In response to the Sunday evening revelations concerning the socialist, wealth redistribution views expressed by Barack Obama in 2001, the Obama campaign issued a statement blaming "the all too common alliance of Fox News, the Drudge Report and John McCain."
This didn't sit very well with Fox News's Megyn Kelly who on Monday invited Obama's national press secretary Bill Burton on "America's Election Headquarters" to defend these allegations (h/t Johnny Dollar).
What followed was quite a barnburner (video embedded below the fold):

Megyn attacks Mr. Bill
October 27, 2008 - 18:17 ET by semolina_filcherMegyn to Burton: "When you attack, I'll be there." I say keep drowning out this dimwit; I don't care if he is auditioning for the WH Press Secretary job. His bite-the lips routine seem to be a trademark for those who can't say anything sensible.

When the fairness doctrine comes
October 27, 2008 - 23:06 ET by MexNobamaThey will have a hard time shutting down Fox News.
They really do have a number of democrats and liberals on their programming.
Really all AM radio would have to do is follow suit.
Hannity can bring his stuffed dummy Combs on to the air with him.
Levin can ask Keith Olbermann to be on so that he can yell "shut up ya jerk" whenever the big idiot talks.
Rush can bring Chris Matthews on, that would be particularly fun.
BTW the conservatives would still be the producers of that show and therefore the bosses who sign the checks of the paid liberal idiots.
Nevertheless they would offer equal time.
It could actually bring a new dimension to Conservative Radio.
I hate that dweeb Burton. He makes me want to slug him right in the face, but fortunately she handled him very well.

October 27, 2008 - 18:28 ET by IamTinmanThis is just more of the same Obama campaign strategy of confrontation even if you are wrong and Burton is a past master of it.
The Obama mouthpieces are good at doublespeak. The real numbers in Obamas economic plans have yet to be revealed.
The real cost of national health? Massachussetts has already had to increase the amount the employer is taxed. The federal charges are going to be much higher but those numbers won't be released until after the election.
The Obama campaign claims they can eliminate programs but won't say what programs. They just say "Trust me".
We are so screwed!
It all rests on McCain's shoulders

Bill the spinner said..
October 27, 2008 - 18:57 ET by Gary HallWay to go Megyn Kelly. Great stuff, NS.
Bill, the spinner said:
Oh bull. Almost without exception every time Obama's or Biden's mouth is moving, all I hear is them attacking McCain / Palin for not talking about the economy and foreign policy. And when they're not trashing McCain / Palin, they're trashing Bush.
That's not actually the same as talking about the economy and foreign policy; it's negative campaigning. And when their friends in the MSM (Megyn certainly excepted) are asking them questions, they are not asking questions about their policy agenda on economy and foreign policy; rather the questions are limited to how the McCain / Palin camp is attacking Obama / Biden.
Holy tamales.
Oh, one exception to the above. Biden does occasionally talk about other material; weekend before last, it appears that he sorta leaked a bit of national intelligence information in his bizarre conversation about how we're not going to be really sure that Obama is doing the right thing when we get attacked because they believe him to be weak. The MSM didn't come to his aid here - they simply kept it quiet. Probably better if Biden just sticks with the rhetoric about McCain / Palin. Why? The MSM knows how to help them with that. Other times, Obama/Biden simply lie to folks. They lied to Joe and they lied to the seniors about SS and Medicare.
Oh yeah, Gar!

October 27, 2008 - 19:18 ET by HockeyKidFirst, well done, Megyn Kelly! I would only wish for one simple question, though: "Aren't five networks shilling for 0bama enough for you, Bill?" The idea was there, if not the wording.
Second, shouldn't he be billed as "Billy Burton"? It appears he doesn't even shave yet, he's not old enough for orthodontia yet, his mama has clearly not taught him his manners, and his education is only advanced enough to allow the parrot-like recitation of 0bama talking points. Clearly, he's not mature enough to have earned the moniker "Bill". Back to the t-ball fields with you, Billy--until you grow up.
wealthiest Americans
October 27, 2008 - 19:20 ET by BuzzguyThe guy doesn't want a conversation, because he has an indefensible position.
I believe that anyone who hears the phrase, "wealthiest Americans," recognizes it as class warfare. I believe that anyone who hears the phrase, "tax break for 95% of Americans," realizes that this is welfare for those in that group who don't pay taxes.
People do understand what is going on.
As long as Obama's minions keep parroting these phrases, the chosen one is going to look more and more like a socialist.

