Sarah Palin Was 'A Bit Annoyed' During Katie Couric Interviews

Photo of Noel Sheppard.

Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin admitted Friday that she was annoyed during her interviews with CBS's Katie Couric because she felt the "Evening News" anchor missed a lot of opportunities to discuss issues "that Americans want to hear about."

Having taken a lot of criticism from Obama-loving media members about her performance during these interviews, Palin met with Fox News's Carl Cameron Friday to clear the air about why she appeared a tad ill at ease with Couric (video embedded right, relevant section at 2:25):

Well, OK, I'll tell you honestly. The Sarah Palin in those interviews was a little bit annoyed because it's, like, man, no matter what you say, you're going to get clobbered. If you choose to answer a question, you're going to get clobbered on the answer. If you choose to try to pivot and go on to another subject that you believe that Americans want to hear about, you get clobbered for that, too.

But in the Katie Couric interviews, I did feel that there were a lot of things that she was missing in terms of an opportunity to ask what a VP candidate stands for, what the values are represented in our ticket.

I wanted to talk about Barack Obama increasing taxes, which will lead to killing jobs. I wanted to talk about his proposal to increase government spending by another trillion dollars, some of his comments that he's made about the war that I think, in my world, disqualify someone from consideration as the next commander-in-chief, some of the comments that he's made about Afghanistan, what we're doing there, supposedly just air-raiding villages and killing civilians. That's reckless. And I wanted to talk about things like that.

So I guess I have to apologize for being a bit annoyed, but that's also an indication of being outside of that Washington elite, outside of the media elite also. I just wanted to talk to Americans without the filter and let them know what we stand for.

And the SCORE is . .Couric 1 Network ....Palin 8 Networks

Couric .69 million

Palin 69.9 Million

It's a Million to one Shot . . . that's one Dead Network, 3 to go.

This was a great interview with Cameron - and he's no Hannity

I've seen Cameron do many a scathing report on conservatives during Brit Hume's Special Report. He is no partisan.

This interview was the best one yet.  He didn't shy away from anything but she was relaxed because she knew he wasn't out to get her in at "gotcha" way like Gibson and Couric.

As I said before, she needs to do only live interviews unless it's with someone she knows won't try and play a gotcha game.  If they do try a gotcha, when it's live, she can give it right back to them without them being able to edit it out.

If the Couric interview had been live - when she asked about what she read Palin could have laughed and said - "Come on - what kind of question is that?  I read the same things everyone else reads - I'm not ready to endorse particular publications at this time"

Both the reading SCOTUS questions understandably made Palin freeze up because you don't want to say something that gives too much importance to your answer.

Biden gave a very lame example of a SCOTUS decision considering all the screaming going on about the supposed Conservative court.  He picked a decision that was before the Roberts court and it was one that most people wouldn't care about.  I thought his answer was more lame than hers.   If she would have only picked one like he did, they still would have been all over it as not a landmark case or something.  She can't win with them whereas Biden and Obama can't lose.

Scotus Question

The Couric interview was "gotcha" poltics.  Without some time to reflect naming a Supreme Court decision you disagree with can start a big controversy.  For instance, if she mentioned Boumedine v Bush, all the civil rights groups would be up in arms. The fact is Kenendy did a horrible job formulating that opinion.

Biden believes in a...

living, breathing Constitution, one that may be amended at any time by any five Supreme Court Justices.  He admitted to this in his debate, giving his reason for opposing Bork, but I have yet to hear anybody make comment on it.  Jim Webster

Well I seen the interview yesterday

You can tell the difference between the others because he wasnt condensending. He talk to her not at her.Myself I dont like when someone talks down at me unless your a boss .I'll just ignore you or tell you where to get off.The thing is Sara should of ended the interview with Charlie and The Perky One.I learned more about her in the short time Cameron interview her then the combined Charlie/Katy ambush.

