uh, actually that’s the script.” I told him that I was not interested and that I was a very busy person. Even then he wanted me to make telephone calls to Battleground States or get involved in their database operation. I did NOT tell him that Obama would never get my vote. After all, this is a campaign that asked for me by name on my unlisted telephone number, and they know my email and home addresses…. I wasn’t about to pass along my personal views to a member of the cult campaign.

The Real Poll Average
November 2, 2008 - 14:26 ET by JoelCTUPDATED FOR TODAY'S OPEN THREAD
We are always hearing about the "Real Clear Politics Average" of the election polls. It is a nice way to take all the polls and determine how close the election actually is.
There are three biased polls that I feel do not belong in the average. After all, averages of a small amount of samples can be skewed badly by just one or two deviations, which are usually excluded from most averaging calculations.
The first is any poll by CBS news. Their methodology has always been suspect; they usually have a very small sampling weighted heavily towards Democrats. Their last two polls had Obama winning by 13 and 14 percent, respectively. Everyone knows the race is much closer than that.
The second is Newsweek and/or ABC News, for the same reason as CBS. Their last two polls had Obama winning by 12 and 11 percent, respectively.
The last is the new Gallup "Expanded" poll. The traditional poll was good enough for the last 50 years, why did they feel it was important to suddenly include groups who never vote, just for this election? The "Expanded" poll heavily favors Obama, which is the reason I felt it was biased and needed to be excluded.
So here is the real RCP Average, as of this morning, 11/02/08. I have included what I call a "wedged" Margin Of Error, which I feel reflects the FACT that polls have historically shown a fake lean towards the Democrat in Presidential races. All I did was subtract the Margin Of Error from the Democrat, and add it to the Republican.
Poll Date Sample MoE Obama McCain Spread
CNN/Opinion Research 10/30 - 11/01 714 LV 3.5 53 46 Obama +7
Rasmussen Reports 10/30 - 11/01 3000 LV 2.0 51 46 Obama +5
Gallup (Traditional) 10/30 - 11/01 2503 LV 2.0 51 43 Obama +8
Diageo/Hotline 10/30 - 11/01 882 LV 3.6 50 45 Obama +5
Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby 10/30 - 11/01 1201 LV 2.9 50 44 Obama +6

Wedged Margin Of Error 46.62 47.71 McCain +1.09
Still believe it's going to be a blowout?
Update 2: Someone asked me last time to show the ones I excluded. Here they are:
Gallup (Expanded) 10/30 - 11/01 2475 LV 2 52 43 Obama +9
CBS News 10/28 - 10/31 747 LV -- 54 41 Obama +13
ABC News/Wash Post 10/28 - 10/31 1900 LV 2.5 53 44 Obama +9

That can't happen. This is not a banana republic where one President stays in office until things get "sorted out." That's why we have a date certain for certifying elections etc. And the change WILL take place on Jan. 20, 2009!
What shenanigans take place in the meantime is anybody's guess. But it will not be dragged out ad nauseam. The Constitution forbids it.

Thoughts on election
November 2, 2008 - 15:25 ET by TheAssessorI'm worried too. If by God's grace, somehow McCain could have a blowout .. that would keep the critics down. Still there will be riots anyway. That's the whole problem with this race. It's all about intimidation. People don't feel safe even talking about voting against Obama. No signs in your yard or on your car or you'll be a target. If he doesn't win it's going to be more violent intimidation. If he does win, God forbid.. he will be the lead bully. Do I think McCain can win? I do. I sense there is a quiet but intimidated vote out there that's larger than anyone thinks. I also feel that PUMA will be a huge factor. They are working very hard for the McCain ticket. The polls are too goofy to be taken seriously. Here in NY where he's almost a shoo in, people are still asking questions about Obama which means they aren't sure. I pray a lot for America these days and while people may have let me down, God never has. I went to dinner Fri night with a couple college students who asked me about all this. I told them which sparked their interest. They had no idea. Today I've been asked to speak to their friends. Who knows. Maybe this is a wake up call here at the very end. Don't know but I'll show up and tell the truth. That's all any of us can do for now. If Obama gets in I'll fight tooth and nail to get him out. I'll never never never give up on this wonderful country.