Newsbusters an interesting media trend
October 27, 2008 - 19:30 ET by Lame CherryI apologize in not have the time to read all Newsbusters bloggers postings, but I do try to read the top stories like this one.
What I would like to request is would it be possible for NB to sometime do a report on how many media outlets shadow this site?
I know from stories I have been looked in upon by the Obamaniacs both in intelligence operatives and people like the AP. There are times which I post things on NB that within 24 hours the major media stories will start running feeds whether it is "likely voters", undecided voters or like the story today AP was running which was something I posted on NB yesterday.
That amazes me in how much NB is read or lurked upon by the liberals. It honestly is plagiarism as they are taking blogger conversation here and making it their own for profit.
It only makes me wonder how soulless they are as they lie, steal, manipulate and go about it each day.
Why though has it taken the right wing to until the finish line of the election to come up with the word Marxism and none of them has yet told the world Obama is a Trotskyite, that means he believes in perpetual revolution.
When one does that the only people who benefit are people who have hired guns, the hired guns, the monopoly players for food like Cargill in Minnesota who march to European food transfer orders and morticians as they do a booming business in perpetual change.
FOX has been more in the bag for Obama than anyone since Murdoch played cuddles.

I can't stand this guy. Burton is the same little turd that released that elitist, smarmy statement attempting to diminish Sarah by saying that she was just a mayor of small town and governor of a small state, right after McCain announced her as his VP pick. Interestingly, Obama had to do damage control and made his own statement about her, which was much more even-handed.
Watching Burton and listening to his endless stream of lies and misrepresentations is absolutely maddening! I don't know how Megyn keeps her composure, because all I want to do is smack him in the face. Burton's diatribe about Fox and what he says about its favorable treatment of McCain is absurd and laughable to anyone who has watched MSNBC or CNN and has seen their syrupy sweet treatment of Obama.

Obama is bringing on full blown socialism, maybe you will be the typical Obamabot that will say that when Obama said, "I want to spread the wealth around..." he didn't mean, "he wants to spread th wealth around..." any true American should be terrorized by this concept of spreading the wealth. don't get hang up on the $$$ amount, but rather on the idea of the government taking your hard earned money and giving it to others.
Will he bring Communism, I don't think so, but will he try to fundamentally change American politics and economics far to the left? yes!
maybe you can explain how he will change America and the world.
Maybe you can explain why schools, just like during Nazi Germany, are teaching children songs about Obama. When's the last time in American politics that a politician was literally treated like a Messiah. It has gotten so bad that he is even asked sycophant questions by the media, "Do you think you will be able to fill the shoes of a Messiah?"
I never thought I would see the American citizens one day act like the citizens of third world nations. To be so easily manipulated by an obvious bad, manipulative, corrupt politician like Obama. Once again, how can any intelligent person can be hoodwinked and bamboozled by Obama is beyond me. Anyone with any types of brains can see that Obama will be a disaster for America.
Maybe you can explain why the media has refused to vet Obama? why they refuse to ask the tough questions. Maybe you can explain why when a news anchor decides to ask the tough questions that channel is banned from the Obama campaign.
liberallies,
October 27, 2008 - 21:33 ET by R D HelmI am not talking about Obama bringing in communism, but he will bring socialism.
Given that the line between the two is near razor-thin, at the end of the day, will it really matter?
Besides, socialism pretty much always brings about communism, as the state has to go to greater and greater lengths to keep the people in line as they begin to figure out that socialism actually sucks.

Mightymouth, Exactly, it
October 27, 2008 - 20:30 ET by LiberalliesMightymouth,
Exactly, it is front news that Palin spent $150,000 on her wardrobe Obama wears incredibly expensive suits and no one says a word, he spends millions on some ridiculous Greek columns, no one says a work, spends over 1 million on a 30 min. advertisment, no one says a word....interestingly enough, if Obama cares so much for the middle class and the poor, why hasn't he given up some of his 605 million raised for the campaign to the poor? Will he donate any money not used during the campaign to the poor? Don't hold your breath...but I got off subject.....
The media, Obama and the Obamabots believe that Palin's clothes is front page and top of the hour news. However Obama admitting he wants to redistribute wealth, wants the courts to force this, claiming that the Constitution is fundamentally flawed is...well....just getting off the subject of what Americans really want to hear....
How can any intelligent person fall for Obama, how? Poor Obamabots.....
Exactlly lib(no offense meant)
October 27, 2008 - 20:43 ET by MightyMouthHow many lives could Obama's millions have saved in Africa if he really cared about his "fellow man". Politics be damned! Let's face it Obama is nothing new, same old same old. Get into power and do whatever you want regardless of what you promised.

