Although I imagine most conservatives aren't fans of radio shock jock Howard Stern, the following must-see video (must-hear audio, really!) exposes the dirty little secret about why so many folks are supporting Barack Obama (hint -- it has NOTHING to do with his policy positions, h/t Larwyn):
Frankly, Stern could have sent folks out to most newsrooms in America and gotten the same responses!

October 13, 2008 - 20:27 ET by PrairieSkyas part of one of their posts. It is beyond frightening that many who may be voting in this election are so ill-informed and ignorant. The fact that some of the people in this "man on the street" moment didn't even catch the fact that Sarah Palin is not Obama's running mate left me almost speechless. You would think that with all the press coverage of her, that they would at least know that!!!
Unbelievable!

You know, this example and many more...
October 13, 2008 - 21:30 ET by PrairieSkyjust like it, remind me of when Clinton was president and most of the MSM were out to lunch concerning his gaffes and transgressions. I used to tell people that I was certain that Clinton could murder someone on the White House lawn during broad daylight with the press corps cameras rolling, and nobody in the media would report it or care. Well, it looks like we may be heading for a similar situation with Obamessiah.
I remember how completely and utterly disgusted and fed up with the off-the-charts hypocrisy I was then, and how glad I was when Clinton finally left office. The possibility of an Obama presidency, and the near certainty of a return to that type of garbage, is just too awful to contemplate.

I thoroughly agree,
October 13, 2008 - 21:52 ET by motherbeltI thoroughly agree, Prairie...I've said that the love they have for Obama will make their affair with Bill Clinton look like the Hatfield/McCoy feud!!
I was listening to Rush today in the car while he was talking about Obama's tax increase only for those making over $250,000 and he had a list that he rattled off of about 20 small businesses (as classified by the Small Business Administration!) that earn in the millions, that would all get clobbered. And that wasn't even the whole list! Here is the link to Patterico's Pontifications that he used as his source.
So what will Obama do? My guess is that he will "redefine" what a "small business" is...and that it will be one that makes under $250,000 a year. That way he can tax the hell out of the others by claiming they are not "small businesses." And the MSM will cheerfully accept the new "definition" and act as though it has always been thus.

October 15, 2008 - 17:23 ET by KC MulvilleAt this moment, I'm riding a commuter train home from work. It's crowded, people standing in the aisles, etc. There's a guy about ten feet away from me, speaking just loudly enough for everyone to hear. (Thank God for the iPhone.)
His argument is that the only way you can understand this country is to travel and see how the rest of the world lives. So Obama is the best choice, because he actually lived outside the US, instead of merely being a POW. This guy, of course, lived some years outside the country, so he has some insight about it.

October 13, 2008 - 22:03 ET by Lame CherryI really would have had Howard Stern not be lazy and always fall back on sex for almost all the does, because this guy is a real journalist if he would just have the guts to do the job.
I have seen Stern pound Phil Donahue and Letterman is terrified of this guy. If Stern would just put his efforts into busting real stories like on NBC's Meet the Press, he would be the best journalist in America because he is fair and can get to the matter while dominating whoever he talks to.
He though would have to flip somebody the bird or ask about sex as he uses it as his crutch.
He is though brilliant when he does his work. I remember before he was huge huge, he used to have a tv program and yes he was disgusting in the stuff he pulled, but he was also able to hit any subject and reveal how bogus it was.
If someone like FOX could ever get him to just do it without the base stuff, he would be a terror on all these patricians ruining America.

October 13, 2008 - 22:47 ET by HermanoSince the stupidity of the average 0bama supporter is on display here, I have to tell you all about my experience this evening. I play bridge at a club in Delaware. My partner is an 0bama supporter. To our table comes a McCain supporter. After we finish play and I quote de Toqueville to the departing McCain supporter, my partner starts in about how stupid McCain and Bush are and how smart 0bama is. He proceeds to tell me that Bush can't even pronounce words correctly, to which I reply that 0bama can't say Pakistan correctly. My partner actually says, "That's different! 0bama is a smart guy and McCain is stupid." He says that 0bama has executive experience because he was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. I asked it 0bama had responsibility for the Review's budget - he did not know. I aksed him if he knew what kind of grades 0bama got at Harvard and Columbia. He did not know. I told him that was OK, because nobody knows since 0bama hasn't released them. He said McCain won't release his medical records to which I said he has and 0bama hasn't...and what about his smoking habit?
The point here is that my bridge partner is an intelligent guy, a retired tax accountant, but he is not hearing because he is not listening. My ears are still ringing as he raised his voice and said, "That's different!" Thank goodness he lives in Delaware.