November 2, 2008 - 15:55 ET by TheAssessorAnother thing that's interesting to me is how McCain seems to know something that we don't. He 'seems' so confident. Maybe that's his need to avoid looking desperate. My judgement could be getting blurry because I want him to win. I watch comments on other sites. Anecdotes are that the silent majority's just fuming. The PUMA folks report that NH is definitly going McCain.. and now here he is, going back to N.H.. I'll tell you one thing for sure. Obama's Ethnic Cleansing
November 2, 2008 - 15:25 ET by Lame CherryNot in the mood for chewing on the cud of polls as I explained the reason behind them sounding like pigs squealing if one polls pigs.
My concern is over Africans about to be wiped out by Barack Hussein Obama.
Obama's Ethnic Cleansing
In
all of the African continent's history, Africa has been a people from
the northern Barbarians who are a peopled cross of old European and
African, the elite Egyptian and the various children of Ham of Biblical
ancestry united to the heel of history.
Except for the short milena
of Egyptian domination, Africa has been a cookie chewed upon by Asians
and Europeans much to the literal enslavement of "Africans".
The
modern carving of Africa began with the Arabian empire settling the
issue of human traffic in which local kingdoms rounded up bush people
for sale as castrated eunuchs to Arabia.
This set up of Arabians
in commerce linked with black African kingdoms set the stage for
Europeans to gain control of the continent for early plunder.
Too
many uniformed leftists have deliberately berated the colonial period,
but Theodore Roosevelt in African Game Trails explained it astutely. In
the 1910 period, Africans of all races in white, brown and black were
graduating from colonial tutoring in how to govern themselves to join
the company of civilized nations.
Make no mistake, Africans of the
1910 period were still sleeping under bushes, had to be made to start
fires to keep warm and their main purpose in life was either being
eaten by crocodiles or lions. There were few advanced peoples like the
Ugandan Kingdom being administered and tutored by the British who were
to set the stage of Africa finally advancing.
Roosevelt expressed
great hope in Africa and noted how much better off American blacks were
even after slavery as Americans were so much more advanced socially and
in education than black Africans of 1910.
The disaster of 2
staged world wars in which European Empire was replaced by European
states who then cut Africans loose due to lack of empire funds, who
were under the indoctrination of Marxist Soviet Union mentors soon
created the plunder of Africa as it was intended by the European elites
who wanted full control of the resources.
The infamous butcher Idi
Amin of Uganda who fed his guests a black Roman Catholic Bishop for
dinner as Amin sat and watched the unknown horror in a festive mood was
but a first of many thugs who have currently gone from Mandela and his
blood coup in South Africa to the Marxist Robert Mugabe were the
plunder phase of the privileged few.
Paul Wolfowitz who was
treated extremely unfairly by the dolts who used "neocon" to include
every person who breathed they disagreed with tried very hard to help
Africans. When he was at the World Bank, he cut off the mass loans to
dictators who were simply stealing the money and then depositing it in
European cartel banks in a massive money laundering scheme, equal to
the food scheme run which shipments of food disappear and are re sold.
Wolfowitz
though was not given one bit of credit by people like Jeff Rense who
continued to harp like Devvy Kidd on all things in the ethnic slur
"neocon". Their work with the European masters assisted in removing
Wolfowitz who was Africa's hope for advancing poor people. The end
result is these people hold full responsibility for the new phase which
is starting to sweep through Africa in the blood is on their hands.
Disabling
John McCain, incorrectly terming Gov. Palin an airhead, gets you an
Obama who will plunder Africa. Blame is on the commentators who tore
down the safety factor and allowed Obama to advance.
As of this
date, this writer is the only one to give credit to Paul Wolfowitz in
his conduct and reveal the real reason he was deposed by Europeans as
Wolfowitz was protecting black Africans.
The stage is now set
though for a new brutality for Africa. For those who think Barack
Obama's meteoric rise was not staged, they only have to review his
communications and work with his cousin Odinga, the Islamocommunist of
Kenya, to understand the rape of Africa coming.
It is beyond
Odinga's ethnic cleansing of Kenya of blacks not called Luo as of the
Obama tribe. It is Odinga is the building block for the rape of Africa.
America
has sought in a proper manner a beachhead in Africa to protect American
interests. I advocated using the British Mandate in commonwealth member
Kenya to allow America to go in and clean out the thug Robert Mugabe
and build that nation to it's former colonial state as breadbasket of
Africa.
From this Republics like America could be seeded all through
Africa creating the prosperous trading partners Queen Victoria and
Theodore Roosevelt envisioned for the west.
What though is being
initiated via Barack Obama is the literal fiefdom states of a resident
puppet allowing Obama financier interests to rape the African continent.
The
Washington Times actually blundered on this in an article about cousin
Odinga. Odinga now a key player in Kenya has been in communication with
Obama for over a year. Obama has been promising a great deal to Kenya
when he steals the American election.
The basic scenario is the Luo
Islamocommunists will overthrow the Kenyan government and it is certain
a religious and ethnic cleansing will be allowed.
At this point
Obama and key Democrats will lament the war and send in 50,000 US
troops. (Remember Obama mandates a new draft of children in America for
civil and military positions. Kenya is one war he is going to be
shipping American children off to die in. Bullet, machete, malaria or
aids, Africa will kill American children, and that is liberal American
children.)
Once Obama has Kenya, comes into play the Washington
Times report that Odinga is calling for the removal by force of Robert
Mugabe in Zimbabwe or Rhodesia, of Cecil Rhodes world empire fame.
The
force will be Americans rolling into Zimbabwe with what is certain to
be a Luo cleansing of that nation in satellite status to Odinga.
Once
Obama in his Zbigniew Brzezinski doctrine gains that foothold of the
breadbasket of Africa, the financiers would have a bridgehead into what
they are really after in the supply route from both Liberian oil and
Somolian land base on the old slave trade routes.
This is why
stunned Darfur freedom fighters do not have an answer for who is
kidnapping and attacking Chinese Communist oil workers in Chad.
The
Islamocommunists of Chad blame the rebels and the freedom fighters
state they are not doing this. Who is doing this is a Brzezinski type
mercenary force. The Chinese communists are a particular frown upon
Brzezinski's brow and he wants them out of Africa and the oil
disruption phase is that first gambit.
To the south Mandela
instituted the communist murderous state of South Africa, so that the
Brzezinki Obama beachhead is in place for plunder.
Bono for all his
good natured malaria work is saving an aids infected victim. No one
notices that the story is aids was spread through dirty needles in
Africa. In noting that, mosquitoes have needles and spread malaria.
Why
is aids not a problem in being spread in America by mosquito
hypodermics just as mosquitoes spread the germ warfare of West Nile.
I
digress, but the point is Africa is dying in mass for a the reason of
Barack Obama is being sent in to take a big bite out of the African
cookie, the same way Soros blew the Jews out of Georgia and the West
Bank as they were competition for the Obama financiers over oil there.
The
frosting on the Obama cookie after Chad in oil annexed is the golden
prize of central Africa in Congo and Zaire. Central Africa is a mineral
richness which a very hungry communist Asia has it's fingers in. As
that region has had machete wars since 1986, that is stated is always
based upon tribal warfare in the BBC reports, one can be certain the
real warfare just like all through Africa are different Marxist
factions out of Europe and Asia ripping to shreds Africa for it's
natural resources.
So in review, north Africa which is of European descent with Africans is already under the financiers umbrella.
What
is coming is a major cleansing of Kenya and Zimbabwe to gain food
production control followed in unison with Chad in oil resources all
under this Islamcommunist Arab clique, the same clique which ran Africa
300 years ago.
Moving south one gobbles up Zaire and Congo to unite it with communist South Africa.
There
are enough remnants of Marxism is Tanzania (Theresia Heinz Kerry) and
Angola to unite those two major states. As Africa is not much of a
cookie without the above, financiers then in less than 2 years would
control all of Africa more completely than the colonial days and with
the cropping of millions of more people where the colonial powers tried
to save people.
This is a completely reprehensible plan as it is
not for any national security, but for resource control not for
national interests but for the financier few.
Barack Obama is a
tyrant by late definition of the word from it's Greek origins. He is
going to re institute the enslavement of Africa exactly the way the
Arabs and African kingdoms did to the murder of "lesser peoples" as
they are known by this clique.
I do not care how stupid Oprah
Winfrey or Whoopie Goldberg are in blind trust of the black Arab Obama.
They are responsible for this as it is their group always touting
African this and that treating Africans like children who need
handouts. Africans need their nations back, their resources back and an
honest broker to assist them in building moral and sound economic and
governmental institutions which benefit Africans and the west in being
trading partners, not Oprah dressing in loud clothes and not Obama
plundering African peoples.
This what the future of Africa
should be self determination and growth and the facts about what Obama
is about to initiate on the African continent is equal to the
reprehensible slums he and Arab Tony Rezko preyed upon the blacks of
Chicago's South Side.
There is nothing humane about this and is pure savagery in the coming rape and murder of Africa.
So
where are the black leaders in exposing the Obama ethnic cleansing of
Africa and demanding this murderous plan be stopped, instead of it once
again falling to a Conservative writer informing the messiah whom
blacks have signed their souls to has just sold the African soul to a
torment equal to hell.
Don't expect David Letterman's cocktail
crowd to be lamenting for dead Africans, because they sure haven't been
saying a thing for the past decades about those dead they are about to
reap record Obama profits off of in the next 4 years.

