On Tuesday, Yahoo News published an Associated Press picture of a young Palestinian gentleman who is campaigning for Barack Obama from his home in Gaza:
Palestinian Ibrahim Abu Jayab, 24, is seen next to his computer, in his family house in Nusayrat refugee camp, central Gaza Strip, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008. A young Palestinian in a Gaza refugee camp is doing his part to get out the vote for Barack Obama. With a little help from the Internet, 24-year-old Ibrahim Abu Jayab is cold calling random American families from his parent's home imploring them to vote Obama.
One would think this would be quite newsworthy especially given Obama's ever-changing position on Israel and "Palestine" as well as the controversial tape of the junior senator from Illinois at a dinner party with former PLO operative Rashid Khalidi that the Los Angeles Times is refusing to make public.
Yet, according to a Google News search, only USA Today and AP have published anything about this matter, including the following video report from the world's leading wire service:
This is what USA Today reported Tuesday:
A young Palestinian in a Gaza refugee camp is doing his part to get out the vote for Barack Obama.
With a little help from the Internet, 24-year-old Ibrahim Abu Jayab is cold calling random American families from his parent's home imploring them to vote Obama.
Seated in front of his computer, he uses the Skype internet phone service to leave messages for potential voters.
"I'm Ibrahim Abu Jayab from Gaza Strip. I support the Senator Obama from Gaza Strip," he said in one. "I think the Senator Obama achieve the peace in the world and in my area. For the peace, please elect Senator Obama. Thank you very much."
Why isn't this matter getting more publicity? Does the Obama-loving media think it might hurt the junior senator's chances of winning next week?

When I think "refugee camp"
October 29, 2008 - 09:49 ET by dmntd1When I think "refugee camp" I surely don't think "high-tech computers, long distance telephone lines, and the ability to make expensive trans-oceanic telephone calls". Now that I know better, maybe I won't feel so bad about hearing about 'refugee camps' throughout the world!

if he wants, he can donate too
October 29, 2008 - 10:09 ET by FAQsIf Ibrahim wants to donate to Obama's campaign he can certainly do so on the Obama web site. His not being a citizen of the United States is not a barrier to donating. Obama has more money than he can possibly spend in this campaign so another donation won't do much good anyway.

October 29, 2008 - 11:23 ET by Gat New YorkUnless it is accompanied by a comment from the Obama campaign, my local newspaper Newsday will not print anything that is negative about Obama. Until today they did not mention the term "spread the wealth" and that was mentioned in of all placed their sports section!
Noel,
October 29, 2008 - 11:46 ET by R D HelmWell, after all, we are just one big, happy "Global Community," right?
That would be the angle the MSM would surely try and convey, if they were actually covering this.
Of course, if it was some poor guy in Israel, soon to be within range of Iran's nuclear reach, who was randomly calling Americans and imploring them to vote differently, I bet the MSM would have a collective fit.
"Why, that just has to be illegal," would be the mantra of the day.

What is troubling Noel, is.............
October 29, 2008 - 12:02 ET by BEGRUNTa large majority of American Jews are voting for Obama......this has always perplexed me. Here is a man with NO clear policy regarding Israel. My biggest fear, and Biden I think telegraphed this with his saying, "We will have a major crisis within the first 6 months". I translate this as an attack on Israel, and Obama will sit on his hands. Remember Biden said we wouldnt like their response, but to "trust us". Again I dont understand with all of this and major endorsements by Israel's enemies, the American Jews will vote for Obama.......I just dont get it. Now Palestinians actively campaigning for Obama............Alarm bells should be ringing!!!!