Yes, and polls on racial attitudes mislead
October 13, 2008 - 23:08 ET by Alfred J. LemireThis will get lost, so I won't spend much time with this.
But an AP-Yahoo survey of voters has been used to tease the notion that Obama may lose 6% of voters because he is "black"--he's actually mixed-race--and 1/3 of white Democrats have "deep-seated" racial antagonisms. A more recent Gallup poll found that 6% of voters were less likely to vote for Obama because he was black, a poll result chewed on Sunday by a CNN panel that included Gloria Borger, Candy Crowley, and one other. However, the Gallup poll found 9% of voters were more likely to vote for Obama because he was "black." The CNN crew ignored that finding.
The AP poll included adjectives like irresponsible and violent to deduce racial misgivings. Would one apply those terms to Obama? Don't think so. Further, the survey included a question and answers that two AP propagandists, er, writers, ignored. To the question of how the fact that Obama would be the nation's first black president, 6% of the total of respondents said that that made them more likely to vote for him, 6% said, less likely, and 82% didn't care. So the biases offset neatly. The survey's methodology was touted to reduce, if not eliminate, "Bradley effect" responses--and other responses tended to support the notion that respondents were being honest, e.g., in evaluations of people of whom they knew little.
I did not hear Meet the Press Sunday, but I've heard that Ted Koppel cited that 6% figure of less likely to vote for Obama. But again, that ignores the other side, the many young people and some older ones, who think they are declaring themselves as tolerant and above racial considerations, and doing the right thing by the nation in voting for someone because he is black. (And the apparent effort to increase the number of people to vote for Obama because of white guilt and dismay over others' claimed bias against him.)
As for the many black people for whom no other factor really matters, at least, in this election, their reaction is understandable. I recall how many Catholics felt in 1960. I was a Catholic and Kennedy voter, but I had other reasons to vote for him; in retrospect, I bought the news propaganda of the time. But that's another matter.

Oh, EVERYONE can go and vote, there will be a question asked and if you answered it correctly, your vote counted.
I read once about the proposal for a mathematical one, the numbers don't care if you are Left or Right, or Center. Does 4 times 10 minus 20, plus 5, divided by 5 still equal 6? Yes or no?
Willful vs. Gullible
October 14, 2008 - 12:06 ET by cheefloI would add to this that stupid Democrats are willfully stupid in the face of all evidence to the contrary, whereas stupid Republicans are merely gullible, because of their mistaken assumption that the Democrats are acting in good faith.
With all the Christian talk of forgiveness, turning the other cheek, and loving your enemies, the Bible also says:
"Then said he to them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it,
and likewise his money: and he that has no sword, let him sell his
garment, and buy one." -- Luke 22:36 KJV
If you can't recognize your enemies, you are in real trouble.
Willful vs. Gullible, indeed
October 19, 2008 - 03:19 ET by harry flashmanMatthew 10:34-39 - Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Hating on Whitey, liberals that is...
October 18, 2008 - 02:01 ET by Mike2112As a half Hispanic, half Hawaiian Conservative, I really do not understand the white guilt that exist in the country. I think there are two different explanations for this problem. The first, from the rank and file who do not pay attention most of the time, it's just quilt, nothing more. The second, from City Hall to Congress it's much more incedious. They want to keep minorities, black and hispanics inparticular in their place by buying our votes. What's worse is that we fall for it over and over again. What would happen if we realized that we did not need their help? They would total loose their power. Minorities need to wake up an realize that Government is not going to help them, redistribution of wealth is just another way of controlling our lives. All Obama is doing is reintroducing welfare and claiming it's a tax cut. Come on people, WAKE UP!
Dirty Little Secrets
October 18, 2008 - 20:55 ET by TwinmasterReally shows how little average Americans on BOTH sides of the political spectrum know what's really going on. It highlights America's ingnorance as a nation of folks who don't really care about real politics. It makes little difference if you're on the left or the right, we're ALL in this together. That's the biggest problem with American politics today, the "us" versus "them" mentality. That's what politicians want us to do, and anyone who mistakes this kind of entertainment for politics is ignorning the big picture. What's the big picture? American is going down in financial flames because far too few Americans are well-informed enough to make their precious votes count.
