Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich did what conservatives have been waiting for someone to do since Sarah Palin was announced as John McCain's running mate: take on someone in the media claiming that she lacks the qualifications to be vice president.
Such marvelously occurred Tuesday evening on the convention floor in St. Paul when MSNBC's Ron Allen said to the former Speaker, "But to be fair, her resume is not something we're familiar seeing with presidential candidates."
This didn't sit well with Gingrich who strongly replied (video embedded right, h/t NB readers Matt Noll and Patrick):
It's stronger than Barack Obama's. I don't know why you guys walk around saying this baloney. She has a stronger resume than Obama. She's been a real mayor, he hasn't. She has been a real governor, he hasn't. She's been in charge of the Alaskan National Guard, he hasn't. She was a whistleblower who defeated an incumbent mayor. He has never once shown that kind of courage. She's a whistleblower who turned in the chairman of her own party and got him fined $12,000. I've never seen Obama do one thing like that. She took on the incumbent governor of her own party and beat him, and then she beat a former Democratic governor in the general election. I don't know of a single thing Obama's done except talk and write.
Newt then challenged Allen:
I'd like you to tell me one thing Sen. Obama's done.
With that, Allen retreated, and said:
Thanks very much, Mr. Speaker. I'm going to leave it there. I'm not going to argue the case. Thanks very much.
Hmmm. Imagine that. I guess folks like Allen are only willing to argue the case when there's nobody playing the part of the defense attorney.
How convenient.

Exposing Libera Media Bias.
September 3, 2008 - 01:29 ET by JWFIsn't that what this site is all about?
What is the difference between what you are saying and posting and the bias the liberal media is displaying on Palin, her daughter, and her experience?
I see one of the top articles here is "Palin 'Dan Quayle all over'".
Where is the one that says, PopTech hammers Palin again and again and again and again and again and again.
I am failing to see the difference. I am not pleased as punch with McCain or Palin but I don't see the point in backhandedly giving Obama a free vote by throwing away my vote on a third party, most especially one appears to be taking voters from the Republican rolls.
Is that what this is all about? Barr?
So now criticizing Palin's lack of experience is liberal?
September 3, 2008 - 01:39 ET by PopularTechPlease stop being partisan. I've provided the facts. I am not an editor here so I have nothing to do with the content of the site but the editors are clearly exposing liberal media bias.
I did not make the liberal inference.
September 3, 2008 - 01:56 ET by JWFI said you sound biased just like the liberal media. There is no need for you to point out the lack of experience, the media is doing a wonderful job without you. See what I am saying here?
Yes, you are providing the facts, but by pounding, and at the expense of completely overlooking the other side. And now you seem to be indicating why, because you like Bob Barr. That sir, sounds like bias to me.
The media is not making it as clear as I am
September 3, 2008 - 02:17 ET by PopularTechAnd the Barr comment was in response to voting against Obama as the only choice. My only bias is I prefer qualifications.
Yes, yes they are.
September 3, 2008 - 02:33 ET by JWFThe media is making it absolutely clear. Crystal clear.
So the Bob Barr thing was a Red Herring to throw me off scent. Not nice sir, I have seen those tactics usually come out of one camp. Not nice at all.
We get your point but you are pounding the table.
I also see that most people here like Palin and comment accordingly. Ok, as I said, this site is about exposing media liberal bias, so it would seem more people on the right will be drawn here and comment here. Most comments are going to favor the right side just from numbers alone.
You made your point, we saw it, but you seem to be taking pleasure in twisting the knife. I just wonder why.

September 3, 2008 - 18:27 ET by PopularTechYou asked, who do you vote for Obama or McCain, I said Barr. It is called a response to a question, there is no conspiracy.

We got it with a bullet. McCain did not check with you before making the VP pick and you are angry. So you pound the table here. Looks like I am the last one out the door of the room full of people that respected you. Turn out the lights when you leave.
If we want to hear people hammer on Palin, all we have to do is turn on the TV, pick up a newspaper, or a magazine. Don't need to turn to Poptech for that, but nice of you to join the pile on.

What impresses me is that she can proudly present hers while BO tries to hide his!
Why else, for instance, would he appear to be avoiding a major venue like The O'Reilly Factor where he knows he would be viewed by many of the voters he will need to win in November, but also face serious, probing, legitimate questions in the process? An additional example is how BO's campaign has approached the Justice Department to investigate AIP and one of its bacckers, Simmons, I believe, in an attempt to intimidate them and future efforts to expose Obama's background and past/present affiliations.

OR you could have a voting system with +/- counts. If you get several minuses your ability to post on that story is then limited. If this happens on several stories over a short period, then you are severely limited or canned.