I don't think it was as much the republican party as McCain himself. He has no one to blame but himself. He should have put all this out there as soon as it surfaced. He is trying now to cram all this in but people are too enamored of The One. To late I'm afraid. This will go down as the biggest mistake of the campaign-trying to run a "respectful campain". I'm sure you remember, McCain denounced it, "not going to run that kind of campaign", blah, blah, blah. He should have let it run. He didn't put the ad out. This stopped other states from running similar ads. And as far as Sarah, you're so right. She didn't mind talking about all these things. November 2, 2008 - 19:47 ET by dmntd1While I agree that Sen McCain should have given lots more information on the craziness that IS Sen Obama, I give the MSM a lot of the blame as well.
Every time that Sen McCain tried to talk about Sen Obama's record, the MSM, and Sen Obama's camp, went to their 'negative campaign' screed against Sen McCain. That perception of negative campaigning is a known factor in Sen McCain's negative poll numbers.
Sen Obama never had to go negative. He had plenty of other helpers with that. The MSM's incessant screaming against Gov Palin, the media backlash against Joe the Plumber has not been remotely matched with the happy-happy-joy-joy comments made by the lady we'll all be helping pay her fuel and mortgage bills, nor the revelation that Sen Obama's esteemed auntie is an illegal alien, living off the public dole in MA.