Mightymouth, I hate to
October 27, 2008 - 20:51 ET by LiberalliesMightymouth,
I hate to say this, but Americans do not know what they are getting.
I was in Germany last week and I was talking to a man who told me, he was baffled how anyone could fall for a smooth talking, diplomatic guy that was offering to change everything, from America to the world. As he stated, the last time Germany fell for a man like that.....well you know. And the thing is that this German citizen was far, far, far from being a Bush supporter. But as an objective observer to our elections he saw what many Obamabots cannot see.
When someone promises you something that sounds too good to be true, it is because it is too good to be true.
I think the expectations that the Obamabots that placed on Obama will be the seeds of Obama's destruction. When these fools realize that Obama is nothing, but a demagogue they will in shock.
I lived through this type of election. Back in 1998 Hugo Chavez was legally elected by the Venezuelan people. Hugo Chavez convinced them that Venezuelan needed Hope and Change. Chavez convinced them that Venezuelan needed a new direction, that i needed an outsider, etc, etc, etc. Scary thing is that Chavez's message and Obama's sound exactly the same!!!
When I heard today that Obama believes that our Constituiton is fundamentally flawed.....wow!!! Same thing that Chavez said about the Venezuelan Constitution. What did Chavez do? Literally burn the old constitution and re-write a new one. I don't think Obama can go that far, but he will go as far as he can.
I am truly afraid, more like terrified of an Obama Presidency.
This is not just any Presidency like the past. This will be a history changing Presidency. If Obama wins, the USA will be heading to dark times.
Balboa and the rest of the Liberals that read this, if you believe I am exagerating, just go read how Venezuelans warned of a Chavez Presidency and how naive individuals like you laughed off the charged against Chavez.
Americans don't have a clue to what is coming if Obama is elected.
Thank you for that post, I bet it is apprectiated by many!

So you explain what we are saying with, "Whatever".
quite convincing there (sarcams off)
You have refused to explain Obama's spread the wealth comment.
You have refused to explain the Democrats, supported by Obama, Fairness Doctrine bill.
You have refused to explain Obamam's comment that our Constitution is fundamentally flawed.
Once again, Obama will not be a Hitler or Chavez, I don't believe our military and more importantly the American people would allow it. HOwever, he will move this nation very far to the left.
Maybe you can explain how the Obama supporters went afer Joe the Plumber after asking a question that caused Obama to speak the truth. Is this not a tactic used by dictators? is it?
Maybe you can explain how the media is so in love with this man that they do not care to vet him. They ask him softball questions while drilling McCain and Palin. When the tough questions ARE asked the Obama campaign bans the reporters and the television station? wow!
Maybe you can explain away how he said he will demand that every single American does some type of civil service. Hmmm...where have we heard this before?
Why is it that Liberals love to hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil when it comes to Obama.
If you are so incredibly correct, defend your point, proves all wrongs.
Show us the incredible background and history that obama has that puts us to shame for thinking that Obama will move this nation incredible far to the left and will take away freedoms that we have taken for granted.

October 27, 2008 - 21:23 ET by LiberalliesBalboa,
I don't believe that Obama will take this nation and become a dictator. However, as you can see from today's reports....They don't like when tough questions are asked for the Obama campaign. They love to blame all the world's problems on racist, whites.....hmmm....you might want to go study some history and see how Chavez and Hilter and in fact any dictator usually blames all the ills of the people suffering in their nation on an specific group of people. In Nazi Germany...it was the Jews fault, in Venezuela it was the rich, and the white.
I do expect this nation to move to the left rather fast. I do expect this nations military to be down graded. I do expect this nation to leave Iraq without our job being done. Just over the weekend our special forces dealt an immense blow to Al Qaeda...where, where? In the border of Syria and Iraq.
Why is it that Iran, Chavez, etc are all cheering for an Obama Presidency, why Balboa?
Doom and gloom from Obama? You don't have a clue to history, you live in a bubble my friend. Let's talk four years from now if Obama wins on November 4 and tell me how terrified you are of four more years of Obama.
I see you have not tackled the "spread the wealth comments by Obama".
If you want I can also find you youtube video of Obama promising to cut the military and defense spending. In fact, Barney Frank, a Democrat promised to cut defense spending by 25%.
God help this nation if Obama is elected.
The problem with too many Americans is that they don't have a clue about history.