Pop tech is really just mad
September 3, 2008 - 07:34 ET by amberPop tech is really just mad that she is a woman. If she were a man with the same quals, minus the pagent stuff, he would not have a problem. He seems to think that if a woman says she was a brilliant pick, then it is because the woman has no objectivity. He is an ass and I can only assume he does not think women belong in positions of power unless they are 85 and have passed the bar in 50 states. He has dislodged his brain. If he is a lawyer, he must really suck at it because lawyers know, you play to the jury as much as possible without compromising your case. That is what McCain did and he succeeded. Palin is a much better selection than any of PTs choices. McCain may have won with Romney if the media imploded and actually spoke the truth about Obama, but that is not going to happen. Mc Cain will win with Palin. The more the media hammer her, the more they will be proven wrong. Like the other article says, they have lowered expectations so far that when Palin does speak, people will be blown away by her, in a great way.
PT also loathes Christians and is terribly afraid of them, so much so, that he thinks an anti-gunner like Guilliani is a better candidate. Maybe he is afraid of women with guns.
All PT's whining and crap asside...what in the world was up with Leiberman? Wow he sucks and people cheared! "McCain is not afraid to reach across the aisle and get campaing finance reform done! McCain fought hard for better global warming policies...blah blah blah" I think Leiberman did a huge campaing speach for Obama at the RNC. Puke.

Law degree (like we need another lawyer)
experience:
ACORN community organizer
Aprox 180 days in the US Senate
a few years in the Illinois Senate
served on the board of CAC with William Ayers
used procedural challeges to rid himself of primary opponents
voted "present" more than 100 times
yeah great qualifications for a commander in chief. A guy with no real executive experience, who hangs around with unrepentent terrorists and racist preahcers, who has had to distance himself from numerous campaign advisors due to alleged ties to the terrorist group Hamas and cant even take a stand on votes in the Senate. Yeah that is the kind of leader we need (dripping with sarcasm).

" ACORN community
September 3, 2008 - 08:13 ET by danbo" ACORN community organizer"?
Acorn workers indicted for alleged voter fraud
Acorn charged with voter fraud also in Washington
Virginia "56% of the voter registration applications ACORN turned in were ineligible."
Wisconsin: "The district attorney’s office investigated seven voter registration applications Project Vote employees filed in the names of people who said the group never contacted them."
Colorado: "An ACORN employee admitted to forging signatures and registering three of her friends to vote 40 times."
I could go on.
A Google search of ACORN and voter fraud turned up 41,000 hits. Many link back to the same incidences. But there are many of them.
Limited Disclosure: I used to belong to the Sierra Club untill they went crazier. Worse of all, I was bribed by Exxon with free New Orleans Saints glasses with fill ups in the 70's.
Acorn

Ignoring Palin's actual record
September 3, 2008 - 07:02 ET by ChrisMillsIt's sad to see a usually good contributor like Tech spitting out the same nonsense as the network news. God forbid we acknowledge real Palin accomplishments such as:
1) Negotiated and signed an international agreement with Canada on a gas pipeline (i.e., the rare governor with foreign policy experience)
2) Rejected federal tax dollars on the bridge to nowhere, which would have been an almost complete waste of our taxpayer money.
3) Sucessfully executed ethics violations on corrupt state politicians
4) Managed a multi-billion dollar Alaskan budget
5) Commands the Alaskan National Guard
By spewing out the same Dem talking points against Palin's experience when Obama is the singular most inexperienced candidate they could have possibly found (and by the way he's running for pres not VP) a conservative attacking Palin is just inching us closer to what would be the most disasterous pres'cy in our nation's history. PT, I'd recommend re-analyzing Palin's record. You should believe and say anything you want, but it's not a help to yourself or anyone to be deceiving yourself like this.
I didn't post her 'Record', I posted her 'Resume'
September 3, 2008 - 19:46 ET by PopularTechTry to figure out the difference but you post propaganda! Palin was for the bridge before she was against it...
Palin touts stance on 'Bridge to Nowhere,' doesn't note flip-flop (Anchorage Daily News)
Palin Supported the Bridge to Nowhere (Gravina Island Bridge) (Anchorage Daily News)
5. Would you continue state funding for the proposed Knik Arm and Gravina Island bridges?
"Yes. I would like to see Alaska's infrastructure projects built sooner rather than later. The window is now - while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist." - Sarah Palin, 2006
And the 'Commader of the Alaskan National Guard' is utter propaganda. She has no military experience.
I suggest you stop spinning Palin's limited experience with lies and propaganda.