O assessed accurately
November 2, 2008 - 16:53 ET by TheAssessorObama doesn't care about his country, his Party, or anyone else. Read the following article from Dr. Vaknin. Obama suffers from NPD (Narcissistic Personal Disorder):
Article: "Planetary President Obama"
Quote: Dr. Sam Vaknin. "At first, I was excited to see a black candidate. He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be
confident.....I soon came to realize that Obama evinces symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or a Bill Clinton. To him, reality and fantasy are intertwined. This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. It is this very disguise that makes them dangerous."
Narcissists project a grandiose but false image of themselves. Jim Jones, the charismatic leader of People's Temple, the man who led over 900 of his followers to cheerfully commit mass suicide and even murder their own children was a narcissist. Charles Manson, Joseph Koni, Shoko Asahara, Joe Stalin, Saddam, Mao Zedong, Kim Jong IL, and Adolph
Hitler are a few examples of narcissists of our time. All these men had a tremendous influence over their fanciers and followers. They created a personality cult around themselves, and with their blazing speeches elevated their admirer's souls, filled their hearts with enthusiasm and instilled in their minds a new zest for life. Those men gave their followers hope. They promised them the moon, but alas, they invariably brought them to their doom. When you are a victim of a cult
of personality, you don''t know it until it's too late.
One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse. "Obama's early life was decidedly chaotic and replete with traumatic and mentally bruising dislocations," says Vaknin. "Mixed-race marriages were even less common then. His parents went through a divorce when he was an infant (two years old). Obama saw his father only once again, before he died in a car accident. His mother re-married and Obama had to relocate to Indonesia, a foreign land with a radically foreign culture, to be raised by a stepfather. He was raised as an only child, full of himself and no others. He never had to share the spotlight with any siblings. At the age of ten, he was whisked off to live with his maternal (white) grandparents. He saw his mother only intermittently in the following few years and then she vanished from his life in 1979. She died of cancer in 1995.".................
Narcissists have no interest in things that do not help them to reach their personal objectives. They are focused on one thing alone, and that is power. All other issues are meaningless to them and they do not want to waste their precious time on trivialities. Anything that does not help them is beneath them and does not deserve their attention. If an issue raised in the Senate does not help Obama in one way or another, he has no interest in it. The "Present" vote is a safe vote; he used the word "Present" all the time as a member of the Illinois legislature. No one could criticize him if things went wrong.
Why should he implicate himself in issues that may become controversial when they don't help him personally? Those issues are unworthy by their very nature because they are not about him.
Obama's election as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review led to a contract and an advance to write a book about race relations. The University of Chicago Law School provided him with a fellowship and an office to work on his book. The book took him a lot longer than expected and at the end it devolved into., guess what? His own autobiography. Instead of writing a scholarly paper focusing on race relations, for which he had been paid, Obama could not resist writing about his most sublime self. He entitled the book "Dreams from My Father."..............
Not surprisingly, Adolph Hitler also wrote his own autobiography when he was still nobody. So did Stalin. For a narcissist no subject is as important as his own self. Why would he waste his precious time and genius writing about insignificant things when he can write about such an august being as himself? Narcissists are often callous and even ruthless. As the norm, they lack conscience. This is evident from Obama's lack of interest in his own brother who lives on only one dollar per month. .....................
I hate to sound alarmist, but one must be a fool if one is not alarmed. Many politicians are narcissists. They pose no threat to
others. They are simply self-serving and selfish. Witness Al Gore's Income Tax; it reveals that he gave away no money to charities, not even to a church. Obama evinces symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or Bill Clinton. To him, reality and fantasy are intertwined. This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. This disguise makes them treacherous. (Look up the true meaning of the word 'treachery.').............
Let's call a spade a spade. This is racism, pure and simple. The truth is, that while everyone carries a misconceived collective guilt towards blacks for wrongs done centuries ago by a bygone people to a bygone people, the blacks carry a collective rancor, enmity or vendetta towards non-blacks, and to this day want to be seen as ""standing up"" to the white man. They seem to be stuck in the 19th century, encouraged by race baiters like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson
and others of their ilk.
The downside of this is, that if Obama turns out to be the disaster I predict, he will cause widespread resentment among the whites. The blacks are unlikely to give up their support of their man. Cultic mentality is pernicious and unrelenting. They will dig their heads deeper in the sand and blame Obama's detractors on racism. This will cause a backlash among the whites. The white supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support. I predict that in less than four years, racial tensions will increase to levels not seen since the turbulent 1960s. Obama will set the clock clock back decades. America is the bastion of freedom. The peace of the world depends on the strength of America, and its weakness translates into the triumph of terrorism and victory of rogue nations. It is no wonder that Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, the Maoist Castroists, the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the lawyers of the Guantanamo terrorists, and virtually all sworn enemies of America are so thrilled by the prospect of their man ("TheChosen One") in the White House. God have mercy on us.

