Is this an appropriate picture of Gov. Sarah Palin published by Reuters Wednesday (h/t Ace)?

Or how 'bout this one from the Associated Press also published Wednesday?

Or how 'bout this twofer from AP (could be Cindy McCain's legs in foreground)?
Are these appropriate pictures from major wire services? Would women's groups tolerate these kinds of pictures if this was a Democrat candidate?
No...I don't think so either.

Asexual Press (AP), Ruthless News, and other lower life forms
October 9, 2008 - 00:35 ET by wdhorningIts the old liberal double-standard. Show a female Democrat like that, and 24/7 for a month the MSM will blast the media outlet that released such pictures, but if pictures are sexist with respect to a female Republican, the MSM does a ho-hum.
But lets have a little fun with the photograhper, AP and Ruthless:
i myself do not see palin
October 9, 2008 - 09:09 ET by patmac49i myself do not see palin as attractive but of course, everyone has their own taste...plus i cannot take that andy of mayberry act..but cindy mccain..i think she is absolutly smokin!!!
OK
October 9, 2008 - 10:42 ET by cvgbuckeyeI don't mind; as long as the MSM doesn't mind the picture I just posted on line of Barack Hussein Obama standing between a flag of the Weathermen and the Muslim International flag while he and Michelle are hoisting a sign proclaiming "America's Chickens are coming home to roost; - - - damn America!"
ITS BACKFIRING!!!!
October 9, 2008 - 22:27 ET by wdhorning1) The vast majority of women that see this picture are outraged that a candidate for the Vice President of the United States should be treated in such a sexist, underhanded, demeaning and otherwise Neanderthal manner, which may sway significant numbers of women to vote a vote of protest, either not vote for Obama, or else vote for McCain-Palin
and
2) as incorrect thinking as this might be, some men may even say, "Hey, nice legs. I think I will vote for her." Again, it is the wrong reason to vote for her, but I am only making the point that this is one more way this thing is backfiring on the Neanderthal Press.
Young Man Framed
October 10, 2008 - 19:57 ET by lsheldonI am tired or all these "ist" words.
I suppose the picture of her legs is "sexist", and if she or anybody else is offended I am truly and seriously sorry.
But I am sorrier yet for the loss of humanity. Yes, I do truly believe that it is possible to be immpressed by both the cerebral prowess, and the human sexines of the women, together and separately.
But most interesting to me is what the young man thinks when he sees his picture framed by the legs of what will probably be the most memorable woman of the 21st century.

Exactly why they are doing
October 9, 2008 - 08:38 ET by mattmExactly why they are doing this. Feminists loathe female beauty - one look at most of them proves this.
Feminism isn't pro-woman, it's about de-feminizing women, creating hybrid beings which are neither male nor female, and are intentionally not attractive to men.
They hate Palin because she's a foxy refutation of their entire warped ideology.

The absolute sexism in this
October 8, 2008 - 22:00 ET by bigtimerThe absolute sexism in this is totally unacceptable..this is something the NAGS bitched about about since I was a young girl, I had to watch them destroy a lot of things in this country, intentionally, now this, this is purposeful, the positions of the legs, the different views and suggestions one can get from the young men, it is absolutely beyond disgraceful with what these very people that took these pictures, and the services in the msm that put these out here... are on the same side of the aisle of b!tches like Hill, Pelosi, DiFi, Boxer, McCaskill..on and on...
Enough is enough...where is the msm, where is the NOW groups, it was horrendous what they let Bill Clinton get away with...but this is now taking it to a different level...this takes the cake for me...
there had better be a lot of women like me who are furious...complaining loud and clear...
...enough is enough.
Nothing but disrespect.
I do not give a rats rear about their agenda..we all can see that, or believe me, us women out here can, that have a head on our shoulders...this is nothing but a disgrace to the left and all they stand for.

October 8, 2008 - 23:33 ET by nofateHey, BT. Tell us what you really think. Don't hold back anymore ;>)
The hypocritical, condescending attitude of these folks is just amazing, although not really surprising- Bork, Thomas etc. Just because a candidate fits the look of a normally favored minority doesn't mean they get a pass if they wander off the liberal reservation. Hang in, we've got them on the run. Look how they are telling us we better not talk about Ayers anymore, 'cause it might harm us! As if they are at all concerned about the health of our campaign. Though if McCain would stop handing out goodies to the folks who caused this mess it would sure help.

Not suitable,
October 8, 2008 - 21:45 ET by Indiana JoeStupid, if you ask me. But, honestly, I'm glad they didn't take pics of Dem candidates this way. I know, Hillary was the only one, and thank goodness they didn't do it. But in a pantsuit, these would be nothing, IMO.
The only thing I can imagine this photog had in mind was seeing if he could catch those kids in front ogling her, or drooling. He probably didn't even think or worry about it seeming sexist. Maybe the idea was to show that she's only popular because she's "hot?" Maybe to counter the "only because he's black" argument about Obama not deserving the nom?
But it looks like the kids are listening, watching her face. So, it didn't work out. But why use them at all? All they accomplish is to leave them open to a charge of using "unsuitable," possible sexist, pictures. If he just wanted a shot of the young 'unz, a couple steps to the side would have given him a clear shot.

October 9, 2008 - 00:59 ET by MrShyOkay, I think, for me, the primariy outrage is not the yes or no to whether this is sexist -- the pics themselves -- but the OUTRIGHT and BLATANT reason for going with these to further their create-the-impression cause:
Palin is just a not-very smart bimbo who's not saying anything much of real substance at her rallies. And/or the audience just cares about her looks, since she probabaly doesn't have much to say....
So, our liberal and undecided friends, here's your red meat -- photos of her calves and drooling young men near the stage.