So right well99

Gibson and Couric had no interest in trying to know or understand her or to help the people understand her or her positions.  They had one goal and that was to make her look as bad as they possibly could

Dee & Well

SPOT-ON.

Disgusting.

MSM mission: paint as bad a picture as possible of Palin, McCain's new ace in his sleeve. Do all we can to get Obama elected.

I hope the old Sarah Palin Doesn't Come Back

I hope the old Sarah Palin doesn't come back and this Sarah Palin stays. This is what we needed all along, someone that really does "straight talk" and speaks what we've all been thinking and grumbling about for months now. I really hope it's not too late for her to get the truth out there and show that she really is the people's candidate, not the media's.

She's still here for the

She's still here for the moment, at least...

Katie annoys me when I just see her on a TV with no sound.

I can't imagine how much more annoying I would find her if I had to actually sit in the same room and be interviewd by her.

I just wish Sarah Palin had come out with this a little sooner, as I feel it may have helped to blunt at least a few of the vicious attacks she sufffered at the hands of the lefty MSM and their dog-washers in the radical far-left blogosphere.

I like Sarah Palin, and feel she adds a lot of vitality to a party that has such a high number of stale, dried-up old fogies lying about.

Its just too bad her wagon is tied to John McCain, who, after yesterday, I have no use for whatsoever.

Remember what happened to Walter Mondale in the next election cycle after his four year association with Jimmy Carter?

If this nation is to be saved, it will be libertarian principles that save it.

I remember Walter Mondale

And believe me, Sarah Palin is no Walter Mondale.

(Couldn't resist it)

Thank God

He was a real twit.

Speaking of twits the youtube leftist are really slaming her on the interview.A mind is a terrible thing to waste.Alot of the of the posters are proving it.

and just think of how much

money their parents spent trying to get some 'knowledge' into those minds...little did they know it would be trash instead.

I think one of the best parts of An American Carol was seeing the college hippie professors singing and dancing as the parents watched in horror.  So sad!  A college education used to mean something until 'everyone' decided they had to take part - just what the hippie professors were waiting for...lots of innocent children to brainwash.  Most of the kids attending college today don't hold a candle to the maturity of a high schooler not that many years ago.

They need to go back to old ways. You want a car.You pay for it and the insurance. It is fine to give them allowances as long as they do work for it.Mow lawns and such. But for big items they should have to work pt during school year and full time during summer. It gives a person greater appreciation.

Katie Couric annoys a lot of people. That is why she has...

low ratings.  I would like to know who's idea it was to put Sarah on her show.  Nobody watches it, but the edited clips showing her hesitant answers were shown on shows that are watched.  Couric has a knack for putting Republicans ill at ease.  She considers it part of her job and in that one area of expertise, she is very, very good.  Jim Webster

Suggestion

I suggest NewsBusters makes Sarah Palin an honorary member of this web site.  She would certainly find some support, and some useful info too.

I took me a couple of weeks to become registered.  I suggest that you could cut some of the red tape for her.

So, if we all-of-a-sudden

So, if we all-of-a-sudden see a post from, say, SBaracuda or "theBitingfish", with "Reagan" on her buddy list, we can assume it's .....?

I think Sara

wanted to say.
Katie, who the hell do you think you are?
Who do you think you are talking to?
I am the Governor of Alaska and for your information, we can read in Alaska, we have loads of newspapers, and television too.
The only channel we do not have is CBS!!!
Now, get out of my face!

You have to give the lady

a lot of credit that she was able to hold her tongue and not utter your suggested retorts...I would have gotten up and walked off - or uttered them!  Guess that's why I'm not in politics ;-)

You go Needle

I agree with the Sara Palin comment.

Sarah should have said: "We

Sarah should have said: "We get lots of books and magazines way up here in AK, Katie. Why, when Bernie Goldberg published the book Bias, it just flew off the shelves in all of our book stores. Are you familiar with that book, Katie?"

Well, we don't want good ol'

Well, we don't want good ol' Sarah to be annoyed, do we.