November 2, 2008 - 20:04 ET by TN Mom.....I soon came to realize that Obama evinces symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism
I noticed that obama, when mentioned by reporters, the messiah tag, obama never denounces it. EVER. obama just smiles. Like he is worthy of such a title.
oh, and racial tensions? The clock is already ticking: There are a handful of states who are trying to repeal Affirmative Action. Look at Memphis, TN Mayor Willie Herenton's speach after winning his 5th term last year as fellow AA keep voting him to office.
"Let me tell you something," Herenton said. "I appreciate loyalty."
"This last election has been very disappointing to me," he said. "A lot of people I thought were with me, and I found out they were not with me, and that's a concern. ... There are some mean-spirited people in Memphis. There are some haters in Memphis!"
The crowd exploded: "Shake 'em off!" "Shake 'em off!"
Herenton addressed the racial division, saying he knew some would ask, "Can Willie Herenton bring us together?" His response: "I didn't separate them."
polls
November 2, 2008 - 19:55 ET by weirdoneNo the polls mean nothing. Any poll can be manipulated by the way the questions are asked and who you poll. With the MSM in the tank for Obama who would trust any of their polls? And lots of people I know when they are polled lie just to screw up the poll.
Hey everybody! I just received an email from MoveOn!!!
November 2, 2008 - 17:54 ET by PrairieSkyI'm not kidding...I just checked my email, and I had a message from MoveOn addressed to "MoveOn Supporter" with my first name. I have NO idea why I received this. I have never even been to their website, and have certainly never been a supporter. I am very active as a supporter of conservative and Republican causes, and subscribe to several of their websites. I can't imagine how they got my name, and email address.
They are trying to recruit people to work the phones in a get out the vote push, and wanted to know if I was interested. AS IF????
I went to their unsubscribe page and unsubscribed. They had a comment box for why I was unsubscribing, and I told them that I didn't know why they were contacting me, that I wasn't a supporter, and thought that MoveOn was reprehensible, that I would never support Obama and was a Republican and a McCain supporter, and to NEVER contact me again.
Has anyone else received mail from MoveOn, or am I just lucky???

