Want to talk media bias?
A new survey found that more Americans know who Joe the Plumber is than about Barack Obama's ties to the radical group ACORN.
The same study released Wednesday by the highly-respected Pew Resesearch Center found that voters, by a margin of almost eight to one, believe media want Barack Obama to win on Election Day instead of John McCain.
Although it is typical the public feels journalists are pulling for the Democrat presidential candidate, the numbers this election cycle are nothing but astounding (emphasis added):
Voters overwhelmingly believe that the media wants Barack Obama to win the presidential election. By a margin of 70%-9%, Americans say most journalists want to see Obama, not John McCain, win on Nov. 4. [...]
In recent presidential campaigns, voters repeatedly have said they thought journalists favored the Democratic candidate over the Republican. But this year's margin is particularly wide. At this stage of the 2004 campaign, 50% of voters said most journalists wanted to see John Kerry win the election, while 22% said most journalists favored George Bush. In October 2000, 47% of voters said journalists wanted to see Al Gore win and 23% said most journalists wanted Bush to win. In 1996, 59% said journalists were pulling for Bill Clinton.
Maybe more incredible, this bias is perceived -- and reported!!! -- by both sides of the aisle:
In the current campaign, Republicans, Democrats and independents all feel that the media wants to see Obama win the election. Republicans are almost unanimous in their opinion: 90% of GOP voters say most journalists are pulling for Obama. More than six-in-ten Democratic and independent voters (62% each) say the same.
And, finally, more interesting news about Joe the Plumber:
Almost two-thirds (64%) of the public heard a lot about "Joe the plumber" and another one-in-four heard a little about him.
Discussions tied to "Joe" made for one of the most widely heard about events of the campaign, comparable to the percentage who heard a lot about McCain's decision to temporarily suspend his campaign last month (65%) and Obama's visit to the Middle East and Europe in late July (62%). According to PEJ's Campaign Coverage Index, "Joe the plumber" was the third biggest campaign storyline last week, accounting for 8% of all campaign related news.
Fewer Americans have heard a lot about Obama's ties to ACORN, the community organizing group that has been accused of voter registration fraud. Still, roughly half (48%) have heard a lot about ACORN and ties to Obama and a third (34%) have heard a little about this story.
A solid majority of Republicans (60%) have heard a lot about ACORN, compared with fewer than half of Democrats (46%) and independents (43%).
I guess this tells us what the media feel is more important, dontcha think?

The end point of all socialism government is the same. Socialism in it's many forms murdered about 100 million people in the 20th century. And now Socialism represents hope and change for many -- May they be awarded a spot first in line.

October 23, 2008 - 10:07 ET by Anchor89We Americans now know more about Joe the Plumber's personal life and background than we do about Reverend Wright, Tony Rezco, Bill Ayers, Joe Biden, and Barak Obama put together. An interesting poll would be to show pictures of each of these people (except Obama) and see which one is correctly identified by the most Americans. I bet Joe would beat the rest of them (including Biden) put together. I wonder who could produce a birth certificate faster: Barak Obama or Joe the Plumber. Maybe Joe should start carrying his around and show it to reporters and ask Obama to show us his....
Why doesn't the press show any curioisity about the rest of these people? Is this a warning by the press to other Americans to not dare question Barak Obama or your life may be ruined? Is this what we have to look forward to in an Obama administration?
Again for journalists who don't get it: Balance and bias is more often not about what you report than about what you don't report.

Obama has been asked by the courts to prove his eligibility to be President by providing
proof of citizenship. Mr. Berg is a lawyer and a Democrat.
As of yesterday neither Obama nor the DNC has provided evidence and over the
past month has filed motion after motion to dismiss this lawsuit filed in Philadelphia PA
Why not just produce the proof and end the mystery?

If Obama is elected and it is later discovered that he is not a citizen then the
Constitution is useless.

With this much recognition, the description of how the Dem tax plans will negatively affect "Joes" will be listened to by voters planning to vote both ways. The opportunity to strike a cord with someone who will be adversly affected by the Obama Plan is enhanced by the level of recognition.
MSM Doesn't Get It!

about taxes from the now famous Plumber. The average American and
working class have risen up to the defense of Joe.
At a recent rally attended by journalist David Corn, he encountered a group of Joe supporters. What is interesting is the following question in response to the supporters.
I believe that whole heartedly, its part of politics. We expect
politicians to go at each other on all sorts of issues and debate and
attack each other in political contests. What I can’t seem to find out
or find any information on is when Joe Wurzelbacher announced his
candidacy for public office.
David Corn seems to be oblivious that Joe Wurzelbacher is not the
one running for office, he is a private citizen who will be subject to
policies and legislation that will be implemented by Obama if he wins
the election. People are angry that it seems that the “Average Joe
Working Class” is getting scrutinized more than the “Presidential
Candidate” who made the statement. Corn’s question doesn’t address why
these people are angry.
People are angry because private citizen’s should not be targeted
for more scrutiny than a Politician when they ask a question. The
private citizen has but a single influence on the direction of the
country.. A Vote. A Politician will have greater influence on what
happens to the country throughout their political career in office.
The Main Stream Media, or should we now say, the Ministry of Truth just doesn’t get it…