He sees the Constitution as a barrier that needs to be overcome in order to press his agenda.

African-Americans were not
October 27, 2008 - 23:00 ET by balboaAfrican-Americans were not -- first of all they weren’t African-Americans -- the Africans at the time were not considered as part of the polity that was of concern to the Framers. I think that as Richard said it was a ‘nagging problem’ in the same way that these days we might think of environmental issues, or some other problem where you have to balance cost-benefits, as opposed to seeing it as a moral problem involving persons of moral worth.
“And in that sense,” Obama continued, “I think we can say that the Constitution reflected an enormous blind spot in this culture that carries on until this day, and that the Framers had that same blind spot. I don’t think the two views are contradictory, to say that it was a remarkable political document that paved the way for where we are now, and to say that it also reflected the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day.”
Now, I'm trying to find more of this transcript, but this is what I've found so far.

Bal,
October 27, 2008 - 23:18 ET by RESTLESS 1This is what is being discussed here:
"If you look at the victories and failures of the civil rights
movement and its litigation strategy in the court, I think where it
succeeded was to vest formal rights in previously dispossessed peoples.
So that I would now have the right to vote, I would now be able to sit
at the lunch counter and order and as long as I could pay for it I’d be
okay.
But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth
and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this
society. And to that extent as radical as people tried to characterize
the Warren court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution,
at least as it’s been interpreted, and the Warren court interpreted it
in the same way that generally the Constitution is a charter of
negative liberties. It says what the states can’t do to you, it says
what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what
the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.
And that hasn’t shifted.
One of the I think tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court focused, I think that there was a
tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and
activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual
coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributed change and in some ways we still suffer from that."
And just one more little nugget from "that one":
“...just to take a, sort of a realist perspective...there’s a lot of
change going on outside of the Court, um, that, that judges essentially
have to take judicial notice of. I mean you’ve got World War II, you’ve
got uh, uh, uh, the doctrines of Nazism, that, that we are fighting
against, that start looking uncomfortably similar to what we have going
on, back here at home.”

"And to the extent as radical I think as people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn't that radical. It didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it's been interpreted. The Warren Court interpreted it in the same way that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. It says what the states can't do to you. It says what the federal government can't do to you, but it doesn't say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf."

October 27, 2008 - 23:33 ET by LiberalliesEh? Balboa,
Obama claims that the American Constitution gives us a list of things that the government, state and federal can't do. It is what is called in his super, ultra, radical left wing Constitutional thought, negative rights. He doesn't believe that the Constitution grants Americans any rights. Obviously the imbecile forgot to read the first few sentences of the Constitution. yes, I called Obama an imbecile....get over it.

that is exactly it, how can Obama, if he is the true, honest person, the Messiah that stands for truth, honesty and all that is good, swear on a Bible that he is going to defend a document and the meaning behind a document if he believes that the document is fundamentally flawed!
Just by taking the Oath of Office Obama shows us who he truly is, a HYPOCRITE that will say anything to get elected!

October 27, 2008 - 20:17 ET by LiberalliesDid it escape this fool, Bill Burton, that he was given live air time to complain about Foxnews Channel? If Foxnews wasn't fair and balance why would Fox allow him to complain about it on the air, live and allow over 1 million viewers to hear him whine and cry about Foxnews coverage of Barack Obama? Notice how he was unable to respond to the polls and studies that have concluded that Barack Obama has been helped by the media. These Liberals, intelligence is definitely not their forte. I am glad Megan took this Obamabot on and put him in his place. If it would have been me, I would have cut off his mic and personally gone to where he was speaking and slapped his sarcasm out of him. The funniest thing is that Foxnews IS the most watched news channel. I am unsure why the other channels do not take on Foxnews channel model.
But it is incredibly scary how the media is so openly Liberal, pro-Obama, and there is very little we can do.
If any Republican would have said that the Constitution is fundamentally flawed, like Barack Obama has said....can you imagine the media outrage?
It is like the other day, I was watching Chris Matthews after the last McCain-Obama debate, I was waiting to see if Matthews would make fun of Obama for starring at the cameras just like Palin did and Chris called her a dolt. Obviously Matthews had a hard on and came all over the cameras while he fantacized about an Obama Presidency.