November 2, 2008 - 17:56 ET by weirdone“To avoid being mistaken for a sell out, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students, The foreign students, The Chicanos, The Marxist Professors and the structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets.” Barak Obama from “Dreams of My Father. I have read both of Obama’s books and have been looking into his background for many months; long before he became so controversial after the Wright revelations. What I discovered is: His father, the focus of his book, was a card carrying member of the Communist Party in Kenya. His mother attended a Marxist high school, His mentor growing up was Frank Marshall Davis, the poet he mentions above, a Communist Party member, his mentor in collage, Saul Alinski, a Marxist. His pastor the reverend Wright also a Marxist as are his friends Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn Ayers and Mike Kolnsky, all Marxists. An early “Official Blogger” on his own web site, Sam Graham Felsen a Marxist. He has been endorsed by Carl Davison a Marxist who serves as a national steering committee member of United for Peace and Justice a Marxist organization. The Communist Party USA endorses Obama and says that after all these years "its time has come"? He supports, and has campaigned for Kenya’s Raila Odinga, his cousin, a Marxist terrorist. He trained organizers for and served as a lawyer for, ACORN, a Marxist organization. He advocates redistribution the wealth an idea right out of Karl Marx’s writings: In order for a government to redistribute wealth they must first confiscate it from those who have produced it as government only consumes wealth they do not produce it. A conspiracy theory for Obama's...
November 2, 2008 - 19:12 ET by Prester John...Civilian National Security Force.
Since we all know that BHO is a closet anti-gun type, is it possible that this new security force of his is nothing more than an attempt to flush out all the gun owners out there?
Let's say that somehow BHO gets a Federal or Supreme Court decision that calls this Force today's version of the traditional "militia" as described in the 2d Amendment. Is it beyond the realm of possibility that the Federal government could then decide that only those who are enrolled in this new militia would be allowed to keep personal fire arms? And wouldn't the Feds want to know which of its "militia" members already have fire arms?
And if that is the case, wouldn't anyone who happened to be expelled from the militia for say, political unreliability, have his/her weapon(s) confiscated?
Those who posses firearms and are not a member of the militia would then be suspect and thus immediately liable to have his/her weapons confiscated since they are not part of a "regulated militia".
So there you have it. An armed "militia" under direct control of the Feds with full knowledge of who has weapons and a judicially decided "right" of the government to confiscate "illegal" weapons.
Just a thought.
REMEMBER JIMMAH CARTER?
November 2, 2008 - 19:43 ET by reelman46Its gonna be 10x worse with Obama. Polls are agenda-driven these days...ignore any before the final 10 days would be good advice. They under or oversample to please their ends. Its all part of "the year journalism died"...the sickness took a fatal turn when Rather betrayed any real journalism left.
I think when Rush said, "if Obama is not 10 points up he will lose"...is closer to reality than those huge 15-19 point margins. Maybe they are counting felons, illegals and the homeless (aka jobless) registered by ACORN.
One thing sure is this election has the least qualified, least proven, least vetted, most liberal candidate ever. That alone should scare every thinking American and also close the book on legit journalism, its dead. Win or lose there will be riots-destruction...its what democrats do. The lib-media will continue diaper-changing anything done by the democrat base. I mean anything.
Should Obama win and do even half what he proposes year one the blacklash will be furious...democrats will be flushed from congress in droves by 2010.
The biased TV and papers will be impacted financially. There are still enough working Americans who have the common sense to know secular socialism is a cultural cancer. Castro should be example enough.

I honestly don't know how the DNC beat Hillary and gave the nomination to Obama; I really don't. I've been studying politics for a long time and Hillary was the closest thing to a shoe-in that the Democrats have ever had in the primaries with a non-incumbent. And yet, she still lost. To a political neophyte. Absolutely impossible without sandbagging help from the DNC.

I'm afraid! Uh, NOT!
November 2, 2008 - 21:21 ET by JoelCTDown here in Texas, we say, Bring It ON!
I am a little worried about Chicago, though. They are predicting a million people at the Obama "victory" party in that park there. Those people are going to be so mad when Obama loses! I would not be surprised to see large portions of Chicago burned to the ground, but I pray that this does not happen, and that the Chicago police are ready for them if it does.
If there is violence against people, the blood will be on Obama's hands, for being so idiotic as to plan such an event. You have the party the next day, not the night of the election!
I may have said, pre-Rodney
November 2, 2008 - 21:48 ET by GregEI may have said, pre-Rodney King days, that that kind of thing wouldn't happen. But because of what I saw after that court verdict, I absolutely positively believe that an Obama loss would bring about very very ugly riots. And they would not be contained to their particular street/neighborhood setting. I believe that there would be individuals, or small groups, that would be very agressive toward other people anywhere and everywhere, and I believe that the divide would be racial.
It's unfortunate to say. But again, the 1992 Rodney King verdict outcome is one that I point to heavily. Also, and not as strong, was the OJ verdict. There were those who were so happy he was not found guilty, though we all know he did it. The fact that people would be relieved that he was found not guilty, is disturbing. Actual relief for someone who obviously murdered. Relief based solely on race. I also would point a little to the Michael Jackon case. Not as strongly, but I was amongst a group watching the verdict come in, and there were several cheers of joy when he was found not guilty. In all cases, the people relieved and cheering for joy and rioting in LA, were of the same race as the subjects I described.
All of that is very disturbing when looking at the level of hype and elevation that has been given to the Obama for the last 2 years. If he wins, we won't see it, but if he loses, be absolutely prepared for anything.

November 2, 2008 - 22:04 ET by Clear thinkerGreg...
I am forced to agree with you because people's actions have always spoken louder than words. The shame of it is.... if riots happen, it will be Obama's fault. And not because he's a black man, but because he is a racist. Oh, I know there will be a few of you that will tell me I'm just trying to be provacative or some such BS, but that's not the case at all. Since the time he was a pre-teen, Obama has been influenced by radicals that all believe that the USA is a racist nation, and considering how close he has been to these people, there's an excellent chance he feels the same way. He even married a woman that's a racist. In her own words...
‘There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost.’

November 2, 2008 - 22:40 ET by GregEHmmm, "will utilize all of my present and future resources"......I would say that "future" resources of a possible "future" First Lady, are quite vast.
I believe that much of what the media has kept under wraps would likely solidify some of Obama's mindset and tendencies that we otherwise do not know and will not be allowed to know. As I've said before, the media has made the Obama. If he's in debt to anyone at all, it's the media. Without their bias, he would not have won the nomination of his party.
You are correct. Obama pushed the race card early in the campaign against John McCain, solidifying it in people's minds, yet it was never actually played against him. He stooped to a low beyond low and pre-empted that which never came to the fruition he wanted and likely hoped for. But he planted the seed in the minds of people, to look at the McCain campaign as definitively to infuse race, yet it was only he, Obama, that did this, sounding Jeremiah Wright-ish with his comments "did I mention he's black" and "they'll say he doesn't look like the people on the dollar bills." Those two comments alone were disgusting - accusing racism where there was none, and not only accusing it, but attempting to tell the future with a pre-emptive accusation of it. Racism - something very touchy in this country, something around which much political correctness is designed, something that people will assume is meant solely based on their interpretation of what the speaker says regardless of how the speaker intends the words.....and Obama brought it up as casually as a walk in the park, and knowing exactly what he was doing. That was a disgusting display. When he speaks of McCain's negative ads, he speaks with zero credibility, as no McCain ad, no matter how negative any has been, can remotely compare to the vitriol Obama spewed from the two stages where he voiced those two phrases in hopes of stirring up a racial divide by pre-emptively making accusations against his opponent John McCain.
You are correct. He is responsible for his words and his actions. He said words have meaning. Yes, they do, and he knows it. And he knew it when he used them accusatorily.
I gotta share this with
November 2, 2008 - 21:48 ET by bloolooI gotta share this with y'all... I'm pretty sure you'll understand how I felt. Anyway, my wife is going to be working on Tuesday (7am to 7pm) and would be unable to get to the polls, so, we decided to go on Saturday to the registrar of voters office and vote. We waited a little over 3 hours before we finally got in to vote. All the while, people were pissing and moaning about having to stand about and I finally had had enough. Without singling out anybody in particular, in a not-so-quite voice (and knowing that many were listening), I reminded several of the people we had been waiting with about the elections in another country where villagers walked for miles for the privilege to vote. All the way home they showed off their purple ink-stained thumbs to anyone and everyone who passed by. For some of these people it was the first time they had been given the chance to take part in a free election in their own country! I also reminded them of the men and women who sacrificed their lives to make it possible for them to vote. Then I explained this story was told to me by my nephew who was an Army Ranger in Iraq and was on hand to help with the process. He had told me there were many purple "thumbs up" signs that day. I then wondered out loud, how many of the people in this line would be here if they had to walk 10 miles or more just to even get here? It was amazing how quiet it suddenly became! The coolest thing for me though was what happened after I had gotten inside and cast my ballot and was walking back to where we had parked. As we were walking away from the building I heard someone whistle. When we turned to see where it was coming from, we saw about 15 or so of the people who were still in the line and they all gave a "thumbs up"! I gotta tell ya, that one little gesture made my day...