October 28, 2008 - 00:12 ET by LiberalliesBalboa,
You know, in 1998 I had family and friends that voted for Hugo Chavez. Incredibly enough, the same alarms, warnings were being sounded about him. These family members and friends just like you said that they just wanted to get rid of the establishment, get rid of the party that had been in power, etc, etc. That they wanted to give someone a fresh start. When confronted with the radical views of Hugo Chavez they said, just like you, oh please, this is just another election. Venezuela will be the same in 5-10 years from now.
Just like you all they wanted was to change parties. They laughed and defended with everything they had Hugo Chavez. Today....ALL OF THEM.....and I do mean ALL of them regret not listening.
There are no analyst, right or left, that believe this is not a history changing election year. There is no historian, political scientist, analyst, right or left, that will tell you that if Obama gets elected things in America will radically change. Obviously, some of them want and agree with the radical change, others do not. But the big change, the radical swing, the radical change in American life is coming with an Obama campaign. The question is, do YOU believe it? Do you want to look four, five, ten years down the line and regret with all your heart an dmight, like my friends and family, your vote.
You so blindly defend Obama, his words, you are desperate to believe that Obama will not bring sweeping changes.
Balboa, if you are ok with either McCain or Obama winning, if you don't believe that any radicla change will come with any of these two man, why then not vote McCain, right? it will make no difference....of course according to you.

Tell that to the millions of children that will be aborted thanks to Obama passing the Freedom of Choice Act, or the Exectuive Order he will sign immediatly after taking office that will allow our tax money to go to abortion clinics, international planned parenthood, etc.
Furthermore, Obama will take us out from Iraq. I whole heartly believe this promise of his. Terrorists will see this as a win and just like in the 1990s under Clinton, they will be embolden.
I am unsure how Balboa can honestly believe that Obama won't bring radical changes to this nation.
Rhetoric games
October 27, 2008 - 23:33 ET by KC MulvilleMark Oppenheimer wrote a great piece on the death of oratory in the WSJ last week. Here's a relevant paragraph:
Watch Burton's style. He thinks he's being clever by doing this "postmodern" style. Does anyone think he's trying to persuade? He plainly doesn't care what Kelly thinks, not what the audience thinks. When he doesn't want to address the point, he just talks about whatever he feels like - and keeps on talking, rude as he can be, as if he's just not going to be stopped. Like a gang member, he's merely urinating disrespect on anyone who stands in the gang's way. He's a thug.
Remember a couple weeks ago, when the other Obama thug showed up on Hannity and Colmes, and tried to make a childish equivalence between Hannity's interview with some right-wing nut (who I never heard of) and Obama's association with Ayers? He was a thug.
When they have to answer questions, they resort to childish, juvenile intimidation. Just like a gang. Get ready for four years of gang politics.

October 28, 2008 - 08:54 ET by VictorOfBorgIt seems another one of Obama's mouthpieces has taken a vacation from reality and needs to be rounded up by the "white-coats."
Yup, if this is an example of what we have to look forward to if "The Dear Leader" is elected, we can say goodbye to anything resembling the traditional check and balance by the press of government leaders. Any reporter or media outlet brave enough to question "The Dear Leader" or his policies will be belittled as "in the tank" for the opponents of "change and progress," or, they'll be summarily frozen out and denied the ability to even ask pertinent questions of an Obama Whitehouse.
Kim Jong Il has nothing on the "cult of Obama." I wonder how long it will be before publicly espousing a conservative, Christian, or opposing view will be deemed a "hate crime?" Okay, that's not going to happen you say... tell that to the few reporters who have asked tough questions of Obama or his staff. With total control of the executive, legislative, and eventually, the judicial branches of government, it can happen given the corruptive nature of absolute power.

20th Century Lesson: Socialism Doesn't Work
October 28, 2008 - 12:53 ET by deerjerkydaveA major lesson learned from history is that socialism doesn't work. I thought we learned that from the 20th century. Unfortunately, power hungry politicians haven't given up on it because it benefits themselves at the cost to the general public and frequently the poor.
Socialism looks good on paper but in practice it is proven to be destructive to economies, jobs, and freedom. Already we have Obama censoring media that he disagrees with. He also intends to shut down conservative talk radio. He wants to replace it with children singing hymns to his greatness. Our fourth of July celebrations are going to sound hollow after Obama is through with "changing" America.