And I'm going to take my portable beach chairs, and leave them there for the oldsters.

November 2, 2008 - 21:57 ET by GregEAwesome bloo. Thanks for sharing it and thanks for DOING it. Because you mentioned Iraq, it's very very likely that all of the thumbs-ups you got back were McCain voters. Obama voters have no interest in the success story of the Iraqi elections.
Thanks Bloo That's
November 2, 2008 - 21:59 ET by cocodrieThanks Bloo That's encouraging. We don't have that problem as most citizens in our precinct are mature or elderly.

November 2, 2008 - 22:09 ET by TheAssessorWhat a great story. Thank you and because of it, I'm going to dip my thumb in something purple on election day and leave it on all day. If I'm asked why, I'm going to say I voted for my country.

Anyone who would complain about waiting in line for our most sacred American right is probably a Democrat. I'm surprised they weren't saying that the government should pay them for standing in the line...
They are going to be so mad on Wednesday when their B. O. loses!!!
bloo... Thank you. Also
November 2, 2008 - 23:02 ET by bigtimerbloo...
Thank you.
Also the people in Iraq who waited in lines had also the fear their may be violence, possibility of their lives taken, or those with them, including their children.
I will never forget that day...ever.
What ungrateful whiners we have here in this nation now....the leftists have done their job well over the decades.

November 2, 2008 - 22:04 ET by TheAssessorSome bloggers just came home from the Meadowlands and are saying there were McCain/Palin signs just everywhere. This has been stewing around for a couple weeks now, that Jersey might go McCain because of all the crap they've had to put up with from the Dems all these years. I wouldn't count on it but it would be soooo **&!*ng sweet!

Go PUMAS!!!
November 3, 2008 - 01:17 ET by Asian ConI'm glad to see some people here mentioning the PUMA factor. I totally believe that they are the silent majority and they're going to lead us to victory! I've been lurking on their blogs for months now and they're very well organized and highly motivated. This group of "bitter" women aren't getting over it and have left the party of the Axis of Taxes, i.e. Pelosi, Reid, Obama. There are well over a 100 diffrent anti-Obama sites all under the Just Say No Deal coalition and their message is NOBAMA. I was going to link a site that broke down the electoral maps with the PUMA's factored in but, The Assessor beat me to it.
I agree with BT and others on being dissapointed with the Fox News punditry lately. Chris Wallace is really starting to get on my nerves. Today while interviewing Rick Davis, he was rude and when Davis tried to make a point, he said, "Don't interrupt me, I'm not David Axelrod." OMG. I could not believe he said that, the smug SOB. Davis, to his credit, just chuckled and brushed it off. Wallace was less combative with David Plouffe. I haven't watched Fox News Sunday for that long but, that seems to be Chris's M.O. as of late. Tough on conservatives and soft on liberals. For what it's worth, Fred Barnes is the only conservative who predicted a McCain win. Even Krauthammer has been a total downer this election season. Oh well, I'm not letting it get me down. This election is too important. I'm voting McCain/Palin!!!

November 3, 2008 - 10:15 ET by NorthCoasterto wake up Wednesday morning to one huge backlash to all of the media hype, no-information and dis-information. I don't trust the polls because of the selection of respondents.
I wonder how many of the early voters are PUMA voters?
The last thing I want to see is an infernal endzone dance accross the country if the Dems. end up with a landslide. Whichever way things go, I can see further polarization in the electorate.
